During my regular visits, I never saw or heard a caregiver speak sharply to any resident. Despite his limitations, they always tried to include him in activities and keep him engaged. This is a great facility. I have seen and been to quite a few different assisted living facilities trying to find the right one for my mother. The facility is a little older however it is clean and tidy. The staff has been very helpful and has made my mom feel welcomed and safe. I did however have a few things that needed to be ironed out, as I addressed the staff they were able to make the appropriate adjustments, had good communication and resolved my concerns within a timely manner. I also liked that we were able to work together to find the best and most effective way to proceed regarding my concerns for my mother. I am very happy to have my mom in their care and know that she is well taken care of. I would recommend this facility to a friend or family if they were looking or needed assisted living. read more

My brother moved to assisted living at Escondido Senior Living in August 2023. It was called Pacifica Senior Living at the time. It was a rough start but a couple months later staff recommended memory care may be a better fit for him. It was clear that his care needs were more than general assisted living was meant to provide. My brother has done very well in the smaller environment of memory care where there the staff resident ratio is better and there is more group social time. He likes to be where the action is, not so much alone in his room. Staff does a good job taking care of him. It's really amazing what they do for him. He can be a grumpy guy sometimes and the staff does a good job with humor and redirecting his complaints. Staff, especially Angie the director of memory care, are responsive to family requests to make changes and follow up is very good. Our brother has settled into a routine and although he has good days and bad days he seems generally happy. It's such a relief to family to know that our brother is in good hands. My father in 3 different occasions pressed the button from his pedant and no one went to help him! I was looking for a quality facility for mom. One that was clean, run professionally and didn't cost our life's savings but fulfilled all moms needs. I toured Pacifica 3 times with various family members. A special shout out to Rachel who facilitated the tours with patience and charm. Rachel went with the flow in accommodating my asking and texting a multitude of questions. Mom moved in 9/23 And time will tell. However, I am feeling incredibly comfortable and relieved having placed her in this active assisted living facility. Anyone looking to put a loved one in this Assisted Living Home...THINK TWICE. Looks nice and clean, rooms are nice and well kept up. Which in all reality should be for the amount they charge, well over $2,000 per month. In regards to human behavior for the elderly...not so good. In November 2018 I brought to Carline Callaghan and Amy Banaga's attention (Only because Manager Jackie Ayala was on her honeymoon), a concern I witnessed. A Tenant, Loretta literally was hostile to other Tenants in the Dining Room. Loretta vagularly cussed out another Tenant for sitting in the seat she was in, in the dining room. Loretta called this poor Tenant a "Bitch" and told her she was th scum of the earth. The following day Loretta told my Aunt to get out of her seat, my Aunt was sitting at a table in dining room. There is no designated seating, first come first serve seating (depending on whom you ask). Loretta has continued to harrass other Tenants, through the remainder of. November, December and now January 2019.THIS is why I brought it to Managements Attention in November 2018. A week after bringing it to Management's attention, I asked if the problem has been resolved to Amy Banaga. Ms. Banaga said it had only been a week, give them time. The temporary bandage as to have a Monitor in the dining room to monitor Loretta, lasted a week. I wish I knew problem solving was a challenge for Management at this location. NEVER received a update NOR was matter resolved. I did what I was suppose to do and informed Management, hello! Fix it, what ties or connections does this Tenant Loretta have that she is ENABLE to conduct herself in this manner???? Loretta has continued to harass Tenants, useing vulgar language towards others in dining room. January 2019, Loretta took my Aunt's salad and put it on another dining room table and sad, " This is where your sitting!". I can supply documentation for ADDITIONAL events for two other Tenants and what they have endured with Loretta. No monitor in room to witness OR correct this ongoing problem. What the heck??? Oh...not to mention, another Tenant asked for a peanut butter sandwitch to take back to her room Sun 1/6/2019. Later when this Tenant went to eat sandwitch, bread was full of mold. I have been told this is NOT the first time Tenants are given moldy bread. Would YOU ever give moldy bread to your loved one knowing this could make a Senior extremely sick? I will now notify Health Department for kitchen Audits. Is this where you want to put your loved one not knowing no one is monitoring OR turning a blind eye to deterotogry behavior of another Tenant who could be YOUR loved one? These Tenants pay a high price to be treated in such a ugly fashion and it is SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE ~ read more

It's been a couple of years since my initial review of Pacifica Senior Living in Escondido and since my mom's health has taken a large decline, I thought I should update based on current experiences. I can't say enough good things about what these amazing people do each day for my mom! There are some fantastic and loving caretakers like Lupita, Itzel, Jackie, and Myra under the direction of Angie. As a regular visitor (at least weekly, if not more) I can attest to the care and love they give to the residents. Our experiences primarily focus on Legacy, their Memory Care area. It's sad personally to see this decline in my mom's health but what's important is she is cared for by patient and loving caretakers. At the end of the day, that's what matters. Communication is difficult for mom but the staff still make attempts to interact and get her smiling. I am grateful for the work they do each day to help mom in a safe and engaging environment. Although she can't participate as much these days in activities, I still see her "friends" enjoying their time there. After moving my mother from Arizona last year when her health took a drastic turn for the worse, and trying out THREE different assisted living facilities in North San Diego County, I finally found the one my mother can call HOME...Pacifica Escondido! From the moment she moved in, the staff has shown unwavering dedication to her wellbeing. The caregivers are not only highly trained but also incredibly compassionate, treating her with such kindness and with the respect they would treat their own mother. The community itself is incredibly well-maintained (thank you, Luis!) and provides a comfortable and safe environment. And while my mother isn't as social as she used to be, they offer a variety of activities - including morning exercise class and walks - and delicious meals that have truly improved her quality of life (she was barely eating when she moved in 5 months ago). It's so heartwarming to see the level of care and attention she receives everyday, and I can't thank the following staff members enough: Shawna, Carline, Jessica, Suzie, Cherry Rose & Esmarelda...among others. We were searching for a memory care facility for a loved one. We found some closer but were willing to drive a little further for the qualities of Pacifica. Place is cheerful, staff is kind and engaged. The residents in the assisted living (independent) section appeared happy and many expressed their satisfaction to us. We felt that the pricing was fair. Every time I go to visit her, I'm greeted by a nice staff, the property is clean (VERY important), and we know she's in good hands when we aren't there. The one thing that comes to mind is my parents will drop in randomly and they've always said she looks clean, dressed well (IN MATCHING CLOTHES THANK YOU, the staff knows how to dress her) and well taken care of! My Mom has been living in the Legacies (memory care) wing of Pacifica Senior Living since April of 2023. She is well-cared for by a patient and hard-working staff. They feed her 3 hot meals a day, she is bathed regularly, and her medications administered as needed. There are also special meals served on holidays and families may also eat for a price that is donated to the staff. Families can also eat a meal with their loved one on a regular day for a very reasonable price. I have always enjoyed the meals eaten at Pacifica. My sister and I visit daily and everything is kept clean and in order. It has been very easy to get to know the staff inside and outside of the memory care wing Legacies. The front desk reception is always friendly and welcoming every single day. That is very impressive. The new director is a very kind and accomodating man. He was more than glad to take and share with me and my sister pictures at the holiday meal events. My sister and I really appreciated their help in making the holidays special for our Mom. The Legacies team includes some very dependable people, including Angie, Lupita, Camile, Itzel, Alyssa, Jackie, Mayra, Christie, Dawn. It is not always so easy, as my Mom and other Legacies residents all deal with memory issues, aches and pains, and balance issues that often leave them frustrated and sometimes upset. It takes a special person to assist those feeling frustrated and upset. At the same time, the Legacies team has to make sure that laundry is done and returned to the correct owners, meals are served on time and warm, and rooms are kept clean. We have been looking for a place to call home for our 91 yo Auntie T. Amy and the whole team at Pacifica have been amazing! It was a struggle to get our Auntie T healthy enough to make the change but Amy really helped us find resources in the community to make it a smooth transition. The first day Auntie T cried with happiness since this place is like a resort and the staff is so friendly and caring. The other residents are very warm and welcoming too! It is beautiful with the roses lining the property, the staff is incredible and the food is amazing. She gets to choose off a menu and it is really everything we have been hoping for! My parent has been at Pacifica for over a year and is very happy. She loves her apartment and all the activities. She has made wonderful friends and is generally very content living here. However, there has been an ongoing bump in the road. Meals: The food is pretty good most of the time. However, there are many times my mom says it just doesn't have much flavor. But the worst, and ongoing problem is that the food is frequently served lukewarm or even cold. If they could just get the meals figured out, this would be a definite 5 star or maybe 6. read more
