Came to this establishment based on things I saw on the menu from my location. I was happy to see certain things. I just felt like I had to try it. Took a drive over to check out the place. It was cool on the inside. Had plenty of seats for dining and waiting area for your food to get done. Also had a tv on the inside. Service was cool. They have different areas to order from. If u want hot food and salads, order on the right. Hoagies and hero's and sandwiches you order on the left. Great system. I got a bologna hoagie with pepperjack cheese. It was not what I expected. The bologna was sliced super thin and was shiny. Didn't like it. I ordered disco fries which consisted of gravy and cheese on the fries. Wasn't a fan. Also last on the list (the thing I specifically came here for) was deviled eggs. You don't find those on many menus. Not tasty at all. They have a lot of other items on the menu. They serviced plenty of other customers that day too. So people seem to enjoy. Just not for me. Thank you though. read more

FD Subs has been at this location in Ewing Plaza Shopping Strip for a few decades with different owners and levels of satisfaction. When I stopped in this week for late lunch of a turkey/swiss sub, the wall menu looked like it had been hung in the last century. Still, it was extensive and provided succor for the famished. It wasn't open for in house dining yet, but the husband wife team were well versed in their menu and demonstrated prodigious production skills. Their strong suit was that everything for the sandwich contents was cut on demand, and thus as fresh as possible; and decent torpedo rolls (really the most important element of the creation) were pulled from a bag only as needed. My Honey Turkey and Swiss hoagie with shredded lettuce, mayo and hot/sweet peppers wasn't zoftig, but ample enough to warm and fill the belly of the beast. I enjoyed it. I have been on a deli kick of late, and FD was about as rewarding as the other local family run shops in the region. Good to help keep all of them in business by chosing mom & pop businesses open and thriving, rather than those factory like places that offer gasoline as a side dish. read more

I have been there a few times and had some of the best onions rings. I went today and ordered onion rings and to my surprise was given some trashy onion rings. Not what I expected or paid for. Don't let the rinky dink outside (or inside) throw you off...there is a splendor of subs (or hoagies for you southerners) being created inside! Its dim lights, 90's pizza parlor decor and chalkboard menu is the stuff Yelp was created for! Sadly it is currently off the Yelp radar...but here is my review to change all that. Just try not to get overwhelmed with all the scrumptious options on their menu. After being open for over 20 years, this spot KNOWS what you like, baby. My coworkers got a variety of their subs which were all made fresh in front of us with generous heaping piles of meat and veggies. I got an Italian cheesesteak which had roasted peppers, fresh mozzarella, onions and spinach on a freshly baked roll. I got the half thinking, I would watch my portions and let's just say ...they don't give a $#!T about your calorie counting. Quick and delicious! I loved that they used red onions for the subs, it was a perfect compliment to the meat!

I haven't been here in a while since I no longer work in the area. And upon walking in, I frankly wasn't expecting too much. I have to give credit to the kid at the deli slicer. I ordered an Italian sub with everything on it. He not only utilized a deft hand with the application of seasonings; he looked like he was preparing the sandwich as if it were his....with care. Best hoagies I have ever had. Hands down. They don't skimp on the meat portions on the sandwiches and you get alot of food for the price. The rolls are from a bakery in Trenton, and if you're from the area, you know that's good stuff. If you prefer smaller portion sizes, their mini hoagies on half torps (torpedo rolls) are great. Salads are delicious as well. If you want to try something different, the daily specials menu always has something pleasing. The owner has a real knack for throwing great flavors together to make a delicious meal. The store has been recently renovated and looks great. Great food! Freshly sliced meats and cheeses make for yummy hoagies. Only complaint I've had is that they wanted me to return food when they gave me the wrong side order. As far as authentic style subs, you can't beat FD. I have been a fan of this place for years. Oddly, they've changed owners probably 3 or more times over the last decade or so and yet still do a fantastic job of making subs. The atmosphere is fast-foody, nothing special. Although I think I've eaten in maybe 3 times in the 4 or 5 dozen times I've been there. The menu is huge for a sandwich place. I can't speak to the hot meals or sides as I've never had any. But these guys make subs like no one else around. Each sub is made with freshly sliced meats and cheeses. No pre-cut meat sitting out all day. They make them fresh like the old days and that makes these guys one of a kind. I've found very, very few places around that do it that way. The options are great, the breads, meats and cheeses are fresh. This is how a sub is supposed to be. If you've only ever had a sub from Subway or Quiznos, PLEASE try FD for the real thing! read more

We often order fro FD Subs on Saturdays when our work cafeteria is closed. As time has gone on, the food has changed. Not for the better. The final straw came today when I ordered a cheese burger. I advised I needed it wrapped in foil since I am allergic to styrofoam. I told the woman on the phone about my allergy and she indicated that she understood. Food shows up, my burger and fries come in a styrofoam container. I call FD and speak to the same lady. She acts surprised about it and says " you don't want the container. I said no! I'm allergic. She advises she will send the burger back over "free of charge" but she won't be sending the fries. I asked her to send them wrapped in foil. She refused. I asked her if that would give me a refund and she said free of charge and hung up. My co-worker who was nice enough to go get the food because I was assisting a customer, said they practically threw the food at her. No fries. Cheeseburger was only alright. This place changed owners about 2 or 3 yrs ago. My boo loves hoagies so we are pretty much well versed in hoagie places. This used to be a go to place for us. We would even sit down and eat. This was our 1st time visiting in about 2 yrs because we decided to give it a second chance. Remember this USED TO BE a great hoagie place. The last time we tried it out good just did not sit well on our stomachs. The bread gets a special mention because that's what makes or breaks a hoagie for me and their bread just didn't live up to my standards. This time my boo had the Roasted Turkey and Provolone with everything on it. I had a mayo, lettuce, tomatoe and onion (veggie). Boy oh boy, this was not good at all. I ate my entire veggie sandwich and I felt fine but was not really satisfied with my sandwich taste wise and it was so basic. But my boo, only finished half the hoagie because it just did not taste good and felt sick in the hours after. Horrible experience!!!!! Got the buffalo chicken wrap. The chicken tasted like fake rubber chicken. I went to the oriental lady up front and told her it didn't taste right and she literally took a piece of it out the freezer, hit it on the counter top to break it open to show me it was real and then threw the same broken piece back into the pile in the freezer! It still looked fake when she broke it in half. I stayed relaxed and asked nicely if i could order something else. She tells me only the same thing can be ordered even though I just got done telling her it didn't taste right and after seeing her throw that other piece, that she hit on the counter, back into the bag. Great place! Good food, good service, but everyone that works their makes the sandwiches different. Some make it better than others... I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap a few times, most of the time it was good but other times it was soggy and literally dripping water the whole time I was eating it. Consistency is key, so this place must work on that. read more

My GF likes the salad selection (Grilled Shrimp especially) The daily specials keep things changing on a regular basis and I vow to eat enough to get one named after me. Finally made it to FD Subs. I left very happy. They have a huge menu with a great variety of cold subs, hot subs, cheesesteaks and fries. Definitely pickup a menu when you're there because you're bound to miss something staring at the endless choices on the menu board. I wish they had an online presence I couldn't find a menu or specials list online (there was no website/facebook,etc listed on menu). Great portions, good prices, fries were good. There is nothing special about the subs here. The bread could have been fresher and softer. When I saw the large variety of subs available, I thought I was in for a treat, but not really. Not much seating, but then not many customers, a possible warning. Subs are a bit pricey also. The counter person refused to give me a cup of water when I asked. This place is HORRIBLE. They hang up on my company when we order big orders and we spend over $100/week with this place. They tell us that we can't put our orders together which is ridiculous when we all work in the same department. We were somewhere around Ewing on the edge of the suburbs when the hunger began to take hold. I remember saying something like "I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive...." And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about a hundred miles an hour with the top down to Trenton. My attorney had taken his shirt off and was pouring Red Cream Soda on his chest, to facilitate the tanning process. "What the hell are you yelling about?" he muttered, staring up at the sun with his eyes closed and covered with wraparound Spanish sunglasses. "Never mind," I said. The food is good. But never have it delivered or order for pick up. It's always WRONG or MISSING something. And this isn't the first time. It's happened on too many occasions in the past. Today, I ordered 3 sandwiches and 2 were wrong out of the 3. I ordered a Chicken Parm Hoagie it had no red sauce and the roll wasn't toasted. Needless to say it was super dry. The 2nd hoagie, a honey turkey provolone hoagie was dry because they toasted the roll on this one in error, instead of on the Chicken Parm, so the bread was extremely hard. I finally decided this time I would call and bring this to the manager's attention. When I later called during my afternoon break to inform the Manager of the 2 errors, I told him I wasn't looking to be compensated but thought he would appreciate honest feedback. He was super defensive and insisted that they didn't make any mistakes. He told me they don't get many complaints, if they did, they wouldn't be in business. No one expects perfection. We all make mistakes, but the refusal to take constructive criticism from a customer is a big mistake on any business owner's end, especially if you're in the food service industry. I told him most people don't bother complaining, they just simply stop coming to your establishment. I won't be coming back or recommending them to any of my co-workers, because I don't like the way the manager handled the honest feedback. If you make a mistake, OWN IT! Apologize and move on or be willing to lose your most valuable assets - your customers. read more
