    Very quaint and cozy.

I had the avocado toast with scrambled eggs on top and it was amazing!!!! The combination of avocado with feta was wonderful. Service is fantastic. Highly recommend this place if you're ever in New Glarus!

    I had the Harvest Benny!

This coffee house rocks! It's located in what I assume was the old railroad station right on the bike path (former railroad tracks). They serve Ancora coffee, and the baristas know how to make whatever coffee concoction you desire. We had 2 iced mochas, and they were fabulous! We also shared a fresh muffin, a yogurt parfait, and an oatmeal. What a lovely breakfast. Was I tempted by all the cookies, pies, and cupcakes....YES. Just yes. This coffee shop would be an excellent stop for an afternoon pick-me-up. May have to follow my own advice and come back soon!

Stopped at Fat Car Coffee Works on a busy Sunday morning. It took 30 mins for my black coffee and my friends cold brew to be made. Coffee tasted fine but the wait was frustrating.

These three things totaled to $30. Overpriced turkey wrap, breakfast burrito, and turnover.

To start, the atmosphere was adorable! However, all of the food in this photo was $30. It was extremely overpriced for what you got. The turkey wrap was so simple, yet it was $12 with no side. The pastry (in the middle) was delicious! So if you're looking for a lunch spot - don't come here. But if you're looking for coffee and a scone, this might be the place to check out!

    Fresh baked goodies!

I really, REALLY like this place. The atmosphere is top-notch, the food is made from scratch, and it's damn good too. Nestled within a totally revamped train depot, it feels like that down-home place we all dream about as adults (you know, that kinda place where they know your face and have your coffee ready before you need to ask? yeah, that kinda place). I had the special--a spinach/mushroom scramble that tasted like something my dad would make on the weekends we were on vacation--the kind that tastes delicious because someone took time on it, added just the right amount of seasoning and then just a pinch of love, besides. I also enjoyed a cup of marshmallow (yeah, I know--no judging lol) cappuccino. It was also delicious. This place is charming AF, and the staff seem pretty amazing. I'm looking forward to getting to know them well.

**July 2025: Late Morning Visit**…read more Spotted Cow! The city of New Glarus is basically a Spotted Cow destination! Wherever you go most restaurants will serve this beer, which is very malty. This beer is only available in Wisconsin but if you want the seasonal stuff visiting the New Glarus Gift shop will give you the most options Tuesday-Saturday: 10am-5pm I think the tasting option is $8 for 3 pours. It's a good way to try out all the different options before deciding on which bottles (or cans) you want to buy. The Stone Soup (Seasonal) was my favorite, but you can't go wrong with the original Spotted Cow. I think the majority of the seasonal beers were in bottles. I think they come in packs of either 4 or 6. The prices here are pretty comparable to if you buy them from a Wisconsin Target, but the big box stores have less variety. Since I was doing a big cross country roadtrip my weight allowance could not' accommodate everything I wanted *cries* and they don't ship their booze *cries* Next time I come back I'll make sure to make bring an empty suitcase! If you're visiting New Glarus your trip won't be complete without a visit to the factory (gift shop)!

I've been to a lot of craft breweries, and I have to say this is now one of my all-time favorites. The concept is simple but awesome this isn't your typical bar. There's no indoor seating, but there's plenty of outdoor space on the other side of the parking lot. You come inside, pay $8 for a beer, and get to keep the glass. Or you can sample three beers for $8, keep the glass, and get a coin for a free beer in town. They also sell beer to go and other fun merch with their logo. The staff was super nice and friendly, and the vibe was relaxed and welcoming. I tried the Oktoberfest, the Pilsner, and the totally naked. All were fantastic! If you're anywhere near the area, definitely stop by you won't regret it.

Tucked I a cozy house, the Sow's Ear is part coffee shop part knitting craft store. They offer a variety of knitting classes and community offerings under this roof. It was bustling with warm energy during both of my visits. They sell baked goods form Madison Sourdough Company, a variety of coffee and tea drinks along with a few gift items like jams, coffee beans, and earrings. We ordered the protein oatmeal topped with walnuts and pumpkin seeds (twice since it was so good- and healthy) and the toast with rhubarb jam. On one of the visits they were willing to make cinnamon toast for my sister who was sick at the hotel with the flu. A family comfort food. There are way too many affordable and cute places nearby to give the eatery another go. The prices are steep, especially for what you get. I ordered the brocolli cheese quiche, which literally had no cheese! The salad was ok, not very substantial -- it was only greens and no veggies. My sister ordered a sandwich and chips, which looked like less than a half order from Panera for double the price. Drinks were the most affordable option but still over $3 for a simple tea or coffee no frills.
