    Cheese ravioli in meat sauce.
    Mark O.

The service was very attentive. Members of management were active on both the front line and in the dining room, whether it was serving breadsticks or giving direction to their team members. That was pleasant to see and is just about the only highlight of the experience. I think Fazoli's has paid to much attention trying to be Panera with the real plates and real silverware--and not enough on the food. Ravioli was bland; the filling was lifeless. A defibrillator would not have revived the pasta or the sauce. The salad could use quite a bit of improvement. Some sad Romaine lettuce, a smack of shredded mozzarella, and two grape tomatoes don't make a salad. Needed something to add color--onion, cucumber, etc. I used the balsamic vinaigrette dressing (comes in packets) and the dressing was nothing spectacular either. No herbs or seasonings came through; the dressing tasted like someone just dumped cruets of oil and vinegar together and called it a dressing. For the price, (I dropped $11), you're just as well going off to Olive Garden for the same tasteless experience; at least they have Zuppa Toscana there and its unlimited.

I went to Fazoli's in Ankeny on 1st Street. When I was there I noticed the sign that says this, buy $20 in gift cards and get $5 off your next visit. When I went in I bought 4 $25 gift cards and two $50 gift cards totaling $200 in gift cards. They gave me six $5 cards. I told them the sign says $5 for every 20 I should have gotten 10. They said no you get a $5 card with every purchase of a card that's $20 or more, so since I only had six cards I only get six $5 coupons. I told them the sign says $5 for every $20, and every time they would read the sign back to me they would say no it's $5 for every $20 card or more, and that's not what the sign says. I asked them if I were to come in here and buy 10, $20 cards would I get 10 of them? They said yes. So I said I want a refund on these cards and I'll come back in and buy them that way and they told me I couldn't get a refund on cards already purchased. I have to talk to the manager they said the manager was not there. I got in my car and left and called within 5 minutes asked to talk to the manager and he answered the phone. When I told him I should have gotten 10 he would come out and read the sign again to me and he would read with the purchase of $20 "or more"which is not what the sign says. Only after telling the manager I would turn him into the Better Business Bureau ect. because this sign is false advertisement he offered to give me the other 4, $5 cards. The star rating is not for the food but the customer service and I put it one star because they wouldn't let me do this review without a rating so I couldn't have zero. Here is the sign:

if i could give this place negative stars I GLADLY WOULD!!! i ordered the crispy chicken bacon ranch salad and had it delivered to my work. as i started eating it i noticed something odd looking in the salad and i told my coworkers because it didn't blend with the salad. there was nothing black in my salad besides this little thing i seen. i take it out and all my coworkers say it's a bug. they turned flashlights on it and kept repeating that it was a bug. i called the store and was immediately laughed at by 2 female servers or cashiers whoever it was that answered the phone, she was having a conversation in the background laughing about how i placed the bug in the food. then the manager proceeds to tell me that he can't give me a refund and that he doesn't know what it is that's in my food. i proceeded to have a screaming match and cursing the manager out for not listening to anything i said and he had no concern for my health or the quality of the food he was serving to locals. might i add i have a stomach disease that prevents me from eating a lot of food, i specifically ordered a salad because i couldn't eat the mexican food that was being provided to us at work. this was my first time ever ordering and eating something from fazolis and let me tell you i will NEVER be returning. they have the absolute worst customer service, they have the rudest workers, the worst manager, and disgusting food infested with bugs. NEVER EAT HERE

Ridiculously long wait in drive Thru. No one in restaurant and they can't get pasta and breadsticks out quickly?? Don't waste your time.

It's in the same building as Filet Steakhouse. Down on the Southeast corner... It's not exactly what I expected. Don't expect the atmosphere of Baratta's, Latin King, or Cosi Cucina. The front dining area is more informal. Don't take that wrong though... I'm not taking anything away from it. The place has a great vibe to it and I felt comfortable. I loved the NYC themed decor and the look of the place. There is at least one more dining area called the Manhattan room. I'm not sure if this is a private room or what it exactly takes to get in there... It sure looked pretty classy through the doorway though! The process is more or less order at the front counter. Pay when you order. Seat yourself. Self serve drinks (Coke products). Silverware and napkins can be picked up by the drink station. While you order at the counter the food is brought to your table when it is ready. Seating is all low top tables and chairs along with a few stools at the bar. I noticed a few people picking up menus, going to a seat and browsing the menu and then going up to order. This is probably what I would do next time if I was ordering anything but the pizza by the slice. The service we had was really good. From the gentlemen at the front counter and register...along with the staff who were working the floor dropping off food and bussing tables. The menu is quite extensive! Everyone can find something. Appetizers, soup, salads, pizza by the slice, round pies, square pies, thin and crispy, gluten free... Calzones, hot and cold sandwiches, pasta dishes, chicken and shrimp entrees, salmon, desserts, and kids meals. While I do like pizza... And they have a HUGE selection of pies in all kinds of combinations...by the slice or baked fresh... We both tried pasta dishes. 1x Shrimp Parmigiana 1x Stuffed Shells sub alfredo 2x House salads (creamy parm and blue cheese) 2x Fountain drinks Complimentary bread with our entrees The wait for our food was short. Our salads came out first. Everything was fresh and tasted good. One thing... Some of the pieces of lettuce could have been chopped a smaller. Made it a little harder to manage than it should have been... Easy fix though... Make sure you grab a knife. I'm not sure if that's normal or if it was a one off. Not a big deal. The pasta dishes hit the table along with the complimentary bread... If you go here just for pizza by the slice... You're really missing out! Their pasta dishes would easily rival any of the places I listed above when I mentioned atmosphere. The portions are large. I had to do something that I don't normally do. I took some home for the next day. I'm usually the guy who gets irritated because someone writes... "I can easily make three meals out of what I was served...!" When I order the same thing where they are...and I clean my plate. Lol All in all a great meal and I think we spent in the mid-$60 range before tip. Definitely going to back to check out some of the other items on the menu... And the pizza! https://nonnaspizzapastas.com/

For an appetizer we ordered the onion rings. They are shoestring rings which are my boyfriend's favorite and he loved these. His only complaint was that they needed more salt, but there was some at the table so he just added his own. The ranch that comes with them is also very good. For pizza, we split the Northsider and thought it was delicious. The pepperoni they have is so good. I'm not sure where they are getting it, but it's my favorite pepperoni. To us, it seemed a little pricey for pizza, but it was so delicious we thought it was worth it. We typically don't eat all our leftover pizza, but there was not a single slice left over. The service is wonderful and they even let us know ahead of time that pizza was running a little longer when we ordered which didn't bother us, but it was appreciated they told us. They even box your leftovers up which is so appreciated. Everyone was kind, the pizza was 10/10, and the drinks were cold. We will be back!

The soup came out piping hot and very cheesy as I would expect. The broth and onions were good with the rye croutons they use adding slight mushroom-flavored undertones. Uptown Food and Beverage was a fabulous stop, combining a tremendously cozy setting (booths/tables), ease of parking, location, and remarkable historic photos lining their walls. This place works well. Luckily, we had a superb server for our maiden voyage, as Adriana rocked! She helped us with menu options and was both kind and knowledgeable. We shared a tasty Caesar salad, and I appreciated that they served the dressing on the side without requesting it. Their thinner-crust pizza is delicious! We selected two, ordering their Margherita (olive oil, fresh chopped garlic, sweet basil, and topped with aroma tomatoes) and their Spicy Italian 16" options. Wowowowowowowowow! Both pizzas were fabulous, maintaining their consistency, and simply delicious. Thanks to fellow Yelper Dan T for his Spicy Italian recommendation. Sure, we brought home a lot of pizza, but this weekend will be better because of it. I learned they have a good lunch buffet (11-130PM), and we arrived during their 5-7 PM weekday Happy Hour but did not explore it. I had heard about their onion rings and saw an order at a nearby table that had me yearning for them on our next visit.

It's been a minute since I dropped out a review on one of my favorite pizza spots in the metro…read more Uptown Food and Beverage Co. in Ankeny! Not to be confused with Uptown Garage Brewing (also in Ankeny) or Uptown Bar & Grill in Grimes... I've been ordering and eating pretty much the same thing here since it was Encore Pizza in Johnston. Lol A large Spicy Italian pizza Italian cheese sticks And a fountain drink... Dennis Gibson opened Encore Pizza in Johnston years ago. He started out as an Ankeny Hawk, went on to ISU (he's an ISU hall of famer), was drafted by the Detroit Lions and later played for the San Diego Chargers and led his team to a Super Bowl appearance. And he's a heck of a nice guy... I loved Encore Pizza, but Dennis missed his hometown I guess and wanted to be headquartered in the community he grew up in. Encore Pizza closed and he opened a larger location in Ankeny and rebranded it Uptown Food and Beverage Co. Many of the menu items carried over from Encore to UF&BC and the menu has expanded past what it was. And another carry over is the high backed booths... Which I dearly love! These booths are big enough to seat six people easily... Seating at UF&BC is a bar and bar stools, both low and high top tables and chairs, and the aforementioned high backed booths. There is street parking along Maple and SW 3rd St. and a couple small parking areas within easy walking distance. Because of the parking and adjacent businesses you can be deceived on how busy Uptown Food and Beverage Co. looks. We arrived for lunch a little before noon yesterday. That's late for a Saturday lunch for us... Parking was pretty full, but when we walked in there was only one other couple in the restaurant... More people arrived in the next hour, but it wasn't near as busy as it looked from outside. Don't let a lot of cars be your barometer. Stick your head in or give them a call. They may not be as busy as you think they are. Italian Cheese Sticks... Five sticks breaded in Italian flour, fried golden brown, served with a cup of marinara Obviously hand cut and always served hot and molten! The Spicy Italian is described as red and Alfredo sauces, hot Italian sausage, banana peppers and jalapeños. This is probably my favorite pizza in the entire metro and as close as I get to thin crust. It is a thin crust, but it's not cracker thin. Rarely do I deviate from these two items. When it comes to UF&BC I'm a creature of habit or a one trick pony if you will... But I've never ordered anything off the menu that has disappointed me. The staff here is always top notch. Quick to greet you at the hostess station just to the Right as you walk in the door. Always on top of refills. And they check on you enough to make sure you have what you need, but not too much that they are bothersome. Your order is taken at the table and that's where your bill is presented and taken at the end of your meal. Cash and cards (but not American Express). For you lunch buffet fans there is a pizza and salad buffet Monday through Friday from 1100 AM - 130 PM. You can also order off the menu during the buffet hours if buffets aren't your jam... Truly one of my favorite spots in the metro and will never drop out of my rotation! https://uptownfoodandbeverage.com/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063493183495
