During that time, our family has experienced our share of hospitals and rehabilitation facilities. In our experience, Ocean View Post Acute stands apart. Never before have we seen such a strong partnership between Physical Therapy and Nursing. They make something incredibly difficult look easy. And we know firsthand that it is anything but. Our mom is a vulnerable 88-year-old navigating a difficult journey. The staff are responsive, attentive, and compassionate. They visibly slow down for her when she needs it, speak to her with dignity and respect, and encourage her while continuing to push her toward her goals. They do this even on the busiest days, when it is clear they are working hard to meet the needs of everyone in their care. No group of people is perfect, and neither is Ocean View. But what we see every day is the striving. The teamwork. The professionalism. The humanity. We don't know whether Mom will ultimately recover from her trauma. But what we do know is that Ocean View is giving her the best opportunity to do so. And in the end, that's all any family can ask of the people entrusted with the care of someone they love.

The OT and PT staff worked hard as well and we were able to bring mom home! No offense but I hope we don't have to return. When she reported it, they used trickery, deceit, lying tactics, manipulation to get her to change her mind. But my mom had written notes, remained steadfast on what happened -she was assaulted by med tech Veronica, and they tried to cover it up. We then reported it to the state of CA (omsbudman) and Ivy Park Escondido staff retaliated against my mom and me. Ooooh, they're good. Alicia, the new director, yells at me on the phone, while being all sweet and smiles to my mom. Adrianna, from corporate- the regional nursing supervisor from Redlands interviewed my mom acting like my mom's friend, being sweet and nice. But she also tried to trick my mom and said she had the wrong date. My mom didn't back down. The next day Adrianna was incredibly rude to me. All of the 'upper' management, have been acting childish, immature, and wanting to pick fights with my mom and me since she reported the assault. Then they tried to give her an anti-psychotic (Seroquel) that she doesn't even take!! Stay away from this mad house. You'll be sorry like we are that we gave them so much money. But I'm taking them out of there and I'll tell anyone about staying away from this Crazy Town.

Since Loucinda has been MCD the building has improved tremendously. My experience at Vista del Lago has truly been beautiful and inspiring. I first started off as a caregiver but almost immediately was promoted to Med-tech. Being med tech and lead has made me realize my dream is to become a nurse because I love helping others. I applaud Loucinda and Marie because I know that being on the floor is already so difficulty and I can only imagine what goes on behind the scenes. Not only do they both work hard to ensure staff and residents are taken care of but they continually help on the floor when needed. I appreciate Loucinda for allowing me to grow as much as I have and continue to do so. I have learned so many lessons and skills I will carry for years to come in next opportunities. Although some days are very difficult, most days are very rewarding. Working in a setting like this it's almost as if you have 50 grandmas and 50 grandpas and that is truly incredible but challenging at the same time. You can tell all staff in the building truly care for the residents with there whole heart. Working with dementia definitely comes with its difficulties mentally and physically but our directors ensure staff are always cared for. Whether that's leaving their offices open with open ears and arms or buying staff coffee, boba or meals.

After another scary fall I knew that living alone was no longer an option. I toured several options and ultimately selected Ramona Senior Manor. When I walked in the front doors I knew this place was different. I saw a care team of loving staff attending to the residents (it was meal time). I met with the admitting staff to review my father's needs, likes and dislikes. He was still in the ER at hospital and the only way he would go was if I forced the issue. I was so upset and worried he would be angry at me and that our relationship would be forever damaged. Jim - went to the ER and talked to my dad about what it would look like for him to stay at "the Manor" to get him stronger. We selected a large room downstairs. The team made sure every request I had was fulfilled (from a small refrigerator to a desk where he could sit and do his "bills". My father thrived at the Manor. To watch him socialize and eat three square meals was so special. He gained weight and talked about how good the food was! He accepted that he was struggling on his own and took advantage of every opportunity to participate in all the activities! My father was inherently a kind gentle and lovely human. We got to see the best of him come out again when he finally accepted the help he so desperately needed. My father ended up going on hospice care after a month at the Manor. He did not want anymore hospital visits. Ramona Senior Manor works in conjunction with Hospice provider we selected (Radiant Hospice) to have a continuous care team making each day the best possible! My father made his transition on December 28, 2024. He had been a resident since November 17, 2023 and on Hospice services since December 2023. To every single human from the chef to the janitor and each and every person who showered him with kindness and care we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We love all of you. It was a difficult decision, but the Executive Director, Bree, and her team made the entire process easier. My uncle was a man of limited means, so finding an assisted living facility with memory care that worked within his budget was a lifesaver. We even saw a dramatic improvement in his overall health a few short weeks after he moved in. In fact, he raved about how good the food was (not something I expected to hear from someone in a care facility!). It was such a Godsend to know my uncle was being looked after and cared for 24/7. The facility was well maintained and staffed for the duration of my uncle's stay (he recently passed away.). I have to give a special call-out to Bree. She was amazing from the first moment we talked over the phone. In fact, after speaking with her and visiting the facility, I knew Hidden Glenn would be the right place for my uncle. Bree even helped me with the application and approval process while she was on vacation. Her dedication and empathy for our situation was amazing and so appreciated. We also worked closely with two of the nurses, Veronica and May, who were both stellar. May even took the time to purchase and read a book that was written many years ago about my uncle just so she could gain some additional insight into the man and his history. Talk about going above and beyond! I definitely recommend Hidden Glenn. I also can't thank Bree, May, Veronica and the entire staff enough for their help, responsiveness, and kind care of my uncle at the end of his life.
