If you're looking for cats, go to Pet Food Express at Slatten Ranch on Saturdays from 12-3. or Pittsburg Petsmart on Sundays from 12-3. They have different kinds of cats and kittens with different shapes and colors just waiting to be loved. After a short screening application, your new friend is yours! Cats and kittens have an adoption fee of $100. If you're looking for dogs, they don't bring them on site. Instead, they're all at a foster house in Brentwood. Man, I've never seen so many dogs in one place! Small and big dogs alike! You can tell they're well taken cared of at Joy's house. Usually you can just sit there, observe all their personalities, and pick from there. I'm sure one will steal your heart like my Wyatt has. Dogs and puppies adoption fees range from $125-$300, depending on age, special needs, purity of breed, etc. Email joysdogs@gmail.com or call 925 473-4642 to make an appt. And if for any reason you find that you and your new furry friend aren't working out, you can bring him/her back to the organization free of charge within a month after adoption. They make the process of adopting a new little friend very easy. I love their "Cat Connection" room at San Mateo Pet Feed (El Camino, Redwood City) where all the kitties have an entire room to play and run and be happy kitties while they are waiting to be adopted. It is always fun to go in there and play with them and you can really get a sense of their personality. You're the best Humanimal Connection!!

My kittens were placed with a foster family until they were able to be adopted and so they were well socialized. Also, they came microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, spayed, etc. . . Plus they got a free vet visit included with the adoption. If you are looking for a cat or kitten, this is a great place to consider, but no matter what---ADOPT!!!!! There are too many unwanted animals in this world and buying from a pet store or personal breeder just promotes the breeding of animals, which is not needed considering that there are already enough out there as it is without intentional breeding. My kittens are totally cool. Lila plays fetch and actually drops the toy that she is fetching right into my hand! Lily is a total lap cat and can't give me and my kids and husband enough love. I am so happy that I took the two sisters together. One is great, but two are double the fun :-) LOVE them!!!!!!! ADOPT!!!!!

The Palo Alto Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Station allows residents of the city to make sure…read morethat their household chemicals, expired medications and the like are disposed of in a proper, safe, and yes environmentally friendly manner Let be honest. By and large as humans we are at best crappy stewards of our planet. Rest assured, I won't get too preachy but a little history is in order. In 1983, and years before the California government required it, Palo Alto started a small program to collect and dispose of chemicals lurking in homes that were no longer wanted or needed. Lets face it the sheer volume of outright toxic agents found in homes especially in the later half of the 70's would result in a full blown hazmat situation today. Recognizing that lacking an alternative, most people will simply either allow these dangerous chemicals and the like to pile up, or worse simply dump them down the drain or into the soil. The program slowly grew and ultimately now the collection occurs every Saturday morning. The program could not be more simple. You load up you old cans of paint, round up, old medications and the like, and head to the station. There are limits as to how much you can bring per trip. This is not a City issue, but rather a CALTRANS requirement regarding the transport of hazardous wastes without a permit. You get in line. A attendant checks you ID and asks a few questions ( 1) have you used us before, and 2) are you representing more than one household) and give you basic instructions. The line moves pretty quickly. You pull your car into the station and turn it off (2 cars at a time) and pop your trunk. They unload your stuff and you are on your way. You do not get out of your car at all. Its super quick and easy. To give you an idea we had about 10 cars in front of us and it took about 8 minutes of waiting to get to us. The website lists what the will and will not take, but basically normal household items are accepted (including my giant propane tank that was partially filled and had a stick valve. Its an invaluable service, thet keeps our homes claer of hazardous materials, and keeps them out of our wenvironment. A classic Win/Win for everybody

I figured someone would step in to help. About a few days went by, on a Friday I saw the post again. I reached out and on Sunday I picked up these boys in Fremont. The family that found them at a park took them in but could not keep them. Between the backyard and garage to a bathroom, I figured I could help since I would keep them in my office where it's safe, warm, and room for them to play. This rescue agreed to help take these boys in but due to space which was why a foster was needed. They were friendly right off the bat. I had everything setup that morning already; food, water, and litter box. Once we got home and I let them out of the carrier, I instantly fell in love w/ both boys. Anyway. Fostering through Whis-Purr was a delight. I had everything sent to me; food, litter, even toys! I appreciated that because it's not just food and water; enrichment is just as important. When I dropped them off for surgery, I was able to get a tour from Lucy and was surprised that she was right. Her rescue is not like the shelter at all. The cats had room to sleep, play, and hide. Their area is clean and secured. I am going to be volunteering here, maybe once a week so I can still see and interact w/ these 2. I got their names from Disney's Onwards. The description on Pet Finder is so accurate. They are brave, sweet, loving, and playful. I cried so much the day I dropped them off. Too much that my boss walked over to my desk to check in on me yesterday. They made a huge dent in my heart. https://www.facebook.com/100064620884675/posts/pfbid09GMHgadsVBwVqA6mtj1yGBS2b3PeqaXyDDfKTB2KKJDaf3Ytj5qFwHYoRD97b8iQl/?mibextid=cr9u03 Save a life. There were a few rescues on my list but Whis-Purr was most conveniently close. They're attached to a feed store. So I assumed I could just walk-in and visit the cats. Instead, I was directed to the card on the bulletin board to call and make an appointment and/or send an email. I did both and was asked fill out an application to adopt. So, they knew what sort of cats I was looking for and to know a bit about me being a potential cat owner. I appreciate this initial screening process as it's the first step in protecting the cats and their future forever home. I was elated to return and visit some kitties on the same day after sending my application. Lucy met me at the door and let me sit in various cages with the kittens and cats. I took a photo of my (now my kitty) Sage at the window and was most interested in the spotted tabbies with their bengal/ocicat look. However, once I went in other cages and met the other kittens and cats, my decision became more difficult. All the cats and kittens I met were extremely friendly and loving. It was a clear indication that Whis-Purr takes excellent care of all their cats. They have fancy set-ups in their cages with lots of toys, places to climb and even some tunnels to run around up top from cage to cage. Lucy explained to me they are also adopted out together based on their connections which makes total sense. She's very protective of all the felines and explained the kittens are not adopted out until four months (if I can recall correctly). So, if you see one too young you are interested in, you will have to wait until they're old enough. I had previously adopted very young kittens and have lived through the beginning months when they can get into everything, and they constantly need a watchful eye. So I think this is a good policy. I met three different sets of cats and ultimately decided on some 8 month old sister and brother kittens - Sage & Simon. Despite getting a great feeling from the other cats and kittens, I had chose these two but decided to pick them up a week later. The holiday season is a busy time for me, and I was going to be out of town the following weekend. Lucy was kind enough to be flexible. I sent her a deposit and bought all the recommended items for them. So it was nice that everything arrived by the time I picked them up. In the interim, I longed to have them, and I made arrangements with Lucy to visit them on my lunch hour a couple times during the week before official adoption day. These visits also sealed the deal as far as picking the right cats. When the day came to take my kitties home, Lucy packed up all their toys, belongings and sent me home with their familiar food and some litter to get them acquainted to their new Litter Robot. She went into thorough explanation of tips, advice and resources for me including pet insurance and leaving herself available if I had any questions. I can't think of a better place to adopt a cat nor a better person to help you find your new kitty! Lucy and company do an amazing job here, and all these cats and kittens are blessed to be in their care. I highly recommend visiting Whis-Purr Rescue if you're looking for a cat or cats!
