Another great spot for boba in South San Jose and close to a lot of grocery stores and shops, making this a great spot for a break. Feng Cha usually has higher quality teas than other boba chains so I was happy to have stopped by during a visit to the South Bay. I ordered my usual Oolong Milk Tea with Boba and Oat Milk (less sugar/ice), and it turned out great. The drink is slightly more bitter because there was less sugar which was fine by me. I could taste the quality for sure. Their milk teas by default use their non-dairy creamer but you can choose to sub out for oat or soy milk, which is what I usually do. Shop itself was small with a few people working on their laptops inside. Overall, a quick and reliable stop to get good quality boba. read more

Stopped by with my little brother and we ordered two drinks and two popcorn chickens. I asked the staff for a drink recommendation, and she suggested the Mango Fantasy. I was a little hesitant at first, but I was pleasantly surprised, it ended up being really good! It's part of their blended series, and I especially liked how the grapefruit inside wasn't bitter. I've tried other places where the grapefruit makes the drink taste unpleasant, but this one was perfectly balanced. We also got the Cookie Crush, which is kind of like a chocolate frappe, and it was really good too. My little brother loved it, and I liked how it wasn't overly sweet or loaded with syrup. He normally doesn't finish an entire drink and he did with this place! For snacks, we got two orders of popcorn chicken, one spicy and one regular. The sauce that came with it was delicious, and the spicy version actually had a nice kick (which I appreciated since a lot of places label it spicy but it's not and I have to ask for more powder). Overall, I'd give this place a solid 4/5. There are still a lot of drinks I want to try, and next time I definitely want to get the truffle fries! read more

Nice service, clean spot but likely wouldn't return. We ordered the popcorn chicken and the osmanthus ginger honey tea, both of which we normally order at other places and are big fans of. The popcorn chicken meat was slightly dark and grey, and the batter mix used tasted weird. A disappointment especially considering the price point. Unfortunately, the drinks were also a miss for us. Excellent shop for tea tasting like good tea that is notably short on the sugar and not compromising on flavor (bonus points for strong tea too). They also have desserts and savory treats on their menu, but generally I'm not too hot on those to begin with. Their aesthetic is clean and classy so if I'm nearby it's definitely an easy choice! I liked the tea quality, especially their black sea and happy to see everything is customizable - ice, sugar, tea, milk, foam topping, etc. Their dirty boba is the high calorie mother-load if you're into milk tea with boba, black sugar and topped with cheese foam. I rather like the oreo milk tea, which is the classic black milk tea (Chinese it's red tea) with cheese foam and grounded oreo cookie crumbs on top, 50% sweet. the cookie crumbs on top of cheese foam is perfect for added texture but not too heavy or sweet. Visited Feng Cha Teahouse since my husband and I were running errands and happened to park right across from here. It didn't look busy when we first saw the shop, but slowly got busier with a lot of people taking their drinks to-go. I ordered their matcha breeze (light sweet with boba) and made the mistake of not getting a copy of the receipt. Some drinks came out for the group before us, then there was a mango breeze that came out. People after us picked up their drinks as well. My husband matched his credit card number with the order ticket for the mango breeze, and we had our drink revised back to the matcha breeze I originally ordered. They also had messed up another girl's drink since she went back to the counter to let them know that the drink was incorrect.  This aside, the matcha breeze itself was not bad. It is basically a matcha smoothie with boba pearls. The boba pearls were perfectly chewy. They were already sweet to begin with and made the "light" level of sweetness I ordered just right.  They accept credit card and have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. There is also a bench you could sit at to get a picture of the shop name with Brown (the bear). Parking is plentiful and shared with the other restaurants and stores in the plaza. read more

My friend and I arrived here for Feng Cha's grand opening, which started at 12 pm. We decided to arrive early around 11:15 AM, but there was already a line formed! Loved the promotions they did on social media and the banner to promote their first day with a BOGO and balloon arch. The long line definitely got interest from the South Bay community at the Almaden Plaza. PARKING: Parking isn't a worry since there's a big parking lot fit for the other eateries there. AMBIENCE: Loved where they chose their venue because it's next to known fast food chains and a sushi spot, so great way to get some boba as a dessert especially during the summer. Was passing by and noticed the grand opening. There was constantly long line with approximately 30 min waiting before the order and afterwards. For the grand opening I personally feel that they did an amazing job handling taking care of the customers. The drinks are very tasty and offer different items I've never heard of or had before. Marketing was great, nice pictures, highly rated yelp reviews raving about the Bogo deal, and a nice interior decoration. I asked for the BoGo deal but they didn't honor the deal anymore, not a big deal. We came here during a heat wave, and the value for the drink didn't match for me. I paid $15 for two drinks which in todays inflated economy is expected but still a terrible norm for the actual cost of ingredients used. The boba texture itself was good, but the flavor on the drinks were average and bland. I got the bursting dragonfruit and a peach oolong tea, and am wondering if the other drinks would've tasted better. I think the dilemma here is that there are too many items to choose from, and that makes it hard to pick drink specialties or differentiate themselves in a competitive environment, so maybe they should focus on core items that deliver awesome flavor.
