Short version: I felt like family here and will take my cars to Fernando's for smog checks every time the DMV tags me in the future. I hope to see you there! Longer version: I needed a smog check in a hurry once I found my registration renewal paperwork in a pile of paperwork to go through. Oops. I stopped a couple of places and called a couple more and it seems like everybody in Santa Barbara county was getting their cars smogged from Buellton down to Goleta. Timing, right? I called Fernando's and was told to come on over and that he could fit me in right away. I expected that this would mean a reasonable wait while he finished working on somebody else's car but nobody else was waiting (the others were drop-offs) so he moved a car out of the bay to make room for mine and my car was being smogged a couple of minutes after I dropped it off. I enjoyed a complimentary bottle of water while I waited and before I had a chance to settle in and check email on my phone, the smog check was done and it was ready for me. All the while I was treated like a valued family member rather than a customer and that friendly atmosphere really won me over. In addition to the quick and incredibly courteous service, I appreciate the attention to detail. When I arrived, I was offered a bottle of cold water while I waited. When he finished, he pulled my car around and backed it in so it was ready for me to just jump in and go after I paid. I figure if he's going to pay that much attention to detail with me and making sure that I had the best experience possible, he's going to treat my car right, too.
