Poor service and one inexperienced barber. Who not to mention messed up my haircut because he decided to do whatever the freak he felt like it. Destroyed my shape up and gave me a crappy haircut due. What the heck am I suppose to do. They're so anal that when you make an appointment you have to be real specific otherwise you're not gonna be taken care of fully so make sure to be specific over the phone when you make an appointment (Hope who ever picks up the phones knows what the heck your talking about). I get bad for the guy as he felt bad himself but the dude killed me now I gotta wait for it to grow back and look like a complete doofus until I can go to some real professionals. Shame how one bad experience can just bring the whole place down. Suggestions to the barbers, listen to your customers carefully and do exactly WTF they asked you to do. No one cares about your opinion for a new look unless they tell you. Stick to they style, you're suppose to be professionals with the outrages price you charge!!! Also, stop rushing, haircuts are a work of art. Appointments over floats at barbershops, they'll wait. Customers come first and go above and beyond service so you can maybe get yourself a good review next time. I've been going to Andrea for close to two years now and she's the best barber I've had and I don't you can find anyone better. I started going to her back when she was at a shop in Bushwick and have continued to go as she moved to Williamsburg and now Soho. Andrea really takes the time with every step of the process and doesn't rush the blending up top or details on the side (my typical cut is buzzed sides with scissors on top and a slight fade). She is also great to talk to and has great style and suggestions, which is helpful to me as I usually have a general idea of what I want but need some help with the specifics. The barber shop as a whole is pretty great too. The staff is very helpful and they have a good selection of products while also not pushing you to buy something. There's a nice backyard, the waiting area is well stocked and there are some great places nearby to do some shopping or get coffee if you're waiting for an appointment. I personally like the new scheduling system as you can schedule an appointment in advance now and don't have to worry about the old daily waitlist, which was a pain if you lived or worked farther away. read more

I was a customer at Fellow in Williamsburg for a while, but I abandoned them one night after rushing over in a cab to arrive before their last call, only to be told I couldn't get a cut because all the barbers were booked. Frustrated, I went to a place in East Williamsburg that accepted walk-ins, nervous about the cut I'd get from an unknown barber, when I met Andrea. She took her time and gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. Since then, no one else has touched my hair. I followed her when she moved over to Fellow in Soho, and I can happily say that they've now started to institute a reservation system, so there are no more disappointing snafus with making the trek only to be turned away. (It would be great if you could book more than a few days in advance, mind you, but at least you can make a plan a day or two in advance.) All my stars are for Andrea. Ever since January, I have been getting my hair cut at the Fellow Barber location on Crosby Street. I was told through the grapevine to get my hair cut by Xavier, one of the most popular barbers at that location. By the time my first haircut was done, I could see why Xavier is, as the receptionist quoted, "pretty damn popular". Xavier is not only a hardworking individual who has honed his craft, but he also exudes what true customer service is. Everytime I come in, he always welcomes me to his chair with a smile & a (firm) handshake, asks me how life & work is-everything that has been missing in a barbershop, which is genuine friendliness, fellowship & all-around good folks. I had been bouncing around between different barber shops and salons for some time now and have experienced just mediocre cuts. Today I visited Fellow Barber after it was recommended to me by a friend and I could not be happier. Andrea was exceptionally friendly and gave me exactly the kind of cut I was looking for. Fellow Barber is fantastic. I have been to the one in West Village and to this one in Soho. I don't know if Fellow Barber puts their barbers through tests but it sure seems like the do. Maybe I am lucky, but the wait has never been longer than 20 minutes. (In Soho I have often walked right in without any wait.) I have gone on Saturdays and also midday during the week. I was never fully happy with my haircut until I came to Fellow Barber and I have been everywhere from the local guy to Bumble & Bumble and Cutler paying over $100 for a haircut. Ashley is as good as it gets. I will never go to another hair stylist again. She is perfect. I get tired of my hairstyles often and each time I change the idea she listens to me and gets it. I feel very lucky that I've found her and will stay with her as long as she cuts hair. Give this place a shot. read more

It isn't easy having short hair in a city that charges $75+ for a women's haircut. Frustrated after countless visits to top-tier salons, I found myself headed to the barber--despite the horror stories I had heard about certain shops not being keen on doing women's cuts. Fellow Barber wasn't (and isn't) that kind of shop. The barbers here are welcoming and eager to face the challenge that a women's cut often presents. Alexia has been cutting my hair since her Williamsburg days and is an absolute gem. I'm happy to head into the city or leave my office mid-day if it means having the chance to sit in her chair. I went here a while back for a killer haircut. A tad costly, mine came out to around 45$, but the experience was well worth it. I was treated very well by my barber, who unfortunately I've forgotten his name, and listened exactly to what I wanted and exceeded my expectations.
