We had planned a bigger trip, but recovery being what it is, we vacationed here. These folks, both in the hotel and the lounge, became our family. I really wanted a place with atmosphere and wine and write my book, and I got both -- I'm surprised I did not drink them out of Malbec. I would come up at 8 pm -- they would pour my Malbec the minute I stepped out of the elevator and take me to my favorite spot on the rooftop. Thanks to Dora, Megan, Rose and Quinn, especially, and the rest of the staff. Spending a week up there on the rooftop, I saw my share of hipsters coming for a night out, which is great. But I also know there are those looking for a much-needed break from the daily grind through the week, someplace to have a cocktail and prepare yourselves for the rest of the week. This is your place, and these are your people. There is so much unrealized potential here. These are great people, and I want to thank them for making our week special. Being seated toward the back gave us an uninterrupted view of the setting sun, which made the whole experience feel memorable. Since we had already eaten dinner, we kept it light and ordered the mezze charcuterie board along with a few drinks. Both alcoholic and non, the drinks were well made! The food was also just right for our appetite, a few dips, some veggies, and a little spanakopita. They may rotate some of the selections seasonally, so it may be different in the future. Service was wonderful, and we never felt rushed in our time there. The design was beautiful and they let the scenery do a lot of the talking. It's definitely intentionally designed for hanging out. Most of the food menu is little bites, and they do have mocktails for those who don't drink much. It was a beautiful experience and I would absolutely come here again if we lived in the area!

The citrus was definitely citrus and refreshing. The pot star martini was very funny and fun to drink, wirh a lot of tropical flavors, but it was not as fun as the glittery cosmo. As a snack, the birria fries were a good compliment, quite delicious with enough birria. Overall, it is no surprise that Happy Accidents is one of the best bars known the US. The food is hit and miss. -Pigs' ears were incredible, fried mushrooms were not (heavy on the breading and mushrooms were impossible to taste). -The multitude of pickles are fun but sometimes overwhelm the palate and risk becoming a schtick. -The chicken liver pâté (actually a parfait) was good flavor-wise but wasn't emulsified properly (grainy) and was served too cold (and therefore hard) rather than at room temperature where it would be rich and creamy. -While I understand that it's easier to manage, I'd have liked to see some fresh bread as an alternative to the croutons. The salumi were likewise hit-and-miss. -The bresaola (a hard one to hit on) was overly salty, a little too dried, and should have been cut paper thin on the slicer rather than thickish slices offered. -The salami was very good -The fries had excellent flavor but it would be nice to see them achieve better crisp (thrice-fried) and little less salt (something that comes up a little often throughout). Having said all this, the chef is having fun in the kitchen, experimenting, and coming up with some ingenious items and combinations. So I'd like to see more consistency but there was enough to choose from that I will definitely go back.
