AutoNation Subaru promised 2 days but it turned out they hadn't ordered the radio and it would take 7-10 business days, so--for the first time ever--we took it to Kevin at API for the routine stuff and would take it back to AutoNation for the radio another time. We dropped it off June 23 and would pick it up June 29 (which we did.) Drove it home (~5 miles) and it sat until Tuesday at 4:30 a.m. when my wife went to work. The car started shimmying and a burning smell and grinding sound came out from under the hood. She pulled over as the car lost power and the car wouldn't stop rolling in Park; used emergency brake and towed it back to API that morning (June 30). Kevin diagnosed the outback needed a new transmission but denied any culpability, saying instead this is a dealership problem and try to con them into extending the warranty. Towed it to Catonsville Subaru and we have their video diagnostic and written report stating the differential assembly was empty of fluid and the transmission was filled with differential fluid. It cost almost $20K to repair the damage and Kevin and API (with his son and daughter) refuse to respond. I hate to spend $10K to recover $20K but they are leaving us no choice. I've mailed hardcopies, sent email requesting "read receipts (APISOUTH@YAHOO.com) but they immediately delete them without reading. API has their folksy "aw shucks, I'm just one o' ya'll" routine down pat but it's shadier than Trump bitcoin. I recommend avoiding this place like the plague.

I called Expert Auto Repair & Tires and spoke to Olivia and said the price would be $20 and take 5 mins. I went to the location where I was greeted immediately. Oscar had me pull my car up and he plugged the tire right on the spot! I wasn't there for more than 10 mins between getting the tire plugged and paying. Both Olivia and Oscar were very nice and made sure the service was completed to my satisfaction before I paid. The only thing I will say was it was too much air in the tire compared to the other 3 but it was nothing to just let some out. I brought brand new custom tires and wheels to the shop. The tires and wheels were already mounted…read moreand balanced, all that was needed was for Seabrook Auto Clinic to install them. There was an issue with the wheels not having hubrings so they were unable to install them. I ordered the hubrings and took my vehicle back for installation. Seabrook Auto Clinic installed my tires and wheels and I drove away. Hours after the install, my drivers front tire rolled off while I was driving down the highway causing me to swerve onto the highway shoulder. My vehicle was damaged, my rotor and studs were broken, and of course the brand new wheel and tire was missing. Seabrook Auto clinic claimed that they were not at fault or liable, which is strange as they were the last to install wheels and tires on my vehicle, and it was only hours after they installed them that the wheel rolled off. Eventually, after much going back and forth, and me getting my insurance company involved, Hassan, the manager was gracious enough to start the repairs on my vehicle out of pocket. The owner refuses to give me his business insurance information, or certificate of insurance, nor is he willing to pay for the damages. He said "as a courtesy I will cover HALF of your damages." Half, why not full since this was 100% their fault? Even though Hassan was able to get my car fixed, Seabrook Auto Clinic did not go through their insurance company to file the claim correctly, everything was done under the table, and off the books as to, in the words of Hassan "avoid our insurance premium from rising". The owner still refuses to pay to replace the missing wheel and tire, and now my insurance company is threatening to un-insure me because the work done was not performed to standard utilizing a warranty backed by an insurance company in the event that my vehicle has trouble in the future. So now I may be without vehicle insurance, and I also have to pay out of pocket to replace the wheel and tire that is missing. This could have been way more serious had another vehicle been on the highway with me. I didn't ask for compensation for personal injury, or pain and suffering, all I asked was for them to pay to repair my vehicle, and replace the missing wheel and tire. If anyone knows how I can get Seabrook Auto Clinics insurance information that would be great, as I now have to sue the business for negligence. This all could have been avoided had Seabrook Auto Clinic taken responsibility and filed the claim through their insurance to cover the repairs and damages. I read some of the reviews here and all I have to say is that cars are expensive. You get what you…read morepay for when you elect to do service with anyone. If you let them do their job and they give you a quote , you have e the choice to do it or don't. I've worked on diesel trucks for a majority of my life and newer gas vehicles are just not my thing. I took my 2012 Tahoe here for an accelerator position sensor problem. When reviewing it they told me the voltage correlation was off and that's what was causing the code, the suggested fix per their research and mechanic was to swap the pedal with a new sensor in. Did that and the code came back, but you know what I didn't do? Whine about it . I came back and talked with the service advisors. They rolled the previous diag cost in to another diag. Eventually after a lot of digging , and even breaking out an oscilloscope they found the problem was 2 pins in the connector to the computer not passing signal correctly. They re-pinned the bad pins and I haven't had a problem since. Since then they have done a full exhaust on this vehicle, and update to my corvette, a full exhaust, brakes, parking brake, boost tubes and intercooler, and headlight install on my f250, custom exhaust on my Cadillac. Not to mention countless odds and ends on these vehicles. If you think you know better than a person who does this work on what your car needs, do it yourself. You have the option to ignore any suggested maintenance they suggest. You also have an option to work with them and identify priority items. Here's a great example, the turbo in my f250 is going to eventually ceap the bed. When working on it they discovered oil in the charge pipe which is a tell tale sign that oil is getting passed through the turbo and. Collecting in the charge pipe. Diagnoses says replace the turbo. However I asked ... how much time do I have ? How bad is it? Knowing damn well the answer as I previously stated .... I've worked in diesels for years. They said depending on use it could be 6 months or two years. They also said that if it fails it will ruin the motor. They are correct on all of those statements. Turbos aren't cheap, the labor associated with a turbo change is t cheap because the process states to lift the cab off the frame ... so I developed a plan. I got the part number they suggested for. Remanufactured turbo, and a new o e m replacement. I started pricing it out and found what I wanted is an upgrade. They are set to do the upgrade in the near future. They didn't try and swindle me or upsell me on ball joints or something I didn't need. Now I have a level of trust in them to even do upgrades to my vehicles as requested. Again I can't say this enough... car maintenance is not cheap. If you get it cheap you will have more problems. If you ignore suggested maintenance and don't at least ask if something is critical to the safety and function of your vehicle ....you are going to have a bad time. You have options, we are in America . If you think you know better , can do better , or are being oversold .... Do the work yourself. This is skilled trade work not swiping groceries over a barcode scanner.

Within 2 hours he called me saying I need $800 repair for brake leak, my caliper, brake hose and parking brake motor needs replacing. My pregnant wife went to pick up our car and Rafael started harassing her for $60 diagnostic fee. I would have loved to pay $60 fee had anyone told me about it. Not mentioned even once, when I was there to drop off my car. I refused on the phone. Told my wife to never come there. This is the reason why shops get a bad name. Rafael was on the phone the entire time I talked to him. He doesn't want this job. Took the car to another shop down the road, guess what only thing that was needed to be replaced was a single caliper. $225 job only and they bled the brakes and everything. Avoid this place.
