We have eaten at Fauna , formerly Star Boggs over the last 25 years . Sunday was our first night at Fauna the new owners have kept the quality and integrity of the original Starr . We had a lovely waitress, very attentive.. we had the fish special and the duck , both of our dinners were cooked well and very delicious. We were out on a beautiful night sitting outside on the back patio . The place was very buzzing and we did not feel overwhelmed. Our desert was a berry cobbler with oat topping, very Gluten free. As a lover of Flora it made sense I would try Fauna. Our first impression was how beautiful the restaurant truly was from the outside, it was floral and encapsulated the Hamptons vibe. On the front door was a honor to Star Boggs done right. As we went in, we were surprised about how big the interior was. It was packed but didn't feel overcrowded. We ordered a multiple of items but some things that deserve a shot out were the insanely fresh oysters and thin but crispy French fries. Overall this made my dads birthday dinner truly special and we will definitely be returning. 10/10 read more

The service is better than it was when they opened. The food hasn't improved much. The menu is almost identical to last year. Most of the dishes are filled with ingredients that make no sense in the context of the dish. They overpower the main ingredient or are completely irrelevant. The Lobster Carbonara is filled with big chunks of lobster whose flavor is completely obliterated by the prep. The Tuna is a beautiful piece of fish with completely inappropriate garnishes. Luckily, if you just eat the Tuna, it's a nice dish. Chimichurri sauce on Tuna? The sauce overpowered the delicate, flavorful Tuna. The scallop special had "bacon foam". Okay, interesting. How do you turn a meat into foam? You take "rendered bacon" (ie, liquid bacon fat) and mix it with heavy cream, then whip the result. I swear my arteries clogged up just from hearing the description. The appetizers were similarly disappointing. I'm really rooting for this place to succeed, but these dishes won't do the job. We won't be coming back unless the menu is seriously overhauled. read more

Excellent service! The food was perfectly prepared. For apps, we ordered the Mushroom pate, Bison carpaccio, pork belly all tasty preparations. Shrimp Cocktail appetizer was generic. The table orders 2 orders of the Porterhouse for 2, NY Strip cook to perfection. The squid ink lobster carbonara and the flounder received high marks. While the sides were tasty the portion size could have been a bit larger. To summarize, a solid place for a meal in Westhampton. read more

What a joy to experience this new restaurant located in what was an iconic restaurant for over 40 yrs. The old Starr Boggs was sold and now Fauna is in its place. Sadly, Starr passed not long after he sold it but Fauna has memorialized him in a few ways that is not only gracious and respectful but also just nice of them to do. It makes the many locals and summer residents that frequented Starr Boggs weekly for many years feel as though it's not all gone. As for the food at Fauna you won't be disappointed. They kept an "Ode to Starr" favorite almond crusted flounder but, also have an excellent menu. From appetizers to dessert I know everyone will find something they love. This is part of the Rooted restaurant group opening their 2nd restaurant in Westhampton Beach. So if you Love Flora like I do, you'll probably Love Fauna as well. Cheers to Fauna!! My wife and I went to Fauna during restaurant week in November to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. During the summer this very popular restaurant was difficult to get a reservation to so we figured going in November would make for a delightful dinner. Well, the place was packed and we didn't get seated for a half hour past our reservation time. Then, due to the crowds we didn't get anything but water for another half hour. So, you are probably wondering why I give Fauna a 5 star review. Here's why. When the manager got word about what was going on she promised to make the rest of the evening special. Wow, did she live up to her word. I won't go into all she did to make the evening special but when we left we couldn't stop telling so many people about how great our experience was. It was amazing as was the food. They also gave us a gift certificate to come back and we can't wait to use that gift certificate. We had an incredible experience here for dinner on a bustling Saturday night. Our server, Angela, was very knowledgeable about the menu and help guide our decisions beautifully. We were all very happy with our drinks and meals. The kale salad was so outstanding, we ordered it to go in the following days, as a side to our bbq meals back at the house. Been going to their other location flora for a few years now so we wanted to try here for my mother's birthday. Atmosphere, food and service was great. Our server was really attentive, friendly, and gave us some great suggestions. Highly recommend the duck l'orange it was extremely tasty, tender and refreshing, the oysters were fresh and excellent, and the kale side salad with peanuts was so good we all tried it. Went here during Winter restaurant week. My first time. Everything was fabulous from cocktails to food to service! Had the hot and dirty martini! Yum! Definitely worth a try! We started with the Bershire pork belly which was really good. We asked the waiter his suggestion on the entree and he suggested the Signature chicken. This did not disappoint at all!!! We are usually more beef or fish eaters so were a little apprehensive about getting chicken. This was one of the best chickens we have ever eaten. We had to wait 30 min for our table even though we had a reservation, super frustrating. Normally if this happens, i expect them to bring something over for free, which they did not. We're a group of 5 mid 20s adults and we definitely felt like they didn't take us seriously due to our age. Service was very eh, we kept having to flag our waiter down just to get water. We went to the for the first time last night for dinner and it was overall a great experience. We had a reservation for 8 o'clock, but they weren't able to seat us until fifteen after. That was kind of frustrating because we were starving, but at the same time we understand that it's impossible to make people leave their tables. After that the service was super quick. The food was delicious, I ordered the flounder and my friend ordered the wedge salad. We both had no complaints with our food! I should also mention that the portions were very generous. Expensive and Disappointing Service We had high expectations for this restaurant as we love Flora and the same owners restaurants in Hampton Bays. Maybe an off night, but out drinks took 45min (2 glasses of wine and 1 beer, not complicated), lovely waitress, but constantly upselling- please don't ask if we want bread if it's not complimentary and make us ask, our food was good to very good, but over priced - $26 for a Ceaser Salad, stale cracker/croutons, and clearing our plates before everyone was finished. I understand wanting to turn table, but we ordered right away, not our fault service was slow. Won't be back, unfortunately. read more

My family and I have been to Fauna on several occasions for happy hour. However, during our latest visit the waitress was condescending and rude when she refused to serve my oldest daughter (who is 28 years old) because she claimed that her license was not a real federal ID. She laughed in our faces stating that her license was fake at the discretion of her and her manager. She did not respond when we asked whether she scanned the license or what her reasoning was to declare that this ID was, in her opinion, fake. Due to this we decided to leave the restaurant and will not be returning. There are much better, friendlier establishments in Westhampton Beach to provide business to. read more
