I had a great experience today at this location. I was craving a turkey burger and was disappointed to learn it has been discontinued and so I had opted for their chicken tenders. Our server was very friendly and polite. She seemingly had the whole restaurant to tend to but she never made our table feel less important. The restaurant is inside the Holiday Inn and is well lit and easily identifiable. They played all the oldies from 50's thru the 70's and still have the retro feel. Went here out of pure convenience. I arrived and they talked about the happy hour. However, fun fact, they don't clean out their beer lines. I should've known. Mya is absolutely wonderful. She was very inviting when I entered the front door. I shared with Mya I was in a bit of a rush and needed a strawberry margarita. Mya makes a darn delicious strawberry margarita so good I asked for a second one. This Johnny Rockets is inside a hotel and to be honest, I would get anything else in the area, if possible. The food is what you expect. It's not the best, but it's decent. The main dishes, which are usually sandwiches, are ok. The milkshakes and desserts are much better than the entrees themselves. The service was pretty terrible and it took so long to get our food even if there were not a lot of customers. The place is definitely understaffed and the workers clearly do not care so much. Hubby and I popped in here after a failed attempt to retrieve food from a spot next door to this place. As we entered, we walked around to sit at the bar. I'm not sure how long we waited before we were greeted or given menus. I ordered the rocket double burger and fries (which were omitted after asking if they serve them) and a mocha coffee shake and hubby had the bacon burger and strawberry/ banana shake(but had to settle for the strawberry since they didn't have any banana). Our drinks were served first, and I had to return my shake since I was served a vanilla coffee shake instead. Our burgers were served, and I wish I had my phone to photograph the burger that was given. It was messy, and the lettuce alone was huge that I had to remove it and cut it up. Had to get silverware from a table to cut my burger, since the older gentleman at the bar was only there to make alcoholic beverages and not a server. Overall service was mediocre, but if you smoke other than cigarettes, please air yourself out. I am not a fan of cannabis, and I don't want to smell it on you during your shift. The breakfast buffet was superior! Sausage, bacon pancakes French toast potatoes scrambled and boiled eggs, donuts... I can't even name everything lol it was a lot. Everything was clean and organized & around $16.50. the prices are the only thing I don't like about this place but it's downtown DC so pretty average. None of the burgers come with sides. Service was good during breakfast and lunch BUT DEPENDS ON THE SERVER! We ate here several times cause it's in the hotel. Alicia was the best!! It took 35 minutes one day to make our lunch.. when it came out, one burger was the complete wrong burger and the kids sliders didn't have anything on them (pickles or sauce) The Rocket burger was smaller than expected but taste very good, even the Special Sauce. The Johnny Rockets has an 'official open date' in two days (10-13-2022 - and we were told about this so I dismissed prior reviews from earlier in the same day talking about bad service.) I have to tell you that the WINGS were simply Spectacular...perfectly cooked and with just the right kick of spices! I had the Impossible Burger, a margarita and a mud-slide shake...Food and service was lovely and very attentive for a staff just being trained. Thank you!!! I'll say the seating area of the restaurant was clean. There were people working behind the counter when I arrived a little before 2p on a Monday. Although I wasn't greeted, I noticed the sign said to seat yourself so I went to the counter to place my takeout order. The lady behind the counter listened as I said I wanted takeout and said the girl currently working on the shakes would take my order. I could barely hear the server as she took my order. And I stand here waiting for my order, someone has been standing at the counter for a couple minutes to either pay her bill or place another order without any acknowledgement that she is standing there. I don't understand the demeanor of the people behind the counter or the other employees roaming around. Turns out the customer at the counter was also waiting for her takeout order. We came here for thanksgiving giving dinner. First i want to thank the staff for serving thanksgiving dinner. The dishes were under ok. I do not want to walk into any buffet, see the dishes empty. We are waiting a table to sit down, i am watching staff and what's happening around. The meat carver, serving roast prime rib without any gloves. I had to warn the manager. Then i am walking around the serving section. Bread basket is empty, there is no shrimp, there are no utensils to serve them. I am like whats happening. We paid $29 per person for open buffet. There is no way this experience should cost that. The staff was attentive after I pointed out the missing stuff. They started to run around. Waiting at the counter for 50 minutes and still have not had my order taken. How do you lose a customer?

This place offered some of the worst service I have ever received. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We placed a very simple order. Three drinks and a food order- our food came out within 5-6 minutes but for our drinks it took well over 30 minutes and after multiple attempts reminding the staff that we are missing our drinks. The staff was incredibly rude and do not pay attention to detail about the small details. They brought our food out and the server said "I don't even have a ticket for this, I'm going to throw it out"... turns out that he almost threw our food out. The best thing I can say is the wings are good but go spend your money somewhere else. This place is not worth your money, time, or energy. We definitely won't be back! read more

I made a reservation for 12 for Thanksgiving Dinner and in the notes I added that we need room for a stroller at the table. When we arrived at the hotel there was a long line to get into the restaurant. We went to the front and informed them of our reservation however either someone didn't pay attention to the reservation system or staff didn't communicate because they were not prepared to seat a party of 12. We were told by the manager that another staff member sat a group at the table that was supposed to be for us but they would make something work. It took a minute but they got it together and reconfigured the tables to comfortably accommodate our party. Aside from the initial reservation snafu, everything else was good. The menu included all of the traditional Thanksgiving fixins... turkey (which was cooked to perfection), ham, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, roasted veggies etc. along with some non-tradition options such as salmon, shrimp cocktail, and tomato, mozzarella and basil. Overall it was quite a nice spread with something for everyone. The service was wonderful! Our waiter was very attentive often refilling our drinks before we even noticed and just overall pleasant. The rest of the staff, including the manager also checked on us at comfortable intervals that were appreciative and not annoying and intrusive. Lastly, the price was right. The cost was approx. $30/pp for adults and for the amount and selection of food and on Thanksgiving Day I found the price reasonable. Overall, based on my experience I would recommend this restaurant to a friend but would encourage them to make a reservation and to speak up immediately if something is not right with that reservation. read more

Quiet Friday night dinner with only two other tables occupied at this hotel restaurant nestled in a serene corner. There's a nice wine list, and since it wasn't that crowded they even let us sample a beer. Had the braised beef short ribs that came with mashed potatoes. They were succulent and juicy. A side spinach only costs $.99 -- so much more reasonable than places that would shamelessly ask for $6 or even $8 for a tiny saucer of this vegetable. The dessert menu doesn't impress, though the sundae with chocolate ice cream and whipped cream on top wasn't bad. Nice, serene, and laid-back yet not devoid of class in a spacious venue. Would be back for relaxed and quiet meals where I feel comfortable talking with people without worrying about others eavesdropping. read more

We enjoyed a Surprisingly delightful lunch too, in our first day in this hidden spot in the Holiday Inn! Marshall and Li took great care of us - my tasty bacon cheese burger as well my hubby's spaghetti jumbalaya was excellent! Both cooked perfectly and seasoned just right without being too heavy. And fellow chocoholics - the dreamy and divine molten chocolate cake - oooo YUM! It should be called deep dark devilish delight w a rich creamy center - our lunch may end up being our dinner again tonight! (And since our 27th wedding anniversary, a terrific way to celebrate). We walked in at 3:30 on a Friday to dead dining room and a worker who rudely showed us to a table, left us alone for 20 minutes, then proceeded to give us attitude and sarcasm when taking our orders. After waiting 1.5 hours for our food, we were not impressed. My friend got the Philly cheese steak, and it looked like they scraped the bits off the grill and put it in a bun. The waitress was very nice and apologetic, and thankfully she took it off my friend's bill. When I finally got my food, my fries were cold, and the burger was burnt and about .5 cm thick. I literally thought they forgot the patty because it was so tiny. Overall, this Johnny Rocket's was terrible, and normally I love Johnny Rocket's so it was really disappointing. read more
