    Cheese fries

If your not a usually expect to wait. Everyone else got served before we did. All we ordered was a burger and cheese fries. I don't bother with cheese fries. I don't know where the cheese comes from but it's not natural. It won't even melt.

An after-church Sunday afternoon favorite, you'll find down home southern cooking here, complete with garden grown vegetables, home made meatloaf and fresh pies. The daily specials list reads like a list of things mom and grandmom made and it all tastes wonderful. They point out that with the exception of their sugar-free pies and cakes, almost everything is locally grown and home made. Add to that the abundant interesting memorabilia and you have a great place to eat Sunday or any other day of the week. Even their bathrooms are interesting! The men's room has a "throne" feel, complete with a suit of armor. Last I heard there was gospel music singing Monday nights and breakfast available all day Wednesday. If you're looking for good food at a place where locals like to eat (instead of a touristy kind of restaurant), check out the Tellico Junction Cafe. Chances are pretty good you'll be there when a train goes by. Based in the heart of historic Englewood, Tennessee within sight of highway 411 between Madisonville and Etowah, it's a nice place to take a walk down main street after supper.

Enjoyed a delicious home cooked meal on our way to Athens at this charming place. The service and the food were great! The prices unbeatable! My husband and I had a hearty lunch, drinks and dessert for $21 total!! If you're ever around Englewood, TN definitely try Tellico Juntion Cafe

Great basic diner menu. Food is terrific and fresh. A regular hangout for locals and anyone looking for a good, low priced meal.

Great little place to stop for lunch. Mom and Pop place in an old, historic building, great decor, friendly staff, good food.

There aren't a lot of things that I love better than a local unique bar & restaurant with huge…read morespace, swanky decor, and a few nice surprises. Folks come in very casual attire, some arrive in fully formal clothes, and everything in between. It's a really comfortable vibe and that's something that I appreciate. Maybe you do, too? The owners are a couple and chances are they'll be the ones waiting on you, preparing your food, and treating you love a neighbor who came out to have a good time. Locals who I know LOVE it here. The food is always great, and if the have homemade egg rolls, try them. They're amazing! Also, one of the best burgers I've ever had, and among the ways that we're spoiled in Athens, we have several places with GREAT burgers. Seriously. I mean, don't come to Athens just to eat at a chain. Come on downtown and try places like this and nibble around the edges of town for a few other treats. The name is appropriate. It's THE OPEN DOOR in "the friendly city" in a small, pretty, southern town fercryinoutloud. So I expected that and T.O.D. delivered. Well, I ate-in several times and I don't even know if they Door Dash. It's just an expression, OK? This is not the review to take literally. It's still honest. I've had steak, chicken, prime rib, burgers, the aforementioned egg rolls, and a catfish dinner and it was delicious EVERY time. Every damn time. Folks enjoy the drinks here and this place has huge extra rooms that they open when it's warranted. They don't always have enough staff to be like a chain restaurant/bar and they employ some intermittent staff for busy events, so I don't come expecting a hostess type greeting, white linen, and tables set and ready. They're usually hustling to keep up, take care of their guests who are, from my observation(s), usually friends and neighbors and regulars, and a few folks who are just visiting sprinkled-in for good measure. Yet, it's not so local that the player piano stops and everyone stares when you swing through the saloon doors. Well, through the pretty front door and IF it had saloon doors. It's friendly and welcoming without people being all up in your business. If you're feeling like you're in a hurry, take a deep breath and relax and maybe sit at the bar.

Absolutely the best food in Athens. Best hamburger you can find and incredible service.read more

I wanted to try their pancakes but didn't want a full stack, and our server Robin was wonderful in recommending the Sweet Start. One thing we really appreciated is that all breakfast entrees include coffee or tea, and the prices are already very reasonable. We were also pleasantly surprised to learn that even though we ordered specialty coffees, we could still enjoy complimentary refills of regular coffee. The restaurant has a charming and unique atmosphere, with every table looking a little different from the next. For my meal, I ordered the Sweet Start, which included one pancake, eggs, and bacon. I also appreciated the transparency from the staff. When I asked for an extra serving of their homemade pecan butter, I was informed upfront that there would be an additional charge....a level of honesty that's surprisingly rare these days. My husband ordered the Banana Nut French Toast comes with homemade whipped cream and homemade pecan butter, which also came with bacon. He added a side of eggs as well. Everything was delicious. I'm especially particular about pancakes, and I can honestly say they serve some of the best pancakes I've had. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and attentive, and what stood out most was how genuinely happy all the staff seemed to be. It created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made our visit even more enjoyable. We would definitely return the next time we're in the area.

Still I am hoping that one day they will offer black bean burgers as a substitute. Maybe! In the meantime, we can pop in and enjoy breakfast!
