    Beef Sliced Brisket Platter
    Heather A.

Tried this spot out during our stay in DC. My husband got the rib platter and I chose the beef brisket. Here are my takeaways: *Meat was so tender and seasoned to perfection. You can tell they take smoking meat seriously. *Baked beans had a nice kick to them. Delicious! *Food came out fast. Very few in the dining room since most of their business appears to be takeout or catering. * Wait staff was attentive and offered suggestions. *Coleslaw was sub par as was the potato salad and mac and cheese. *Cornbread was a little on the dry side. I'd say the biggest hit here is the meat! I can see why folks choose them for catering.

Fat and Greedy Pete's: 0/10 I came here with a large group and left feeling completely ripped off. I ordered something simple: mozzarella sticks and sweet tea. Since we were a big group, instead of running back and forth to refill my friend and my sweet tea, our server left a pitcher at the table so we could refill ourselves. When the bill came, I was shocked to see that pitcher of sweet tea was charged as "Open Beverage" listed for $22 -- more than my mozzarella sticks and sweet tea combined. When I asked him how does the math even add up because the sweet tea gets free refills.. He gave me a non-answer that he thought $22 was fair. If he had said something in advance, I would've just told him not to worry about it and had him refill glass by glass. But instead, he quietly added it to the bill. I might've brushed it off if it were a mistake by any random server -- but it wasn't. It was the owner himself, which makes it feel completely intentional. Between that surprise $22 charge, the automatic 20% gratuity, and the 3% "credit card service fee," my total for Sysco mozzarella sticks and cloying sweet tea came out to $51.21. For one person. Easily one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I've had in DC. Won't be back to visit Fat and Greedy Pete.

I've been to Fat Pete's before and this was not it. The brisket looks like it was cooked yesterday and they sent it out on uber eats. It was so dry that I couldn't eat it, so disappointed that I want my money back.

Food was amazing! My wife and I had the two meat plate with sliced brisket and pork belly with greens and we added a small side order of Mac n cheese. The brisket was smoked perfectly and the portions were great! The service was outstanding! Our server was very attentive-constantly checking on us. He was super friendly and related to our multiple food allergies well. He was very kind. Truth be told we were the only people in the restaurant at the time BUT service was excellent. We loved the vibe. It felt like a place where you should eat good food. It was great food!

Holy snot, this place is amazing. I grew up in the South so I've had my fair share of BBQ and the only downside is I don't live near one of these. The food is so tasty! Everything has a pleasant flavor and isn't bland. The Mac n cheese and green beans were on another level, so good. I tried the pulled pork and brisket without sauce first and actually preferred it that way. The sauce was very sweet for me but I also prefer mustard based sauces. I came with a large group and they served us family style. They had buckets of drinks waiting for us to arrive and the entire thing was super easy. I don't have enough great things to say about this place. I'm a little broken hearted we tried this on the night before we leave. Otherwise, I would have stopped more often during the trip.

Come on down and give PJ some sass! He'll love you for it. But also enjoy the good food and booze! This is a spot that is close to the metro with only indoor seating at a low top or at the bar. PJ will make sure you get a glass of whatever.. ask him about whiskey... you'll make his day!

L to R: cornbread, burnt ends, hush puppies

Great service, good vibe, affordable app/side prices, below-average food. It seems like a good spot to watch a game on a weekend or go to happy hour and get a beer and maybe wings, but not anything more than that. I went on a weeknight and was able to order, receive my food, and pay my check in a timely manner. The server also had great banter with the customers and added to the good vibes. Fat Pete's vibe is a Texas BBQ joint combined with a sports bar but with plenty of light and airiness. I ordered the burnt ends, hush puppies, and cornbread, and all were subpar. The burnt ends did not have good smoke on the outside and were extremely dry and tasteless on the inside and the horseradish sauce added no flavor or good moisture whatsoever. I ended up asking for the sweet and the spicy BBQ sauces to help with the flavor and moisture. I could not taste the goat cheese or the poblano peppers in the hush puppies and were overall tasteless even with the apple butter. I could only taste the fried aspect of this dish, nothing more. The cornbread was dense, greasy, and way too sweet-among the most disappointing cornbread I have had at a restaurant in a long time. If you need a BBQ fix in DC or are looking for good food in Cleveland Park, there are plenty of better options.

So I work around the corner from Fat Pete's and I've always wanted to try this please, so i placed a carry out order. Now food was piping hot when i picked it up the guy behind the bar was very polite, bar was clean they had music playing and that's how you want things obviously. So once I got home I took a crack at the spare ribs, great flavor nice and dry rub on the ribs, I'd have to say they probably are my favorite at Pete's, now for the Brisket, that was a little on the dry side for my liking, as you can see in the picture they just didn't have that wetness to the brisket that I'm use too and that's why I couldn't give 5stars. Sides are great, Mac and cheese is good, the greens are probably the best greens I've had from a BBQ spot. I definitely will be back to Pete's again.

Their Hush Puppies are filled with creamy, delicious goat cheese, improving upon a side dish that is sometimes dry in other restaurants.

The space feels so intimate, which makes the whole experience more personal and memorable compared to larger, more crowded venues. The atmosphere was great from start to finish, and everything felt well-organized. The service was also a highlight, our server was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made us feel really comfortable throughout the night. Even though the food was just alright, the overall experience more than made up for it. Between the vibe, the quality of the show, and the excellent service, it's definitely a place I'd come back to again and recommend to others looking for a unique night out/date night!

She hosted a listening party show with a customized cocktail menu with drinks named after her latest album! The show was amazing and the sound was clear. First of all, the woman with gray hair and several tattoos was beyond obnoxious to us and she should have a talking to by management. It wasn't busy when we were ordering, and we had a few questions because it was our first time there, and she was just nasty about...everything. Why she works in customer service is beyond us. Let's talk about what we really loved: the hibiscus karkade and mish mish soda nonalcoholic drinks were so delicious. They were refreshing without being too sweet, which was perfect for the swelteringly hot day. The levantine pickles were interesting and a good crunch start to the meal, but the smashed cucumbers were just gross. You could tell that they had been sitting for a while (possibly over a day) because they were slimy and mealy and the whole thing was drowning in liquid. You got zero taste of the scallion oil. The hummus was great, as was the lamb leg "cheesesteak," which was completely unique and special. Finally, the shatta batata were also quite original, and we appreciated the spices and insanely-addictive dipping sauce. Here's what we hated: the hummus, pickles, and cukes were all served in to-go containers. We get that this place is casual, and maybe it makes sense for the veggies, but the hummus container had literally HALF of the dip carved out--and it cost $10! We feel like we got what we paid for with the $22 "cheesesteak," but the tots (served in a bag) were $13. The pricing just seemed way off for what you actually ended up getting... ...which was especially the case with the two soft serves that we tried, the baklawa labne and the tahini oat. They were wonderful and creamy and, again, unique, but with the added surcharge and the (undeserved) tip, they came to over $25. We're kind of a mixed mind about this place. Like, some dishes were really, really good, but the value was not there and the service was beyond off-putting. Not sure if we'll be back again. Maybe.
