While there are some major highlights to this spot, the food unfortunately didn't quite live up to expectations. Every staff member I interacted with was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The Critique: The Food: Sadly, the food was pretty subpar. At this price point, you expect a certain level of quality and flavor, and it just didn't taste as good as it should have. It was a letdown considering how perfect everything else was. We ate breakfast here during our 3 night stay at the Westin. We opted for the breakfast buffet. After seeing all the options my husband decided to eat there with me. We got there right when it opened at 6:30 am. We were quickly greeted by our server. He had fresh coffee ready to pour for us. I asked about a hot latte espresso with almond milk and he was able to accommodate me. The breakfast buffet was nicely labeled with allergy info which made my choices easy. They had a yogurt, oatmeal , omelet stations. Some freshly squeezed juices, chai pudding, salmon, scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, sausage. Lots of gluten free options. The service was really great. We sat at a table near the windows and could see views of the golf course. The only thing was a little concerning was our bill was $100 for the both of us. This is a difficult one. Went twice while staying at the Westin. The first experience was absolutely incredible service and food. The second experience was marginal. The food was good enough the first time to draw me back into the restaurant. It was a burger and fries. The staff was excellent and for a lunch crowd it was pretty quiet. The second visit should have been the same. The food was okay. We mentioned we were going to split the meal and our server decided to cut the burger and split the salad for us. Trying to be nice but please ask. She disappeared during the meal only to come back with the check. It's hit or miss. read more

First time visiting. We were not staying at this particular Westin yet valet parking was validated by the restaurant resulting in free valet service. The restaurant service was excellent! The staff works well together and is very attentive. The only negative, they open at 5 pm for dinner, we arrived approximately 15 minutes early and were told to wait. Noticed later an outside bar, would have been nice if they offered this as an option. With tile floors and high ceilings, the decor is comfortable and welcoming. They also have a small outdoor dining space. We were there for an early dinner so it wasn't crowded; probably much noisier when tables are full. Ordered a couple of specialty cocktails; delicious!! Bartender knows what he's doing! Downside, drink was $19 each, overpriced. Shared a Yuma salad, it was super fresh. The salad could have easily been shared with 4 people, very generous size. Selection for entrees was varied; however, most were too spicy for me. Enjoyed the smash burger with fries and prime rib. Prices are on the upper side, so check the menu online before you come to ensure you'll enjoy your meal. read more

We are staying at the Westin Villas for a few days and ended up at Faro and Brag on two nights. Both nights we had the pleasure of being served by Christian and both nights the service was outstanding. I ordered the 3 bean and feta soup both nights and it was delicious. We also enjoyed the Greek salad and the salmon both nights. The second night we brought our teenage daughter and we split the sourdough boule, which was also really good. It's rare to find a place where everything is so delicious and the service is so good and the atmosphere is so relaxing. Nellie Cashman Had Valentines Day Dinner Experience with a prefix menu. Made reservations through Open Table for the Valentine's Day Experience. Appetizer was a choice of Oysters Duet or Treviso Chopped Salad, we both choose salad. I probably should have ordered the oysters Choice of entrées were Ancho Rubbed 14 oz Prme Rib, Double Cut Kurobuta Pork Loin or Grilled Lobster Tail. We ordered the Ancho Prime Rib and Grilled Lobster Tail. These were both excellent choices and prepared so well. The Ancho Rubbed 14 ounce Prime Rib was a generous cut that seemed to be more like 20 ounces prepared in a Garlic Confit, Black Trumpet Mushrooms and accompanied with a Sage Polenta and Pan Au Jus. Prime Rib was top notch and in a medium rare as requested. Absolutely yummy! The Grilled Lobster Tail was prepared with a Watercress Pesto, served with a Truffle Potato Risotto, Baby Fennel, and Tri Color Romanesco. Lobster Tail was a good size and so tasty. We ended up splitting so we both had Surf and Turf. Oh so good. Dessert was a Chocolate Strawberry Rocca with Bailey's Almande Creme which was tasty. The toffee / Rocca was definitely my favorite. Service from Clifford was top notch, always there to top off our drinks and really never had to ask for much. There was a little snafu between the Open Table listing and what actually was, in the pricing but the Food and Beverage Manager Marco Vinaras took care of the matter by inviting us to breakfast, on the house. read more

We found ourselves alone for the Thanksgiving holiday and made a reservation a Faro & Brag. We had a wonderful dinner. I love Turkey and my husband is a seafood guy, so this was a great choice to make. Be sure to leave room for the desert table, which was totally delectable. Pleasant staff and servers some times but grumpy and inattentive servers at other times... however always terrible food and portions for the price. I ate here twice and got the breakfast buffet...... for $26 it was the worst breakfast of my life. And a "shaved chicken" sandwich (it was low quality deli meat) for a lunch another day. At breakfast they have an omelet area but no one was manning it. Flies were buzzing around the fresh fruit. Foods which were supposed to be crunchy were soggy (bacon) and those which were supposed to be tender (stuffed French toast) were hard and inedible. Food which should have been cold was warm (cottage cheese) and food which should have been hot was lukewarm (potatoes and eggs). Some pastries seemed fresh but others seemed more dry (muffins). For lunch I ordered a soup because the sandwich came with no side on the menu. When it arrived it actually had a flavorless jicama slaw. The chicken club had no "club" like ingredients (no cheese or bacon etc). It had only two slices of tomato, some lettuce and low quality deli meat instead of anything resembling shaved chicken meat. It was very sad for me because I do not eat deli meats because they're so processed. I felt totally lied to by the menu. It was unpleasant. The corn chowder tasted great but I got a small cup in a small bowl and it was $7. Outrageous. Also it said it had chorizo in it but really it was three or four slices of deep fried and rock hard chorizo. Also although I was a party of 1, a tip was added to my lunch and it was much higher than what I felt was reasonable since my server never checked on me after my entree was brought, never brought me any more water or tea, etc. I haven't heard of a server tipping themselves for a party of 1. Very odd. I had food off the pool menu at this resort which was better than these offerings so I can't recommend this restaurant at all. The hotel has shuttle services to nearby shopping areas which have restaurants that have great food so I recommend heading there to eat or lounging by the pool instead. I believe the person in charge of the kitchen should eat a few meals here and pay for them to see if they feel this restaurant is being appropriately maintained. I have had better food from other onsite resort restaurants, so surely they can do better. I have actually had better food on a *ferry* so I KNOW this place can do better. read more

We stopped in after an 'at home' dinner at our room in the Villas across the way because we wanted a bit of dessert. I was interested in something that was on the online menu, but the current menu was different. I ended up ordering the berry creme brulee. I really wanted a crispier bruleed top, and it was a little runny, texture-wise. (Maaaaybe I have been watching too much Great British Bake Off...also I just adore and eat a lot of creme brulees....). But it tasted pretty a-ok! It seemed a little strange to me that the place was basically empty at 6:30-7pm on a friday night. There were certainly more people sitting outside, but it is always weird to me to be the only group in a restaurant. Service was fine. It was all ok. Nothing that made me want to rush back for dinner service. I wouldn't argue though if someone wanted to go here. read more

This restaurant is the only full breakfast spot in the whole hotel. We dined here three times and all three times we found the food to be fresh and nicely presented. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was clean and orderly. Our server was attentive and engaging. For breakfast you have the option of having a full breakfast buffet, continental breakfast buffet or order off of the menu. Each morning we elected to eat the continental breakfast. The thought of a heavy breakfast before going on a hike in temperatures that I would liken to the PITS OF HELL ...didn't seem like a good idea. For not being a 'Steakhouse', they have a really good 14oz Ribeye, although I t resembled a New York! The Stacked Potato Gratin was very good. I think we have been here about 3 times in the past couple of years and our experiences have been 4 and 5 stars. The dining room is nice, and the service has been great. Overall we like Nellie's way more than Deseo. Last time we met friends here for dinner, and then went to the bar for drinks afterwards. We had a great experience. Overall a very good location. I had a prickly pear flavored cocktail to start, followed by a kale salad, and some chicken pot pie. Portions were just about right for a single diner, but probably a bit small for sharing. The chicken pot pie was more like a stew, since it only had a "biscuit crumble" which more like a very sparse layer of breadcrumbs on top, but I did appreciate how garlicky it was. We had a good experience at Nellie Cashman's. Matthew was our server and he took good care of us. He could have been a little prompter with the refills but he did great. The parking charge is $8 but you can get your ticket validated. I had the burger (bunless) and hubby had the meat loaf. They were both good, and the portions were generous. The burger came with big wedge potatoes and they were super tasty, like roasted. I made the mistake of also ordering a Brussel sprouts side with bacon and they were very good as well, and the portion was generous (enough to share)... The sides are charged separate, I think they steaks come with no sides at all. Hubby enjoyed his meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. I had a taste and the texture of the meatloaf was super soft, not sure how to describe it but that came as a surprise. We sat indoors, but later on they had a bagpiper and we could hear him at our table. The Westin is a very nice place to go for a walk after your meal. Overall a pleasant experience. read more

I had the Mother's Day brunch here. The buffet servers were nice but I wish there was more of a selection. You had the breakfast buffet with omelet station, eggs, bacon and sausage. In the other room there were 3 salads, beef, cheeses and crackers, potatoes, vegetables, seafood, oysters and deserts which started to run out at the end. The servers were great, salad was good. The limited selection of food was not worth the $80/pp. There should have been a wider selection of food like a pasta and sushi bar, chocolate fountain, etc. I was hoping it would be a similar experience to Mother's Day Brunch at the Palace Hotel on San Francisco which is huge and elaborate with dim sum, sushi, pasta bar, international foods, chocolate fountains and desert bars. For this price, please expand your food choices. Weird enough there was a mandatory tip of 20% on my bill for ~$50 for a small table. We (SBL & Mini Me and myself) went fancy for a staycation and decided to stay at the Westin Kierland Resort. Wile there we ate at a place called Nellie Cashman's. The place opens at 5:00 pm for dinner, we were the first ones there of course. We were seated in a very nice dining room with a great view of the golf course. We were immediately greeted with our awesome server for the night, I am pinching myself for not remembering her name. She took our orders and told us about some items that were not on the menu for kids even. We ordered, and soon after we were given a basket of bread and... Not regular bread, but fancy bread as Mini Me said. The bread and the schmear that came with was delightful . We talked and drank and finished our bread. We waited and waited and waited some more, did I mention that we waited? Finally, just as we were going to say something our soup and salad came. SBL ordered the beef barley soup which reminded him of his childhood days. I ordered a salad that had roasted tomatoes and cheese and had an excellent house dressing mix. We finished our starters barely before the main course came. SBL ordered the New York strip and mashed potatoes. MM ordered a personal sausage pizza and chicken strips, and I ordered the campfire chicken which came with roasted brussel sprouts and scalloped potatoes. After waiting a crazy long time for our food, and only being the 3rd party in there at that time now, we were disappointed that our food was cold. We told our server our mashed potatoes, the sausage pizza and my brussels were cold and my chicken was super dry. Hugely disappointing but she was good to us and brought hot potatoes and brussels and didn't charge us for the pizza. She took off 20% of the bill which was thoughtful. We were just excited to try Nellie Cashman's, we had been looking forward to it; we typically don't eat that fancy so it was kind of a big deal and an even more of a let down.
