If you're looking for a solid Italian spot in Flagstaff, Fat Olives is definitely worth a visit. We started with the fried artichoke hearts with basil aioli, and they absolutely stole the show--10/10. Perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the basil aioli paired beautifully with them. We also ordered the Burrata & Prosciutto appetizer, which was very good (8/10). My only suggestion would be a little more balsamic drizzle and a pinch more flaky sea salt to really make the flavors pop. For my entrée, I tried the Belgio Dolce Pizza, a 3rd Place winner at the International Pizza Expo. The combination of house-made mozzarella, pecorino Romano, shaved Brussels sprouts, Calabrian chili oil, Molinari soppressata, local honey, and crushed pistachios made for a unique and enjoyable pizza. The crust had a fantastic texture, and you can tell they know how to make a proper pie. I'd give it an 8/10. While the flavors worked well together, I felt it could have used just a touch more seasoning to really bring everything to life. We visited around 1 p.m. on a weekday, just as they seemed to be coming off the lunch rush. Having worked in the service industry myself, I completely understand busy shifts, so this isn't meant as a complaint--just an observation. It did take a little over 10 minutes before anyone greeted our table, and our waters didn't arrive until about 15-20 minutes after we were seated. Overall, we had a pleasant experience. The food was fresh, the atmosphere was welcoming, and despite a slower start to service, we'd happily stop by again the next time we're in Flagstaff.

I had heard quite a bit about this restaurant as we have been looking for what would be the places to go with great food. Frankly, I don't know what the Hoopla is about and why it has 4 1/2 stars, but the ambience was cute. As to the food, I thought it was average at best. I had the rigatoni and I was expecting to have more of distinguishing flavors like I have had with other Italian meals that also have fennel sausage in it because I'm a big fan of it. This was very bland and when it was served, it was warm and not hot. My wife had the chicken Parmesan and it was served in a very hot iron dish which probably they should do for most dishes to keep it nice and warm. Hertz was definitely better and I would give it 3 1/2 to 3.75 stars for its meal, but it wasn't necessarily memorable. The server was pleasant, and after we were served, took a little bit of time before she came back to check in on us, and then as we had finished relatively early, keeping half of our meals for later, we didn't see her for quite some time. It was definitely getting packed because we had an early dinner and arrived at about 3:45 PM and frankly we're done about 4:20 PM. It was Father's Day so I understand Weil. It was busy, but that doesn't speak to the Food quality. I did have an orangecello old-fashioned, which was a nice twist on the old-fashioned, but just average in the scope of old-fashioned drinks Overall, it's my opinion that it is average at the very best and we are probably a one and done. One thing, however, is that the pricing was very reasonable and likely it is you pay for what you get.

I stopped by Fat Olives because their pizza looked delicious and oh my goodness it was! I got the margarita pizza and it was just perfect! We started off with the wood fired stracciatella and wow this was amazing! Guy Fieri has been here and he liked this place too! The service was amazing and the ambiance was great! We were pretty happy with this place and would definitely return!

one of flagstaff's best gems. The food exceeds my expectations for a small town like flag. we went during happy hour and they have great deals and you can beat the rush of people! The pizzas that really stood out to me were adovada 10/10 and ms piggy 9/10. I love that the pizzas have honey on them which balance the savory and spiciness of the pizzas. chicken parm was SO BOMB. It was creamy and flavorful, without being too overwhelming. Usually, it can be tiring to eat a full cream pasta, but this was well balanced and had me wanting more. Spaghetti and meatballs were disappointing. Bland and a little watery for my taste. Meatballs were dry. Would not recommend getting this as there are way better dishes. Tiramisu is light and fluffy. A must have dessert here.

Came in for lunch...also this is famous for being on DDD with Guy Fieri. Decor - Very cool inside with seats at kitchen and a separate bar area. Food- Pepperoni Pizza with fennel sausage. $16 + $3 for the small amount of fennel sausage. It was great but not worth the xtra $3. - Pizza crust was amazing and the entire pizza was delicious. - Spaghetti & meatballs $14.50 with a small salad. Way too much sauce but the meatballs were good. Wouldn't get it again. - Overall good service and glad we finally made it here. I like how they have a section on the menu, "what Guy ate". They probably got tired of people asking. CON - The "Flagstaff Service Charge" of 4% is total bullsh*t!

We stopped by this pizza place after visiting the historic U.S. Route 66 for a quick bite, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Days later, we were still craving the pizza! We ordered pepperoni, meat lovers, and sausage pizzas, and all were equally delicious. The atmosphere was fun and lively, the service was friendly and attentive, and parking was easy with plenty of spaces both in front of the restaurant and in the adjacent lot. We would absolutely come back the next time we are in Flagstaff.

We went to Fat Olives to celebrate our niece's graduation from Northern Arizona University, and with it being graduation weekend, having reservations turned out to be a great decision. There was a line out the door when we arrived, but since we had reservations, we were seated immediately. This place has been featured on the Food Network's "Top Places to Eat," so it's easy to understand why they're so popular. The tables are also somewhat small, so things can feel a bit cramped once the restaurant gets busy. The food was incredible and the drinks were equally impressive. They have a great selection of cocktails, beer, wine, and mocktails. The Basil Lemon Drop made with house-made limoncello was especially refreshing on a warm day. For our table of eight, we started with the bacon marmalade bruschetta, goat cheese bruschetta, and the wood-fired stracciatella with prosciutto. Everything was fantastic. The bruschetta boards each came with four pieces, and the stracciatella included four crostinis plus plenty of prosciutto to share. For entrees, we ordered several pizzas including the Ms. Piggy, Carnivore, and Belgio Dolce -- the same pizza Guy Fieri featured -- along with lasagna, pesto spaghetti, and rigatoni. Every dish was excellent, and the pizzas were large enough to easily feed two people. Even after all that food, we still made room for dessert and ordered the crème brûlée cheesecake, tiramisu, cannoli, and a couple espresso martinis. I only tried the cannoli because I was completely stuffed by then, but it absolutely delivered. The service was outstanding. Jennifer did an amazing job taking care of our large group and making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. I also loved the option on the menu where you can buy a 6-pack for the kitchen crew to show appreciation for their hard work. We figured one wasn't enough for the whole staff, so we bought five 6-packs instead. This would have easily been a 5-star experience if not for a couple issues. Originally, we made a reservation for 16 several weeks in advance. We received a confirmation the night before, but then got a cancellation notice just a few hours before the reservation. Our first phone call to the restaurant ended with us being disconnected, though thankfully the second call resolved everything. We later found out their reservation system automatically cancels large reservations unless they're booked as private dining. We also reduced our party size to 8, which helped. The other issue came at the end of the meal when the manager asked our table to leave. I understand we had been there for about two and a half hours and they likely wanted to turn the table, especially during a busy graduation weekend. Still, there were no time limits mentioned when we booked the reservation, so it left a sour note at the end of what had otherwise been an amazing dining experience. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend this place if you're in Flagstaff and craving Italian food -- just don't expect to keep your table for the entire night.

Update: We still love Fat Olives. Our bartender (Isla) last night was a real sweetheart and a darn good mixoligist too. We enjoyed cocktails, a couple Caesars, and a Ms Piggy pizza. Everything was great per usual. The space was lively and everyone was having a good time.

Oh my goodness, this place! I found out about it from social media and the Food Network. We were looking forward to eating here our whole trip, and we are seriously sad we can't eat here more often due to distance! You're greeted with a signed Guy Fieri poster hanging in their entrance. We were seated promptly in a cozy booth. The kitchen is open and you can see them tossing the pizza dough up in the air occasionally. Such a cute little restaurant! Michael (Mike), was our server and he was so great. He said he's been working there for 11 years. I told him how I knew about the place and he said the episode on Food Network aired in 2017 and things have never been the same since! I can imagine! He really knew the menu well and took the time to tell us about the restaurant and their certifications. This place is a VPN Certified pizzeria by Verace Pizza Napoletana! I love that they also designate what Guy ate on their menu. I went with the Belgio Dolce Pizza, the 3rd place winner at the International Pizza Expo in 2014. The pizza is white sauce based, with house-made mozzarella, pecorino romano, oregano, shaved brussel sprouts, calabrian chili oil, Molinari soppressata, local honey and crushed pistachios. Mind blowingly amazing. My oldest got the chicken Parmesan on Mike's suggestion and my youngest got their version of a meat lovers pizza. They each got an Italian soda and I got a mocktail cherry smash--delicious! Mike suggested their tiramisu for dessert--stating it's a modest portion, good for sharing. I told him we aren't the biggest fans of tiramisu, but he assured us theirs was amazing--more custard and not very coffee-y. He said if we didn't like it, he'd buy it. Okay, sold! WOW! Best tiramisu EVER! We LOVED it! Everything was phenomenal! I'm so thankful we were able to try this place out! If I'm ever in Flagstaff again, I'm coming here again for sure, and will even ask for Mike! :)

We found this Based on a local PBS show we saw on you tube and not Triple D. It has a rating from Naples that claims their pizzas are made authentic. I it is fun to see them toss the dough in front of you. Probably the best Margarita pizza I've ever had. We also had a burrata chile infused side dish. That was great. Service was wonderful I see why people come here. The happy hour was very generous with discount prices on drinks and some items. I'm giving it a 4 because I don't understand why they charged a 4% flagstaff service fee. We originally thought it was a city thing they couldn't help. We ate at two other places and were not charged this fee. And again I feel like restaurants should put this information on menu at the door on the table ahead of time if they are going to do it.

Service was friendly, and the food came out very fast. The wood fired crust is so good. My only complaint was they were somewhat skimpy on the toppings for our sausage and fennel pizza. Highly recommend the roasted olives. I'm sure we will be back next time we're in Flagstaff. read more

Pizza to die for ! We came here in our search for a good pizza place in flagstaff and this place came up . We had 4 adults and 5 children so we needed something that had patio space and would accommodate us . Our server was very pleasant and advised us on the pizza VPN certification and gave us some info about the pizza oven ( it was custom made in Italy ) . Our food came out quickly and we ate it all ! We had some picky eaters and were worried they wouldn't like it but they devoured it . We couldn't get enough . In fact just writing this has made me want a pizza right now . I would recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Italian food and pizza ! read more

My buddy and I are not from town and heard great things from other people. We were out here for a business trip and came to this spot for dinner one night. We had to wait about 15min to be seated for just the two of us. But definitely worth the wait. The food was spectacular. We took recommendations from the people who work there and the manager Amanda was very helpful explaining the menu and offering her opinion about the menu. We took her word and ordered an appetizer that had some cheese, meat and bread. I forgot the name of it though. She then went on to explain the most popular pizzas and we ordered two. One was a pistachio pizza that sounds slightly odd, but the flavor is awesome and the crust was perfect. The other was a spicey meat pizza that was also very delicious. I would give this place a 5/5 on the food and presentation of plates. The service was very good as well. Amanda was very informative and checked in on us often. Some places i have been to the servers turn into ghosts and hard to get refills or order other items. But that wasnt the case here. The host (who was new) also was able to answer my initial questions and provide some history about the spot. Seems like everyone enjoyed working there, so keep it up! 5/5 I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great pizza. I'm sure all their food is really good though. We will return to this spot on our next job. Very happy with the experience. read more

Flagstaff is as cool of city as you're going to get in Arizona. With that being said, The Fat Olive is one of the best restaurants in the Arizona and New Mexico region. But that ends at the borders of Southern California and West Texas. The beautiful, ginormous pizza oven is on display right there at the bar. You can get lost in the flames of that fire. The cooks are friendly but not in like a bartender-kinda-way. Equal mix date-place and family joint. BE PREPARED for a wait if this is your first time. The hostesses give preferential treatment to returning guests and friends, but if you slip them a $20 they'll throw their friends to the curb and get a table for you lickity-split. Guy Fieri has stopped with his camera crew for Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. I think he was fair in his assessment of the place. The lasagna rocks!!!! The bread is fresh. Though The salads are always soggy and can probably be skipped. The waitresses are very flirtatious due to cynicism that only exists in individuals trying to escape the desert for an oasis like Los Angeles or New York City. You might hear your server go on a rambling incoherent visualization description of her "DREAMS" & "Goals" or whatever. You gotta be vocal about refills. This is something they don't pay any attention to unless you stand up for your own hydration. They're too busy dreaming of their bright future instead of the reality of the here-and-now. Parking always appears full but there's always one or two spots you can find. It's a comfortable place but if you tip generously to the hostess and at least two servers they'll definitely give you the preferential treatment. They won't put your photo up on the wall like Guy Fieri, but they will make sure your glass is full and your first in line for a table or in getting your meals out of the kitchen. I won't say this place is corrupt because the food is too good for that but there are certain "maneuvers" you need to follow so you don't end up wasting 3 hours here. read more

The food here is absolutely incredible. The wait staff is kind, the restaurant is cute, and overall, a solid place to get food in Flagstaff. We got the Ms Piggy pizza which was to DIE for. If we went again, I'd probably pass on the crème brûlée cheesecake, it wasn't overly crunchy on top, which is the main reason we chose it, but it was a decent piece of cheesecake. We had a server in training who was really knowledgeable, as far as a trainee goes!, and the server who she was working with was very kind in correcting her or adding to things she said. We don't live nearby but if we did, we would certainly be back without hesitation. read more

We go through Flagstaff at least once a month and last week we finally had a chance to give Fat Olives a try. We tried the owner's Mexican restaurant down the street and always have received a great meals there. I am happy to see were extremely happy with Fat Olives amazing food. Symantha our tiny looking teen server was great. Fantastic personality and most helpful getting us though the menu. The only problems was, everything we ordered was her favorite and we couldn't have her sit down and join us. A fairly large pour of house Chianti ($7) was very reasonable in both taste and portion. We decided to go through the menu and started with the Arugula Insalata ($10.50). Great tasting with an ample sprinkling of goat cheese and a wonderful, acidy salad dressing--good start to a great meal. Next, we sampled the BBQ Chicken Pizza ($16) it was well done with a nice crisp bottom crust, plenty of chicken covered in a sweet and savory BBQ sauce. Onions and cheese also enhance the overall taste and texture... this was another winner. We spilt the Pasta Bolognese ($14). The sauce was not quite what I would call a Bolognese, but it was a cooked perfectly and the sauce was more like a chopped meatball marinara sauce but was enjoyable. I don't think Symathia thought she could sell us dessert but since half of the meal was being packed up to go, we ordered The Cannoli ($4) with 2 spoons. The crispy pastry shell was very good and the pistachio ricotta was very light and tasty. The meal was very good, and the prices were almost before inflation prices. The whole meal including $15 tip was only $64. To sum it all up--great fun service, great energy in the well-designed dining room, excellent food and wine and not-to-be-believe prices. I'll be back next month to try some other menu choices. read more

A great place to eat. Many go there for the pizza and rave about it. We had pasta dishes (Alfredo w/shrimp and the pasta pesto). Both were great. Good portions, clean, and service was perfect. Very attentive waitress. Kind Of a fun place and good for dinner with friends and families. Wouldn't hesitate to go there again read more

It is always easy to give a great restaurant five stars when everything goes well, more difficult when a problem occurs, but Fat Olives deserves it. It was a busy night, but we had reservations and were seated immediately. Drinks came out just fine. It was my birthday, and even though carbonara wasn't on the menu, I asked if they could make it as an off the menu item. The newish waiter (Garrett?) was eager to please, checked with the kitchen, and said no problem. Imagine my surprise when I received a carbonara pizza, not a carbonara pasta. Remember, I ordered something not even on the menu. Anyways, Garrett and the manager (Grayson) apologized profusely, added some humor, comped part of the check, and left us with a very good feeling in our stomach and our hearts. Definitely give them a try, an Remember a reservation, they get busy. read more

First visit for me and the family. A bit disappointing because for an Italian spot, the pasta was overdone. No al dente here. However it was nice to know they would have replaced it or if I ordered another dish or reordered. I didn't reorder. Garlic Bread was good. Overall though Olive Garden would have been better and we were gonna go but it was packed so we found this place. read more

The food was good and our waitress was so hospitable and funny (her name sounded like Felicia?). We got the wood fire roasted platter, the oven roasted olives, the belgio dolce pizza, the fungi pizza, and the lasagna. The wood fire roasted platter was simple but really good. I absolutely loved the belgio dolce pizza. I was afraid that the honey would make it too sweet but the chili oil gave it a nice kick. I thought that the mushroom / fungi pizza and oven roasted olives were pretty basic and nothing special- I wouldn't order them again. The only bad thing was the lasagna- there were barely any noodles buried underneath the mountain of sauce and cheese. The flavor was fine but pretty much every mouthful was just sauce and melted cheese. read more

When a place is good, a place is good. Food and service, this place is solid. My wife and I were driving, after visiting the Grand Canyon, back to Phoenix and we decided to try this little spot in Flagstaff. To my surprise, their dining space was still spaced out for social distancing and the servers were all wearing masks (+). My wife and I waited a bit and were seated. The hostess was nice and our server was splendid. The food did not disappoint. For starters, we ordered the Caprese. Dam this place was good. We had to wait more than an hour for dinner but it was worth the wait. Everything we ordered was just spot on, especially the pizza. The margherita is simple but elegant with its thinness yet it's fluffy crust and the belgio dolce is so unique and works with textures and flavors so well. Then there's the burrata and the flatbread. So good. Seriously, go here. I will say that they don't have a large drink selection, so don't come here to drink. But definitely come here to eat. Because it's the bomb. We got the roasted artichokes, meatballs (holy cow these were so good), stracciatella (so cheesy and delicious), and the brussel sprouts (the star of the show). I ate so many good appetizers, I just got a salad, which was good. Their house dressing is super tasty. Their pizzas looked great too and everyone raved about them, they were huge!! Spaghetti and meatballs, Caesar salad, and pizza were all so-so. Not what I would have expected given the Yelp rating and the associated grandeur from being associated with the food network. Recommend by a local family member and it did not disappoint. We did not have a reservation and were surprised to see how busy it was on a weekday at 5:30p. This place is great, we went when we were in town and wish we had a restaurant like this where we live currently because we wanted to try so many things from the menu. It's so cozy on the inside and you can tell it's popular with locals and tourists. Service was quick; we didn't feel rushed but everything was brought out in a reasonable amount of time. Ultimately, when a restaurant that does pizza is certified Neapolitan, you gotta get the pizza- and it did not disappoint. Buffalo mozzarella is the bees knees, seriously. Try it. This honestly might be the best pizza I've ever had! The crust was perfect - from the thickness to the clean flavor to the 'flop'. The prosciutto pieces were thick cut (not the typical thin slices you get on pizzas) and they had the perfect salt balance. Topped with fresh arugula and a squeeze of lemon!! Our oven was handcrafted in Italy by the Valoriani family. Our mozzarella and burratta is handmade, right here, every day. Our tomato sauce is made with "crushed" San Marzano tomatoes. We import and use only "00" Caputo flour. We are proud to be part of the slow food movement and use only local produce when available. We strive to provide a true Neapolitan pizza experience adhering to age old principles and procedures to insure a classic Neapolitan Pizza. Fat Olives began with the only licensed mobile Italian pizza oven. It was strictly a catering business until 2012, when the restaurant was opened. We have been serving Italian classics and Neapolitan Pizza.Fat Olives serves true Italian pizza -- natural, pure, the way it was intended. So, what makes our pizza special? The cheese. Our mozzarella, or fior di latte, is handcrafted from fresh curd. You will NOT find "part skim, low moisture" mozzarella on our pizzas! The crust. Our pizza dough is made fresh from the finest Neapolitan Caputo 00 flour. Produced in Naples for three generations, this finely ground flour delivers both a crisp crust and a moist crumb. We use only flour, yeast, salt, and water in our dough. The sauce. At Fat Olives, our pizza sauce is made from only imported San Marzano Italian tomatoes! Warm, welcoming, and unpretentious, Fat Olives is the perfect destination for impromptu gatherings, casual dinners, and special occasions.

Meet the Business Owner: John C.

John Conley, is a Flagstaff and Arizona native. He grew up in Phoenix, Arizona in a family of nine. He was given a choice to learn to cook or go hungry, and he not only learned to cook, but fell in love with cooking. He moved to Northern Arizona at the age of 17 to pursue a career with the United States Forest Service. During the summers he fought fires and during the off season he worked in a restaurant and attended NAU. When he left the Forest Services to start his senior year, he decided he was no longer going to continue fighting fires. He returned to his local restaurant job, Salsa Brava (then: only a counter service restaurant). He caught word that Salsa Brava was going up for sale. He took a chance and chased a dream. Now 26 years later he has two family owned restaurants, Salsa Brava, that has been featured on Food Network, and Fat Olives,an authentic Italian kitchen.

We were intrigued enough that we visited MartAnne's the very next night for dinner. That was on a Tuesday at around 6PM and it wasn't too busy the entire time we were there. House Horchata ($5.99) - This drink comes in a giant 32 oz Ball jar with tons of ice. Per the server it's made with milk and condensed milk, no rice milk at all. It's rich, thick, creamy, sweet, filled with earthy notes of vanilla and cinnamon. There's so much spice included that at some points, there's almost a gritty feeling while drinking. It's perfect for a hot day after hiking. Buckwheat Pancake ala carte ($4.99) - Buckwheat pancakes are something we've never seen before on a diner menu in the past. It seems to be pretty common around Arizona, so we had to give it a try before leaving Flagstaff. This one's pretty big, almost plate sized. It's really moist, fluffy, bouncy, and light with a slight sweetness and a certain earthy flavor. It's moist enough that it sticks to the ceramic plate it's served on. The pancake is somewhat crumbly due to the low gluten content of buckwheat, although I believe they use a mix of buckwheat and wheat flour to give some more stability. It's bluish grey in color with black specks of ground buckwheat throughout. It's dusted with powdered sugar, but it's not a ton, making the pancake not really sweet at all. The pancake comes with a small cup of their cinnamon honey butter. It's not mixed that well, leaving it mostly unhomogenized with streaks of honey and spice through the softened salted butter. Tamale ala carte ($4.99) - MartAnne's offers two types of tamales - the first a red chile beef, and the second a green corn and cheese. We went with the latter, which is a homemade tamale with a somewhat looser, coarsely ground masa shell surrounding an interior of yellow sweet corn kernels, a bouncy and somewhat spongy block of Oaxaca cheese, and a fragrant green chile. There's a slight sweetness throughout and the tamale overall is easy to eat. Chilaquiles, Xmas, Fratelli ($17.99) - This is a monster sized plate of a mishmash of ingredients. There are three things as essentially a base layer. Firstly some Mexican rice that's tender, moist, and fluffy, totally unlike the more common dry and and compact version. My guess is that they skip the initial frying step that helps keeps the starch together. It's quite fragrant and has gives a bit of heat. On top of the rice is a layer of hash browns. The potatoes are tender on the interior, griddled on one side to give a delightful crunch, although there's some acridity that develops. Another third of the plate is covered with chili beans - tender pinto beans that are well salted and seasoned. Then there's the eggs stuffed in between layers of corn tortilla chips, smothered with sauce. I went with the Christmas combination of red and green sauce, followed up by the Fratelli-style pork green chile. The green sauce is fragrant and vegetal, while the red sauce is more smoky. The pork, which is cut into chunks, on top is a bit tough and dry but there's more than enough sauce to make up for that slight demerit. Finally, there's a small mound of I believe jalapeno peppers, cut into small neon-green colored pieces. Some pieces are spicy, some are mild, all have a vegetal pepper taste. I found the food at MartAnne's to be pretty good. It definitely hits the spot after hiking all around the area for most of the day. Bathrooms - Two individual rooms, one for men, one for women. Note: MartAnne's charges a 3.5% credit card fee. This is labeled on the menu.

The celebration began with a parade of appetizers that vanished almost as quickly as they hit the table. The Wood Fired Stracciatella with added prosciutto was silky, rich, and indulgent in all the right ways. The Goat Cheese Bruschetta Board delivered the perfect balance of creamy, tangy, and crisp, while the Bacon Marmalade Board had everyone reaching back for "just one more bite." It was the kind of opening act that immediately signals you're in for something special. Of course, no celebration is complete without good wine, and Fat Olives delivered there too. We shared bottles of the Magna Cum Laude IGT Tuscan red -- fittingly named for the occasion -- smooth, bold, and deeply satisfying, alongside the bright and refreshing Crowded House Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Every time I visit Flag, I make it a point to stop by and indulge in their delicious food and impeccable service. However, my recent experience took things to a whole new level of amazing. I called the restaurant at noon, hoping to secure a reservation for 15 people in just three hours' time. To my delight, the staff at Fat Olives made it happen! But here's the best part - when we arrived, we had three additional guests, making it a party of 18. If I could give zero stars, I would. My girlfriend and I had an awful experience at Fat Olives from start to finish. When we were seated, our table was still dirty--crumbs, smudges, and who knows what else. The overall ambiance wasn't great either; it felt chaotic, and the place just didn't have a welcoming vibe. Our waitress was completely inattentive, barely checking on us. We had to flag her down multiple times just to get basic service. Our food came out wrong, our drinks were never refilled, and the food itself was just bad. We tried multiple items from the menu, hoping something would be decent, but everything was disappointing. The worst part? We both ended up with food poisoning. We were sick for days, which not only ruined our trip but also made us miss our visit to the Lowell Observatory. Those tickets were $70, completely wasted because we were too sick to go. Instead of enjoying our vacation, we spent the next couple of days absolutely miserable. I genuinely love giving great reviews when they're deserved, but I have to be honest--this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Save yourself the trouble and eat somewhere else. Decided to come back last night because our addiction to this pizza is just too hard to kick! It was another busy night but the staff handled it with grace. The hosts were an absolute delight quoted accurate wait times and directed us to the bar to pass the time. The bartender was sweet and efficient, she kept us busy with great conversation. Once at our table the server chelsea was knowledgeable and quick, she reminded us why we fell in love with fat olives. Thanks for the wonderful experience. One star, not because of the food, but because of the service. We had some friends in town and we were really excited to take them to one of our favorite restaurants, but wish we didn't. Our waitress Hannah was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered in the service industry. The simplest request felt like a burden to her. My boyfriend and I patronized Fat Olives after a ridiculously stressful day in Flagstaff, and it was exactly what the doctor ordered. From the cocktails, to the mini-happy-hour appetizers, to the arribiata pizza to the s'more dessert, we were completely thrilled and satisfied with everything that went in our mouths. I agree with another poster about the rudeness of the hostess with the short hair, she was abrupt and kept us waiting (even though they had literally just opened the doors and there was only one other table inside). I hate when a hostess knows you are there but won't acknowledge you, preferring to stare at whatever they are writing....it takes a second to say, "be right with you" with a smile. But, our server in the bar smoothed us over and Fat Olives won with the incredible food and great bellinis. The housemade bread and mozz.....wow. Excellent Pizza with a nice atmosphere. The thin, tasty Pizza dough here is delicious! The pizza dough ingredients are imported from Italy and fire oven baked to perfection. There is a bar area, and a dining area that has booths, four top tables and seating at the pizza bar. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. Our waiter, was super nice and attentive. The drink menu was expansive, lots of wine choices as well as beer and mixed drinks. We were there for lunch, so we just had the iced tea, which was fresh brewed and refreshing with a generous slice of juicy lemon. In addition to the pizza, there were other traditional Italian dishes on the menu, as well as sandwiches. For the kiddies one of the offerings was a bowl of pasta with butter and cheese; exactly what my kids asked for when they were little! We discovered Fat Olives on a recent trip to Flagstaff. When you enter the restaurant it is very underwhelming! That all changed as soon as we were seated and our server Mike came to our table. Mike was AMAZING!!! Mike was so informative about the menu and gave us excellent suggestions. He also mentioned that Guy Fieri had eaten there and ordered the Belgio Dolce pizza. We all agreed to give it a try. The pizza was unlike anything I had ever had. It was fantastic!!!! We also tried the roasted olives and tomato bisque--both delicious. Portions were large and service was outstanding! We told Mike the food was so good we would come back on Thursday and we did. This time we ordered 1 pepperoni and 2 Belgio Dolce pizzas. We asked for Mike again and he was just as awesome! We ended our meal with tiramisu and gelato (YUM). Do yourself a favor and eat here and don't forget to ask for Mike! read more

The location is super convenient--just a quick hop off the highway, making it the perfect spot for a delicious break before getting back on I-40. I ordered the Caesar salad and the Margherita D.O.C., and both were incredible. The pizza was perfectly cooked with fresh, flavorful ingredients, and the salad was crisp and refreshing. After days of surviving on gas station snacks, this was a much-needed treat! The service was top-notch, too. On my last visit to Flagstaff, AZ, we stopped off at Fat Olives twice.. I'm glutton intolerant and was able to enjoy the regular thin crust pizza at Fat Olives. They do however offer glutton-free bread and pizza crust.. Lauren was our bartender and server. I tasted the artichokes, pizza, caprese salad and wine from the tap. My favorite was the appetizer plate of roasted vegetables. It is evident that the food is fresh and made from high quality ingredients. Food was absolutely delicious and the red wine was smooth. Everyone there works like a team and is happy to be there. The manager came over and said hello. Excellent customer service. Had an amazing time and will be back on our next visit. read more

Another delicious dinner! We've eaten at the always popular Fat Olives many times, but tonight we came in without a reservation. The host was polite and friendly, but didn't lie about the wait. He maintained his affable demeanor in the face of our loud conversation:) When we opted to stay and grab drinks at the bar, we committed a faux pas by sitting at an empty two-top (oops!). Waitstaff sweetly re-directed is to the lobby but seated us a bit earlier than the anticipated time. Our waiter was attentive without hovering, and the food....yum! My new favorite restaurant! I came to Fat Olives with my soon to be mother and brother in laws on a recent trip to Flagstaff. We were instantly excited about their happy hour menu. We ordered the Fat Olives insalata, Stracciatella, and abruzzo to share. All were fabulous. We each had a Peroni and decided to order a regular sized caprese and parma and arugula pizza. Delicious! The service was great, the beer was cold, and the restaurant had great ambiance. The happy hour prices can't be beat, and the regular menu prices are extremely reasonable.
