We came here as out of towners looking for some local flair. What a hidden gem! The Copper Lounge is attached to Los Conejos which is a tequila focused cocktail spot. The Copper Lounge had incredibly unique cocktails and the service was unmatched. We sat at the bar and were so impressed by the cocktail menu - what a creative concept! Cole and Taiya were behind the bar and did a phenomenal job in their craftsmanship but also as conversationalists! They deserve to be recognized. Not only did they work hard but they were very friendly and extremely knowledgeable of the spirits they were serving. We didn't try to food here, but several excellent cocktails that didn't disappoint! I hope for another trip back to ABQ so I can stop in and check out the latest inventive cocktails. Went for a happy hour after work and I loved the ambiance! Dark and cozy with a speakeasy vibe. Once I entered it was easy to forget it was still sunny and hot outside. The menu was listed as cast of characters/script, which was lots of fun. Our group was about 20 people, which I'm sure was a challenge, but our server was great and kept us all with full glasses and no waiting. There is a small parking lot with free parking. It was full by the time I got there, but it was easy and free to park on the street nearby. They had a great selection of local beer, wine and creative cocktails. I had a bad day today. And this place made it all better. Joanna and Amiel (might have spelled that wrong) were bartending tonight and they were great. Friendly service. I was recommended the tacos for taco Tuesday. $2 tacos and they were . They're small. But the flavors are all there. I don't typically like Birria style tacos but they weren't too greasy. When they came out, Joanna explained the tacos (evident between red meat and shrimp but still a nice touch!) and also described the sauces and its origins. Glad I stopped in. I had not been to this place for many years. It used to be a dive bar for unm students. It was redone apparently 7 or 8 years ago and is a cool place to go too. When you go in the entrance the bar is to the left and is now kinda of a speakeasy. It's dark, nicely done, music playing and fancy cocktails being made. They don't have a huge menu but you can get some appetizers, sandwiches, etc. We had some non traditional nachos which were very good. The service was also very good. When we left the bar, I checked out the restaurant that was to the right when you walked into the front door of the Copper Lounge. It's has a very nice ambiance and it's not dark like the bar was next door. Don't have any other info on it but looked very nice. I was in town for work and found myself out of options for late-night food near my hotel when I got done. However, during a quick Yelp search, I came across the Copper Lounge and found myself a new favorite restaurant! The moment I walked in I got an old timey speakeasy vibe. The entrance is unassuming with a huge cool door off to the back of a non we'll lit room that says "shhh." Such fun intrigue! Once inside I was transported to a Gatsby-eque error with checkered black-and-white tile and bright metal star ceiling lights. Stunning! When I walked in, it must have been late enough that they let me sit wherever I wanted. I noticed they have reservations on Resy, so that it always an option, too. The bartender and server were super nice and welcoming. My server helped me through the dinning experience and she gave me all fabulous suggestions' During my dinner, I had two drinks: the Kentucky Ninja and the Indian Army. From whiskey to gin...they were both so different and both so delicious. Crafted with delightful and creative flavors, I couldn't pick a favorite. When I go back, I'll have to get both! For food, I started with 3 Bistec tacos. Oh my goodness they were perfect: crispy, bursting with flavor, and great portions. However, the food, drink, and atmosphere were so great, I decided to get more. I went ahead and ordered the pork lumpia. I'm so glad that I did. So crunchy, savory, and filling! I ended the night full, but not unpleasantly. I had a fabulous dinning experience at the Copper Lounge and I will definitely prioritize it the next time I am Albuquerque! I love Copper Lounge! I have yet to try Founder's, but Copper Lounge serves some of the best cocktails in Albuquerque. My number one favorite cocktail here is the Indian Army. I brought a friend with me and she loved it so much she ordered another. Great intimate environment perfect for date night or a night out with friends. Right across the hallway is a newer part of the bar focusing on tequilas I believe? I haven't experienced it yet because I end up sucked into the allure of copper lounge. 110% recommend Copper Lounge for cocktails. This is one of the classiest places in Albuquerque. It is hidden in an old building on Central near the hospital and Route 66 Diner. If you're driving east and pass this place, then you are really going to miss out! Finding this was like finding a true gem! I had a vesper and our friends had gimlets and old fashioneds. The presentation of the drinks and food were stellar, the food was amazing . Wow! What a cool find! A whole lot bigger than I was expecting! The bar has to seat at least 20-25 people with tables and booths adding to the seating. There is a second side (I didn't peak in), so I'm not sure how big that side is... sorry! All I was missing was the cigarette smoke, jazz band, and the flapper dresses! I really felt like I was walking into a jazz club in the 20s. Such a cool vibe! The atmosphere is so laid back and chill. They do have a small parking lot, but I would imagine the street parking could be a bit tricky. Drinks? Drinks galore! Hand crafted cocktails are their specialty (tequila bar right next door and it looks like they are expanding and putting in a huge outdoor space). I'm excited to make a return trip! read more

I've never really been to a place where the bar food can keep up with the quality drinks, I had to choose between one or the other, but not this place! The food was so. dang. good. First of all, if you have parmasean truffle fries on the menu, that's already a win in my book. It was the most addicting thing to snack on. Pulling into the parking lot, filled with pick up trucks, I was totally prepared to be walking into a dive bar. Having flown from Detroit earlier in the afternoon, I was starving and at 9 PM on a Monday, the options were limited. Imagine my surprise when I walked into an elegant dining room with lush booths, a gorgeous bar and an elegant décor reminiscent of to roaring 20's. A speakeasy vibe with a lot of glam. And a total sausage fest, if you can call the 2 or three groups of guys at the bar totaling all of 7 people other than my friend and I a "fest" of any kind. We order their take on a Paloma, a smoking, slightly spicy version that I didn't love but also didn't hate. There were hints of what tasted like ginger to me, which is not something I typically love. For nourishment we split the Copper burger and the nachos and I have to say they both hit the spot. I then ordered a dirty martini and my friend got a glass of bubbles. My only issue was that mine didn't come in a classic martini glass, but they had them and her bubbles came in a wine glass, not a coupe or a flute which would have been more on brand for the vibe of this place. It was really, really quiet on a Monday night but our server was really friendly and gave us some ideas of things to check out around town. She didn't make us feel rushed but at the end, when we were ready to cash out, we ended up going to the bar to take care of our bill. The entrance is in the corner of the parking lot, not street side and it isn't very clear where to go which may be intentional but also lent to a feeling of it being unsafe. The Copper Lounge is...okay. I came here with my girlfriend one evening. It's a very hipster place, with all the costs associated. The clientele is mostly young couples where you just know that the guy will be eating ramen noodles for the next week in order to be able to pay for this date, and in the hopes of getting laid. The drinks are fine. Nothing to write home about. And about 150% of what you'll pay anywhere else in ABQ. I can't speak about the food as I didn't order any, but again for the cost, it better be epic (I kinda doubt it is though). Ultimately, it's a kinda fun place to go get a cocktail, but I wouldn't spend all night here unless you're independently wealthy or have a great trust fund. read more

My gal had told me to stop into this place(she had to leave town early), so on a Thursday I drove over to check it out. When I parked outside I honestly wasn't sure I was at the right place. It looks like a older building that might be a garage or warehouse. With a little walking around I found the entrance. I walked into a place that was designed with elegance and coolness in mind. Some chill jazz was playing, and just a few people were around. I was there early, maybe 6PM so I know I had beat the crowd(which I had done on purpose). I had a place to get to so I had hoped to get a quick drink. As I sat down the bartender was in front of me dropping a napkin and asked what I want. They didn't have a margarita on the menu but they had a special one called the Tommy that she made. It was excellent, and went down quick, so I asked her what she would like to make. She made a copper cocktail that was good, but the presentation was fantastic. With the accent lighting in the darkened lounge the copper chalice really beamed. This lounge might not look like much from the outside but the inside is all 1920's speakeasy glam with a fancy cocktail menu to match! Love this lounge for intimate conversations, AMAZEBALLS specialty cocktails, and marvelous ambience. My heart is wooed by any other era but the current one, so any time I can step into a well-designed anachronism, the little thing just melts. The only reason it gets four-not-five stars is because my experience with the menu is that it is relatively shallow. I loved the menu that the previous Copper served up, so it was a bit disappointing to be limited by the the new one. Still, if you're looking for a little giggle water and at all delighted by speakeasy fashion and antiquity, you'll undoubtedly love this place. Just bring some real mazuma to throw down. Ok coming from LA and the hipster setting of the west coast this fun spot can compete with the best of them. The staff is amazing. Attentive, knowledgeable about the food and the drinks and extremely friendly. Started with the Rabble Rouser and the Fixicillin with the Beef Barria tacos. Stellar and so much flavor and complexity. Next round was more traditional with the Italian Stallion and the Indian Army with the chicken skewers. Fun twist on an old fashion. The Indian Army was just creamy, lush and full of layers. This was once a great dive bar with excellent food, but has now morphed into a lackluster pretentious hipster hangout with overpriced drinks and unappetizing menu. From the friendly staff that greeted you as you came in to the new staff who only talk amongst themselves when they aren't playing with their phones.
