When I began my journey two months ago I was 135 lbs, and had a body fat percentage of 23%. My idea of a crunch was to grab the remote control without knocking my bowl of chips off my stomach. I had accepted that physical fitness just wasn't in the cards for me. My self confidence had begun to decline, which is a bad thing when your career is based upon making others feel confident and beautiful. I was scrolling Facebook and seen an ad for the gyms six week challenge and was intrigued. It was close to my salon, and I'd be able to go before work. Best of all it claimed to be a FREE six week challenge. Now like all things in life nothing is truly free without a catch. The fee for the challenge could be returned to you as long as you followed the guidelines and met your goal. I had a choice to make and let me add nothing is a better motivator than putting some serious cash on the line. I decided both for my self esteem, and my health that this was a decision I had to make. I needed guidance, structure, and positive reinforcement. I had joined other gyms in the past with the best of intentions; I'd go for a few weeks and get burnt out both with having no clue what types of workouts I'd be doing, and having zero accountability, and training. A lot of gyms like to play the family card and claim to have a membership that is full of encouragement and friendship. Unleashed however doesn't only claim it, they are. I've met so many wonderful and inspiring people outside of the trainers and that keeps me pushing to reach my next goal. There is people of all body types, and ages. Everyone always greets you, and helps encourage you when you're feeling that burn and contemplating giving up. I would have never been so successful if it weren't for people who have no idea how much they impacted me. I'm a researcher and after signing up I looked into just how reasonable 6% body fat loss on six weeks was. Needless to say the internet had me petrified I had just lost a lot of money. The average was 1% in 4 weeks. I needed a percent a week. I'm so very happy to say that it is more than possible. I followed the meal plan, never missed a workout, gave it 110% each time. Not only did I meet my initial goal, I surpassed it by double. As I type this review I'm currently down to 118 lbs, and a body fat % of 11.5. The meal plan was the hardest for me to change, yet has become a new way of life for me and my energy, and sleep have dramatically increased. Where I use to dread going to the gym I look forward to my early mornings and getting together with an extended family and pushing myself even further. If you're looking to change your life, and truly willing to follow the advice from some amazing people I highly recommend Unleashed. I'm happy to say that Patricia and her team have been incredibly helpful once again. In the past, Patricia helped me grow and develop so much insight. It's hard to find a counselor who genuinely cares and is as skilled as she is. I've tried many counselors in the area, but none compare to her techniques and experience. I started counseling about a year ago feeling lonely and empty, but Patricia took me out of that dark place. While I saw a few others as well, they were not as skilled as Patricia. I cannot thank Patricia enough for helping me find myself again after my relationship trauma. She has taught me valuable skills to be strong again, and I feel empowered because of her guidance. For insight on this, as well as to how she responds to criticism, take a look at how she responds to negative reviews on Yelp. She routinely hides behind her "Board of Directors" when it comes to any complaint. She commonly responds to concerns with statements like, "all decisions are made by the board" and "I have to ask the board" - however, public records show that she's the only director. It was a struggle to obtain any kind of billing records from her and her team as they were extremely unhelpful and uncommunicative. She was, however, happy to take almost $7000 from us. My family had to obtain therapy from a different, more reputable therapist because of the trauma went through with Patricia Chan. We considered reporting her but decided we wanted to wash our hands clean of the trauma and move forward with healing instead. If you're considering her services, please do your research and find a therapist with the right credentials for your individual situation. Understanding the differences between LCSW, LMFT and PsyD will be very helpful. UPDATE: I had photos of my receipts and her business name filing showing her being the only director. Patricia Chan got my photos deleted and responded to this review (in the third person - in all other responses, she responds directly). She's also using the "this person was never a client" excuse and (passive aggressively) claiming defamation. Again, she provided therapy for members of my family - not me directly - that I paid for. There are many situations where this might happen, including but not limited to: a parent obtaining therapy for a child; a child obtaining therapy for an elderly parent; etc. But I'm not surprised she used that excuse, as that was the same excuse that was made when attempting to resolve this issue at the time of conflict. There's also a difference between defamation and sharing a negative experience regarding interactions with a business - this is my honest review of my family's experience with Patricia Chan/LiveWell Therapy. I'm happy to provide copies of my receipts and emails (me communicating directly with Chan) for anyone else having issues with this business - feel free to message me.
