As you can see, I just pushed it to half of the bun because there is no use of eating all that bread with no meat. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. The portion size was just ridiculous. Not a huge fan. Asked waitress what is her favorite and she said she does not eat there because she doesn't eat out but they sell a lot of everything. I ordered the pick 2 shrimp and flounder with mashed potatoes and salad. Onions were frozen on the salad and there was hair in the mashed potatoes. First time coming here, don't think I'll be back. The table was sticky. We were being bothered by flies the whole time. Full time job keeping them off our food. They were out of wings, chicken fingers, okra, fish and more. I was waiting for the waitress to come back and say "sorry, we are out of plates". I ended up just getting a burger. It came out with no lettuce, she wasn't sure why. Bet you can't guess why....yup, they were out of lettuce. And the burger was so dry. I just ate the fries. They did have a clean bathroom which I greatly appreciate. And the waitress was friendly and did keep our drinks constantly filled, so she got a nice tip. read more

The owner of this restaurant is an absolute pig! Turns away customers that spend $100s each week and we're fiercely loyal for parking in the wrong spot. Well consider that money out of your bottom line. Why would anyone want to patronize a place where the owner sits at the door like a troll judging those who come for lunch? The food is mediocre at best and overpriced in comparison. We are locals and will be sure to pass our experience on to all of those we know. After dawdling around various food options around Walterboro we stumbled upon Fat Jacks. What a great find! Food is good service is very on par and conscientious. Stopped here before heading to hotel for overnight on our trek south. Saw good online ratings. It did not disappoint. They had Sam Adams Octberfest, which my husband enjoys. He had the half rack ribs and I had the shrimp platter. The coleslaw side was very good as were the smashed potatoes. The shrimp had a nice light coating. Ribs were tender and bbq sauce was sweet and tasty. Quick friendly service. Immediate seating. Plenty of seating available with several tables for larger groups. Worth checking out. read more

Went here while we were traveling through walterboro. It was the only place around by the interstate that was not "fast food" unfortunately the food tasted fast food / frozen and microwaved instead of cooked but had dinning prices and the serves was immature to say the least. Came in on a Friday about 4:00 wasn't to busy at all. Was seated about 3-4 minutes later a gentleman was seated next to us. Waitress came over got his drink order. We still haven't been acknowledged. She comes back takes his order still not acknowledged. Another couple seated they had their drink order take and then placed order. We still haven't been acknowledged. We asked hostess who was our waitress, she said she was busy and would be with us shortly... like really ? Waited another 6 minutes and got up to leave a different waitress wished us a good day, we said we weren't served, she asked hostess who sat those folks, the young lady spoke up and said I told them it would be a few minutes. Hubs & I had a late lunch/early dinner here today. It was our 1st visit, but I'm sure it won't be our last. We enjoyed all of it. We were immediately greeted & seated, then as soon as we sat, our server, Liza, was there to take our drink order. I had a Caesar salad that was nicely cold & crisp with just the right amount of dressing & Parmesan. We had onion straws as a starter. These were thicker than I expected, but still flavorful. Even better, these weren't greasy at all. Sauce was also great. Hubs got the scallops with Cole slaw & smashed potatoes; I got chicken tenders with fries. Mine tasted more like calabash chicken, which is a favorite of mine.l & all of it was very well seasoned. Liza was awesome. She stayed right on top of everything without hovering. Our drinks never ran out & she was prompt with removing empty plates. We were really pleased with our meals & service. I'm sure we'll be returning in the near future. read more

I received average service and the resturant offered what appeared to be a enjoyable experience. The overall feel of the establishment was nice. I ordered the fried flounder. This order came with a salad and hush puppies. I ordered the loaded smashed potato. The salad was average. The hush puppies and potatoes were excellent. That is where the good tastes ends. The fried flounder was served partially cooked and "mushy". After showing this to the server it was taken back and a new plate was shortly brought back out. The fish looked great. However the fish was still partially mushy and partially rubbery. The server came back to check and after seeing the same results offered no refund to the order. Won't eat there again. read more

I got more than I expected here. We walk up and it doesn't seem like much, let alone a good steakhouse or a place that does steak. I can say the place is unique. It was quiet which for some places isn't the best but it's a small town and not near a major exit. They had Cointreau so I ordered that and a Diet Coke. Which was well mixed. I had the steak, and it was pretty awesome, this coming from someone who has looked up several ways to make the best steak and gets to taste try all that her husband attempts. We stopped in to have a bite while traveling from the Blue Ridge Mountains on our way back home to Tampa and were pleasantly surprised with the food and service. We met the owner (Jack) while we were there and he was such a nice guy who clearly seemed to care about his guests experience. When your choices for food in this area are Ruby Tuesday, Waffle House, DQ etc... OR Fat Jacks, to me it's a no brainer! We will stop by here again the next time we are in the area! read more

Came back to visit here back in my hometown. First time being able to sit down and eat. The food is reasonably priced and the staff is really nice and friendly. The restaurant was clean along with the bathrooms. Food came out right on time. Will visit again to be able to try more food. With the virus, they spread everybody out and sanitize everything. A quick stop for dinner on our way to Charlotte, we found Fat Jack's. Driving from Ft. Lauderdale to Charlotte wanted a decent dinner before we stopped in Charlotte. I tried Fat Jacks today while in Walterboro, SC. The hostess and waitstaff were very good. For appetizers we had southwest roll which was tasty with a nice dip. We also had catfish bite which come with cocktail and tarter sauce. The portions we quite large. I ordered crab cakes which were cold when I took my first bite. My dudes were okra and potato salad which I enjoyed. My partner had grilled chicken Caesar Salad which she enjoyed. Again large portions and more went home than was eaten in the restaurant. As a former chef and college foodservice professor I must say from a taste perspective all was good. But the cold crab cakes put a damper on things. I packed up the leftovers and decided I would reheat everything in my home kitchen at a later time. At the end the waitress asked if we would like a beverage to go which we declined. My family stopped here as we were going through town. I will start by saying my waitress was very kind . I gave her my to go order ( my family and dog was in the car), I give her my money and then realize I was charged way more then I was supposed to be. When I ask the young lady for the receipt I relive I was charged $15 for 1 grilled chicken breast for my dog. After 20 mins of waiting (remember my family is still waiting in the car)I get my food. I look in the bag and my sons cheese sticks are missing. I'm a little irritated but hey at least I got our dinner so we can continue our trip when I open my meal, I got a ceaser salad with blackened chicken. 10/16/2020 Was looking for a casual place to eat as we were just passing thru Walterboro that night. Food: was good. We each had the chicken strips dinner which came with a salad & one side. We each had the caesar salad. My husband had the Jack's fries, nothing special, I had the smashed potatoes. The dinner came with 5 good size chicken strips. Location: the restaurant was located on an out parcel of a shopping center. We sat on the patio. It seems everyone with a noisy pickup truck went by that night. It was very distracting. Staff: The service was good. The trainee we had was very attentive. BUT everyone needed a lesson in proper mask wearing. Our waitress thought she needed to take hers down every time she talked to us. Most of the rest of the staff wore them on their chins. They did not practice social distancing among themselves after they removed their masks and congregated near the hostess station to talk. When it's good, it's good. But when it's not, well... I live literally down the road from this place. We used to go frequently, but cut back due to the inconsistency. Sometimes when you go, the food is great, service is great, atmosphere is great. Other times, the food is cold and the service is subpar. I used to really enjoy their chicken wings. They were always crispy and didn't hold back on the dressing. But sometimes they're slimy on the inside, the skin isn't crisp at all, and you have to ask for extra sauce.
