I love the Aveda brand to tame my hair. And while it has worked wonders for the last 20+years, at times, I need something else in addition to Aveda. And stopping here came in real handy. Feel Beauty Supply- and others like it, are totally non-existent in White Plains. If there's one, chances are, selection is flat out poor. I also rely on my beloved Harmon and m...a...y...b...e Sally's- but these places, just don't carry enough hair products for women with coarse or extra curly hair. But I was in hair heaven when I saw all their brands and found hair creams and lotions to take care of my hair needs. And yeah...... I do have Dominican naps that need to be tamed and edges to take care of. Feel Beauty has everything laid out neatly to a science: small makeup section as soon as you walk in. More makeup on right wall, mainstream products in middle aisles. Following aisle has a good chunk of Dominican Shampoo, Conditioners and Deep Hair Treatments- that are diffucult to find up by me. Left wall has hair accessories and wigs in the back. I could've gone to Washington Heights and get all my Dominican hair essentials- but I was in the area and this was an excellent find! I walked up and down 125th Street looking for 4 lb. tub of Mizani relaxer. I know the trend is natural, but this is sheer laziness on my part. Yes, laziness. Natural hair takes time and the kind of skill I just don't have, or salon money I don't have either. So Creamy Crack it is. At $27.99 for a tub that will last me until next year, it's the best value around. Those $40 dusty tubs the other stores had... ha! It was the same story with the neutralizing shampoo. $20 to Feel's $16. Get out of here! Sure I'd love someone else to do my hair, but at $60+ before tipping the stylist and the shampooer... nah, I'll just Vaseline my hairline and go to town on myself. By the by, all the Mizani isn't together. It's usually in a section by the cashier because that brand is rife with high shrinkage items. This tub was with the other tubs in the aisle. I sent to that store today as I needed to get a friend wigs since she has lost all her hair due to stress . The young lady that assisted me was very nice. But the owner of place is simply rude , uneducated and all has no business manners . I asked him a question regarding the wigs and he answered to me so rudely mumbling something and left . I kept my composure and went on the find someone else to help me out since the First Lady that assisted me broke for lunch . I had no other choice but ask that man again , he serviced me and went back behind the counter . I bought 3 wigs there and other items wig related. I bought for a total of almost $200.00 and this man was still so rude, yelling at his employee in front of customers . I was disgusted and told him straight up . As I was leaving I turned around to tell him some more but he had left for lunch . I told his employee at the counter that it was unfortunate to be treating people so poorly . It makes everything and everybody look bad . If black women stop buying at his store he will go down . No one should take that type of behavior from a business owner . I'm sad to hear other patrons write that they have been treated in a racist manner. So I will preface this by saying that I'm a white woman so that may be why my experience was not as bad. I hope that management reads the reviews and improves their attitudes if they need to. Racism is not a good business practice, guys. That said, I have always liked the selection and convenience of this store even though their prices are sometimes a tad bit higher than big box retailers and Amazon Prime. My favorite products: -Pure coconut oil in a squeeze bottle -MoroccanOil hair products -Various shea butter soaps - Tree Hut Body scrubs - Giovanni shampoo and conditioner The store is big, clean, and very organized. Pay close attention at the cash register. With all the noise and chaos, they can overcharge you and smile in your face as they hand you back your card. Examine your receipt after given it. I just discovered on my credit card statement from last month that I shouldve done this. What should've been 14.95 instead charged me 144.95. I'm low maintenance and don't spend this much in this kind of store. Period. The most I buy is 1-2 bottles of gack for my hair. I don't have my original receipt to dispute the charge now. I grudgingly visit this store b/c I do not like the employees' attitude toward customers. Also, I HATE shipping at stores that practice policies that criminalize their customers, ie mandatory bag check, not allowing bills over a certain amount, security watching you like a bloodhound,etc. Anyway, on this particular visit I was there when a group of white women came in. ALL of them had large purses and shopping bags but none were asked to check their bag. Hmm. Side note: I also notice how this store ONLY employs non-black people. But, I digress. When I checked out, the female Korean owner was incredibly rude. She never greeted me, was very unfriendly and barked the price of my order at me like i was an incompetent fool (to further explain, I was placing my cash on the counter one-by-one as I pulled it out of my pocket. While visibly counting out the change in my hand, she, with much attitude, stated that I was short). I said "i know. I'm still counting out the change." So she rolls her eyes and shakes her head in an irritated fashion. I don't tolerate bad customer service on any level, so naturally, I told her 'never mind' on the purchase. She sighed loudly, slammed my money on the counter and walked off. Ugh! Disgusting. I refuse to give these adversarial retailers my patronage any longer. It is imperative that we financially boycott any store that disrespects its customers/the community it feeds off. Until recently this used to be a good place if I need to pickup beauty supplies in a crunch . Prices range from high to ridiculous compared to my local beauty store, but hey I'm in a crunch.What earned them 1 star is that policy of no cash refunds. I just made a purchase for $50 and as I stepped out the store, received a phone call that changed all my plans. I turned and went back into the store and tried to explain that I needed to make some changes, and was accosted by workers and management about not reading their policy before purchase. This is where I go to get my hair supplies. The store is huge. They also have a hair salon within the store. The workers are helpful but there's this one chick who seems to have a bit of an attitude like someone took her man or something . But they have a lot of different brands and good quality hair.
