Before SDSU games my boyfriend and I like to hunt for super good taco spots and this place definitely made the list. Nice variety, super seafood very well, the only thing is that this place doesn't serve alcohol, but that's just a personal preference of mine. Otherwise, a great no frills tacos spot with quick customer service, outdoor seating, and great food.

Love this place! The food and service are always top notch easily a 10/10 The owners are incredibly kind and attentive, and Sochi always serves with so much care and the sweetest smile. The El Prieto is my go-to favorite, but honestly everything on the menu is amazing. The ambiance is lively, fun, and they even have outdoor seating. Parking can take a few extra minutes sometimes, but it's definitely worth it. Loveee this placeee!

We loved the ceviche, and everything we ordered was well prepared and flavorful. The service was friendly, and we had a great experience overall. We will definitely be returning when we're in San Diego. Be mindful that it is cash only.

Went here with a few friends and the food was great! We had the mango wango ceviche high was refreshing but a little sweet for my liking. The prieto ceviche with raw shrimp was incredible. W also got the shrimp and Cali tacos which were perfectly cooked and crispy. The service was great, it was my first time there and they were very helpful. It has a small hole in the wall casual vibe. The parking is a bit tough but I was able to find a spot on the street. They're cash or Venmo only.

Hole in the wall restaurant that specializes in seafood ceviches! It was so good! My son ordered a Large Enamorada. I ordered Birria Ramen. My Husband ordered Shrimp Tacos. They have great tasting sauces! Every ingredients were fresh! I cannot wait to come here and go down the menu again and try everything! The servers were so nice and helpful especially on what food to order. By the time we left, a line has formed outside already and that tells me my son made the right choice for lunch!! Try it!!

While visiting San Diego, we were seeking a place to cure our mariscos cravings and spotted this cute little establishment with ample street parking. I love that you can order at the window from the friendly staff, and that there is a modest amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Something that drew us to Ferchaladas was the eclectic menu with some of the freshest options. I immediately chose the Tamarindo Jicama ceviche and a birria taco for good measure. My ceviche came stacked with fresh shrimp, cucumber, red onion, avocado, and jicama with a generous toss of the tamarind sauce. The tajin on the home made tostada was a nice touch. This dish was perfection. My birria taco was phenomenal and also made to perfection. My daughter liked her Hija De Su** Madre Tostada but preferred my son in law's meal. He has a habit of always choosing the best things on any given menu! We all loved his El Prieto ceviche which came tossed in a black sauce with cucumber, red onion, tomato, and avocado. I highly suggest coming here with dining partners that love to eat so you can try a variety of dishes. I will most definitely return when in SD.

Hidden Gem Alert!!!! Must Try ASAP!!!! Randomly driving by and noticed all the benches outside were full... flipped a U-turn and went down to try it out. Ordered a Birria Nachos to go and Shrimp Taco while I waited. The taco was amazing!!! Packed with flavor, crunchy, cheesy, juicy, soooo good! They bring over 4 large salsa bottles to each table. My favorite was the Serrano salsa (green bottle)... super spicy but delicious. All of them were great! The Birria nachos were HUGE!!!! Packed with meat, crunchy nachos, cheese, Ben's, onions, etc... I was stuffed but couldn't stop eating. I didn't try them YET but a few others had ceviche's... they were stacked so high. Vibe was fun and relaxing. The service was great. They were fast and friendly. Indoor dining room was small but enough for a few small groups. Outdoor, they had a bunch of large picnic tables along the sidewalk and side of restaurant. Street parking. 100% coming back.

Our group of 8 came here for a pre-roadtrip meal and the food was amazing! We each ordered 2-3 tacos and then shared 3 ceviches and a large shrimp and octopus fries. All the food came in generous portions. Our mistake was ordering 2-3 tacos each when we really only needed 1 with how many dishes we got to share. I got the shrimp and octopus taco and the SD taco - both were great! Can't remember what my favorite ceviche was but I thought all of them were worth getting. Staff was accommodating to our large group and were very friendly!

Food The food is delicious!! And not too pricey! I was only able to try the birria tacos and shrimp tacos but I already want to go back! Every ingredient is fresh. We got the signature ceviche and both the shrimp and octopus tacos. The ceviche is huge, with all the seafood in a creamy ceviche sauce, and super delicious - signature for a reason. The tacos are hefty and flavorful as well, though the shrimp and octopus were both slightly over. Sauces were tasty. All in all very solid mariscos spot and will have to come back to try the birria as well!

I gotta say it's the best birria I've ever eaten! Now add the fries and shrimp, just became the best combination of surf and turf. Great service too by a young lady named Liz and a super friendly waiter Uriel. I will definitely be coming back regularly to this place!!! A MUST TRY!! I don't normally sit in the restaurant to write, until now! Small gem, located on a relaxed busy street, a mix of homes and businesses. Parking is limited, not like you won't find something but be mindful to start looking. A decision was hard to make, so many smiling faces and delicious plates. I came at a good time, one of the owners was there running the cashier and helped me make a decision. I went with Our Famous "Hija de su P^+@ Madre Tostada" (yes that's how it's spelled) and barria taco with cheese. Both hit different! I felt myself being transported. This is just bomb dot com good. Another way you know its good. They are open til sold out or 6pm, whichever comes first. I sat near some regulars who come every single Sunday. Yep, I will be back.

I came here on a Saturday right before closing, and the place was pretty empty. There was just one family finishing up as I arrived. Parking is street parking only, but I got lucky and found a spot on a nearby side street. They're cash only, but they also accept Zelle, Venmo, and Cash App. It was surprisingly chilly inside. It was about 57° outside, so I'm not sure why the AC was blasting. Cell service is pretty bad inside, so if you're eating solo, don't expect to doom scroll or send texts. My food came out in about 10 minutes. I ordered: Shrimp taco: Absolutely delicious. The shrimp had great flavor and were piled on generously. Birria taco: Crispy, fresh, and loaded with meat. They bring out four different sauces, though none are labeled. Still, they really elevate the tacos. One downside is that they don't offer free water. You have to buy a bottled water for $2, which feels a bit steep. Overall, the staff was very friendly and the prices were reasonable. $4 for the birria taco and $7 for the shrimp taco. Definitely quality food.

I've always thought ceviche was decent but never gave it much thought or craved it until I tried Ferchaladas. The ceviche here is unreal - the portions are massive (well worth the price) and it's just straight up delicious. There are a few varieties which are really fun to try, although I think my fave is the shrimp ceviche - perfect combo of tangy and refreshing and the tostadas with the ceviche are the perfect vehicle for delivery. The birria tacos and fries are delicious too! The staff here are also really nice and the food comes super fast (which always surprises me just given sheer volume). Nice combo of indoor and outdoor tables, and dog-friendly, too! Good food, chill vibe, fun people watching...can't get better than that! read more

I was really craving ceviche so I just searched something up and this came up. So we decided to try it. When you arrive it looks like a little hole in the wall, which they usually turn out to be the best spots and this was definitely it!! You walk in and order at the counter and their menu is not limited. We had ordered about 3 different types of ceviche and all of them were sooo flavorful. The tacos and fries were also amazing. The Aguachile Prieto is amazing! 10/10 Nice sized portion as well - large definitely is enough for two people. The shrimp / octopus cocktail was okay 7/10, cooked shrimp and cooked octopus were decent and the flavor was okay. Quesabirria tacos 9/10. The consomé is very soupy but very flavorful. WOAH! I thought I had had the best birria in San Diego, but Ferchalada's Birria blew them out of the water. What can I say? Aamazing food, outstanding flavorful and authentic Mexican birria. They offer tons of different birria and seafood plates, including birria ramen, birria nachos and birria fries! I love an authentic Mexican place that offers unique fun menu options. We ordered 3 Shrimp Tacos, 1 QuesaTaco (Birria w Melted Cheese on Corn Tortilla) and 2 Regular Birria Tacos served with purple cabbage and red onion. The tacos were big and stuffed with mouthwatering birria, super filling. We also got a mexican coke and a clamato michelada to pair with the tacos. We went in on a Sunday morning after a night out and their amazing food hit the spot. The service was very attentive and welcoming. Ambiance was chill, they offer indoor and outdoor seating! They close at 5pm everyday so make sure to check them out for breakfast or lunch. Truly a hidden gem, as most hidden gems in San Diego Ferchalada's is cash only so grab cash before heading over. I see why this place has nearly 5 stars! Quick and tasty. The waitress was patient and explained the menu and most popular dishes since it was my first visit. I ordered three birria tacos which was super filling. 4 different sauces and I used all 4 just because they all tasted soooo good. Chill vibes with some patio seating available. Excellent! We had the green ceviche with raw shrimp. You are given the choice of raw or cooked. The ceviche we have had in the past has always been raw. I think it is great you are given the option. Three of us shared a large ceviche and each had a taco, tilapia and the California taco with French fries. Service was helpful and on point. We sat outside in the fresh air, picnic table style. We were able to speak personally with the owner/chef which is always a treat. This place is a San Diego gem. Thank you for the culinary excellence. read more

This place is yummy. The ceviche was so fresh. We were hesitant because we got it raw which we didn't think twice about since ceviche typically cooks from lime juice. Regardless it was so flavorful and refreshing. The tacos were not greasy at all which I appreciated. These two were more than enough to share. read more

I lovee coming to Ferchaladas the food is always so delicious no matter which dish you order and the salsas go with everything with each their own unique flavor. I love to get the questacos and the birria grilled cheese my top 2 most ordered things. They have really great seafood the octopus taco and mango wango dishes are amazingly served with the presentation and especially the taste. I have tried various shrimp cocktails the last few weeks due to this heat, each one was missing something. At last I found one that haS EVERYTHING! The shrimp cocktail had so much flavor, a lot of crispy veggies even avocado, it lacked nothing. My husband had the birria grilled cheese which was delicious. It had a crispy outer layer of cheese and even more melty cheese inside. It is big enough for 2 ppl. We also had the birria fries, big proportion as well and worth every bite. This place is so delicious. I have been twice and ordered different items each time. 1st time was a shrimp taco and quesobirria. 2nd time was a Cali taco and shrimp and octopus taco. All tacos we are delicious and fresh and huge. The shop is small but they have some seating inside and out. Parking can be a bit tricky , but it is worth it. read more

I don't even know where to begin. I posted a video on Instagram looking for the best Birria in San Diego and was directed to this spot, as it won the most votes. I couldn't believe how delicious the food was and I have been back multiple times since. I love that they have Birria and Mariscos! The food here is fire!!! Everything on the menu will not disappoint! It is a little pricey but the serving sizes make up for it. I come here pretty often. Their services is fast and efficient and they accommodate to your needs. They did extend their sitting so now you can sit outside and inside on picnic tables. Parking isn't the best because they don't have their own lot but you can always find a spot somewhere on the street. There's a liquor store a few block up and you can grab an adult beverage and enjoy your meal! read more

We ordered 4 tacos and my wife said with cheese 3 times over the phone and I heard her. Somehow tacos still came with no cheese. We called them back to let them know. They refused to give us a small credit of $5.00 towards next purchase and accepted no responsibility. Sad because we talked up the food to my Aunt and Uncle for his bday. Based on that kind of customer service I won't be coming back and I will not recommend them to anybody anymore! Bad news travels faster then good news. As a business owner for 17yrs 2 businesses - I honor my mistakes and mistakes by my employees and take care of customers if we are in the wrong. That's what has kept me in business during hard times and good times. Girl on phone was horrible. Live 3 blocks away. - have brought about 30 people to eat here. And have introduced at least 50 people more to there food with take out orders. read more

I was visiting friends and they suggested this spot MAN oh man I am SO glad they did EVERYTHING was perfect Family owned and everything was made from love. The shrimp cocktails are second to none. My cousin and I were in town for the weekend and he invited me out to eat for a late lunch/early dinner. I wasn't going to turn that down being that we were meeting his local friends who were also foodies in San Diego. We ended up at Ferchaladas and I must say I wasn't disappointed. I had looked on Yelp for their menu options prior to getting there, so I was ready to order a little bit of everything. They had ceviche, birria, seafood, quesadillas, kids meals, fries a little bit of everything. I believe they are known for their ceviche, so I ordered the "Mango Wango." It had huge chunks of mango and most importantly it had huge pieces of shrimp. One plate easily serves two. It comes with some custom made, delicious tostadas with a seasoning over them. It was a tasteful. They have seating outside and inside. I was definitely satisfied with the amount of food I was given for the price. Looking forward to my next time back. They accept Zelle, Venmo and cash as form of payment. read more

This place has been opened for about two weeks, however this guy has been in business for some time now. This is a family owned business. came in today and the staff was so kind! the food was phenomenal and balanced perfectly. it's is a far drive from my home but i would absolutely take the trip again because it was so good. The store is so cute and it felt clean. food came out quickly and tasted so so yummy. you can tell a lot of work was put into this restaurant because it is so well thought out. the food tastes fresh and loving. 10/10 would recommend coming! it is one of my new favorite places in San Diego and is worth the drive. read more

Amazing place! Found it randomly driving around and Omg! "El negro" I think is the name of the ceviche and is out of this world. My wife got the vegetarian ceviche with enamorada sauce and she felt in love! Literally! lol! The gentleman that helped me was very nice. I think he is the owner. Top notch costumer service! I love this place so much! Everything is so bomb. My favorite is the El Verde which is your more traditional aquachiles and my husbands favorite is the el Prieto, which features a black sauce that is full of a flavor so unique! I've never had anything like it. We prefer the raw shrimp but you can order cooked if you like. I love adding the green creamy sauce on top of each bite for even more flavor! This is definitely my favorite birria spot they got it all, I used to order food when this restaurant was operating at their first location. Awesome authentic Mexican food with an Asian twist. Shrimp tacos are delicious and the quesotaco with shredded beef is the best taco I've had in a long time. I decided to come by for birthday dinner and figured 8pm was a decent time to still get great food and service. We made a reservation in advance and got to a table in 5 minutes. That's wonderful, always love that for anyone. The non-alcoholic drinks are always a favorite as someone who's been sober for years. However, it all got much more complicated after that. After not hearing or getting any updates from the server for 50 mins on our appetizer, we asked if everything was ok and if they had potentially forgot about our order. It's happened before no worries. The server said no and it just takes a while. That's fine and fair, it's to be expected on a skeleton crew for a Wednesday night shift. It was odd to see at least 4 tables and groups who had been seated after us get their food before us. When we got our Doom Bloom, around 8:55pm, over 50% of it was burnt to a crisp, the smaller mushrooms had been completely blackened to a point where you could just taste charred. Something tells me this is not the best way to serve food to others but what do I know as someone who's been coming here for years. When we got our Mind Melt and BBQ Jackfruit, which was another 50 minutes later now around 9:40pm, these entrees had met the same fate. The BBQ Jackfruit sourdough was so dry and burnt it tasted like a saltine cracker left in a campfire as a joke. The fries were overcooked, super dry, and stale all at the same time. It's like it was left in the heat lamp for 30 minutes or far too long to be enjoyed for what would be great food. My partners food thankfully wasn't to the same degree as mine but still not great. We were checking with ourselves quietly to make sure the other wasn't loosing it or if we were missing out on something. People will be people and that will never change. I hope some else won't have to spend over $100 with tip included to get the same service we got. I cannot imagine how bad things are behind the scenes for this to be a standard the staff are okay with and that they perpetuate based off other recent reviews in this matter. It was embarrassing and a waste of money. I do not recommend coming here given how this situation has transpired. My stomach still hurts while typing this review on my sofa at home.

When I got into the "lot," I had to flag down a couple of valets to ask if they had any open spots. One of them told me to circle back around AGAIN to get an open spot. I decided to heck with that and just pulled into a parking garage on Ash St. just 50 yards away from the restaurant. Once inside, we were able to get into a private dining area for my mom's party. The eating space was nice and spacious, acommodating for our party of at least 20 people. The restaurant is also very nice and clean. The entrees and appetizers did seem like standard wedding fare, though. I ordered the braised shortrib, and while it was good, I couldn't escape the impression that it was something that one would normally eat at a wedding reception. The beef was soft and tender, the mashed potatoes creamy, and the carrots were cooked very well. I enjoyed the strawberry lemonade cocktail and appreciated that they reduced the vodka content so that I wouldn't get so buzzed from one drink. Eventually, I had to order a regular lemonade though, which I did enjoy. It was sweet and not overly sour. Also one point in their favor was the clam chowder starter course. That also had a little sweet flavor to it, which was definitely preferable to having an overly salty taste. The bits of bacon in the chowder helped to cut down the sweetness. The desserts were pretty standard fare. I liked the chocolate brownie more than the raspberry cheesecake. I will also note that the two servers we had for the dinner party were terrific. It couldn't have been easy to handle that kind of workload but they looked like they've been doing this kind of thing before.

We had a really disappointing experience here. The staff never greeted or acknowledged us when we arrived, which already set the wrong tone. Service felt unfriendly and inattentive throughout.
