My husband and I chose Fat Ox to kick off my birthday weekend with drinks and a light meal, and I'm so glad we ultimately stayed. We arrived around 4:00 p.m. and were told the wait for a table was until 7:30 p.m., so we grabbed seats at the bar. It was our first visit, and the atmosphere was beautiful and inviting. Unfortunately, our first interaction with the bartender was disappointing. First impressions matter, and he came across as unfriendly, disengaged, and like he simply didn't want to be there. We ordered water and, as we always do when trying a new place, asked about the drink specialties. His only response was that there were cocktails listed on the happy hour menu. We weren't there for happy hour, we were looking for recommendations. He offered none, took our drink order, and moved on. The entire interaction felt rushed, cold, and lacked any hospitality. About 10 minutes later, another bartender, a woman, came on shift, and she completely turned our experience around. She was warm, welcoming, smiled, offered food recommendations, checked on us throughout our visit, and genuinely made us feel appreciated. The third bartender, who was wearing a bolo tie, was also very friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding! We enjoyed the table Caesar salad, oysters, steak, veal meatballs, and dessert, and every dish was excellent. I'm very glad we decided to stay because that first interaction nearly made us leave. Thanks to the incredible food and the outstanding service from the other two bartenders, what started as a disappointing experience became a wonderful beginning to my birthday weekend. We'll definitely be back, hopefully for the food and the warm hospitality we experienced after that first encounter.

Definitely a treat to eat a meal here. Not too much; not too little. Grat portions and very tasty and well prepared. The service was excellent, the atmosphere calming and relaxing, and the food was spectacular! Even the bathrooms were spotless and well stocked. I truly enjoyed my experience and will be back.

Upscale Italian with lively vibe. "Lively" really just means lots of people and loud music but hey, it's a vibe nonetheless. Focaccia was good, kind of crunchy but I enjoyed it. I had the black truffle pasta; it was perfectly al dente. Friendly service, stiff cocktails and tasty eats.

Fantastic meal! Absolutely will be coming back. Get the tableside Caesar salad because it was honestly the best that we've ever had. The Brick Chicken is also amazing. It's like a deconstructed chicken taco that you put together, and wow, the sauce and chicken with tortilla and arugula is absolutely amazing. As Rocky says in Project Hail Mary, it was "amaze amaze amaze!" The polenta comes with the meal as a side, and absolutely cheesy and cooked to perfection. Can you tell that I thoroughly enjoyed my meal? Service was also excellent. Our server was patient and really talked about the dishes with passion. Hands up a fantastic foodie experience.

This is a lovely spot with 'next-level' food. We arrived early (430, booking through Open Table/Sapphire hoping for a seat in the interior patio, but ended up at a table adjacent to the parking lot. While comfortable, it was a bit noisy. The service was excellent; our waitress was incredibly helpful, walking us through multiple options for each course. The pasta, fish, and Brussels sprouts were all A1. The only minor note was the Caesar salad--the dressing was delicious but quite salty, likely due to the capers. Overall, a great experience.

Stopped by for dinner with my family while visiting from out-of-town. This isn't a family friendly restaurant. They do not accommodate those with kids with high chair, boosters, special menu or kids cups. Our order was 1 table-side ox Caesar (for 2), 1 ox oysters del giorno, 1 kids gigli, 1 garganelli, 1 sorpresine, 1 8oz Linz Reserve Filet & 2 glasses of Bodyguard by Daou (a Cali red blend). I had originally ordered the gnocchi with beef cheek but the waitress came back around to say they were out of it. So I then tried to order the Puttanesca pasta. She came back again to say they were out of that. I wound up just randomly selecting a different pasta from the menu which wound up being the Sorpresine. Notes on taste of food: the pastas were good. Our child especially enjoyed and ate all of her gigli. The filet was our favorite bite of the night, very flavorful with a bit of char on the outside, perfectly cooked med-rare. The salad was pretty decent too, but if I could re-do it, I would have asked for more lemon/garlic/anchovy. The flavor of the salty fried capers came thru more than the other Caesar salad flavors. The long flat crouton was also stale, too hard and was picked out and not eaten by either of us. 1 of our 4 oysters were spoiled rotten, and almost made my spouse puke. They brought back a replacement oyster and it was also spoiled. The rancidness left a terrible taste in our mouths the rest of the night an we wondered if we'd get sick later in the night (we didn't, thank goodness). The kitchen should be ashamed of this! Maybe I should know better to order something raw in the desert? The complimentary focaccia looked better than it tasted. Focaccia is supposed to be soft and theirs was very disappointing because it was hard in your mouth and lacked any kind of softness. Service was ok, although I did have to request waters and I felt like in general the youthful staff were a bit novice for such an upscale dining atmosphere. While parking was plentiful and easy for us, and the steak was wonderful, I'd probably seek out other restaurants to try rather than go back to this one in the future.

We went here for dinner with friends on a Sunday evening. We had reservations and were seated right away. The ambiance is nice, clean, and modern. The music was a little loud. Our server was great at explaining the menu. We had the table side Caesar salad, which was delicious. We shared 3 of the pastas- the gigli, gnocchi and radiatore. They were all good, but the gigli was pretty basic and the pasta was a little too "al dente" for my liking. For my main course, I got the half roasted chicken. The chicken was very good, but the sides were't great. The polenta was kind of greasy, and the flatbread tasted burnt. Our food and service were overall good, and it was a nice evening.

Parking: plenty free parking Ambiance: pretty loud Reservation: via opentable Restrooms: men and women bathroom Seating: bar or table Service: fast, good, not the friendliest. Complimentary: Fresh foccacia bread with roasted tomato butter and sweet cream mascapone We ordered: *Crab toast - good *Prosciutto di san daniele - nice prosciutto. As for the melon, yes it is sweet, but as whoever cut them, they just cut whatever, it didn't cut properly, we ended still have to cut them ourselves and some of them the skin still stacked together w the meat. *Herb grilled octopus - over grilled, dried and bit burned. *25 layer lasagna - the way they cut them side way, it doesn't look like a 25 layer lasagna. Flavour wise *Wagyu beef cheek gnocci - just ok, wish the gnocci is more light, fluffy and chewy. This one was just densed. *Branzino - just ok. *Roasted mushroom - like *Calabrian roasted cauliflodenied. *Tangerine curd tart - the crust tart is nice, but the curd is like from a jar, overly sweet. Overall ok

I had a delicious dinner here with my bestie! We made a reservation for us at 7pm on Thursday. We arrived early but waited a few minutes until our table was ready. This place is nice and fancy, perfect for a girls catchup, date night, celebration, or just because. There's a well lit and decorated bar area as well as regular tables. We were seated at a small two too, the menus and wine glasses took up most of the surface area. Our server explained the menu to us since neither of us had been before. It's meant to be enjoyed as four courses. We shared the table side Caesar to start and then ordered our gnocchi, cacio e pepe pasta, and half chicken entree. The Caesar salad was delicious- and watching it being prepared was a treat itself. We opted for the anchovies and capers to add a savory touch. The pasta came out next and was delicious. It's a 4oz serving but definitely enough for me with the half chicken which was super tender, juicy and flavorful. It was served with an assortment of dipping sauces plus rich delicious creamy polenta (which I don't typically like) and a couple tortillas. My friend enjoyed her gnocchi too! By that point we were stuffed but once I heard tangerine gelato was the seasonal offering I couldn't resist! All in all our meal was excellent, service was perfect- friendly, attentive and not overbearing. Highly recommend checking this one out! @azfitfoodfun

Table caesar salad (comes with two portions)

Best pasta i ever had but the filet was not very good- we got the gigli and the radiatori both had really good chewy texture and yummy sauce but the filet tasted like water and would not recommend.. however the potatoes were good Also the table caesar salad was really tangy and fresh and yummy

Came here for Christmas dinner, along with the early crowd. Our sever was extremely knowledgeable and had given us a ton of information about menu, specials, etc. she was amazing. Our food was fantastic, we had a late lunch so we didn't eat too much between the three of us. Meatballs and ricotta, 12/10. That pasta.... 20/10. Cant wait to return, want to have happy hour here soon!

We had an amazing dinner from start to finish. Dinner began with the house focaccia. It was warm and very tasty. The table side Caesar was very good. Entrees at the table were all delicious. We had the salmon, lasagna, cacio e pepe, Brussels, and asparagus. The desserts were divine--from the tiramisu to chocolate mousse bar with banana gelato, to the butterscotch budino. Everyone at the table loved everything they ate. A top notch meal in taste, presentation, and service. Thank you Fat Ox.

For my birthday, my boyfriend made reservations for us at Fat Ox, which is a restaurant we have been meaning to go to together! The restaurant has a bar, main dining room area (more modern), a second dining room area (more classic), and a patio. It seemed as if the concept was that the restaurant wants their customers to enjoy the food and eat it by course. The waiter took our drinks and appetizers/starters order, and when we were going to order our main entrees also, he told us he would come back in 30 or so minutes to take that order. My boyfriend has been here and told me that was a first for him, but we did not mind. The table side caesar salad was great and the veal meatballs were so tender. They also brought bread out and I was a huge fan of both butters! The espresso martinis we ordered were not on the drink menu, but they were delicious and very strong! My boyfriend ordered the half brick grilled chicken, and I was a huge fan of everything on the plate -- it was also plated so nice! I am typically not a polenta person, but this one was so good. I am a huge fan of short rib, so I ordered the short rib alla vaccinara (and unfortunately forgot to take a photo of it). It melted in my mouth! I do wish there was more broccolini in the dish because it was very, very minimal. The sound of "celery root purée" scared me, but I enjoyed it a lot! And they were very sweet to give a free little birthday treat at the end of the meal. I want to come back for happy hour!

I really liked how stylish and beautiful the restaurant was. It would be a great spot for a date night. We ordered several dishes to share. I was really looking forward to the Nordic salmon salt block sashimi but the slices were too thin to hold up to the salt and felt like the block was the main attraction. Nordic salmon sweet sesame rice bowl was highly recommended by the server. It was good but overly sweet and the serving size was pretty small. We ordered Korean beef tacos topped with raw kimchi. Wasn't impressed with the beef which was just meh and lacking a rich and good flavor. At $5 each the tacos fell short in execution as the flavors and combination didn't work. The best dish was the tempura green beans which were light and crispy. I didn't care for the aioli it came with though as it was super sweet. I had to mix in a garlic aioli to make it ok. The ambience felt elevated but unfortunately the food didn't match. I didn't expect to find flaws with every dish we tried which was disappointing. Our server was acceptable but was not engaging. I'm glad I finally experienced this restaurant but don't see myself returning.

Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
