We choose Felicita Vida as a hospice location for my mother's husband. It was ideal because they could reunite after he had been hospitalized for two months. Within days they wanted to throw my mother out because they didn't want to deal with her memory problems. She was not disruptive, she just couldn't remember things. It has only been one week since Mom has been here. So far so good. I am close by so I check in almost daily. There are 3 sisters, including myself, who will scrutinize everything so I expect things will be good. In terms of the facility itself, it is top notch without being boogie. Clean!! I was impressed. I have toured several facilities and the others were run down where the residents lived, but the main areas were better cared for. I also saw in other facilities, where main areas were over the top boogie and rooms were adequate. Felicita Vida is top notch and Mom's room is gorgeous. I would live here. :-) The staff are professional and well organized. KUDOS goes to Kelly, Kim, Kaitlin! TOP TOP Notch! These pros helped me transition from SNF to Felicita Vida. Everything went smooth. Only time will tell, but I have faith in these people and in Felitica Vida. Mom said "I am going to live here forever". That makes me sad and happy at the same time. Beware. Felicita is a profit driven retirement facility who will approach you with charm and a super sales pitch. Staff tries but is sloppy overall and not responsive to residents needs. Shop around and if you chose Felicita Vida be prepared for enormous rent increases because they will come. My parents were at Vista Del Lago Memory Care for a year and a half. After dad passed, we moved mom to Felicita's memory care. Both places did a great job with my parents. The caregivers were great at both Vista Del Lago and Felicita!! I think Felicita was a little nicer. The food is better and the facility is nicer. Felicita has both memory care and assisted living. It was nice to be able to take mom from memory care to the assisted living cafeteria and have a meal with family and friends. We even had mom's 90th at Felicita. I hope this helps you decide on the care for your parents. It's not an easy job and both Vista Del Lago and Felicita Vida were great help when we needed assistance. read more

Food is terrible. Staff is not helpful. My aunt had a UTI but the nurse on site was unconcerned. They took a urine sample on a Friday. It came back on Saturday denotes blood in the urine, but was not read by anyone. By Saturday night, my aunt called me in GREAT discomfort. I called in to the nurse. It took 10 minutes to get her to order transportation to the ER. Turns out that my aunt has bladder cancer. The lack of concern to get care for a resident in pain is astonishing. My aunt will not be returning. read more

Absolutely saddening and infuriating this place is. Flew out from Portland to visit my grandfather who was there for a year. Looked absolutely terrible. Things being taken or stolen from the people living there constantly like WALLETS!! Multiple times his wallet went "missing" and his identity was stolen. Ya think my zombie of a grandfather (who has no phone or computer) is trying to open accounts, get credit cards and spending THOUSANDS of dollars while sitting dazed in a facility? I think not. There is some shady shit going on it the place. Thank god we got him out and in much better care. As much as I'd like to talk highly of the facility, I just dont have anything nice to say with the exception of one or two workers. Heartbreaking. Think twice and do your research, folks. read more

Ever since Felicita Vida Senior Living in Escondido changed from a family owned facility to a corporate run facility I have noticed and documented that the service and care for the patients has decreased to a almost substandard form of care. We went to visit my father in law on the afternoon of Christmas 2019. To our surprise and extreme disappointment he had not been given a shower he was still in his PJ's and his bathroom smelled. It seemed to us that making money has replaced taking care of people with needs. I am sadden to see how fast this place has declined. I suggest that if you have family members here that you start looking for other places. And if you are thinking about bringing a loved one here think again. read more

One of the hardest things I have ever had to do was made the decision it was time to move my dad out of the home with my mom & move him into a memory care/assisted living facility. Dad had started getting up in the middle of the night & going out front & raking leaves in the middle of the street. My mom would wake up terrified until she could find where he had gone. Both being 86 it was a lot of stress on both of them. Felicita Vida had opened in Augest 2015. It is literally 2 minutes from my parents home. Dad & I started checking it out by going to lunch there a few times & walking around meeting some of the residents. My dad had not got out much in years so he loved the social stimulation he was getting by talking to new people. We even stopped in to join the activities a few times. For someone who napped in front of the tv all the time & couldn't get out like he use to, bingo is fun again. So the nuts & bolts. The place is brand new. It's lovely inside and out, the people who run it & work there are so very caring. I have just hung out watching what goes on for hours before moving my dad there. They are engaging, funny, witty, quick on their feet & very good with residents who have alzheimer or dementia. They also treat them like family or friends. Very good at redirecting them if needed, keeping the residents active & involved with their new group of friends. Because that's what you want to happen. Even though my dad still ask about going home he is very content. He sleeps much better now that he is physically and mentally active. The food is very good. My favorite is the BLT. My mom is doing so much better now too. Instead of cooking & cleaning & trying to keep my dad safe & dealing with many frustrations she is sleeping better also. She stops by many times to spend time with dad during the week & now it's quality time instead of just care taking him. Sitting watching a movie now they hold hands like when they first dated. The studios are nice size rooms. To point is to not be in them all the time but to be active. They have a game room, a great movie theater, work out room, a hair/barber salon, a gathering room for happy hour & many places to sit & relax. There are special doors & alarms so there is no worry about wandering off for the memory care residents. The major portion, 3/4 of the place, is for active residents that are still somewhat independent, but the cooking, cleaning & laundry is all done for you. They have studios, one & two bedroom appartment with kitchenettes. There are a few residents wth little dogs that love to let the other residents fawn over their little babies. The dogs are all sweet & love everyone. A few cats too but they stay in the apartments mostly. From Kristen, the head honcho to George that keeps everything up & running, to the med techs that keep their residents medicines on schedule everyday, there's Britney and Kristy who were there for us the whole way, to all the rest that keep that place going, thank you so much. From our first visit to check in day they have been helpful, & guiding us through the process. The residents families are an amazing part too. In passing we chat & get to know each other. There is a lot of support in the smiles of other family members & occasional hugs of understanding. Felicita Vida is directly behind the two fire departments on Felicita. You couldn't feel any safer. I posted pictures of the place as I walk around. New residents are moving in weekly. I am so glad that the fire captain mentioned Felicita Vida in passing. It turned out to be a whisper from the universe on the next step. read more

While my granpa was staying here the caregivers took awful care of him. The place smelled completely like urine and when I went to go visit the place my grandpa smelled like he was covered in urine. You could tell that he definitely wasn't bathed when he should've been. On top of that the sheets on his bed had gross stains on them and were never changed which I found extremely concerning. With all these concerns I had, I figured someone would be paying attention and trying to fix iT but all the staff was siting at a counter al on their phones not paying attention to anyone. I would never recommend this place to anything me to take their loved one too. Go somewhere else your loved one will not be taken care of here. read more

My dad has been here for almost 2 years now. I couldn't ask for a better place!! The staff is AMAZING!! Every single one of them go above and beyond!! They really CARE about their residents. The food has improved and is delicious!! They hosted s Valentines luncheon with prime rib and champagne!! They do something special every month. They have THE best activities director out there!! Hector goes above and beyond to create activities that get everyone involved and engaged. They have THE best memory care activities director as well. Shelly is amazing!! There is only one word I can use to express how I feel about Felicita Vida, " NO". This was the absolute worst, heart breaking, confusing, infuriating , fear filled experience I have ever encountered. There is so much I would like to share about Felicita Vida, to spare people from going through what I did while trying to make sure that our Mom was properly cared for, loved and given the opportunity to finish well with honor and dignity. We moved her after a year of nightmares. We went to Eagles Nest in Escondido, it was a God send as were the care givers. I recently moved my parents to Felicita Vida. Let me preface by saying my parents didn't want to move to any assisted living, but their medical conditions have made now the right time. Fast forward two weeks and I got a text yesterday from my dad telling me to sell his car and his old residence because he's never leaving Felicita! My mother moved into Memory Care at Felicita Vida a little over a month ago. Our experience has been wonderful! The staff helped us every step of the way as we prepared to move her. The transition to living at Felicita Vida was very smooth for my mom due to the caring and attentive staff. Everyone from the caregivers to the activities director to the management team made my mom feel comfortable and welcome. She loves Felicita Vida, enjoys participating in the many activities, raves about how nice the staff is and loves the food. To begin with, anyone who gives this facility a 5 star rating is being paid. My father has been a resident in Memory Care for about 6 months. In the beginning we were semi happy with the care he was receiving however it has become progressively worse. As I see it, these places have 3 priorities: to keep the patients safe, clean, and fed. When I picked my father up on Christmas Eve he was disheveled, hadn't been shaved, and he smelled (strongly) of urine. His sheets were dirty and smelled of urine as well. I complained and a caregiver responded and offered to shave him.. I changed his sheets. I picked him up today and my first observation was that the caregivers were standing around on their phones and not doing their jobs. Then I encountered the same situation as Christmas Eve. I complained again and a caregiver responded by bathing my dad and changing the bed sheets. The hallways smell of urine and they are constantly "losing" his clothing. I would not recommend that anyone bring their loved one here. Memory loss should not mean loss of dignity. read more

My mother-in-law had lived at The Remington in RB for 15 years but needed assisted living. The fees were going to be quite high and the rooms quite small so my wife and I started looking around. We were fortunate to find a 1 year old development called Felicita Vida (FV) nearby in Escondido. FV looks like an upscale hotel, has wonderful amenities and the room she got was nearly as big as the Remington's residential room. She has lived there for 5 months and we are all delighted with FV. It is classy all the way and the staff are caring and responsive. We would give FV six stars if we could. Highly recommended. read more

When my father passed, my step mom was hesitant to move into a "facility" because she said they all felt like an institution. We toured many places that either felt too big or too fancy or too impersonal, Then we toured Felicita Vida, and she left with tears in her eyes, as she said it felt just perfect - the right mix of size and homey feeling. The new facility feels modern and clean, and the private and public spaces are bright, airy, and just feel positive (in the same way that other places felt depressing). As she was older (90) and quite frail, she needed the extra level of care, which worked out just right for her (although I did hire an outside private home healthcare person to tend to her medical needs that couldn't be handled in-house). And the staff - so many special, caring, LOVING people. I don't live in California, so I had to look to the staff to be there for her when I couldn't be there, and they treated her with such warmth and kindness. They encouraged her to join social events and so many of them made a lasting impression on her - and my - heart. read more

Just today we received yet another rate increase letter - 10% this time on top of the rate increase less than a year ago. They are blaming wage increases by the State of CA, but for that to make sense wages would have had to increase 25-35% as not all there cost are people.. Anyway, this is so unfair, as these people (mom included) are on fixed incomes and just when they mentally get their arms around calling a strange place HOME this.... read more

Just received 2 ambulance bills from City of Escondido for my father that was a resident at Felicita Vida. They totalled over $4,000. Felicita failed to provide them with my father's insurance information and therefore he was billed personally at the facility where he no longer resides. Again, he was there in June, 2019, for only 5-6 days and spent 2 of the evenings in the emergency room because of Felicita's inability to take care of his dementia related problems. So the City just sent the bills for JUNE to my father personally at Felicita Vida. They in turn crossed out the address and forwarded them on to the family. They still have all his medical information, so why didn't they provide this to the City either now or when the incidents happened? Another example of poor organization and run facility. Please be aware of the inability of their care regarding dementia related patients. They are not trained nor staffed properly. My father is currently residing at Silverado Memory care in Escondido and is doing wonderful. ALL of their staff are completely trained in memory care and dementia related patients and treat everyone with such compassion. He is happy, well fed, clean, and engaged. read more

We placed my mom in Felicita Vida about 2 months ago. It is a beautiful facility with incredibly kind and observant staff. My mom did not want to go into an assisted living facility, but it was necessary for her safety and to keep her busy and happy. My mom says that it is a really nice place and is happy in her beautiful apartment. They offer a wide variety of activities for her to participate in daily and, as stated before, the staff is incredible. read more

When it came time for my mother to be moved into a memory care facility, I started visiting assisted living and memory care facilities in Escondido and Rancho Bernardo which are near to us and where she was living. Many of the memory care facilities were costly and honestly did not seem to offer much for the cost plus so many of the residents in the memory care units where very low functioning and my mother was high functioning. It was rather depressing. Then I visited Felicita Vida ("FV") which is a new facility (a little over a year old) and I knew this was the place for mom. It is such an impressive facility with beautiful grounds, the helpful friendly staff, a wine bar, a movie theater, and so many wonderful activities. My mother has only been living at FV for one month but has been to Julian to have pie, to Murrieta to eat dinner and look at Christmas lights, to a play at the Escondido Center for teh Arts, she has had her hair cut and colored in the salon on site, they have entertainment come in (and often join with assisted living for activities) and daily activities on and off site. The rooms are large and clean (with house keeping and laundry once a week) and the food is healthy and delicious as we have joined my mother for meals on many occasions. We would highly recommend FV to anyone looking for a wonderful assisted living or memory care facility. read more
