My first time here after living in Arizona for 10 years! It is so warm and cozy inside. Has a rustic western chic vibe with wood fired ovens and a huge outdoor patio. For apps we got the lamb fondue which was super tender and unique. Dipping meet in cheese? Literally nothing better. Then we also got the green chili pork stew which is a MUST try! Not too spicy and full of flavor. Also, great for sharing as you fill it in the buttery tortillas. The filet was seriously one of the best I've ever had in Arizona. It has a nice shallot butter crust and it was cooked PERFECTLY medium rare. This was a highlight. The pork chop is huge and has a nice sweetness to it. The meat wasn't dry either...it pretty much tasted like the best bacon I've ever had LOL Everyone must get the green chili Mac n cheese. Not spicy at all just Smokey and tangy and full of cheese but shockingly not that heavy. The pecan pie was unreal. Gooey and sweet but the crust was still super flakey. The brownie skillet was soft in the middle which is how it always should be. Their known for their frozen huckleberry margarita which is a treat in its own but it's not too icey they definitely don't skip out on the tequila. Rachel was our server. She's been there for awhile so you know that they treat their staff well. She was super knowledgeable and honest about certain menu items. Went to Roaring Fork on our 42nd anniversary. We arrived at 5:45 without a reservation, in early summer, and it was relatively busy. The host told us that there was open seating along the wall or under cover outside. Since the wall was full, we ventured outside near the cooler. We were given water right away but didn't even see a server, Jessica, for 12 mins. We even had to ask her for menus. It was a very awkward start. My wife ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon and a Caesar salad, plus wine while I got the 22 ounce Ribeye and a side of Poblano and PepperJack Grits, plus an iced tea. It all came to $137.11 plus tip. Our salad arrived in 8 minutes and our dinner 10 mins later. The salad was outstanding. Plenty of romaine, dressed with the right amount of dressing, 3-4 croutons and a mound of shaved Parmesan cheese. The salmon was really good, served with sautéed green beans and soy butter. My steak was cooked perfectly. It was seasoned well and the grits were incredible. They were creamy, with pronounced poblano and Jack cheese. It was the perfect accompaniment. Jessica did a great job checking in on us during our meal but, again, it was awkward waiting 15 mins for her to offer dessert and check. Met another couple for dinner and I made a reservation using the restaurant's reservation site Open Table. I received an email to confirm my reservation and we were good to go! We were running a little late so I had our friends check-in at the hostess stand and they gave my name for our reservation which was confirmed and they were sat at a table. We then arrive a short while later and I approached the hostess and stated that we had a reservation and our friends already arrived, checked-in for our reservation and were seated. The hostess asks what name the reservation was under and I tell her my complete name and she said she doesn't have it. I explained that I have a confirmation email and she waves her tablet at me about 4 feet away so I can't see the details and says "See! I don't have it." I replied, my friends are already here under the reservation so can I just go find them? She replied yes. I don't understand the interaction when my friends clearly checked in already using my name for the reservation. It was a discussion that wasn't necessary and did not give our first visit to the Roaring Fork a good impression. Once we found our friends after searching through the entire restaurant, we found them and sat down. We were immediately approached my our server who was very attentative and gave great service. We were told about a 3-course menu with multiple selections and I decided to get the New York Strip. I enjoyed my cesar salad and then the New York Strip was delivered. It was prepared according to my request, medium, and I checked by cutting right down the middle. I noticed it was a little tough to cut even with the steak knife I provided but the inside looked as expected so I continued on. What I was surprised to find was the amount of gristle on the New York Strip. There is nothing like having to pull food out of your mouth (several times) at a public place because you can't possible chew or consume it. My girlfriend and I ended up coming to Roaring Fork two nights in a row because it was that good. The first night, I had the ribeye and she ordered the fried chicken with gravy and mashed potatoes -- both were outstanding. The steak was perfectly cooked and flavorful, and her chicken was crispy, rich, and pure comfort food. We shared the Brussels sprouts and the truffle fries, which were both incredible sides and easily big enough to split. I also had an Old Fashioned that was well-balanced and paired perfectly with the meal. We couldn't stop talking about it, so we came back the next night. This time we shared the "Big Ass Burger" and the wings, and somehow still saved room for dessert -- the skillet chocolate pecan brownie, which was absolutely decadent and the perfect way to finish the meal. Beyond the food, the ambience here really makes it special. Inside feels warm, cozy, and romantic, while the outdoor views are beautiful and add to the whole experience. This place is great for a date night, celebration, business meal or start to the night out. The service is professional and gets every detail right! The steak is incredible! One of my wife's favorites . We always get a table . They do have a great happy hour but I equate that to a geriatric running of the bulls. I've never seen so many older people (I'm 67) fighting and squeezing to get in the bar to save a few bucks on a burger. I love a deal but I can afford dinner at a nice table rather than fighting for a spot. My wife and I took our daughter and son in law for a nice leisurely Christmas Eve dinner. We had reservations but were first seated right next to the kitchen super hot from the lamps and way too much traffic to be enjoyable not exactly the vibe we want for a night out. My husband's Shrimp and jalapeño grits were tasty but the shrimp were small and the portion didn't quite match the 28.00 price tag. Nice, casual ambiance during happy hour. I feel like the bar staff does not have time to educate newbies. For a first timer, I didn't know where the restrooms were. And when I asked the bartender, he started laughing like it was a joke. So I would recommend giving a little grace to those that are new to the facility. Birthday dinner for one of my besties and it was fantastic! Great table and menu selections are thoughtful. The Envious OF was good but somewhat ordinary compared to the rest of the choices. My pork tenderloin was immaculate. Often anything bacon wrapped is hit or miss if both are cooked correctly. Crispy bacon and tender medium pork loin was on point! It was the last place my family and I visited during our trip. A couple of friends joined us for dinner. It was a beautiful interior, very rustic but hip. It was cool and dark, and the tables and seating were very comfortable. It heightened the experience. Our server was excellent. We ordered 3 amazing appetizers - The chicken wings, the queso, and the Jalapeño poppers wrapped in bacon. Everything was outstanding. Dinner entrees were equally fantastic. Two of my kids had the "big ass burger", and the third had the fried chicken. One of our guests and my wife had the shrimp and grits and were very happy. I ordered the 22 oz., bone-in rib-eye steak cooked medium rare to rare. It was perfectly prepared and so amazingly juicy. It was one of the best steaks that I have had anywhere. I ate every bite and gnawed on the bone. We also ordered the street corn and the truffled fries as sides, and we were VERY happy with all of them. The food was simply the best we had in Scottsdale. I do not know what the final cost was, as our guests picked up the bill. I do not believe the prices I remember from the menu were out of line for the quantity and quality of the food. Went for the second time Sunday night. They have a pre-fixed menu that is awesome and a good value. We have the 16 oz NY Strip and Short Ribs. Both were great especially the steak. My mom is super picky about where she likes to go for a sit-down meal, and usually she doesn't eat out at restaurants, precisely because she has such high and specific standards. That she loves Roaring Fork's happy hour so much is a testament to what a great experience they provide. My mom loves taking every friend or family member who visits from out of town here, and I like it, too. You'd never know from looking at the location that there's a restaurant tucked in this area of office buildings, but it's there! There's lots of parking, and the entrance to the restaurant looks so grand and dark and old-school while also having great pockets of sunlight from the patios. The staff are friendly and attentive. The big ass burger is indeed, big ass, and delicious. The huckleberry margaritas are tasty and pretty. I highly recommend coming here for happy hour. read more

It was a beautiful evening in old Town Scottsdale, AZ so we opted to eat outside on the patio. No view. The restaurant is on the ground floor of a large tall building in a business park but the patio looked nice with little lights strung up and wrought iron railings. They had à la carte with a good selection of dishes and a 3 course fixed price option with fewer dishes but the entrees came with vegetables included so I went with that. I really don't like wasting food when I have to order a starch and veg and pay extra for huge portions I cannot eat. My husband ordered off the à la carte menu and enjoyed what he had but wasn't wowed by the quality. My Caesar salad with shaved Parmesan came first except it looked very flat and I didn't see any Parmesan. I tasted and there was no real taste to the dressing and definitely no anchovy flavor. Still looking for the cheese. Waitress came over and I said the salad was tasteless and she said she would take it back for the other option. Then she said the kitchen has just informed her that they were out of cheese. Why did they serve it then??? The replacement salad of mixed greens with cranberries and glazed walnuts and feta was tasty and fresh My 16oz New York strip steak came out with six large & tasty asparagus and a small dollop of mashed potatoes- just what I wanted. The steak was cooked beautifully medium rare. But it was incredibly tough and I had to leave most of it. What I could cut off and chew was delicious but it was hard work. Dessert was pecan pie which I usually adore but I like it with lots of syrupy filling and pecans on top all in a buttery pastry. This was a very thin triangular slice more like a cookie with no crust around the pie; just a narrow bit of pastry at the bottom. It was full of pecans and had no separate pie filling layer. I did not like it much. Very greasy. The ice cream with it was good. The waitress was a lovely young woman who tried to make it work and I didn't blame her at all. She was a sweetheart. But the kitchen needs to do better. It was Monday night and I am guessing we got the players that usually sit on the bench. read more

This place is way bigger than I expected, with a great patio and lively ambiance. We were seated right away, and our server Kaileigh was fantastic: friendly, attentive, and full of personality. Honestly, the service here was the best part of the night. The drinks, unfortunately, were a mixed bag leaning heavily toward disappointment. The house favorite Raging Rita was so tart it made my face pucker. It felt like they forgot any kind of sweet element--simple syrup, agave, anything--and the result was a "we have margaritas at home" kind of situation. I gave it a 2/10 only because I did finish it. The Category 6 Lemonade, on the other hand, was shockingly drinkable considering it had four different liquors in it. It was smooth without being too sweet and ended up being the standout cocktail. The Peach Palmer sounded great on paper but was so watered down it tasted like someone showed iced tea a picture of a peach and called it a day. My husband couldn't stand it, and I wouldn't recommend it either. The Envious Old Fashioned sealed the deal for the drink menu--just bourbon in a glass with a sad cherry. No balance, no sweetness, no depth. Food wasn't much better. The queso de puerco was the winner by far--creamy, spicy, full of pork, and packing a nice amount of heat. It was a little thin and oily until we stirred it, but it kept us dipping back for more. Sadly, everything else fell flat. The "Big Ass Burger" looked incredible when it hit the table but ended up being all show and no flavor. The patty was undercooked (rare instead of medium), unseasoned, and completely overwhelmed by the bun. Poblano? Nonexistent. We even tried drowning it in queso to rescue it, but eventually gave up and sent it back. At least the fries were crisp, well-seasoned, and perfect with the queso. We swapped the burger for the crispy chicken bites with Nashville seasoning, but that was no upgrade. It was basic frozen chicken thrown in a fryer and dusted with generic "Nashville hot" powder. Spicy, yes, but with no flavor beyond that, and the ranch dip was just as uninspired and definitely not house-made. For a place with so many glowing reviews, this visit was a real letdown. The ambiance is fun, the patio is great, and the service, especially from Kaileigh and the manager, was excellent. But when the food is mostly a fail and the drinks can't carry their weight, even great service can't save the night. As much as I wanted to like it, queso alone can't make up for everything else. We celebrated my wife's birthday with her mom list last Friday and had a great server and lovely time. I enjoyed the roasted duck, my wife got the 8oz. filet and her mom the halibut with generally good feedback all around. For the duck, the the 'sauce' included felt more like a relish or jam, i thought it needed to be more viscous in order to coat the duck a bit better. The filet is cooked over wood fire and you can really taste it, delicious! I thought the bill at the end was a bit shocking considering we were only 3 people, it felt a bit pricey. I was in Scottsdale, as I have been for the past 3 years to attend a clinical trials conference at The Scott, focused on clinical research sites. Roaring Fork is directly across the street from The Scott, a very convenient location and my colleague and I decided we wanted to eat someplace else beside the hotel's restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and seated. I loved the feel and look of the restaurant. Our server was perfect in knowledge of the menu and recommendations and I opted for special - beef tenderloins with grits and Mexican corn! I'd come back to Roraring Fork just to eat that again! I believe I will be back in Scottsdale for the same conference again this year and will definitely be eating at Roaring Fork again!! read more

I was happy to see the duck breast on the prix fixe menu, that included salad and dessert for $55: What a deal! First of all, the mixed green salad was large, and the ingredients made it tart. It was a nice way to wake up your palate. Secondarily, the duck breast was cooked medium as requested, and was moist and flavorful. Lastly, the cheesecake was thicc and covered in tasty huckleberry sauce. Our waitress, Kailyn was super nice and knowledgable. She gave great advice on a local dive bar. Regarding the ambiance, its a warm place with a wood fired oven. A very positive experience at a local place. Hmmmm this is a mediocre chain eatery with pretty lame ambience. We got there and were seated at an outdoor table on the patio and it the table was huge and kind of in the dark. No cancles on the table. So we moved inside to pretty much the same table in the farthest back corner . Again with no candle on the table. We took a look at the menu and at the sight of the big ass burger we decided it was not for us. We had wanted something a little more upscale so we left. The prices were not reasonable for the atmosphere so we decide to find a better venue.. if I'm going to pay these prices I'd rather eat scratch kitchen than out the the back of a Sysco truck. Our waiter was excellent and provided great service on a busy Valentine's Day weekend. Food was excellent, our only qualm was that the pecan pie had no crust? It was more of a crumble. Still tasted great but seemed a bit misrepresented. The restaurant is beautiful and we enjoyed our time. My only complaint was the front staff. They are very short and rude, don't make eye contact, and speak Spanish in front of customers. My husband and I both speak Spanish, but we found this a bit unprofessional. read more

We came for happy hour and ended up staying for a light dinner! The restaurant was packed thus ended up on their back patio. It seemed kinda make shift: table cloth was not perfectly aligned on table or ironed flat! The ambience during the day time was off: at this price I expect all around perfection. Service seemed too informal as well: it seemed like your mom was serving you and throwing plates at you! At one point I think she got the message when she set the plate down far away from us and we looked at her and she replaced the plate in front of us! As for food!
