Picture it! Fat Harry's, 1996, it's 1:30am, i was skinny with a full head of hair wearing a Tommy Hilfiger shirt tucked into my tight rolled Girbauds while drinking a Zima. Fast forward to 2026 Picture it! It's 11:00am, i have a dad bod, bald and in a t-shirt, joggers and comfortable shoes. Until today, 1996 was the last time i visited Fat Harry's. I am on a wing kick lately so i figured i would stop in for lunch, have a beer and some wings. The super nice bartender hands me a menu and gets me a beer with the quickness. I see wings on the menu are "market price". WTF!?!? Are wings lobster now? I mean does the wing market fluctuate that much that we have to adjust on a daily basis?!? Seems ridiculous. Any way i ordered my 10 market price buffalo wings (by the way it was 1.60 per wing which seems a tad high but not too crazy) and they were solid, not quite as crisp as i would prefer but had good flavor. Also the drum stick to flat ratio was off. I got like 8 drumsticks to 2 flats! Thats not cool. Im a flats guy so it's got to 5 to 5 or heavy on flats! Thats me just being nit-picky. There were 2 guys that for some reason congregated behind me. (It was almost empty inside, why they couldn't find another corner is beyond me) They were bro'ing it up talking about 10's rubbing them down with aloe. These guys looked more like 2026 me so maybe they were reminiscing about the 1996 versions of themselves too. Been here twice - first time trying food - ordered buffalo wings, Korean chicken sandwich and cheesy tots. Order at the bar and take a seat! Bartenders are always friendly. Drinks are cold and the food is decent bar food. The wings were good - I like them (not breaded) tossed in buffalo sauce. The ranch and blue cheese are good too! Cheese tots were good when hot - when they cooled down it was a little hard to eat without a fork. Korean chicken sandwich was messy but really good. Fat Harry's is a godsend for much of the year! 1. Right off the streetcar line, so it's an easy stop. Also lots of street parking nearby, so it's easy enough to drive there (season dependent) 2. At the corner towards the beginning of the parade route. Great place to get a wrist band to during Mardi Gras and go in for a drink or a rest stop. 3. The bar food is pretty solid. Great place to watch the Buffalo Bills game! (Even though there is no Buffalo Bills decor on walls there were at least 150 Bills fans) Upon entering the bar it looks small but when you go in there is actually a back room that has a lot more space and TVs. The bartenders are awesome! Food I had the chicken and pickle sliders they were ok the chicken was a bit smaller then the bun ( I took the top bun off and it was better) We also had the quesadilla it was so super greasy we didn't finish it. For a sports bar, this place is literally ideal! Great divey ambiance with tons of TVs, and they blast the main game audio do you know what's going on and can really get into it. Pls ty of searing and several bartenders. You order from the bar and take a number to your table if you order food-which is awesome by the way and highly recommend! We went for Monday night football and I will say the specials are clutch. Cheap pitchers, we got a pitcher (4 full pint glasses) of Abita amber for $6.75 (less than $2 a beer?!) For food, we got the wedge salad which was yummy and fresh with huge pieces of freshly cooked bacon pieces, and fried pickle chips to start (delish and tangy). Then we got the wings ($10 for 10 or $20 for 20 - favorite sauce was chef's special which was a bbq/Buffalo combo), and the slider combo with chips (fat's double was an awesome juicy cheesy mini double cheeseburger, the Korean chicken wasn't my favorite, and the chips while good were super thin so would prob just get the fries next time). Thank Christ, appearently all those assholes from 2021 have been fired. I rolled into Fat Harry's tonight for dinner and was delighted to hear some genuinely kick ass music from the 1970s and 1980s including Led Zeppelin, Billy Joel and The Allman Brothers. The food was great. It was a Tuesday, so domestic beers were just $2.00. The place was packed with fellow locals; there were tables of people in the back, playing cards. Oh, and everyone was singing along to the music. Seriously. I left a fat 20% tip for the bartender. I will be back often. Likely the shitheads who used to work there have found new careers with one of the airlines or working at the DMV. read more

We came to Fat Harry's on the 4th of July as one of the only places that was open. We came during the Bud Light pitcher happy hour and also ordered food. Between us, we tried a bunch of things- cheese fries, corn dogs, sliders, chicken BLTs, and a burger. Honestly the highlight of mine was the homemade Bleu cheese and pitchers. We went with four starts because the food all came out at once and the bacon had an odd color to it. Overall, the food was fairly cheap and so were the drinks. It's a good spot to hit when you're in the market for bar food and an easy place to chill. It was fairly quiet and low key through the whole experience! Definitely will be back. read more

Probably the worst bar meal I've ever had. Ordered to go, and usually if the bar is backed up, I'd figured they would say we aren't taking orders right now or it would be a long wait. No, she took my order and told me 20 mins. I got there exactly at 20 mins and proceeded to wait for another 20 mins. I swear they just took the fried pickles (and the oil it was fried in) and dumped it into the to-go container. The chicken sandwich was dry and our fries were freezing. I usually never give out bad bad reviews but even the service was poor. I had four boxes and she told me i had to take it like this because she didn't have bags. For me to be writing this 1000 word essay on this beautiful Monday and being from New Orleans i must really feel some type of way about the shitty experience i had on Sunday. I have been to Fat Harry's many of times for a quick togo drink and never had a problem but yesterday (10/11) took the cake. We entered around 6pm and waited to be seated like the sign says. As we stood there a male bartender and female server looked at us and continued doing whatever task they was doing and finally came over. I was a little annoyed about how long it took to be acknowledged but its a bar that i have been to before and just took this incident for face value. The server told us to sit where ever we liked. I didn't want to take up the last 6top so we sat at the last 2top that was in a awkward spot. We eventually just moved to the side room that was empty but at least we had a huge projector screen to ourselves to watch part of the NBA finals. Another female server (thin with glasses) came over and took our drink order and delivered the drinks promptly. I asked for a menu but Fat Harry's is doing the QR code. After waiting 10-15 mins and no one came by my cousin asked where the server was so we could order food but i told him she's coming just give her some time. Side note: Im a server that has been in the Nola hospitality industry for over 10 years... I will always look the other way and take up for my fellow comrades no matter what because its in my blood. After waiting another 5 or so mins i finally got up and looked for someone. I saw some guy that looked like the manager sitting talking to our server ( her backed was towards me). I waived slowly to get his attention and he just slowly waived back. YEET!. I wasnt expecting that, it caught me off guard and it just got awkward real quick. As i walked away i heard him tell someone to come over to the table but at this point i was just ready to go somewhere else. The bartender came over and i just asked for the check. He tried to make small talk to get a feel for the situation but i wasnt working. The bill was $9.50 for two drinks and i wanted to not leave a tip but i couldnt... not even on my worst day so i left $1.50. As we walked out someone yelled "yall leaving? I guess im going to be the only black person in here.".......................... ................. .............. .... I *think* it was the bartender who said it, i never looked back to see who it was. It was also weird because we was the only African Americans in the establishment besides the cook. This situation just left a sour taste in my mouth and i will never come back because we have too many bars in Nola to deal with bs. Best wings in NOLA. Service is pretty good and bartenders are attentive. It's got a cool dive bar feel to it and is great for watching sports events. Fat Harry's has been around for as long as I can remember and it looks wonder after the fire. I can remember passing by this place as a student at De La Salle thinking, I can't wait I until I'm old enough to get into that place. Well I went to Howard in DC and found an alternative watering hole but Fat Harry's is a college bar and it's the place to be for parades. This is really nice bar. The drinks I had were great and the prices were reasonable. In the back room was a pool table, shuffle board, and video games. They also offer burger, fries and wings. The crowd in the bar tends to be in its early to mid twenties. The bar is large and spacious. read more

It is a notch above the TJ Quills of the college bar mundo. Let's rewind, oh, five years (or maybe more, sigh) back to when I was a Midori sour-drinking college girl, I'd totally bring my parents here to drink with me. I realize the fact that I was once the type who ordered Midori sours may give you pause, 'specially if you read about all my fancy cocktail drinking ways, but it's true. We can't all be *born* with good taste. I was once an NYU girl (which is probably similar to a Tulane girl, only with a snottier attitude and a penchant for staying out all night in underground nightclubs) and wet behind the ears. You couldn't order wine coolers in bars back in those days, so... Midori. And Fuzzy Navels. God help me. OK that's quite enough stumbling down memory lane. Getting back to the compliment I'm trying to give Fat Harry's, grown-ups can and do seem to rub elbows with the young 'uns here. And it's not weird. I saw folks of all ages and those who seemed to be parental types, hanging out and having a good time. The ambiance: TVs everywhere, wood paneling, basic basic. Nice front patio, though. Nothing memorable. But it's clean. And not full of classless dolts taking a piss with the door open, so at least there's that! read more

Absolute hands down my favorite bar in New Orleans! Being from up north I need to find a place that has NHL coverage and they sure do. A lot of people stop in from all over the place. Great location right on the street car line. During Mardi Gras they remove the tables and chairs to make it easier for customers to get drinks, use the bathroom and get back to the parade route. Excellent bartenders and even better food. There isn't much 8 wouldn't recommend on their menu. Awesome bar food that doesn't make you feel like you just ate a mess of greasy bar food. Fat Harry's was one of the first bars I got a drink at, underage, a long time ago during Mardi Gras. I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea, 'cause I heard they'd get me drunk...ended up drinking two and falling through the seats where the booth ends and the next one begins... Fast forward to now and after the fire renovations, I still have friends that like to head over to Fat's for a couple of drinks. I miss the old booths because you could hide in them and have a little of your own space. The bouncers are always nice, and sometimes I enjoy watching the underage girls stomp and throw fits around them when they're fakes aren't accepted. The crowd is mostly younger college kids just going to have a drink and meet up though you'll get the occasional group of late 20-early 30somethings and a couple or two in their 40s remembering the days of yore at Fat's. I know I go to a lot of bars with a younger crowd, so it's judge-y for me to call Fat's out for it, but there's no dancing and I don't get cheap drinks, so it's hard for me to stick around Fat's too long though some nights, it works. There cheese fries weren't anything to write home about, but their wings are pretty tasty! If you've got a krewe and you're in the area, grab a seat out front, enjoy a couple of beers and watch the streetcars go by. read more
