The red light therapy was also relaxing and a nice add on. I am not sure of how effective therapy this is but was given headphones with relaxing music to add to the experience. With my spa services I was also able to use the Diplomat Hotel amenities including pool and beach. Although the pool area was very crowded even on a Monday afternoon and many children, not great if you want to relax, so I headed back to the spa early.

Once you get down below in the parking area, you lose all reception on your cell phone so you have to do it upon entry. After several visits, I've realized that it doesn't matter how beautiful the space is if the environment is consistently disrupted by disrespectful patrons and if staff make no effort to maintain a relaxing atmosphere. During my most recent visit, I checked in an hour early specifically to enjoy the amenities. While I was in the women's sauna, a group of girls were sitting directly outside playing music at full volume, letting their phones ring and ping with notifications, and talking loudly the entire time. Several staff members walked by and said nothing. I moved to the coed area hoping for a more peaceful experience, but instead found a woman in the hot tub with a full tripod setup actively recording. Again, multiple staff members passed without addressing it. I finally went to the front desk to ask whether filming was allowed, and only then did someone approach her, yet she continued recording even after being spoken to. After my treatment I was hoping maybe the people who were disturbing the peace might have left but unfortunately they were still in the women's room, this time one was FaceTiming somebody from the hot tub. It was at this point that I accepted defeat and just decided to leave. I simply cannot wrap my head around how people think it's OK to film and stream in private areas, and how the staff can walk by and say nothing. My actual treatment was fantastic, but it is impossible to overlook how often the relaxation areas are filled with people talking loudly, playing music, and taking videos on their phones in areas were privacy as generally expected. When a spa charges premium prices, guests should reasonably expect a premium experience that protects privacy. I'm not getting that here anymore.

The sauna area in the women's locker room was filled with very loud people who even talked inside the sauna. It was very un-zen like. I think the spa should make sure the areas that people are using are quiet. Also, there is a small room in the back of the locker room with a couch and a chair but it's very small and has no tea and there was a garbage can keeping the door open. That said, the ceiling of the room with wooden planks and the music was very peaceful. For a day pass it can be a good deal to do yoga and relax at the pool but I wouldn't come here for a full on spa experience the treatments looked very expensive for and place that is not super high end, it's nice but not that exclusive or luxurious to warrant such high prices. I actually enjoyed my experience other than the loud women and minor issues. Adding more yoga classes on the weekends would probably bring more people here. There was no availability online, so I called right when they opened at 10 AM and was able to snag an 11 AM appointment. Just something to note when booking: they held 70% of the service charge on my card and automatically added a 22% gratuity. I'm not sure if that's their standard policy or because it was a same-day appointment, but it's helpful to know upfront so there are no surprises. I parked using the Westin valet (it's $5 for 5 hours when you get your ticket validated at the spa desk). Just a heads up: you do have to walk down to street level, and the spa is actually the next building over to the right. It's super close, but if you're expecting it to be inside the main hotel, this will save you a "wait... where am I going?" moment It's next to the Starbucks and there's a secured guest-key access door to enter. If you don't have a key (which you won't unless you're a guest), there's a phone right there that rings directly to the spa desk and they come let you in. Easy once you know. I was shown to the changing area with secure coded lockers where you create your own code. I do wish the front desk attendant had explained how to actually set the locker code (push start enter your code push lock). Even when I asked a second time she kept saying just enter your code on the panel which didn't work for me after she left. I ended up asking the cleaning attendant, who was incredibly kind and helped me right away. The spa amenities themselves are ok -- hot tub, sauna, steam room, and a relaxing lounge area that instantly sets the vibe. That said, the hot tub space is on the smaller side. The tub itself is compact, and with the accessible chair positioned in that area (which I absolutely appreciate -- kudos for prioritizing accessibility), it can feel a bit more crowded than expected. If you're looking for the sauna or steam room, just walk around the corner -- you'll find both the dry sauna and steam room tucked right there. Now let's get to the star of the show Andrea! My masseuse! FIVE STARS. NO NOTES. Andrea came to get me shortly after, and off we went to a spacious treatment room (they have large rooms with double beds for couples, too). She started by asking thoughtful questions about my areas of concern and no-fly zones. I'm usually a "don't talk to me, just fix me" kind of girl during massages, and she only checked in once or twice to confirm pressure. I appreciated her attention to detail. The massage table was perfectly warmed (not too hot, just cozy), the headrest was positioned just right, and the table even adjusted electronically to elevate my legs. Chef's kiss. Andrea worked out the knots in my shoulders with exactly the right balance of firm and gentle pressure. Fifty minutes of pure bliss. As I lifted my phone, one of the male therapists walked out of a nearby room and into the frame. I immediately lowered my phone, but he quickly snapped, "This is a no media area. You shouldn't be filming here." I wasn't filming -- just taking a photo of the artwork -- and I completely respect privacy policies in spa spaces. She proceeded to tell me that she did not receive any of the emails or calls or voicemail. So no emails or voicemails are going through in their system?
