I have been coming to International Meat Market for years, back when they were on Lonsdale Ave,…read morewhere they just built Central Falls High School. This newer location is a lot bigger, with a massive parking lot. They are primarily a meat market, so they obviously have a large variety of meat, organized by type (beef, chicken, pork, fish, etc) behind clear cases. The prices are good and they usually have specials on different meats every week. The price per pound also decreases by a little when buying in bulk (10 Ibs +). They have meat packages available too where it comes with a pre-selected variety of meat for a set price. They have an online platform to order packages which saves lots of time by not having to wait in line, and I believe they accept orders by phone too. When ordering in person, they have a number system to order, so you grab a ticket with a number, and they call out the numbers in order to attend to customers in a first come first served fashion. Sometimes, the wait can be 30 min +, not because they are short staffed (there is almost always 8-12 people taking orders), but just because of the amount of people who come in. The meat always looks fresh. The staff is always in a good mood, happy to take orders, very patient, speak Spanish and English (and maybe more languages), and accommodating to requests. For example, they wil cut the meat in any way you wish, you can choose which piece you want, and tell them exactly how much you want. Aside from the meat, they have lots of authentic products from Central/South America, and some Portuguese products as well. They have a produce section with fresh fruits and vegetables, but it is usually more expensive than some grocery stores. They have 3-4 cash registers, so the checkout lines usually don't take longer than 2-10 minutes. Recently, they were celebrating one year of being at this location so to show some appreciation to their customers, they hosted a BBQ with burgers, hot dogs, larcites, and samples of some of their products - very generous.

My comments have been flooded with Market Basket requests since I started this journey. For full transparency, I didn't know MB existed until I started DOGGIN these chickens. I walked in with my production team, and was so caught off guard. Employees smiling from ear to ear while being dressed to the nines, floors squeaky clean, a fresh popcorn station, a delectable looking hot bar, etc. There is just so much soul in here. This is what a family run grocery store looks like before they sell out. You can just tell, this is their baby. They care so much. They put their heart and soul into running these stores, and it shows. I felt like I was in a Bucee's, and I don't know if I could give a higher compliment. Perhaps the most surprising thing of all was the $4.69 rotisserie chicken. This marks the cheapest tissi Chicken Wars has ever seen. Cheaper than Costco and Sam's Club. How are they doing this? My one concern was that the chicken came in saran wrap, which I thought would make the skin all soggy. The other 32 grocery stores I've tried all came in a plastic bag or plastic container. However, I respected the confidence. They're not scared to do something no one else is doing. Talent hits a target no one else can hit, genius hits a target no one else can see. We got this bird and took it to a park down the street, and I began consumption. The skin was ideal, a perfect golden brown with a slight crisp. The saran wrap didn't make it soggy at all. The breast was perfectly tender and was delicious. I didn't need one sip of water throughout the whole bird. The leg was operating at a high level as well, falling off the bone. I sat on this park bench in awe. How? How can this be $4.69, a good size, and this good? It didn't make sense. I'm still struggling to come to terms with it. I ended up giving it an 8.9/10, which makes it tied for 3rd with the Fresh Market. My only critique is it didn't have as much flavor as Fairway or Publix, but it was right there. I was so inspired that I went back in and tried to buy a hat, but they didn't sell any smh. I was especially thankful for this, as we needed a road win in New England. The other 2 birds I tried up here were ROUGH. A nice side effect of this journey has been traveling to try new birds. Every time I travel, I feel like I gain a wealth of knowledge in a short period of time. I grow and learn every time I go to a new place, and to me, that's what life is all about. I bought some chicken sandwich wraps and the lettuce was terrible. Wilted, rotting. And you know how it starts getting slimy as it goes bad. I actually had to pull my sandwich apart to unwrap the lettuce and pull it out. I would not serve that to anyone. And I wasn't going to eat it. I even bought a ready to drink young coconut that comes with a straw. Could not get that thing opened for anything so returned it immediately. I did get a slight taste of it on the straw as I was trying to pry it in and it tasted rancid. The coconut was wrapped in plastic labeling but you could see the oxidation and discoloration on the top. When I returned it I did not even say why and the lady opened the bag and said "oh it's rotten I can already smell it." I like market basket but this should not be happening. Even at another grocery store (WF) the other day a chicken wrap was filled with rotting lettuce. Maybe wraps are now a good place for grocery stores to hide rotting lettuce.
