The only issue is, I'm guessing the kitchen was backed up and the servers were a bit overwhelmed. We ended up having an enjoyable meal, and the food itself was great as always. And eventually someone who was not technically our server took care of us and did an excellent job. I shared eggs and challah french toast with my daughter and both were great. The latte (ehhh) ... Sometimes there's nothing more satisfying than thinly-sliced meat piled high on a sturdy onion roll. That's why I've had Stage Deli on my to-go list for years. I finally made it on a free morning, just in time for an early lunch. On the day of my visit, it was cold and wet, so outdoor dining was out of the question. Just inside is a large deli counter with items available for take-out. Beyond that was a large and stylish dining room, where diners enjoyed the last of their breakfasts. I was a smidge earlier than everyone else for lunch; the dining room filled up soon afterwards. I loved the huge menu - there were so many options for soups, salads (Maurice, Greek, and Cobb, to name a few), sandwiches (Reuben's, triple deckers, and even vegetarian), burgers and hot dogs, breakfasts (omelettes, waffles, and French toast), and deli classics. I opted for the Victor Special, extra cut, which included larger portions of both corned beef and pastrami, coleslaw, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing. The thinly-sliced meat was indeed piled high at the center. For my side, I had wanted the onion rings, but they were already sold out! Instead, I went with the hash browns; they were crispy with a mashed potato-like interior. In retrospect, I should have tried some of the foods I've enjoyed from my hometown: knishes, blintzes, latkes; I'm now dreaming of meals I've had in my past. My pastrami sandwich was outstanding - piled high and deep. The crispy crusted rye bread with the soft interior is a fabulous combination. I can't believe how much I have missed great bread. And that is all that is needed for the sandwich unless you want some Russian dressing which is surprisingly good. I didn't expect to like it since I am team mustard. I didn't ask for my sandwich to be grilled and so glad I didn't because I couldn't get past half of the sandwich. The portions are generous and the pricing reflects that. My dining companion got the reuben and enjoyed it immensely. She got it grilled. It looked really good. In contrast, the french fries were not good. We were hoping they would be but the ones at Ember's were so much better despite both of them being frozen steak cut fries from a bag. I know better generally to stay away from fries and I don't normally get fries anyway. What was I thinking? I guess it was an optimistic moment. This is a bustling place with a fancier atmosphere than a typical deli. The desserts looked good but who makes it to dessert with these ginormous sandwiches? Our server was outstanding. I've been interested in trying the Stage Deli since my last visit to Katz's in NYC to have some traditional Jewish deli! I had the #32 pastrami on rye and it was pretty tasty. The portions are OK and I really enjoy steak fries so that was a plus! The atmosphere is light and open, and if you're in the mood there is a take out counter as well. My server was very attentive and friendly and i got a really good fresh deli style dill pickle with my sandwich, yum! This was an unexpected visit. We were visiting the nearby Holocaust Center and grabbed a bite after. We got recommended to go by the lady in the Holocaust Center's gift shop. This was well worth the visit in the pouring rain. The size of the deli sandwich was unbelievable and I ate off of it for little over two days. Ordered their thanksgiving dinner for eight last week and it was superb!! It really was enough for 10-12 people. The turkey was the best I've ever had...moist and tender with no gamey smell. All the sides were incredible. We paid $425 which included an additional side ($26), tax and tip. Desert is an extra charge as are additional sides. This has gotta be the best kept secret in West Bloomfield Township! They were extremely professional and had my order ready in time and even loaded the item in my trunk. In town visiting and was really in the mood for a Jewish deli, this place was recommended to me, and it did not disappoint. My wife, her aunt and I visited and were seated pretty immediately, even though it was decently busy. We were sat in a back corner, and the waitress was quick and attentive. The menu had so much to offer, and I wanted to try so much from the menu Matzo Ball soup, Kreplach, Mish Mash, Knishes, French Friend Chicken Livers. Decided to go with an appetizer of the Smoked Fish Dip, which was $14 and delicious, although the Pita chips were heavily salty (I love salt, but super salty). Matzo Ball Soup $10. To be honest did not notice any chicken in the soup just broth, which was a bit bland, the Matzo ball itself was nice and dense with a good creamy consistency. I was up in the air on what sandwich I wanted, leaning towards the #34 Jack's special (Hot corned beef, Chopped Liver, Lettuce, Russian dressing)...until I saw #40 Music Man (Tender Deli Tongue, Crisp Lettuce, Tomato, Spicy Pickle, Hot mustard) $18 for the smaller size $22 for the larger (nice to split). We were looking for a classic Jewish deli sandwich, and Stage Deli gave us just that. The restaurant was very spacious with ample seating, and the service was great. It felt a bit outdated inside, but I didn't really mind that since it was pretty clean and well lit. I got a West Side Story with a side order of potato salad. The sandwich was great, and checked all the boxes for me. The bread was the softest rye I've ever had. I liked how fluffy it was, even though that was not exactly the texture was expecting. The pastrami was really good, and it was sliced perfectly. The coleslaw and russian dressing were fine but nothing special. We stopped for lunch at the Stage Deli on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated quickly. It is a large deli menu with soups, sandwiches, and burgers. I am sure most people could find something to their taste. We started with the Mushroom Barley soup, which was very good. We split the Fantasia sandwich (Turkey). The sandwich tasted fresh, but was dry for my taste. It could have used some sauce to give it flavor and texture. I liked the atmosphere with the painted portraits (Marilyn Monroe, etc...). The deli has a sortof New York feel. The prices were on the higher side for a deli, in my opinion, but the atmosphere and quality food justified it. I appreciate many of the items had two sizes. You'll see stars and icons adorn the walls while you eat. You can have fries with Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. It is on the pricey side so be prepared to pay star diner prices. The thing I like here the most is there corned beef West Side Story version with coleslaw and secret dressing on rye bread served with a deli pickle. I prefer the old more mature pickles as they have a richer flavor. This is a good place to take relatives or friends who are in town or a business lunch if you're getting per diem. Wanted true deli food and after a yelp search decided on stage. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming and the service was excellent. My husband and I both had matzo all soup and it was very tasty. I had mine as soup with a half sandwich and went with a classic corned beef on rye with added Swiss. The flavor was good but would have liked some kind of sauce or condiment with the sandwich. I also had a side of noodle kugel and it was excellent. Creamy and sweet and the perfect temperature. My husband had the titanic and it was definitely that. He really enjoyed it and had leftovers on day 2 to finish it up. He had a side of the home made chips which were very good but a bit pricy for what they are- maybe a side of dip to go with them would make it feel like a better value? I go there regularly and the server today told me when I asked for some extra broth for my matzah ball soup, "I can either charge for a cup or a bowl". Best Dinty Moore ever!!! My husband hasn't been here in 5 years and the Dinty Moore is still outstanding! If he could have licked the plate and his fingers - he would have. I got the veggie - cauliflower- tacos with the Spanish rice and beans that come with it on the side. The cauliflower was great. Seasoned well. At issue was the beans.
