Nothing fancy, but once the food starts arriving, you immediately feel at home. The service was perfect: very attentive and full of great recommendations that made the experience even better. If you like lamb, this is the place. They offer it in different preparations and everything is delicious. Start with the roasted eggplant -- you won't be disappointed. Then try the lamb kebab, and if you want to share, order the lamb shank, very tender with a deep cinnamon flavor. The house wine, Zoe, was perfect and really completed the experience. One of the best greek spots in Miami! We've been coming to Maria's for a few years now, and they are consistent in food quality and service. The restaurant has plenty of seating, perfect to seat a large or small party. When my family and I come, we normally order the saganaki, hummus, and the keftedakai for appetizers. These are all amazing and go well together. And for entrees, I recommend their tilapia if you are a fish lover, or the chicken gyro, which is just so delicious. Great Greek restaurant. It felt and tasted homemade. As if I was dining at my grandmothers home in Paros. We had a few appetizers to start, the lentil soup and honey-cheese pastry. Both were super tasty. We had a glass of Greek red wine but of that I wasn't a fan. Then we ordered the roasted chicken and potatoes and the Gyro platter. Super fresh, simple, and delicious. This was my second visit to Maria's - good Greek food that is a hidden gem. Large portions - the appetizer was large with Portosole is outstanding upscale Italian restaurant in Coral Gables, with a large dining room and excellent service, and a nice varied menu. Four of us shared the crispy light calamari and the superb eggplant parmigiana - it may be one of the best eggplant dishes I have had in a long time. I asked our server what cheeses were in it because it had such a unique and wonderful taste, but he said only mozzarella and Parmesan. We all had pasta - all homemade and delicious - pasta with pesto, paste with clams, pasta with zucchini and meat-filled raviolis. And for dessert we split a creamy lemon tart and a sinfully good pistachio cake served with pistachio ice cream. If you like Italian food, Portosole should be on your list. Excellent Lamb Chops, Chargrilled Octopus w/ fava bean puree is outstanding and the Lamb Shank like you are back in Greece. The Avgolemeno Soup very authentic with plenty of chicken and lemon give it the flavors your Yia Yia made. One of their best desserts and it is not consistently on the menu, Galatabouriko. Excellent spot for an authentic Greek meal. This place has been around forever me continues to deliver a great meal. I had the gyro platter. It includes a nice salad with olives and shredded feta, French fries right from the frier. Some tisiki and excellent gyro meat. The chicken kabob has all the same stuff as the gyro but with perfectly cooked chicken. For a place to survive this long they have a to be doing something right. So you say you like Greek food right? Well if that is the case, you will definitely want to check out Maria's Greek Restaurant. Came to find out that they have been around for quite some time in Miami so they are a very safe bet. Truthfully I had never been to this restaurant but my cousins wanted to try something new so we headed on over. Parking was not a problem but you will need to park on the street and it was somewhat limited so you just may need to park a little further out and walk a bit. Well worth it guys as the food and service were excellent! Upon arrival we were greeted and seated within about 10 minutes. It was very busy which is always a good sign. The restaurant ambiance was nice as it was clean, nicely decorated with a modern feel. Once seated our server ran us through some recommendations, brought us our drinks and we were off to the races. To start things off, we decided to go with the Appetizer Platter as it had a little of everything. We also ordered the grilled octopus for an appetizer as you can go to a Greek restaurant and not try the octopus right? . I have to say everything was very fresh and the octopus was out of this world. Anyway, cruising in to our main courses we decided to go with the Lamb Shank for two of us, the 1/2 Grilled Chicken, the Moussaka and an order of Tzatziki with Pita bread for the whole group. If you are thinking "good grief these guys were hungry", well you would be right! On the drink side we stuck to the house wine which was light but nice. Honestly we really enjoyed all the food, drinks and had a great time as well. You will not be disappointed if you give them a try as we have been back on a few occasions since and it has been just as good. "Orders may take longer due to short staffing".... understandable Ordered an an appetizer with several spreads: hummus, babaganoush and taramosalata. Spreads were a bit on the chunky side, maybe that's the reason it's spreadable??? Also got the special of the day, they do have a different item every day, it was stuffed tomato and pepper served with potatoes. And a Gyro platter, it came with lamb, greek salad and french fries. Came here for a special celebration dinner with my family. The service was amazing in spite of the fact that they are short staffed. They were spectacular service!! The place was full but we never had to wait too long for anything. The restaurant is very beautiful, clean, nice decor and architecture inside. Returned to eat here and ordered the Branzino which had an amazing taste. Unfortunately it was not fileted well and had bones but the skin was super crispy. Did not like the lemony potatoes because they were cut too big and they did not serve pita bread which they should have. I can say that the best dessert ever was the Galactobourico which was amazing. I've been to this restaurant several times, and while the food was always decent, the place is usually empty--and now I know why. During my most recent visit, I ordered a chicken platter that I've had multiple times before. However, this time, as I bit into the chicken, I realized it was completely undercooked--pink, raw, and filled with veins and fat. When I cut into another piece, it was even worse. I immediately called the server, who was very polite and suggested they remake the dish. However, an older lady, presumably the manager or owner, approached me and asked me to put the raw chicken on a separate plate so she could cook it again. I explained that I had already bitten into the chicken and spit it out, to which she responded, "The fire kills all of that." I was utterly shocked and disgusted by her response. I tried to explain to her that saliva can carry bacteria and viruses that aren't necessarily killed just by reheating the food, especially given my background in biology. I asked if they could simply make a new chicken kabob, but she refused until the server intervened. This was the most revolting dining experience I've ever had. Serving raw chicken is unacceptable, and the complete lack of understanding about basic food safety is alarming. I will not be returning, and I strongly advise others to be cautious when dining here. read more

I ordered the lentil soup and it was bland it had no consistency. It was oily. The grape leaves were exactly what have you would buy from a supermarket canned grape leaves can. The mouzaka was bland and no taste. We send back our entrees and the manager came back and gave us attitude because she did not like that we did not like what they served us.
