Friendly staff and diverse selection of beers! Between IPAs, stouts, sours, goses, and lagers, there's something for everyone at Ferndale Project. I like that they'll bring in beers from their sister brewery, Eastern Market Brewing Co. so I can get some of my favorites from the Detroit location. The food menu is limited at this time, but everything we had tasted great. I could have ate two of their "Chick-fil-gay" sandwiches on special with honey bbq sauce. The fries were seasoned well with and had the perfect amount of crispness. I was ve try impressed with the salad- the sliced tomatoes in the salad were MASSIVE and juicy! Parking on the street was a breeze, but in the event you can't find a space there is a lot near by. For Covid-19, the staff issues table markers to ensure previously occupied tables are sanitized, and they ask that guests buss their own tables for the time being. read more

The only thing going for it is the outdoor patio. I have been there twice in the last two months on a Wednesday night, and a Friday afternoon, and had to wait 70 minutes, each time, for a burger and fries. There were no more than 30 customers both times. The fries were soggy and cold, and I noticed that they fry up a big batch and put them in a large bowl, no where near any heat lamp. So, by the time I got my serving, they had been sitting in the cold for at least 30 minutes. the beer list is very limited, and they did not even have all of what is on the menu. It is a great place to sit outside and have a beer, if you like the few options they have, but do not bother to go for the food. It is not worth the wait or the cost. read more

We met some friends here on Halloween. They have been coming here for years, but it was our first time. Lots of clean, outdoor seating with heat lamps and space for children to run around and draw with sidewalk chalk. We ordered French toast and a breakfast burrito -- both of which had all the fixings and were amazing. I only wish we had ordered more food because it was so good and we were splitting them. Later, we ordered something special that day, the mystery beer sampler. They had lots of interesting flavors that I think will satisfy the beer lover in your life. As a novice beer drinker, it was fun to discuss the beers -- my wife identified all six of them correctly! Still, they had plenty of candy ready for all of us. read more

Came to what I thought was a dog friendly brewery with my blue heeler. Beautiful afternoon, first legit day of spring, huzzah. Granted my dog is a handful, but i went to order at a side window, the server there did let me order but had significant attitude about it because it was past 4pm and they usually don't take orders there. Still tipped him well since it allowed me to forgo going inside to order with my somewhat reactive dog (who I have on a tight fixed leash by my side). I asked if someone would bring the food out because of the dog and he said no I'd have to come in and get the food myself and slams the window shut. Fine, no big deal. Thought the kid might appreciate the tip but no huge deal. My salmon burger is ready and come inside to get it with my Heeler at my side. A guy handing the food to me gives me flack for bringing the dog inside, but that's what i was instructed to do by the kid with attitude. Salmon sandwich was meh. read more

I came here last Saturday with 1 other person and we sat outside at one of the tables under an umbrella. I ordered their blue slush to start and the chips and salsa. I picked the sweet and spicy salsa which tasted really sweet and strongly of cinnamon. I didn't really think it was spicy and it's not that I'm a person that has a high tolerance for spice. Also note that the chips are actually tostadas. I ordered the brisket torta and this really should not be called a torta and should be called a sandwich instead. Think of a brisket sandwhich that you would get at a BBQ joint without the BBQ sauce. I understand that they offer a Latin American street food-inspired menu, but just because you put beans on a hamburger bun doesn't make it a torta. I think my disappointment came more from expecting one thing and getting another. The brisket sandwhich was OK. According to the menu it had salsa macha, refried beans, avocado, cabbage, and tomatoes however, I really only tasted the brisket with the refried beans and of course you could see the cabbage. I'll stick to the torta at Owl on Woodward in Royal Oak. I was also disappointed that the person who took our order did not ask us if we were sure if we wanted the chips and salsa because apparently the tortas already came with chips and salsa. I understand that we also didn't realize this so we are also to blame by not paying closer attention to the menu, but it would have been nice for him to suggest ordering guacamole or substituting the chips and salsa that came with the torta for homefries or a peruvian or farro salad. To finish I ordered the Cherry A La Mode sour which was good. read more

It's a nice place to hang out with friendly service. Beer list is not too short, but they serve mostly all IPAs every time I'm there, meaning options are limited if you don't like that type of beer. Not a good place for dark beer lovers like me. Not bad but not great! I will probably go back because it's close to home and I did enjoy the food and beer. The smash burger was flavorful but a little skimpy and sloppy. The beers were all delicious and well crafted. But, the choices were all high gravity specialty beers. DRIPAs and other hoppy choices mostly. I would like to have had a pale ale or brown ale or even a regular IPA. I did get the white coffee beer and loved it and I don't typically go for beers with adjuncts. I'm a huge fan of EMBC so I was super excited to hear that they were opening Ferndale Project. I went for the grand opening and have been back three times, it's that good! Been seeing there beers pop up more and more and we love Eastern Market Brewing so we made it a point to stop in and check out the Ferndale Project. Amazing beers, i came for the fruited beers but honestly the IPA's really blew me away, some of the best IPAs i have had in a long time. Really nice patio set up for drinking outside, and dog friendly which was a plus. They have a limited menu but didnt try any of the food. Service was really great, answered all our questions and super friendly. read more

Very good beers! We liked axle, but I don't think their beers were nearly as good as now! Love the variety and flavors. The service was great, everyone was accommodating and friendly. They had a small dance floor where a dj was spinning some tracks (but might have just been for opening weekend). The beers are a bit pricey, but you really do get what you pay for with these beers. My husband and I popped in and was pleasantly surprised to see Gluten free and vegan/veg options! We landed on two ciders - a coffee and a dry heritage cider along with a shareable deviled eggs (fried panko and delicious salad yumm) and the most amazing gf cookies ever - salted chocolate chip cookies. Literally want to come back every day for those cookies. Heavenly! Cool vibe, can't wait for it to warm up and experience their outdoor area. read more

For beer and an outdoor summer hang - this place is great. Good beer and good non beer options, and good bar food. For coffee - I would pass. Every time I have been here for coffee, I was disappointed. There is no decaf coffee and no non-caffeine options at all. Even if you do drink coffee, which I do - the coffee is quite mediocre. I ordered an iced latte and it was served in a paper cup, like the ones used for hot drinks. The ice melted through the cup very quickly, making it difficult to enjoy the drink. It just seems like coffee is not their specialty, which is fine, I will just plan to return for beer. read more

The beer is just flat out amazing. Juicy hazy IPAs, multiple interesting sours, and even some really unique cider options. Oh, and the food is great. A little late but went this past weekend and we came kind of early so there wasn't too many in line. I had the breakfast burrito and my girlfriend had a bagel breakfast sandwich with avocado. My burrito was really good but my girlfriend said the bagel a little dry, really good but a tad dry. We also got a gingerbread oat milk latte and a honey cinnamon oat milk latte, both were good but I think I like the gingerbread a little better, the honey cinnamon mon would be a good alternative for someone who wants some flavor without the sweetness. It had just rained so they took care to come outside and turn the heater on for us and wiped down the seats so we were super comfortable. When we were all done we got a couple rounds of drinks. My girlfriend had the caramel apple pie sour and I tried the peach Bellini and the mangonada bamboozie (idk if that's how you spell it) but all really good! read more

My husband and I miss trying out new craft beers at breweries during the COVID 19 pandemic. I'm not sure how we came upon this place but we picked out a few beers and they delivered it WITHIN AN HOUR. This is not only amazing, but we live about 30 minutes away! We got 4 different beers, we rated all of them above 4 on untappd app. And I'm not just saying we will order from this place again, because we literally just did and we have a few more new beers coming in the next hour or so! I have had amazing smash burgers here but tonight I tried their jalapeño pretzel burger and the patty was a dried out flattened pancake and didn't really taste like beef. Seemed pre-packaged. Definitely not the same beef I had here over the summer. I had a burger at McDonald's yesterday that was better than the one today, whereas previous burgers I've had here were amongst the greatest of burgers. read more

I do love this place, and while I do appreciate the variety, it would be nice to have some consistency. Some great staples, even if seasonal, you know you can count on. Absolutely loved the banana crème from last year (hands down best sour ale I've ever ver had and I've had a lot!!) but haven't seen it at all this year. And then it seems soon as I learn of one that's good it's gone as fast and not coming back. Meanwhile the "coconut ube" "blonde ale" might be the most vile beers I've ever tasted. I don't even want to say what it reminds me of but it's not pleasant. Which kind of reminds me of the super weird sweet potato pie al a mode sour they had this past winter. That was WEIRD tasting. How some of these flavors pass quality check enough to be produced while others aren't produced again I'll never understand. The Ferndale Project is a new gem! During the quarantine we decided to try their pizza and we were not disappointed! Great pizza so good we got it again the next day. They change the special pizza ever few days so we ordered the Greek like pizza beets, lamb, olives, feta and so on. Staff was friendly for picking up curbside. We also bought a cookie and cookie ice cream sandwich which were vegan and delicious. Next we want to try the vegan pizza. read more

We were greeted rather coldly by the staff who just looked irritated with our presence.

Went there because they have exclusively patio dining, and was pleasantly surprised with their safety measures during the pandemic! Seat yourself on the patio, all staff were wearing a mask and changing gloves at all appropriate points, in addition to that you're able to scan a QR code to bring up the menu and order from your table, paying online. If you want a beer, they offer canned beers, and you go to the service table to order. Everything is really well done with social distancing, and I felt totally safe and protected. Tried the smash burger and was SO impressed. Their fries and burger were outstanding! Everything is served with disposable plastic ware, and when you ask for water there's plastic cups provided. In addition to that, there's an area to recycle everything so it doesn't feel so wasteful. I'll definitely be back! Super appreciative of the measures they're taking while still providing excellent food and drink options! read more

First time visiting ferndale project today! It was easy to navigate and loved the outdoor seating situation. Especially because once it started raining there were plenty of covered outside areas to accommodate everyone safely and separately. The service was a mix of do it yourself on your phone, and when you just can't phone any/no more the servers filled in every gap. My server was so kind and even ran out my beer in the rain!! I wasn't sure how to directly tip her/them more, which I regret not asking about because I should have. The food came out super quick (like under 10 min?) and was really good even while they seemed to me to be pretty busy. When I said whoa, that was quick, the person that delivered our food literally said we're not that busy, so we should be getting your food out quick. I personally thought given the situation, this staff is really on point. I had and recommend the cherry pineapple marmalade sour beer and the sweet potato tacos. Both were outstanding and my favorites from what I tried. read more

Don't get me wrong love ferndale project so much! Neighborhood joint that we can walk to! But there's a reason it gets 4 stars. The previous food menu would have warranted 5 stars with their amazing burger which was under 10$ (and came with fries) and their fries were out of this world. Most often came for beer and fries. But with this new menu change has me a bit sad. Ordered the burger which is now 13$ and has Mexican twist with Oaxaca cheese and avo and let me tell you no shortage of spicy. It was honestly an unenjoyable experience eating all that spice and no warning of how spicy it was going to be. Also upgraded 2$ for potatoes expecting fries and they were home fries.... Major bummer. The burger itself was so good but wayyy spicy. Still 4 stars because will always come back but disappointed with the direction the menu took. Stopped in for the first time this past Sunday to grab a beer and check the place out. The food looked so good that we decided to stay for dinner, and we certainly weren't disappointed! As vegetarians, we're used to having the same 3 or 4 boring options, but Ferndale Project really changes the game on brewery/bar food. We tried the Vada Pav Sliders and the Nashville Hot Tofu Sammy--both were so delicious and beyond flavorful! My wife normally insists on smothering her food in hot sauce, but she immediately commented on how shocked she was that she felt no need to do so with these dishes. We meant to upgrade one meal from the pita chips to fries, but we forgot, so I can't speak to those, but I will say that we were not at all sad about having extra pita chips, delish!! As for the beer, we tried 2 sours, a wheat, and and ipa--all were tasty and pretty spot-on to the description on the tap list. I'm a fairly die-hard IPA fan but was trying to go for something a little different, but we'll definitely be back soon to check out more options!! read more

Same great Axle location and atmosphere, big step backward in beer. Unique EMBC flavor comes though to a greater or lesser extent in all the beers, with an unpleasant dry/funky finish. Really glad to see the taproom open again but hopeful the Ferndale Project doesn't become EMBC North - another outstanding location with strange subpar beer. What can I say about this place with out a potential defamation lawsuit... the food ordering/menu only works through certain browsers and is very uninformative. The water is self serve only from plastic cups and they only have alcohol, well they do try to pawn off unsweetened molasses water as "root beer" but to call it root beer would be disrespectful. When I asked if they had anything other than beer the tender responded with an attitude saying "uhm, this is a brewery sooo." But they sell fucking bagels..... I've been to the Ferndale Project three times already since it opened and love it! The beer selection is large and delicious. I love sours and they have a ton of awesome options, the Raspberry Gose is my favorite, so sour and fruity! If sours aren't your thing, there are a lot of options including ciders and great IPAs (also if you loved Cellarmen's like I did, their cider is making appearance there as well)! The atmosphere is airy and cute, the patio is going to awesome in the summer. The food menu is very small but has a lot of vegan/vegetarian options that are interesting. I tried the vegan shawarma, vegan vada pav sliders, jumbo pretzel and the caesar salad. The shawarma wasn't my favorite but the sliders were super flavorful and tangy and the caesar salad was unique (the cornbread croutons and roasted corn are delish)! The jumbo pretzel was very jumbo and very good as well. Overall an awesome brewery and I'm excited to make it one of my regular bar stops! read more
