Fer is a go-to lunch spot in this unassuming corner of LIC, with reliably good noodles that pack a punch. There's plenty of seating and nice natural light. Portions are substantial enough to pack leftovers for later, or to share two dishes between three people. It's usually pretty empty mid-day, with more people coming to pick up takeout orders than dining in.
Came here for a dinner and because I was craving beef noodle soup! The inside was quite clean and modern and we were seated right away. Me and my friend each got the supreme beef noodle soup with rice noodles which is something you don't see often with beef noodle soups. The beef was extremely tender and flavorful! The veggies gave a nice crunch and freshness and the chili oil was not too spicy. Overall a great place for a noodles in LIC!
It is, as they say, a neighborhood gem I've come here quite a few times now (shout out Brooklyn boulders membership you get 10% off) and it's great. I always get the mapo tofu (vegetarian) with medium spice, which is a good amount of spice, but one of these days I'll try spicy. The only downside is I don't think they've ever gotten our order correctly lol. They always get the spice level wrong, or give the wrong dish to the wrong person (if we order the same dish but different spice levels), or forget one our sides. It's actually kinda funny how many times this has happened. Like the last time we went, one of us ordered mapo tofu/spicy/add egg, and another ordered mapo tofu/medium/add egg, and they came out with one mapo tofu with egg and one without and said the were the same level of spice. Anyways it gets busy around 630-7pm and there's usually 2 severs. There's a restroom.
Love this place! First lunch in NYC on this trip! The inside aesthetic was really nice and it was pretty empty on a weekday lunch. We got the spicy chicken cold noodles (egg noodles w/ fresh cucumber & scallions in homemade sauce) and the chilli wontons (homemade wontons w/ scallion in homade chilli sauce). They were both really delicious. The fresh cucumber made the noodles very refreshing on a hot day! The homemade sauce was also very yummy and paired perfect with the noodles. I love chilli wontons in general and these were bomb! The portion was a lot bigger than I thought, so the price point was great. The bowl for the noodles was a little small for the amount they gave, so it was a bit hard to mix the noodles. Would love to come back!
I would recommend this spot! The food and service are great. I ordered a rice noodle dry bowl with tripe in it and the braised beef tapa. Overall, the price is very fair ($14 for each). The bowl was hella filling and I ordered it extra spicy. It was tasty and I would recommend it to anyone who likes Chinese food.
I was looking forward to the chilled spicy chicken, but unfortunately they were out. We got the beef noodle soup and juicy lamb noodles - both as mild for spice level. The beef was so tender and had a good kick for the spice. Noodles were cooked perfectly. I loved the lamb noodles, which only come as a soup option. The meat wasn't over cooked and there was a generous portion of meat in the dish. This place has lots of seating and was also able to accommodate large groups by putting tables together.
Cute corner spot with a lot of tables and counter seating. They have cute fruit chopstick holders! Went for a rainy early weekend dinner, and it was mostly empty. The service was friendly and attentive. The Matcha Coconut is more coconut-y than matcha since the drink is coconut water with matcha, but it's a pretty good combo! The Orange Green Tea Passionfruit is not too sweet. Another good combo. The Spicy Chicken Cold Noodles (Spicy Spicy Level) is not overly spicy. It's got the right amount of kick that's enjoyable. The noodles were al dente and perfectly chilled. They give a lot of noodles; I couldn't finish it it all! The chicken was well cooked, but I wish it was chilled to match the temperature of the noodles and cucumbers. I ate my leftover cold and preferred it that way. Overall a cute chill spot to eat noodles and drink something refreshing!
My two married friends have high standards for food and they don't repeat restaurants that are just OK. Fer is one of the restaurants they'll frequently return and take their out-of-town friends to. The interior is minimal and spacious, and I was surprised it wasn't that busy this past Sunday evening. Our server was quick to get our order and the food came out quickly. S4 DROOLING CHICKEN 口水鸡 - 12 Who's drooling? I am. This is under their "Tapas" part of the menu, but it came with two chicken thighs (skin-on) that's been cut into thin pieces, swimming in a pool of chili oil sauce. Despite the color, it really wasn't that spicy. The chicken was flavorful, juicy, and tender. The skin wasn't very fatty, which was perfect. Absolutely delicious, this is a must for an appetizer to share. We had leftovers since the portion size is huge. M1 SUPREME BEEF 牛肉粉/面 - 14 + egg noodles (they have rice noodles, but my friend recommended egg) + mild spice + broth The portion size was huge! Each order came with a lot of fresh Shanghai bokchoy, bite-sized chunks of beef, and lots of green onion for garnish. The egg noodles were delicious and soaked up the broth well, which wasn't too spicy and flavorful. I enjoyed sipping on the broth and eating the bokchoy. The beef was tender and juicy. Overall, I was so impressed with the quality of the beef noodle soup. I highly recommend it! This is the perfect option on any day, rain or shine. The ambiance feels high-end, yet the cost of food is so affordable? And the portions are huge! I highly recommend Fer for their beef noodle soup and drooling chicken. This has got to be one of the best restaurants I've been to in all of NYC for its food quality, taste and affordability.
I came here for lunch with a group of friends and it was a great time! The inside of the restaurant is bright, spacious, and very clean. They have minimal sleek and wooden decor. Service here was relatively quick, and they were sweet. At one point, they forgot my friend's drink so it was on the house! Their menu has a variety of small Chinese tapas/plates, such as wontons, salads, and other small bites. They also have a variety of noodle dishes, both hot and cold AND you also have the option to eat (depending on the noodle) them with broth or dry. I got the supreme beef noodle soup dry with the broth on the side, and with medium spice. I also got the wontons. I thought that both of them were so delicious, and it was a great idea to get the broth on the side. The broth was light and comforting. Meanwhile, the beef noodles were packed full of flavor and the egg noodles were delicious. Note that my friends did think their mild was spicy, so if you don't have high spice tolerance then play on the safe side and get a mild or no spice! Good spot for some Chinese noodles and I would love to come back to try some of their cold dishes.
Wow what a pleasant surprise. Came in here one night with my girlfriend after our workout and it blew us both away. We've both eaten a lot of noodle soups between Chinatown and Flushing.... This was booooomb. Tofu and cucumber apps were great. And wontons reminded me a little of White Bear's. Great service and music too... can't wait to come back!
We came on a Wednesday night at 6pm and it was easy to get a seat. It seems they mostly do takeout but the interior is so adorable and cozy and the service was quick! The portion size is also great for the price. My favorite was osmanthus tofu pudding dessert. Super fragrant and delicious. Would recommend!
Ok so we have ordered delivery from this place like 4x already because it's so good, the portions are huge, and the delivery is prompt. It's basically an "upscale" Chinese restaurant. So happy we are finally eating in! The ambiance is very relaxing and very trendy with the lighting and design. Very minimalist vibes. We got the beef noodle soup and ground meat/ peas /noodle dish, as well as the braised beef appetizer. Good music here as well - they were playing house when we got here. They were very considerate and let us move seats due to the cold. Overall would recommend! Great experience.
Loved everything here! I got the supreme beef & I don't usually finish my soups but I bodied this one. It was def spicy and flavorful! Loved the bok choy in it and how soft the meat was. Hubby got the juicy lamb and he enjoyed his too. Although he was looking at mine the whole time. The vibe inside is pretty chill, very interesting playlist that day. Came here on a bit of a rebound after striking out at Finback (no food situation ), so maybe expectations were already in flux--but still, Fer ended up being a mixed bag at best. There were three of us, and we tried a small spread: Organic Cucumber Salad, Saucy Sesame Cold Noodles, Heaven Intestines, and the Supreme Beef Noodle Soup. I'll start with the positives because there were some--both the cucumber salad and the cold noodles were solid. Fresh, balanced, and actually something I'd come back for on their own. Unfortunately, everything else went off the rails. The Heaven Intestines and the Supreme Beef Noodle Soup were aggressively salty--to the point where it completely overpowered any other flavor. Not "a little heavy-handed," but genuinely hard to eat. Two of us couldn't even finish our bowls, which says a lot considering we showed up hungry. If you stick to the lighter, cold options, you might have a decent experience. But if you're thinking about the heavier noodle soups... maybe proceed with caution (and a lot of water). Not somewhere I'd recommend if you're watching your salt intake--or, honestly, if you want a reliably good meal. read more

Solid option in an area where there still isn't much. Got takeout for lunch one day - Supreme beef noodle soup and Mapo tofu (both mild spicy. Beef was very tender and flavorful and I loved the bok choy. Not sure I'd go out of the way for it, but like I said, good if you need something around here. read more

I found Fer near my hotel when I was hunting for a quick lunch! Service was fast, restaurant was clean, and ambiance was nice. I loved the black milk tea I got, wasn't too sweet at all and the glass it came in was really wonderful. I was a tad disappointed by my noodle dish though. I ordered the pork & pea dry noodle dish, which was a new item that had a photo card that showed green peas, corn etc. in the bowl. I'm not sure if they were just out of ingredients on this particular day, but there were no green peas or corn in my bowl! They substituted a different legume. They didn't tell me that it would be different than the photograph - I would have appreciated the communication! Not sure if I let this cloud my judgement, but I found my noodles to be just alright. I felt they were pretty one-note and not as spicy as I was expecting the "spicy" level to be. Big portion for $14, so I'd definitely give them another go when I'm back in town! read more

Relaxed spot for lunch or dinner. Cozy warm interior with wooden tables and chairs, similar to that of a contemporary brunch spot. Straightforward menu, with food arriving quickly after ordering. Service is that of a typical Chinese place - attentive and prompt, wave them down if you need anything. Nice hints of spice throughout the meal. Drooling chicken - decent amount of chicken in a mouthwatering sauce (thanks to the Szechuan peppercorn!). It's served cold with the skin on (something I've been used to growing up), Chicken fried rice - generous amount of rice as well as chicken. This had a bit of numbing spice to it, which was very nice! Mapo tofu - refreshingly not oily, as most places make their Mapo tofu. Fresh tofu, and a couple sprigs of bok choy. Overall, great addition to LIC. We ended up with plenty of leftovers. Price is very reasonable, given the quantity, quality, and atmosphere. read more

Food: I had dinner here with my boyfriend and it was delicious. We ordered the supreme noodles, juicy lamb noodles, and a small order to share of beef tripes. No complaints at all great restaurant, food, and service. Service: the waiter was polite and the food came out pretty quickly. Ambience: it is a cute restaurant, pretty inside, and there was no rushing at all from the staff to finish our food. I take a long time to eat and we were sitting down at the restaurant for quite a while I liked that we were able to enjoy dinner peacefully without being rushed. read more

It's a very cute place situated in LIC. the decor in here does not give you an Asian restaurant vibe at all but instead a modern brunch spot What we got: - drooling chicken 5/5: this was simply delicious - cucumber salad 4/5; usually can't go wrong with this but there wasn't too much umami? Mainly tasted salt so wasn't too impressed - spicy numbing wontons 5/5: these were delicious, hit of sour from the vinegar and the after effect is the numbing spice but nothing unbearable - deluxe beef noodle soup 4.5/5: love the egg noodles they use. It tasted like it was hand made and the noodle portion was very large but compared to the meat portion that was lacking a bit. The soup was yummy as well but not enough soup to noodle ratio read more

I had been wanting to try Fer for a while and decided to try it after getting an uber eats promotion. I ordered the supreme beef with egg noodles (soup version) and the supreme beef with egg noodles (soupless) both spicy. First thing to note if you order soup to go they DO NOT separate the soup so it might get soggy if you live further away or let it sit. I was first impressed with how much tender beef they give you in each serving and the perfectly cooked bok choy. I definitely like the soup version better as you can taste the szechuan spices whereas the soupless one didn't have as much flavor. I think overall I do really like this place especially for a spicy beef noodle soup, but I'm not too sure if I would come back very soon since there's so many other Szechuan type places (and beef noodle soups) I like better. But I have heard the wontons here are good so who knows! read more
Ordered for takeout and their packaging is top tier. I almost wanted to save their takeout containers. We popped in right before closing and felt pretty bad, but they were very kind about it and still took our order. Everything came out pretty quickly too! We ordered 2 of the ban ban noodles + 2 tapas: JUICY LAMB: Enjoyed this the most. This was the most comforting bowl with easily staple egg noodles. The lamb was sliced thinly enough for it to not be too tough to chew nor was it too gamey. MAPO TOFU: was braised in a delicious, rich, spicy sauce, but the rice noodles were a letdown. They were probs overcooked and snapped way too easily. I'd opt for the egg noodles next time. *You can choose either rice noodle or egg noodle for the noodles. Both are thick and hold the broth/chili oil well.* CHILI BEEF JERKY: Hold off on this. It's tough and dry. MUNCHITE BEEF TRIPE: Big fan! I would come back just for this. Only gripe was that the cilantro wasn't cleaned well, so it was gritty. The sleek and modern space makes it a very serene and inviting spot to dine-in, so I do recommend checking the spot out and enjoying the atmosphere. A clean, modern restaurant for Chinese noodles! Our group of four ordered 4 dishes to share, all with medium spice: 1) Juicy lamb with egg noodle soup 2) Chilled spicy chicken noodles 3) Chili wontons 4) Mapo tofu over egg noodles The best dish by far was the chilled spicy chicken noodles, it had tons of cucumber and peanuts and was very refreshing. I'd come back just for this dish tbh. The other noodles were kind of similar in flavor, the soup was very light but still flavorful. I think this place is a nice, casual food spot if you're looking for a quick meal or takeaway. Usually it's never too busy and service is friendly and food comes out fast. I got the supreme beef medium spicy and it definitely has a kick to it. They do offer mild which my wife got for her intestine soup. Honestly that also had a light kick to it. So if you're not into spicy, definitely make sure to tell them no spice because even mild may be too much for some. It's also nice right now if you're a member of Brooklyn Boulders Climbing Gym because they have a punch card for 10% off your bowl and free bowl after ten so not bad! Overall, will probably come back if I'm in the mood for something soupy especially as the weather gets colder! read more

A very solid Chinese noodle place!! I came here with a friend around 1pm on a Saturday and was seated right away! There are many tables so there shouldn't be too long of a wait if any to get seated. We ordered the munchie beef tripes to share and it was delicious! It was both salty and spicy, super addicting to keep munching on while we waited for our main entrees. It was also a very large appetizer so it is extremely good value. I ordered the supreme beef egg noodle soup and the meat was super tender and soft, each bite melted in my mouth. The noodles were also the perfect al dente. Overall, a great place to eat if you're craving some authentic Chinese noodle soups and appetizers. read more
Got the supreme beef with rice noodles. The broth was pretty good although it wasn't as spicy as I thought it was gonna be, and they gave chili oil on the side once I requested. This is my second time here. This place is consistent, from the presentation to the flavor. They nail each ingredient to perfection. Do you see the to go container? And the utensils package? Love it. The food here is tasty and reasonably priced for a casual dinner when you don't want to cook! Some of my favorites are the Supreme beef noodle soup (will try it dry when I return), mouthwatering chicken, and chili wontons! The chicken was so flavorful and had this unique smokey flavor. We also got the sesame noodles which I didn't enjoy too much since it was a bit bland and not enough sauce to coat all the noodles and cucumbers. The chicken broth wontons were also a bit lackluster. Fer is a really great spot for noodles and catching up with friends! The waiter was really nice and consistently refilled our water. At no point did we feel rushed, even as the restaurant got busier. The food was excellent and I especially love their heavenly intestine noodle soup, which comes with vegetables! I love that I'm able to customize the noodle type and spice level. The food is delicious and inexpensive and there's really nothing to complain about. read more

I have been thinking about their Drooling Chicken nonstop since I've had it. It was incredible - this chicken melts in your mouth. The sauce is fantastic and the chicken is the juiciest and most tender chicken you'll have. (Added bonus that there were absolutely no bones in the chicken even though the pieces were massive and I was so happy about that.) Besides that, their noodles were also delicious. I only tried the soup version, because it was a cold day and it hit the spot. The noodles were well done and the broth was delicious. There was also a generous amount of meat and veggies in my dish. Next time, I definitely want to try one of their dry noodle options! Because of their exceptional and mind blowing chicken, I'm giving this place a 5 stars and will definitely come back! read more

If you're a fan of spicy food then you will really enjoy this place. LIC has high price tags on everything and for a restaurant to succeed, it really needs to be smashing and out of the ordinary. This place delivers on being flavorful enough to stand out. The menu is straightforward and keeps things simple with a small list of items. It's a spicy noodle shop. Plain and simple. The spicy sauce stands out and it fits each of the dishes rather nicely. The portions are pretty big, it is packed with flavor, and not insanely expensive. I have small gripes but won't mention them here. However, the only reason for the 4 stars are the service and food can be a hit-or-miss sometimes. I would say the last few visits have been kinda MEH. It depends on who is working and whether the managers are paying attention or not. However, the majority of the time, it has been good and the staff in here are very friendly. I think the owner said the store name means DOUGH in Chinese. I'd still suggest you give this place a try. No regrets. read more
