Located next to the Peppermint Tree Plaza, MOMOlicious offers authentic Nepali bites in casual fashion. I appreciated the menu explaining what a mo mo is, the type of fillings offered, and different mo mo menu options. We ordered the Ultimate Jhol Mo:mo (steamed momo) served in a classic soup made from sesame seeds, tomato, cilantro, and soybean. We chose chicken. We also ordered the Nepali Chowmein with chicken as well. Loved the unique flavors, the textures, and exploration of this culinary cuisine. The owner came over and chatted with us about the menu and future of the space. Earlier in the day they brought mini ponies for the kiddos to ride! Very much looking forward to bringing our friends back here as the weather is getting better for corn hole and outdoor entertainment. Also looking forward to exploring more of the menu, meats, and other mo mo options (maybe the crispy version next time) and mango lassi. You can really feel the love made in the food here and excitement for what's to come ~ congratulations on your new opening in EC!

Personally, I enjoyed the chow mein way more-it was super flavorful and had a unique twist compared to other chow meins I've had. The momos were decent, but the chicken had a bit too much of a clove flavor for my taste, and I wish the sauce had a little more punch to it. Service was solid! Everything is made fresh, so it took a little longer than expected, but they've got a game area in front of the truck, so we passed the time playing cornhole, which was a nice touch for some fun ambiance. The only downside is the parking-it's a bit tight and street parking can be tough, especially on weekends. I'd definitely come back to try more of their menu. The chow mein alone is worth a return trip!

To be fair, it's probably not their fault -- I just got back from LA, where even random taco spots seem to serve incredible tacos. At this point I'm starting to wonder: are tacos in the Bay Area like pizza in California? Is there something in the water that makes it impossible for someone in the Bay to make a truly great taco, while in Los Angeles you can pull up to a random stand and have one of the best tacos of your life? Nothing against Emiliano's, but their tacos tasted about the same as every other taco spot around here -- truck or no truck.

The momos were good and the sauces that came with everything was also great. The spicy red sauce definitely has a kick! Location is a bit strange, it's in a parking lot with a small eating area. The employees brought out games for the area to use, such as cornhole and jenga. Everyone who worked there was super nice and talked to us about the food and Nepal. Food was brought out to us at our table which was a bit unexpected for a food truck. Price and quantity was typical for a food truck. With the service and delicious food this is a must stop if you're in El Cerrito or driving through the area as we were going up to Tahoe. I have also seen them pop up elsewhere around the bay but this seems like a permanent spot for them. Overall: 4.7/5

However I decided to go ahead and place an order. The employees aren't that friendly at first, I didn't even get a hello walking up and took them over five minutes to greet me when I was the only person at the truck. When I was finally asked if I was ready to order, employees were nice. I sat while waiting for my order because they have a cute eating area if you wanted to sit and enjoy your food there. They have two picnic tables under heat lamps with a few wine barrels for standing. Nice little set up. Food was hot and surprisingly delicious. Full of flavor, saucy and fresh... the reason why my food took over 15 to receive. It was totally ok with me that I waited so long because it was that good and so worth it. Overall, don't be afraid of what this truck looks like because looks are deceiving!!

On Friday we decided to give it a try. Honestly we both were hoping to order the Chicken Fried Rice but unfortunately they were completely sold out. So we opted for the Cajun Chicken tenders and fries as well as the Mango Habanero chicken wings and fries. It took about 25 minutes for our order to be completed. We were extremely pressed for time so we literally grabbed our food and left. In hindsight the time was extremely reasonable as that's how long it takes for your food to be prepared. In other words our food was made to order and not previously prepared. Let me just say the Mango Habanero wings were delicious! They were generously sauced with the right about of crispness. I found them to be flavorful and abundant. My order came with about 10 wings, fries and sauce. The sauces did not come with a lid, I was t too thrilled about that. As for the tenders, they were large, well seasoned with a dry rub, crispy and juicy. It's two days later and I am STILL thinking about my food which is a great sign. If you're in a rush, it will take a while for your food to be prepared and because the food is excellent know you will have to stand in quite a line. I would highly recommend if you enjoy chicken as there are several options to choose from. I most definitely will be returning!

I think the problem is that I couldn't get past the lack of a restroom in the area. They had some portables, but they are making food and we are supposed to eat it. Where are they washing their hands? This area is also pretty cold so if you go, make sure that you have a coat, scarf and hat. I'll never make that mistake again. But because of the cold, I didn't want to eat outside so our food got a cold, but it was good. My husband liked the food he got, but gluten free options are super limited. They get a third star because of the bar! Now there was only one person working there and that's fine because he could go get a snack or something and come back to pour drinks, but again. The restroom issue. Where does he wash his hands, what if he has a cold and sneezes into them, and so on. That's where my mind went. The vendors are quite nice and were helpful and weren't mean when they answered my GF questions and I appreciate that. So, this is like the little engine that could. I can see that it is a gathering spot for people and they have music and speakers which is cool. So I saw and felt a community vibe and people really seemed to like going. If I lived in the area, I may try it a bit more, but in all honestly, Oakland Museum's Off the Grid event is everything I wish this was. I'm sure that they will get there, but don't want to hang out while they figure it out.
