I am so disapointed with Farmers. I have been a client for over 20 years. I was recently informed that because my son got a speeding ticket, not only was my rate going up, but I was going to be forced to pay my 6 month premium upfront.... I was told that, "It has to do with a billing restriction that is triggered when one of the drivers on the policy doesn't qualify for the CA Good Driver discount." I understand not getting the "good driver discount", but then penalizing me even further by demanding my premium in one lump some is unacceptable. Eric was such a good agent and Farmers had been there for me when I needed them - that is why I didn't shop for lower options and was okay paying a premium for the service. I have now switched car insurance and will be looking at options for my home because I clearly can't trust Farmer's to be there for me any more. I am so disappointed... read more

I've worked with this agent for a few years and have only have awful experiences. They are unresponsive and don't appear to be knowledgable. He had me working with someone on his team who clearly doesn't know what they are talking about. I did some reference checks around this person with other Farmers agents and he is known to be very poor. I raised this concern with the agent and was brushed off. We interacted with Jimmy Cheng about a homeowners insurance. He was a very reactive and he was able to process a fairly complex case. Compared to other agents who we reached out Jimmy did not send any quotes which did not have chances to go though. Eric walked us through the home insurance process. He was in close communication with our lender and answered any questions we had. We had a slight complication as our bid included a 50 day rent back so we weren't in the area to get the inspectors in until then. Eric worked with the insurance underwriters and kept us in the loop to ensure we scheduled our inspection within the proper timeframe to avoid gaps in our coverage since we were cutting it close with the home not owner occupied yet. This review is mainly about Jimmy Cheung who's an Account Manager at Eric Gee's Farmers Insurance Agency. After speaking with a few friends of mine about my Auto and Renters Insurance I realized that I might be paying a bit too much while I was insured with AAA. So of course I started looking online and I was getting a bunch of quotes from MANY insurance companies. Eventually, it came down to two companies Geico and Farmers. In order to receive an actual final quote with Farmers, you have to go thru one of their agents. Farmers website automatically sent my quotes to a different agent Ronald Ayres in Rocklin, CA while I'm in Castro Valley, CA (not sure why). So I looked up online for a few Farmers Insurance agents in The Bay Area and came across Eric Gee's agency who I emailed with a request to review my quotes on a Saturday. The same day I got an email back from Eric Gee that I'll be receiving a call from Jimmy Cheung who's one of his agents, which I shortly did. Jimmy took from me some additional info in order to prepare for me the accurate (not estimated as online) quotes. On Monday morning I already had all of my quotes ready and on Wednesday we were already finalizing all of the paperwork since I was able to reduce my insurance cost by around 30% compared to AAA with even slightly better coverage. After I already signed all of DocuSign documents (very convenient) I had a bit of a complicated question for Jimmy regarding how would my new Auto Insurance policy will cover me if I'm renting a car thru Care Share Rental company like Turo. The next day Jimmy got a detailed response from Farmers Underwriters for me on Christmas Eve day. Eric Gee also sent me a few follow-up emails to make sure that my process with Jimmy Cheung is all going smooth. So so far I've been really satisfied with Eric Gee's agency especially with Jimmy Cheung and happy to add another review that they truly deserve!!! This is my second time using Eric, so this is a two for one review. The first time was when I bought a home in Palm Springs in 2015. I had been with State Farm Insurance for 30+ years, so I had every intention of sticking with them, but they said they couldn't insure a home with a flat roof. Really? Drive around Palm Springs and you will see most homes have a flat roof. I was surprised and disappointed in State Farm's response. I can't remember if the mortgage broker recommended Eric or if I found him online, either way, I consider myself lucky to have connected with him. He was responsive and helpful in getting my home insured prior to closing. Whenever I had a question, he responded to my emails within the same day and even suggested a phone call if he felt it was easier to explain something live. I sold my place in early 2020 in order to buy a place in San Diego. The pandemic made it very challenging to find a place as the inventory dwindled and the prices skyrocketed. Finally in 2022 I am in escrow again. Because of a tight closing schedule, my new mortgage broker suggested using an online insurance company called Lemonade. (what a name) Everything is online and automated. They add a name and photo of a person, but it's easy to tell that the responses are not from a real person. Every response I received was from a different "person." You answer some questions online and they give you a quote that you can share with the mortgage company. All seems good. Then to "finalize" the coverage, the last thing they ask is for you to upload the inspection report. I then received an email from "Meghan" (who loves her cat and playing frisbee on the beach) with the subject line: I am sooooooo sorry. They have strict requirements not to insure properties that are not well maintained. What? This place is 85% remodeled, most of the upgrades in this townhome are less than 5 years old. They are basing it solely on the inspection report and called out some minor corrosion on the hot water heater connection and a loose strap attaching the hot water heater to the wall in the garage. I'm freaking out because the close date is fast approaching. Then I remember my past experience with Eric! I reach out to Eric and he remembers that he helped me with my home in Palm Springs and is happy to help again. Within the hour of reaching out to Eric via email, he has a quote that I can share with my mortgage company. I then connect Eric with my mortgage broker and by the end of the day, they have all documents in place and my insurance is confirmed and goes into effect on my closing date. After my second experience with Eric, it's now time to move my auto insurance and break my 30+ year streak with State Farm. :-) To sum it up: Need insurance? Go with Eric Gee! read more
