The place is huge, inside and (strangely) outside as well. Since they are on the highway, the noise and exhaust fumes from heavy traffic do not bode well for alfresco dining. Inside, it's a bit of an airplane hangar with soaring ceilings and exposed pipes. The scale of the room and the large number of small tables are not conducive to a comfortable experience. There's not much here to make a diner want to hang out for long. Our table had not been cleaned off for the two of us. We had to brush the crumbs off the table ourselves. There were perhaps seven or eight tables with customers and three of four employees visible. I guess customers are expected to clean up after themselves. On to the service. An extroverted young man dressed in black with a gold chain around his neck basically ignored us after we were seated, for rather a long time- 15 minutes or so. Some drinks would have been nice. Finally we ordered: one pizza and two Diet Pepsis. Time went very slowly, slowly enough that we noticed that NOBODY was eating. Yes, all seven tables had no food, no pizzas flying out of ovens to hungry diners. Finally, a pizza was delivered but not to us. We had to wait for another interminable 25 minutes for ours. Since this was 1:00 on a Tuesday, with hardly anyone there, I wonder what things are like at night with larger, and more demanding crowds. Almost an hour waiting for a pizza and soft drinks? Nope The food? It's fine. A nice pizza with a nice crust. Is the experience worth it? Not really. There are other restaurants with nice pizza that offer a more pleasant meal. read more

I'm giving this a solid 4, it's probably actually a 4-1/2. The beer was fine, not the best IPA we've had but definitely serviceable. The facility is beautiful with a ton of outdoor, dog friendly seating, which was important since we were traveling and had our German shepherd. They were very friendly with us and her, it's always nice when restaurants are welcoming to well behaved dogs. The pizza was really good, especially the crust. One small quibble - the rim was at least 2" around the perimeter, maybe even 2-1/2" in spots. With nothing on the rim, all the sauce, cheese, and pepperoni was in the very middle with a lot of plain crust around the edges. I did order the pizza with extra sauce on it and in the center part it was fine. What I should have asked for was extra sauce on the side so I could spread it around on the dry parts of the crust. Still, a very tasty pizza that we would be ordering regularly if we were locals. We also tried the Peach and Blue appetizer, gorgonzola cheese melted with peach pepper preserves topped with prosciutto. It was fantastic, totally decadent and yummy. It's a nice looking place, but I like really hoppy ipa's and you won't find that here. I wish they carried more choices from other breweries. I also did not see a vegetarian pizza on the menu nor a gluten free option which are both a must for my family. It's a new business so they might need some more time with adjusting the menu. Finally a great New York Style pizza in our area. My daughter and I had the cheese pizza and wings. The pizza was amazing - highest quality ingredients and baked to perfection. I would have given the review \right away, but my car got rear ended on the way home and looks like it was totaled. First time at this establisment. I ordered the canadian bacon pizza n cesar salad. The pizza crust was very thing and only one piece of canadian bacon and 2 pieces of pinapple per slice . Did not taste good At all. The salad was welted and didnt taste fresh or like cesar salad ! Very over priced. We wont be coming back. read more

I was so excited for this place to open but after three visits, I would say it's disappointing. The service, for such a simple concept, is very slow (you will stand in line quite a while, even if there are only 3 people ahead of you). It's also a little confusing, do I stand in line for food and then stand in another line for beer? What's happening with the tables? I've been there 3 times and each time the beer line took a long time and the staff seemed overwhelmed to be pouring a lot of beers for different orders and also taking your order and ringing you up. Maybe a person for money and a person pouring would be better? Either way it was a bummer to leave my friends to stand in line for another 20 minutes to get another beer from staff who are working hard but not particularly friendly or welcoming. I thought the pizza was tasty but overpriced and beer was pretty good but the options were very limited if you want something else. I want them to succeed but it would take some careful listening to sort out the kinks that make beer sales inefficient and cause people to quietly not come back. read more

We are here w few weeks ago. We pre ordered the Greek pizza and then decided to eat in and enjoy a beer with pizza. We were greeted by about 6 young hostesses walking in which was a little much haha. They did accomodate our spontaneous decision to eat in . Our waitress was pretty attentive but service dropped.of a little half way through our meal as she got busy with other tables. Beer on draft was amazing, and our pizza tasted amazing but was pretty small portion.for $23. The housemade sourdough crust was special and good but not enough to make up for the small portions at that price point. One single slice of pizza at martoliis is Ashland is the same size as fire and ferments' half a pizza @$23. The topping flavors were sophisticated but sparse and left you wanting more toppings. I had heard the first openings left most customers not impressed. The wait staff takes orders from the tables which alleviated a lot of the previous complaints about huge wait lines to order and huge wait times. I'm not sure how they do with on site dining but their service for take out orders is the worst I've ever encountered. My wife received a text message that our order was ready. I went into the restaurant to pay and pick it up. I stood at the cash register for ten minutes while four employees kept walking by me doing other things before someone took our payment. I was finally able to pay only to be told our order was not ready yet. Now, another twenty minutes have gone by and no site of our order yet. That means it's now been more than 35 minutes since we were told our order was ready. No apologies from anyone. No offers of even a glass of water while my grandson and I continue to wait. read more

Fun restaurant with a nice atmosphere. We ordered the White Pie on cauliflower crust and it was delicious! My husband is a fan of all the beer options and the service was good and the staff are knowledgeable. The only con we had is that we sat at the bar not knowing this is where their dish pit is located. It wasn't super appetizing to have crumbs flying, or to watch all the food, drinks and buckets full of liquid being dumped directly in front of you while eating. Stumbled upon Ferment & Fire during our quick trip to Medford and this felt like such a hidden gem! It was so clean, the food and drinks were delicious, and the incredibly friendly staff went above and beyond to help us. Love the open concept inside and would be a great place to watch sports with all the TVs and good drinks. The outside was so nice and would be good for a big group! You order and pay at the counter, which is really great for birthday dinners or group hang outs. We loved it! read more

I was really excited to try this but left somewhat disappointed. First you're supposed to pick a table but there is no sign saying this (that I saw), just signs for where to order. So when you order they ask the number of your table, and we gave a number and then someone sat at that table, so we had to find another. My friend and I both got the pink lemonade hard seltzer and while I expect seltzer to not have a ton of flavor, it really had none, just a slight sweetness it seemed like. The pizza came and looked great. However the toppings weren't as much as I would have expected to be on it. We got the potato pizza, which is supposed to have chili oil, but there was zero chili flavor nor hint of spice or kick. It also had garlic sauce and I only tasted a bit of garlic. There wasn't a much cheese on it either. The flavor was just lacking to me. The crust was delicious though. It came with ranch without asking, and the lady who brought it out was very nice.
