The food was delicious and the staff seemed friendly except for our waitress Carol who preformed one of the most distasteful acts I have ever witnessed. My sister and I were out with our 90 year old grandmother who has Alzheimer's. My grandmother insisted on paying so when she did she made an honest mistake and didn't tip to the proper 20% as is custom. I noticed that and was going to give Carol the proper tip on the way out the door as I did not want to embarrass my grandmother. Instead of getting the receipt after we had left the restaurant Carol came and took it prematurely. She returned a few seconds later to confront my grandmother about the lack of tip. As someone who has Alzheimer's she was very confused by the whole situation and very embarrassed. As someone who has served in the service industry I have never thought of preforming such a distasteful act or heard of anyone doing such a thing. I would recommend proper training as this was the lowest of the lows to be preformed in a place of service. read more

While most takeout food is much less enjoyable than what's served in the restaurant, Feather and Wedge shines when it comes to take out. We've loved dining at the restaurant pre-COVID, and think the takeout dinners are just as good. Federico's chicken is about as good as roast chicken gets, moist and flavorful, with crispy herb-flavored skin, served along with a generous serving of perfect mashed potatoes and a green vegetable so you can feel virtuous. The fish--salmon and swordfish being favorites-- is also delicious and perfectly cooked. If it's served with noodles, definitely order that. The salad of roasted kabocha squash is also delicious with a zesty dressing and sprinkle of cheese. read more

We had a lovely dinner here last night. The restaurant was extremely busy, but our server, Amy, made us feel very welcome, comfortable, and never rushed. I had the sirloin which was amazing. We stayed at Rockport off season and made reservations to the restaurant, very nice ambiance large windows facing the ocean. Service was great and fast, food was delicious. We recently stayed in Rockport for a gorgeous weather stretch in October. Our motel recommended this restaurant but after spending longer than expected Sea glass picking on Front beach, on our walk down bearskin neck and along Main Street, we noticed how many shops and restaurants were closed for the season. Unfortunately, that made us decide to dine at another Rockport restaurant that offered a view but food was just ok. As we were walking back to our motel, we passed Feathers & Wedge, looked at the posted menu and peered inside, immediately regretting that we didn't try here. We would have stopped for a drink but no room at the lovely bar. This looks like an excellent addition to the Rockport dining scene and we will definitely return with a reservation to give it a try! Vibe seemed great at night but there are 3 nice windows affording a great water view that I'd really enjoy in the daylight! read more

The food was fine. But the service was slow. We sat at the bar and it took an hour for our main entree to arrive. The fact that it took a while and the cook blatantly dismissed the servers request to serve the entree in two portions was almost enough to not say something. But when you have to beg a business to please take your money and they ignore it is what pushed me over the edge. Horrible experience. They need some training. Btw, the place wasn't completely full. From the moment we walked through the door there was no doubt how attentive the wait staff would be... service was wonderful, non-intrusive and constantly, without bothering or interrupting conversations, took care of out needs. The menu was short and to the point. One of the appetizers was crab dip. It was quite good but was served with at least one piece of very stale and very had bread. A nice saltiness to the dip. The deviled eggs with house kimchi was just okay. Not bad, but also not memorable. The leg of lamb was a real disappointment... very dry and the split peas were unremarkable. The mussels was a wonderfully change of pace from the regular fare.... it had a sambal based broth that was a good offering. The shellfish was cooked perfectly and very tender and tasty. The lobster quiche was a big hit. Every morsel cooked to perfection. Finally, the ribeye. Just okay. Undercooked. Medium Rare was requested and it was closer to rare. Don't know if we'll be back or not.... if we do, it will be because of the staff. read more

I'm very sorry to say that I was so disappointed with our experience tonight at Feather & Wedge. Our waitress and staff were wonderful, especially considering how incredibly packed the restaurant was. But the food was disappointing. The broiled oysters were Ok, the smoked bluefish was very good I will say, but the lobster dish with pasta was honestly flavorless, and the nicoise salad was bland as well. Sorry, but at these prices, it should have been much much better. We are locals and won't frequent this restaurant again. read more

The best thing F&W has going is it's ambiance. It's the perfect setting for a nice night out in Rockport. And you can tell people know it. The place is packed. I recommend you make a reservation. Unfortunately the magic stops at your palate. The food is okay. Not bad. Not great. Probably not good enough to go back for since we are located two towns over. The tuna tartar starter was good, if not exciting - the promised "white miso citrus vinaigrette" was a touch milder than i had hoped, but I suppose that meant the fresh delicate tuna flavor could really shine. The housemade pasta with pesto and mozzarella was exquisite and delicious! I had it with the cod supplement, which was nicely seared on one side and yet delicately cooked to translucent tender perfection throughout. For my palate, the cod itself lacked a certain zing of flavor - I might have expected some black pepper in the seared crust. Maybe this was again a choice to let the very light flavor of the fish shine on its own, or perhaps the flavor profile was handicapped by my asking the kitchen to omit their usual crispy pancetta from this dish. The pasta was served with a curiously tough and toothsome slice of olive bread; I like me some chewy gluten formation, but this was too chewy to be a crouton but too dry inside to be readily torn. In any case, all these flaws were minor things, and the dish shone brilliantly regardless. My companion's bricked chicken with bulgur and mirepoix was fantastic - intensely flavorful sauce, pleasant bulgur texture without being hard to chew, and skillfully cooked chicken. The cocktails were fine, if not exciting. The warm chocolate budino was a perfect ending to the meal - moist and warm, with intense chocolate flavor tempered by the cultured cream sauce. read more

Where do I start? A member of my party has an allergy. We called ahead several days in advance to verify that the restaurant could accommodate it. They said they could. Anna our waitress seemed put out by our request. She even told us, that after checking with everyone, in fact we had not called. After convincing her to check, we ordered the duck, the chicken and the beef. The dishes arrived at various times and were warm at best. The beef was tough, the duck incredibly dry and the chicken inedible. It actually smelled like bleach. Overall, what seemed to be a good start to the evening, turned out to be a disaster. Anna didn't even care to find out why we didn't enjoy our meal. She delivered the check and left. Our party of 6 will NEVER return. This is the only time we've experienced such a multitude of service and food failures. read more

We needed a quick, and I mean quick, bite before a show at the Shalin Liu. We quickly discovered that Rockport apparently shuts down after Labor Day. Feather & Wedge seemed to be the only place open in town at 7pm in early November, aside from a dingy-looking pizzeria off of Main Street. We had 40 minutes to be seated, to get our meals, and pay our check; and despite it being a busy Saturday night, the hostess assured us it could be done if we ordered the salads that we wanted. We were lucky that some seats opened up at the bar just as we were ready to sit, and the bartender was on-point immediately clearing the space for us (it's the little things that count). We both ordered the Hot-Smoked Salmon Arugula salad with avocado, and it was outstanding. All of the flavors popped and the price was certainly reasonable. The entrees that we saw coming out of the kitchen also looked excellent, albeit on the expensive side of the spectrum (especially for the offseason). The menu itself was quite limited and geared toward a more sophisticated palate. As the kitchen finds its rhythm and the staff becomes more cohesive, I'm sure that they will be able to expand the menu slightly. A limited menu has benefits though, it means they can put more love into all of their dishes. Overall, 4 stars because the food was great, but the limited menu and moderately expensive entrees prevent 5-star status. I could nitpick some minor service faux pas, but overall the staff did very well and I think they will be able to work out the kinks in due time. Keep up the good work Feather & Wedge! read more

I really enjoyed this place. We went during the week when they were not very busy and I found the service to be pretty good. Seemed like they had great wine, everyone else was drinking it besides us. What a cool place! The restaurant reminded me of a Chelsea bar with a New England coastal vibe. Not to loud, not quiet. You can go with a group or a date and feel right at ease. My husband and I had dinner here the other night and it did not disappoint. We order a dozen Maine oysters that were unbelievably fresh and tasty. Nice size and meaty too. He had ahi tuna dunburi and I had the filet. OMG, the filet was like butter, full of flavor and melt-in-your-mouth goodness. The wine menu was very impressive too. Our server Ana was awesome, she was very friendly and gave us a little history lesson on the area which was great since we were visiting The flourless cake was just ok but overal the experience was amazing :) read more

Reserved a table for 3 last minute for dinner @ 4:30pm. Place was already buzzing with guests waiting to be seated. Very lovely women served my family. Very well versed on tHe menu. Ordered the seafood extravaganza. Mussels, white fish, shrimps and scallop in a nice broth. Presentation was overwhelming when dish was brought to the table. 2nd dish was the Salmon noodle plate. Which my daughter very much liked. The extravaganza seafood dish also came with garlic toast. I would of liked a few small potatoes in the broth which would of sealed the deal over the top. Next we had the REAL blueberry cobbler. I was wondering why the desert took a while to be served. It was because they took the time to warm up the cobbler. What a super nice touch....it came with a very nice creamy scoop of vanilla ice cream...what a perfect desert. Again I suggested that to take it to the next level I suggested to make the scoop a bit larger to help the dinner guests justify the 14.95 price. I am not complaining at all about the desert but being a vanilla ice cream enthusiast I just could not get enough ice cream but who can. My thanks go out to the entire team who make the it all work from the greeter/seater to the waitress to the very important chefs. It is of my opinion that with such a well run operation the chef should visit the guests. It is at this time we the guests can thank the chef for such a great job. We hope to return to the restaurant soon. I would order the same and just maybe the chef would add a few potatoes to the broth if he gets to read this. Reservations mean nothing as multiple parties with reservations were waiting for quite some time. Worst part is the owner was so rude, I will never go back again. It was one of the best meals, from start to finish, that I have had in a long time. The raw oysters were incredibly delicious. My tuna entree was just phenomenal and the desserts were all decadent. We had the best time sampling each other's entrees, one being better than the next. The owner and staff beautifully and graciously served our large party of 13. Hostess needs to be trained to treat customers with respect. We are locals and stoped by Friday night hoping for a table. When we asked if there were any tables, the hostess looked at us without a smile and said No. She had an attitude--as though we were asking for the moon. Look...you are a good restaurant with a good chef. That doesn't mean that your staff should behave as though you are a private club that we, as customers, ate lucky to join.. How about this: "I am sorry sir, but we are full. You are welcome to wait for a bar seat or make reservations for another night." Instead we got. "No." With a snotty expression. Not impressive. Not interested in returning. This is not Paris,!it is Rockport. The hostess should remember that her customers, even those without reservations, may actually be worthy of a polite and appreciative tone. Train you staff please.
