Like others below. First time at the sumner location as Puyallup FZ had a long wait on a Friday evening. Fat Zack's is a upgraded Mod pizza. Love the Puyallup one. This one doesn't have the awesome FZ Sandwiches which is why I had to take a star off. Much quieter location as really nothing nearby. Plenty of seats inside, small parking lot. Employees seems nice but busy with online orders. Convenient drive thru. Place is clean. Looking forward to the FZ's opening in South Hill closer to us. read more

This was my second visit to Fat Zach's and first to the Sumner location. I went to the Sumner location on a Friday evening because wait time for Puyallup was over 90 minutes (woah). A few highs and lows: HIGHS -I loved the Sumner location's drive thru, it was quick and my food was ready immediately when I arrived. -The female employee I placed my order with was very friendly, but window staff was average. -I was relieved that the wait was 15 min at dinner time on a Friday night (maybe there's good reason for that -- keep reading). -Modified order was made correctly which seems like a rarity these days LOWS -I ordered the large antipasto salad which is the same thing I previously had at the Puyallup location -I LOVED the salad at Puyallup, but I honestly couldn't eat half of my meal because the quality was so low. A lot of slimy lettuce and also MASSIVE-sized brown lettuce that had not even been chopped. The toppings were great luckily but what a shame when you pay so much for a salad and can't even eat half, gross. -My fiance had the hot-style bone-in wings and was really disappointed. They are absolutely overpriced for the poor quality. Swimming in a container of sauce and the drums had no bite and were extremely mushy. He said the flats were "okay." Definitely a sub-par experience here and I was really disappointed after hyping up Fat Zach's to my fiance. If we go back, I will never order salad again (shame for a GF vegetarian) and he won't be ordering wings, but I would honestly wait the 90 minutes to go to the Puyallup location where staff were super friendly and food was very high quality. read more

I believe my pictures speak for themselves. First time trying this place. We door dashed it and they were closed when it got here so I couldn't get ahold if anyone at the restaurant. I keep giving this place another try and am disappointed once again. Undercooked in center and burned on one side. Not very busy in there so feeling like it will be a while before I give this place another shot. Two pizzas both undercooked one charred on the side, now I'm eating what's like raw dough. I observed the construction of the establishment in Sumner WA as I lived close by. Every now and then I would see the owner as he kept up with the progress. When the business did open I was blessed with a taste of the food, I was extremely satisfied and as time went by I was able to try several different items on the menu, All to which I am so grateful for each time the owner would give me food. A pizza, a salad, drinks, desserts, a sandwich here, a burrito there and as I stated, the owner GAVE me food. After a disappointing first visit I decided to give it a second chance because my son wanted to check it out. We were the only customers in the restaurant but had to stand at the counter waiting to place our order because the two employees were discussing staffing issues. They were right next to us so they knew that we were there but chose to make us wait to place our order. Very unprofessional. Both the pizza and breadsticks were burned so I had to go back to the counter and request that they remake them. They did remake the order without any issue and it was much better the second time. Before we left a staff member brought out dessert as an apology for the burnt food. The pizza was decent but certainly not worth the poor customer service. We will not be going back. read more

My brother-in-law who lives in Tacoma said that he heard about this great pizza place in Sumner, so we drove kind of out-of-the-way to try it out for the first time. I love pickles and I saw this crazy pizza with pickles on it and decided I would give it a shot. When I say that this pizza was the best pizza I've ever had I'm not exaggerating. I was taken aback at how much I loved the quality and complexity and the uniqueness of this pizza called the NBD. Wow wow wow! Every pizza from now on will be measured by this pizza. I wish I didn't live 700 miles away in California or I'd be a regular. I'll figure out a way to sneak 2-3 trips over to Fat Zack's every time I come and visit. read more

I'm really surprised no one mentions the difficulty you encounter when you try to call the restaurant (Sumner) to place an order. Every time I have tried to call them I get an automated message from Verizon that the call cannot be completed. You have to hit redial many times in order for the call to go through. You'd think they could afford a multi line phone system especially if they can afford to open another restaurant. They have lost my business for this reason alone which is too bad because I do like their pizza. At least when calling other pizza establishments my call goes through and if they're busy they ask me to hold and then take my order. read more

I made my order online and was given an approximate time of 40 minutes until I could make the pickup. About 10 minutes later I received a text that my order would be ready by 6:20 pm which was 10 minutes earlier than expected. When I showed up my order wasn't even started. So they put together 2 nice pizzas and put them in the oven and worked them around and got them done really fast. Well when I got back to my hotel both pizzas had really soggy crusts. We love wood fired pizzas because of the crispy crust and smoky flavor. I wished they had spent the time properly cooking the pizzas in the wood fired oven. We ordered Fat Zach's through Uber Eats on a whim, and although we had a great experience with the staff, the food was not quite what we expected. The side salad was very small for the price, but fine. But when our pizzas arrived, one was in tact but the other left much to be desired. The sauce had apparently soaked through the crust to the point that it was soggy and wet all throughout (the top of the pizza was essentially a puddle when it arrived). The solid toppings slid off of the pizza in transit, and it was really not a pleasant eating experience. When we called the restaurant to let them know, they were very gracious and understanding and added our name to a list for a free pizza should we decide to eat there again which was appreciated. They knew exactly which pizza we had ordered and said that because of the extra sauce on their version of a Margherita pizza it can cause the sogginess etc. which was not necessarily reassuring but that was offset by the kindness and prompt customer service that we encountered. All in all, we can't speak too much in favor of the food, but the staff are exactly what we would hope to see in any setting and we are extremely appreciative of that. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Service, or lack thereof was condescending and disrespectful to older people. I am a senior citizen myself and was there with my 90 year old parents. We never got our order completed as the counter guy tried to play the heavy with us ordering one beer (which was for my 90 year old father). Obviously, the counter person was uninformed on state law, and expressly stated that he couldn't serve a beer unless I showed ID because it was state law. After I asked, are you kidding, he told me no ID no beer, that is the law for everybody. I told him you are mistaken, you must not serve to those underage, but he was adamant. I was willing to avoid a situation, so I flipped open my wallet and showed him my ID (remember I am 65). He said that is not good enough and while he smirked and laughed at me, he told me to take it out of the wallet as it may be fake, and you don't look like you're 21 anyway. Now, I'm a reasonable person, if he had politely said it was company policy to ID everybody, sorry sir, or something like that, we probably wouldn't have had a scene. But when he tried to play mister police man with me that was enough. So, I told my ageing parents, who have mobility issues, that we're leaving, and we did. We went to Farrelli's and had a wonderful lunch, served by a respectful server, and we even got beer without being hassled by someone wanting to play the heavy. The disrespect, smirky attitude, and lack of respect was something I've never experienced before. We will never be back, EVER! I had high expectations for this spot after reading many of the reviews here. This area is located in an industrial park setting of Sumner literally just off Highway 167. It is far removed from the charm and coolness of the "Downtown" Main Street of Sumner. Still, with limited dining options despite two large hotels nearby, this pizza shop is in a prime location that is starting to grow very rapidly. I have no doubt it will become successful and profitable given the heavy traffic that passes by non-stop especially after this COVID-19 pandemic passes. Onto my experience...They have an online order system in place but that's only for delivery using GrubHub or DoorDash (I am a fan of neither). So if you want to order and pick-up, you must call in to place your order and use their drive thru to pick it up. Annoying, as your wait in the drive thru line can be long. While waiting in the drive thru line, stopped and in park I was answering a quick text. Surprisingly, I got a lecture from the "Window Witch." Was it me not wearing a face diaper? No. I was texting and driving according to her and breaking the law and she frowned on that. Wonderful! What a way to treat a first time customer. (Especially, since I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Express-Extended Stay for the next month until my new home is built) Onto the important stuff. The food. I ordered the 18 Wheeler Pizza that so many people here have raved about. I also ordered a Caeser Salad. The pizza was O.K. Not bad. Very average. Nothing memorable. Their "Caeser" salad was pitiful and came with two plastic ramekins of Ranch dressing and two small generic packages of very small croutons. Their Caeser Salad was awful. I felt bad eating the slightly brown and tired pieces of iceburg lettuce (I put them out of their misery with my own actual bottle of Caeser salad dressing and parm cheese...and my own black pepper). I've had better salads from a gas station. All that said, I really feel bad for this place. They will one day figure it out. As for me, they lost quit a bit of potential business as I will be residing in a hotel across the street for the next month (at least). I haven't decided which is worse.....the food or the employee's attitude. Either way, I won't be returning. read more
