Randomly heard about Favoloso so we decided to try them out. They're located in between Dang Good and Dutch Bakery. We've been twice now and happy to see they've spruced up the place. Staff was friendly and dropped a jug of water for our table. The menu is short and sweet; pasta, pizza, lasagna, salad & platters and dessert. Trip #1 We dropped in on a Tuesday (around 12:30pm) and it wasn't busy. - Penne all'amatriciana ($16.99) - a simple tomato sauce, bacon and topped with Parmesan cheese. The sauce was fantastic! A hint of sweetness but overall, well balanced. This one was the winner of the two. - Pesto penne ($14.99) - I went with the pesto which was topped with Parmesan cheese. Tasty but a touch salty. The side of pizza bread was light and chewy. Trip #2 We dropped in on a Monday evening (around 5:30pm) and the place filled up in a hurry. - Speck ($17.99) - tomato sauce, mozzarella, speck and mushrooms. We liked the pizza more than the pasta. Dough was thin, slightly crispy and with a good bite. Liked how it wasn't soggy in the middle. - Fresh tagliatelle ($15.99) - homemade meat sauce, Parmesan cheese and pizza bread. Pasta was too soft and had no bite/wasn't al dente. L wanted more meat sauce too. Decent Italian mom and pop shop but a touch pricey. read more

Favoloso is a traditional Italian pizzeria located just off the traffic circle at 118 Ave and Groat Road. While I haven't had the opportunity to dine in yet, my takeout experiences from them have been excellent. Definitely some of the best pizza in Edmonton. They have a lengthy menu listing any classic pizza you could imagine, including plenty of vegetarian options. I highly recommend the 4 formaggi pizza for the best cheese pizza you've ever had! Seriously. The mascarpone and white sauce takes it to the next level. They also make an excellent margherita pizza. Their vegetarian pizza is made with a pesto sauce which is a unique take but if you're craving red sauce, go for the reggio instead. They don't offer in-house delivery but they're on both Skip and Uber. You also always have the option to pickup yourself or dine in. read more

I work in the same complex as favoloso and finally decided to give it a try. We were all upset when captain Scott's closed but I can say with confidence that favoloso is better. I ordered a pizza and it was ready in 7 minutes. The owner chatted with me while I waited and he is such a sweet guy. He told me that he wants to have daily specials for risotto, lasagna, or gnocchi and do a different style each week on its day. I think this is a great idea and I can't wait to sink my teeth into some of the other dishes. The pizza I got was phenomenal, the crust was crispy but not dry, it has a good level of toppings, and the size was good. I am happy to say I finished it in one sitting. They also have Caffe options and I want to try their kinder beuno latte one day when I'm craving something sweet. You should definitely eat here. I will probable never eat pizza from anywhere else in the city. If you enjoy small family owned establishments. That serve authentic food made in house from scratch. Then eat here. It is quaint, quiet and very clean. The Food. The pizza crust is perfection. It is so thin and crusty. It is so light and airy. The pizzas are so flavorful. We also had the lasagna. It was hearty and delicious. Fresh homemade tiramisu. Yum. Portions were well sized and the prices were very fair. This place was an awesome find! Every time I'm in Edmonton I try to find a new, privately owned restaurant. This is one of the best, if not the best place I've been to, in the city. The atmosphere is awesome, and the music and aroma when you come in, set the tone. We had the lasagna, (which is a northern Italian style lasagna), the spaghetti al pesto, the tiramisu, and the chocolate salami. Everything was delicious. Plates came out one at a time, but only a few seconds of wait time in between, to make sure every dish came to the table at its appropriate temperature. Giorgio was a great host. He was very accommodating, funny, and patient with us while we took our time and asked many questions. He explained where he sourced his ingredients, and the regions of Italy, where his recipes originated. His wine suggestion was also spot on. If you want an authentic experience, that somehow makes you feel like you've wound up at a long lost Italian family members home... this place is for you. We will definitely be back! read more

We went in on an early Friday evening as I knew that it currently closes at about 8pm (hopefully, it will be able to stay open a bit later as more people come for an evening sweet or pasta or pizza). It is a new place in the 118th Ave Circle strip mall (opposite the one where Sherbrooke Liquors is). Its goal is to be a neighbourhood spot. It is family owned, the owner, Giorgio came from Verona (his sister lives here in Edmonton) with his family and makes his home here now :-) I gave it a 3, but would rather give it a 3.5 given my overall experience and that it has only been open for about 4 months. The space is very simple, but bright and the food is made fresh, once ordered, including the pizza (they make their own dough, do not have it brought in from another baker :-) ). The menu is up in front, adjacent to the counter so once up there, you can order straightaway. One thing, given the location and the residents that live in the area that will patron the spot, is that they need to either have a sign that says to "Order here" or need to have the "host/hostess" welcome new patrons and let them know how things work. I say this having lived in this area a number of years and our older neighbourhood members are willing and WILL patron new places if they are helped along to "know" how things work. I witnessed this happen on this evening when I was there--an older couple came in and not knowing how things work, sat down and waited....and waited and then left :-( It is a learning curve for the new owners (from Italy where things work differently) and us too. If the couple had not been shy (unlike me, because I did ask how things work), they would have been able to enjoy a very nice pizza (my companion ordered this) and/or Penne Trentino which I ordered. Both were cooked well -- the pizza was perfectly cooked and not crispy or soggy, and the penne were al dente and not overflowing in sauce :-) For dessert we had a nice tiramisu', a piece of crostata, and a newer white and dark chocolate mousse dessert that, admittedly, the owner noted he wasn't happy with because of the cookie crumbs having come out more fine than he wanted...he was right and kindly didn't charge us for it (I was willing to try it anyway). While we were there, others came in and based on the hostess seeing these folks come in, went to them directly to talk with them, introduce the new place and explain how ordering works :-) We are planning on making our way to this spot in the mornings when the weather gets better for caffe'/cappuccino and a cornetto since it is open on Saturday and Sunday mornings :-) With the exception of the one hiccup I mention above, Giorgio is a very nice person as are all who work there and more so, are glad to be in Edmonton and be a part of the Sherbrooke/Westmount/Woodcroft neighbourhood :-) I happily do recommend a stop in for a bite to eat and perhaps even a quick chat with the owner who is glad to meet new people and prepare foods to be enjoyed :-) read more

My friend wasn't hungry so she ordered a green salad and bread. She was charged as much or more than as me with my lasagna. She won't be back. I think that was a mistake for the owner to charge that much. The lasagna was ok the second time. I think it was from the batch I had on my first visit. What a shame. Wow. Finally some home made pizza and pasta in my area. I'm having the lasagna and it's delicious. Next time it will be pizza. read more

One waitress, one cook. One wall is painted, one isn't. Food comes out one at a time. It's very well proportionate to a person with a healthy appetite. There's a talkative mother or wife in the kitchen, sounds just like mia nonna...unfortunately the waitress is always missing in action. But over all the washrooms are beautiful and the food is fantastic. Italian cook came to say hello. Very friendly. Only in business for 13 months. Things will get better. This a great little place off 118 ave and St.Albert Trail. The guy that opened the restaurant is directly from Italy and you can tell by the way the food is made! We were so excited to see a new restaurant open at circle square and to boot an Italian pizza/pasta place, walking in your greeted like you are family you walk to the counter to order your meal and they have such a lovely selection of pizzas, to salad and pasta, on this day we just ordered a pizza I wish I took pictures because this review will not do it justice let me say it was the best pizza I ever had! Fresh homemade crust the toppings (kids like pepperoni pizza) but it had a beautiful kick with hot peppers well not too hot but I very much enjoyed it even my children who are very picky loved the pizza, we also ordered the tomato, mozzarella salad and I was in heaven! We will definitely return this quaint restaurant can be your cafe to meet friends as the have a variety of coffees, dessert, and a great place to meet friends and family for dinner. read more

Been here a few times and love it, the pizza I have tried has artichokes, ham and black olives with a thin crust, so tasty. I also tried the tiramisu and it was the best I have ever tasted, the coffee drinks are really good too, service is great! Definitely check this place out :) read more

Stopped there last night to try it out. Pizza was fantastic, thin crust and great sauce very authentic. Very welcoming owner and staff. I hear the pasta is also great so will try that out on the next outing along with the desserts (could hear people a couple of tables over saying how good the dessert was) Great addition to the neighborhood. I've been to many Italian restaurants, in countries the world over. Giorgio at Favoloso is an example of the hospitality that Italians are famous for. His pizza is the ultimate expression of his craft, the dough is light, airy, and crisp. The toppings are generous but are left to let the pie in all of its parts shine through. His salads are reminiscent of the Tuscan cuisine I experienced only 2 years ago. Fresh, with balanced players, working in harmony to create a delicious symphony that is a delight to the last note. His spaghetti was cooked perfectly, and his meat sauce is balanced and rich, the type of richness that leaves your tastebuds intrigued as to how something could be so balanced, and yet finish so smoothly. "Truly authentic Italian food" Since I discovered Favoloso Café and Pizzeria every other "Italian" place in the city just doesn't measure up any more. The food is fresh, simple, made from scratch and delicious, just about every reason authentic Italian food is renowned for. I was born and raised in Italy and I am telling you folks it doesn't get more authentic then this. I have gone to Favoloso for lunch with a big group of colleagues, by my self, took my family for dinner, ordered take out for a corporate event or just on a casual week-day evening.....no matter what the occasion I was never disappointed and walked out feeling amazing. The place is modern, clean and inviting. Giorgio the owner/chef goes above and beyond to make everyone feel special and welcome. On my multiple visits I have tried a bit of everything: - the pizza is simply the best you will have in the city - the lasagna made from scratch, multipe times a week, is fantastic comfort food on a cold day - the carpaccio paired with complimentary flat bread fresh off the oven is one of my lunch favourites - tiramisu (again made fresh in the house) is to die for - Pastas, coffes and salads are all delicious Check out this special place I guarantee you won't be disappointed!!!! read more
