Good morning and welcome to another edition of Mañana Café ABQ. Today, we report on our first visit to the 12th Street Tavern. What a great place! We enjoyed a variety of different entrees, although many of us chose the weekly special, the Shrimp Po'Boy. It was great. Excellent, friendly service and lots of tchotchkes inside to entertain and enhance the ambiance. 12th Street Tavern is conveniently located at 12th St NW and Menaul Blvd NW, across from the new location of La Montanita Co-op and Mama's Minerals. Plenty of free parking and easy access to a relatively new restaurant you will enjoy. Just click on the following YouTube video link to see what we thought. https://youtu.be/APsSYdxPOcE?si=P1vlzjAMkFKWKrNf

I drive past 12th Street Tavern regularly and finally decided to try them. I was greeted and seated quickly and my server was friendly and helpful. I had a good burger with smoked cheddar and BBQ sauce plus a side of tasty sweet potato fries. The iced tea was fresh and flavorful. The space is pretty open but wasn't overly noisy even though they were busy.

I was going to go someplace else but said it is across the parking lot I'll try it. My mistake again!! They try, they do. But they never follow through. A simple lemonade took about 10 minutes. Wow. Now let's see about the food. Inside is nice. Seems people are here relaxing. They did put a soccer game on which is a plus. Food was good but after a few the server went down hill. Asked a couple of times if needed anything then spent her time talking to other workers and forgot Albuquerque turkey was the tasty. Chili was not hot but has a slight kick to it. Get the flavored lemonade it comes with a popsicle. This is the second time I have been here, tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but no service is slow if you are not a regular. Really had high hopes for this place

They have a decent menu with a variety of options for everyones taste buds. They have indoor and outdoor seating with tvs inside for all the sports watchers.

I stopped in for lunch and ordered fried pickles to go. Unfortunately, they arrived soggy in their container. Despite this, the soggy fried pickles were still good and flavorful, but they definitely needed more frying. The restaurant's entrance was welcoming, and the decor was tasteful, featuring the number 12 and creating a pleasant ambiance with its light fixtures.

I want to start up with saying I love the area and that they have a nice patio section. I went with some friends for dinner on Friday night, and we tried a variety of things, including the fried chicken sandwich, a burger, and wings. I personally got the buffalo fried chicken sandwich and overall it was good. The fries were a little soggy and not exactly my favorite but it wasn't a meal by any means. Service was friendly but slow and it felt like we had to do a lot of corrections. Oh well, everything ended well.

Green Chile burger was cooked to perfection as I asked for medium. Yum!

Food was fantastic! Adan is a wonderful server and very good with people. Adan ... Just make sure next time when you add $ on a special sauce and charge the guests, you make them aware of said idem. Idk what it was even. Thank you for the wonderful experience while we quickly passed through your city

Beautiful restaurant and patio... They have those cool garage doors which turn the space from indoor to outdoor. Sonia took good care of us and provided great service. We tried the nachos with chicken, which were delicious and my favorite. I had the Philly cheese steak with a salad. The salad was colorful and a decent size. The Philly was decent, could've used more meat and mushrooms. It was alright, it'd give it a 3.

After a long day of travel, I placed an online order for a late lunch. Online ordering was really easy, food was hot and ready very quickly. They provided utensils so I could take it back and eat in my hotel room. The sandwich was huge and delicious. And I'm always a sucker for sweet potato fries - especially when they come with a yummy dipping sauce!

All staff were very nice and kind. Even with a small selection of beer, their choices are solid with lager, red ale, stout, IPA, a rich Scotch ale, some ciders, and some seasonal picks. For our food, we ordered The King's Fish and Chips (half) and the Brewer's Beef. The King's Fish and Chips had a big piece of fried salmon that flavorful with a nice crunchy breading. On the other hand, the Brewer's beef was scant in roast beef and plentiful with grilled onions and a sharp horseradish. While the King's was wonderful, the Brewer's was unfortunate. Overall, this was a mixed experience with one good and one not-so-good experience at a place that is inviting and fun.

Sunday Lunch at O'Neil's - Ticket #27…read more Our Sunday lunch at O'Neil's started promisingly but unfortunately fell short on service follow-through. We were seated quickly at 12:05, and our server promptly took our order and brought water, noting that our food would be "out right away." That seemed reasonable, as both items we ordered -- the corned beef and the turkey jack sandwich -- are typically straightforward and quick to prepare. However, the timing unfolded quite differently. By 12:20, one of our glasses was empty, and no straw had been provided despite an earlier request. When the server checked in, I asked again for a water refill and the straw; both were finally delivered, along with another assurance that our food was "coming right out." At 12:30 -- twenty-five minutes after ordering -- the server again repeated that phrase, only this time adding that "some things take longer than others," even though tables seated after us were already eating. Our meals finally arrived at 12:45 -- nearly forty minutes after ordering. To the restaurant's credit, both dishes were excellent: the corned beef was tender and juicy, and the turkey jack sandwich tasted freshly made and served hot. But while the kitchen clearly delivered on quality, the front-of-house experience did not match that same care. The repeated "right away" comments, the lack of proactive attention, and the absence of even a brief apology for the delay made the experience feel inattentive.O'Neil's has great food potential, but stronger time management and more genuine communication from servers would make a world of difference.

Not that a pub doesn't serve food, but it's not a pub and feels more like a heartless corporate pub too. Like an airport lounge. With a patio... a peaceful patio against the street... The stranded bartender alone behind the bar looks to you panicked, as you enter the restaurant area looking past the two and four tops to the bar stools. His frustration is almost palpable as I found a seat. He said something as he presented 3 different menus... wondering why he didn't great me and asked if I was there for dinner or happy hour? One question that would have eliminated his overwhelmed-ness, an provide the guest (me) with a simple choice. Anyhow... I got a beer. A Guinness. And I left after. This is not a pub.
