It truly pains me to say that I have no confidence in this restaurant. I think they should just stick to being a sports bar took two hours to get my food and when I did, I got one little capsule of sauce. My meat was not great. the coleslaw was essential cabbage nothing even though I ordered the creamy style. Great tasting food that came out really quick. The sides were really good, the brisket was bomb and the ribs smacked too. Oh and the sauce was delicious. They had a ton of TVs so watching the games is easy and the drinks keep flowing with the servers being really attentive. I'm definitely hitting this place again when I'm in DC read more

Tried this spot out during our stay in DC. My husband got the rib platter and I chose the beef brisket. Here are my takeaways: *Meat was so tender and seasoned to perfection. You can tell they take smoking meat seriously. *Baked beans had a nice kick to them. Delicious! *Food came out fast. Very few in the dining room since most of their business appears to be takeout or catering. * Wait staff was attentive and offered suggestions. *Coleslaw was sub par as was the potato salad and mac and cheese. *Cornbread was a little on the dry side. Fat and Greedy Pete's: 0/10 I came here with a large group and left feeling completely ripped off. I ordered something simple: mozzarella sticks and sweet tea. Since we were a big group, instead of running back and forth to refill my friend and my sweet tea, our server left a pitcher at the table so we could refill ourselves. When the bill came, I was shocked to see that pitcher of sweet tea was charged as "Open Beverage" listed for $22 -- more than my mozzarella sticks and sweet tea combined. When I asked him how does the math even add up because the sweet tea gets free refills.. He gave me a non-answer that he thought $22 was fair. If he had said something in advance, I would've just told him not to worry about it and had him refill glass by glass. But instead, he quietly added it to the bill. I might've brushed it off if it were a mistake by any random server -- but it wasn't. It was the owner himself, which makes it feel completely intentional. Between that surprise $22 charge, the automatic 20% gratuity, and the 3% "credit card service fee," my total for Sysco mozzarella sticks and cloying sweet tea came out to $51.21. For one person. Easily one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I've had in DC. Won't be back to visit Fat and Greedy Pete. read more

The brisket was smoked perfectly and the portions were great! The service was outstanding! Our server was very attentive-constantly checking on us. The worst review that I can imagine giving is also the 100% truth. Last night I drove for 45 minutes to go to One of my favorite barbecue spots, to find that it had combined it was some other type of restaurant. The menu was outright chaotic even though I knew exactly what I wanted to order. I had always loved the burnt ends from Pete's. And then I wanted some type of brisket or burnt end sandwich, both of which were very hard to find on your new menu. I kept trying to get the the waiter/ bartender's attention but he was more interested in his phone. When he finally came over I could not get him to understand what I wanted even though I had ordered it 50 times before. I don't know what happened to your restaurant but it is sad, and I don't imagine myself coming back soon. I didn't even taste the food because when I saw how bad the service was I just canceled the order and left. read more

Holy snot, this place is amazing. I grew up in the South so I've had my fair share of BBQ and the only downside is I don't live near one of these. The food is so tasty! Everything has a pleasant flavor and isn't bland. The Mac n cheese and green beans were on another level, so good. I tried the pulled pork and brisket without sauce first and actually preferred it that way. The sauce was very sweet for me but I also prefer mustard based sauces. I came with a large group and they served us family style. They had buckets of drinks waiting for us to arrive and the entire thing was super easy. I don't have enough great things to say about this place. I'm a little broken hearted we tried this on the night before we leave. This is probably a 3.5 review. We came mid-week for dinner and the place was completely empty. There was a lot of foot traffic for pickup, but we were the only ones there - all other tables were empty. The food was fine. I had pulled pork and my wife had the brisket. The meat was okay but not great. The sauces were good but the meat should be great on it's own - but it was just okay. My wife liked the burnt ends but they seemed too fatty and not that burnt for me. The staff was fine and it does look like they have live music some days. read more

Great service, good vibe, affordable app/side prices, below-average food. It seems like a good spot to watch a game on a weekend or go to happy hour and get a beer and maybe wings, but not anything more than that. I went on a weeknight and was able to order, receive my food, and pay my check in a timely manner. The server also had great banter with the customers and added to the good vibes. Fat Pete's vibe is a Texas BBQ joint combined with a sports bar but with plenty of light and airiness. I ordered the burnt ends, hush puppies, and cornbread, and all were subpar. The burnt ends did not have good smoke on the outside and were extremely dry and tasteless on the inside and the horseradish sauce added no flavor or good moisture whatsoever. I ended up asking for the sweet and the spicy BBQ sauces to help with the flavor and moisture. I could not taste the goat cheese or the poblano peppers in the hush puppies and were overall tasteless even with the apple butter. I could only taste the fried aspect of this dish, nothing more. The cornbread was dense, greasy, and way too sweet-among the most disappointing cornbread I have had at a restaurant in a long time. If you need a BBQ fix in DC or are looking for good food in Cleveland Park, there are plenty of better options. read more

This is one of our neighborhood restaurant within walking distance that's been here for a while now - surviving all the ups and downs in many years. However we haven't been here fore a while as the last time we were here we were not too pleased with our order. This time decided to get takeout for a change - it's one of these days when you just don't feel like cooking dinner. We had the beef brisket, baby back ribs, which came with a bunch of sides - corn bread, hush puppies, coleslaw, green beans, and selection of sauces. The meat dishes are good and tender, veggies are tasty, corn bread soft and moist, hush puppies rather dry. Yummy sauces too but in tiny containers size of thimbles barely enough to cover one slice of meat - they seem to expect you to order extra but the included doesn't have to be so meager. Anyway, overall the food met expectations so will likely order from them again. read more

Went here for lunch and ate in. We tried the pulled pork, chicken and chopped pork. The pulled pork was tender and well-seasoned. The chicken was good, but I didn't care for the vinegar sauce with the pulled pork as it was too sweet for me. The mac n cheese was very cheesy, the fries were decent and hot, and the collard greens were good. You can tell they're made in house because the pieces/leaves were big. I think they could be a little smokier, just my personal opinion. The brisket wasn't going to be ready until 4 pm and the smoked turkey wasn't done yet either, so maybe we will try them next time. So I work around the corner from Fat Pete's and I've always wanted to try this please, so i placed a carry out order. Now food was piping hot when i picked it up the guy behind the bar was very polite, bar was clean they had music playing and that's how you want things obviously. So once I got home I took a crack at the spare ribs, great flavor nice and dry rub on the ribs, I'd have to say they probably are my favorite at Pete's, now for the Brisket, that was a little on the dry side for my liking, as you can see in the picture they just didn't have that wetness to the brisket that I'm use too and that's why I couldn't give 5stars. Sides are great, Mac and cheese is good, the greens are probably the best greens I've had from a BBQ spot. I definitely will be back to Pete's again. read more

Had an unfortunate experience at Fat Pete's this past weekend. I've been trying to avoid third-party delivery apps because I've heard how much the restaurants lose. Therefore, I went to Fat Pete's website and used their direct online order link. Ordered the brisket melt which was advertised with a small side (see screenshot). The brisket itself was delicious, but the hoagie roll was soaked and deteriorated with the moisture (I ate it immediately upon pickup). The main driver of my 2-star review is linked to service. After waiting several minutes to be greeted at the pickup counter, the manager proceeded to address me with "which app do you drive for?". I'm a minority resident of Cleveland Park and while I understand people of my descent may not be the typical BBQ customer, the manager's tone was condescending. When I let him know I ordered directly through Fat Pete's website, he located my order and stated "your sandwich doesn't come with a side. We updated this awhile ago and if you viewed our website, you would've known this." I would never assume in 2023 that a side was included but Fat Pete's direct website stated it did. This experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth and it wasn't the brisket. read more

Food was good for the most part, the spare ribs were a little underwhelming like they were leftovers rewarmed, the coleslaw tasted like it went bad. Liked the rest of the food but the service was so weird. We told them we had 2 groupon vouchers and they said they can only honor one of them (despite the groupon rules saying I can use upto 3). If you want good bbq, this is a great spot to go! We ordered the burnt ends as an app, my boyfriend got the ribs, collard greens, beans, and cornbread and I got pulled pork and hush puppies. The burnt ends were moist, delicious and flavorful. No sauce needed! The ribs were both of our favorite item of the night- we think the rub had brown sugar and they were absolutely perfect. We both agreed the collards greens were awesome as were the hush puppies, and he enjoyed the beans (I don't eat them). The pulled pork sandwich was a perfect portion, not fatty and was amazing with just a little sweet bbq sauce. However, we were both very disappointed in the cornbread. We got a delivery order through Uber Eats. Dinner was amazing. I ordered a sampler with spare ribs and brisket, while my fiancee got Carolina pulled pork. Everything was great. The ribs had a nice smoke flavour to them: adding bbq sauce would have been a crime. The brisket was a touch fatty, but the taste more than made up for it. And the pulled pork? The vinegar sauce comes through and compliments it. The sides were a little bit of a let down. The Mac and Cheese was a bit heavy, and thick, words which could also be used to describe the disappointing Cornbread: a heavy gel sponge. Our vegetables were good, though.
