The lady who helped me was very nice but what i don't understand is why they don't have an area or an express shipping drop off for account holders instead of having to wait in line while a Landscape Architect pastes up a site plan on the counter. Being an Architect I know how it is last minute but I have the decency to stand aside. Three people including myself were held up for 15 minutes with ready assembled tubes (cant put them in the drop off bin) and after a 4th joined the party the employee finally accepted our packages. Like I said, the employees are nice but they need to make a strict policy on people who don't have their sh*t together versus the people who work on their projects at home and just have to drop off a package so we are not wasting good billable time, it cuts into my beer drinking! read more

So, if you have a baseline level of patience, you can hear me out when I say that the service here has been quite good--at least for the 2 convention-destined posters that I've had printed here. This place is the worst. Every single person that works there is an unhelpful, lazy and often rude individual. Their self-service machines almost always have something wrong with them. They freeze when you insert your USB drive. They're out of paper. There's some other mysterious error. And if you try and get someone to fix it, they just suggest you use the computers around the side - that you have to pay by the minute for! Yeah, sure, I'll pay twice what the self-service machine costs because your equipment is shit and you're lazy. Today I needed to print a sewing pattern. The self-service machine told me it was protected, which I didn't expect - I've bought and printed plenty of sewing patterns before and that has never happened. So I go up the front to see if they can get it to print. Instead I get the third degree from some dude with an attitude at the desk about the document in question, and he suggests -surprise- to use the expensive machines. I declined. There has to be somewhere else in Berkeley with a self-service printing machine, and when I find it, I will never ever set foot in Fed Ex again. I stopped by after work to mail a couple packages, and experienced the worst customer service. Trying to be proactive, I started filling out the shipping labels at the counter. An employee came over and told me it wasn't necessary, and as long as I have the addresses, they will print out labels for me. Great! I waited patiently in line, and was happy to finally get to the front. The employee that helped me definitely wins the most distracted employee of the year award. He seemed to do pretty much everything but focus on typing the address into the computer.. chatting with his coworkers.. watching people walk by.. I've got a job interview tomorrow so I wanted to print out my resume on some nice thicker paper. I threw the document on a USB drive at home and made my way down to Kinkos. The guy at the counter was friendly and I handed over my USB drive. He showed me the type of paper I could print on and then went back to his computer to take care of it. I needed 5 copies and he printed one and brought it over for me to check out. It looked good so I had him print 5 more. Overall I had a good experience. I'd probably go back for any other printing services. UPDATE 5-28-08 Went here again to print out a job application...about 20 pages in all. And DAAAAAMN. They charge 50 cents per page, on plain paper, plus .25 cents per min! $11 dollars, or so, to print out everything. There's got to be a cheaper place! read more

Great service from Martin yesterday. I came in to print 25 copies of a 15 page handout for a meeting, and needed it fast. The first person I talked to at the counter told me they were too busy, and I had to use the self serve. OK, fine. I put my thumb drive in, start the copying, but it won't collate, so I end up with 25 copies of page 1, 2, etc. Martin walks by, sees my frustration, and asks what's up. I tell him, and he says he'll get it done behind the counter. 25 minutes later, my documents are printed, I've been credited for the copies I didn't need, and I'm on my way. 3 hours later, I get a phone call from Martin, letting me know that I'd left my thumb drive. He took responsibility for it ("I should have given it back to you--my bad"), and told me he'd FedEx it to me (since I was already on my way to the airport). Awesome service!! read more

I went in to get a large poster created, not really knowing what to do. Marvin stepped up and helped me out big time. I came in with the wrong file and he suggested that I get a vector image instead. He pointed out the resolution the file I brought in was too low. I came in later that day with the vector image and they turned around the poster in less than 24 hours. I had a really good experience here. An earlier reviewer had not liked the assistant manager Zack due to his manner. With my rush job, I actually found Zach's thoughtful and knowledgeable approach very effective. He knew their system and software *very* well, worked to perform some on-the-fly editing to improve my poster, and conscientiously double-checked at every step. He knew to allow for extra drying time before laminating and I clearly benefited from his experience. The work came out in a flash and was exactly right! However, after I returned home and found that the woman who had helped to print my documents DELETED the files I had brought in to have printed, I decided to give them two stars. What sort of business jeopardizes your private data when you go in to have it printed? What sort of training is missing when a customer service representative completely destroys your files in the printing process? Well, you can do all of the above at this convenient location! Staff is super friendly, helpful, even during the early morning hours. My husband and I came here yesterday realizing we needed to make a few copies of some documents and we were pleasantly surprised by how convenient their location was and that there was parking right up front. They have a good amount of printers/copiers and you can either ask for assistance or just use the machines yourself if you are familiar with how to operate them. This place is really bad. I have had two bad experiences with this FedEx Kinko's. I first had a package sent to this location. They said they did not have it for about one week. Turns out that they did not read the label and see my name on it. Second, I went there to have a picture printed. Their computers are about 5 years old meaning it will take 5 minutes to load a USB drive, and another 5 minutes to load the image file. The man who was helping me decided that he should complete other work while waiting for my file to load. They then proceeded to tell me that my file was not formatted correctly despite me having both PDF and JPG versions. After telling them again that the files would work, I was exchanged to another worker. He could not figure out how to print the photo. First, he thought he should resize the photo to the paper by pulling the sides of the photo making the persons face wide. Then he told me that the photo could not be printed on 11 x 17 paper because the photo was not exactly 11 x 17. All of this does not make sense and should not have been an issue at a copy/print center. I immediately asked for my USB stick (pretending that they were correct) and left to go to Replica copy up the street. Got it printed, no problem... read more

It makes me sick thinking about all the money I wasted here when I could have done a lot of things for free elsewhere. Their paper cutter sucks. It ruined all of precious paper I was working with. This FedEx Office used to be located a few blocks down. I've noticed some improvements since they relocated: the space is nicer, it's easier to get the clerks' attention, and it has been easier to get jobs printed right away, rather than having to wait the standard 24 hours. (I'm sure this wouldn't apply if they were really busy with another project, but I've been lucky the last few times.) I've printed a few things here recently, and have found the clerks to be helpful. However, I was disappointed to find that they've downgraded the default color-copier paper, so you have to pay a lot extra to get what used to be considered standard. ($2.58/page as opposed to $1.78/page) Definitely get a sample piece before you print a multi-page job. I had to pay $35 for something that's completely unusable, because of the poor-quality paper. I did print a job on cardstock earlier this year, though, and that one came out good. read more

This is a horrible place that is very disorganized. The manager I dealt with was very rude, condescending and confrontational. My order is now two days late, and I have been "promised" that my order will be ready tomorrow. Do NOT use this place, if you have an important print/copy job! Also, they are very expensive and the pricing is deceptive! They raised the price of my order after the original contract was approved! Basically, they refused to finish the order, unless I paid more money. I went in, got an initial price quote, then talked to the manager from their Emeryville location about lowering the price to match a competitor. She agreed to cut the price in half. I went in and okay'd the proof and assumed that my order would be done on time. When I called to tell them I was picking up my order, I was told that my custom job was not approved, and that it would cost me more money to finish the job. The manager proceeded to become very hostile and kept telling me that it was my fault that I did not clearly communicate the print job needs--even though the custom specs were in the original order, I spoke to at least 3 people and showed them what I wanted, and the proof/price was signed off on. read more

Don't bother calling to ask these people about Fedex services even though they work for Fedex. They are either ignorant of their own services, too lazy to explain them, or both. All they can do is refer you to their 800 number, which offers information that contradicts the information posted on their website. I shipped three boxes across the country. One was a box of clothes, one was a computer, one was a monitor. I was very anxious when they said they would "pack my stuff later" and I couldn't watch what they were doing to my computer. The box of clothes was marked fragile. It got here safely. The computer was in a plain box, no fragile sticker, cracked case. At least it was functional. Just kidding, the hardware is broken too. The monitor box was not marked fragile either. In either box, there was about two packs of the instapack foam, some sparse bubble wrap messily strewn in, and a lot of packing peanuts. Pro-tip: packing peanuts do not suffice for the safe packaging of electronics. They claimed it was standard procedure, but I had another FedEx office ship the same computer and it turned out just fine. read more

I was in this location and got the chance to meet the new manager, Elan. He is young, down to earth and very calming, just what that location needs. I needed to get some printing done before I headed off to the airport. He assisted me and wished me well on my trip to Missouri. Very Pleasant to work with. If you every visit this location, stay clear of the old lady, terrible service from her. The Asian guy and the tall black girl are very knowledgeable as well. I typically only use the online print jobs feature of this fed ex. I upload docs and go to pic them up which is super convenient! Usually I receive both a phone call or email telling me they are done but yesterday nothing. I ended up emailing and they said the order had been ready for hours. I am a mother of two young children and just left my baby with someone so I could drive to this location and ship a box returning a quilt to Land of Nod. I had the same box that the quilt came in with a pre-paid shipping label, and the "Supervisor" Katie would not send it. She was extremely unprofessional and rude, her tone was disrespectful and sharp. She should not be employed there or anywhere in the service industry with that kind of attitude. I begged her to please help me since I had just gone to PO Pack where they could not do FedEx Ground. I did not have my wallet to purchase a new box or tape as I was just going to drop off the box. She kept repeating herself over and over that the box was bulging, which it was NOT! It just needed a piece of tape! She kept telling me to take it apart and adjust the contents, which is ridiculous given the quilt was neatly folded inside just as I received it, a perfect fit for the box. What's more, my husband shipped that very same box of contents last week at that same location and there were no problems. Unfortunately he put the pre-paid label inside the box and it came back to our house, which is why I have to re-send it. So this woman was clearly just incompetent. I am appalled by her service. The box was in the exact same condition that I received it in, it just needed one piece of tape. Shouldn't a shipping center have tape? If not, at least kind service and people willing to work with you and show some decent respect. This place must make some changes in its customer service.
