95% of my Yelp Reviews are Highly Favorable. Drive past Ferny's several times a day, but never stopped in. Read Reviews and was excited to finally try it at 7PM Tues 12/17. Entered and as I was giving my order, several large & small parties got in line behind me. I felt good about my decision to come here. Ordered 2 beef enchiladas, 2 chicken enchiladas & carne asada burrito. After 15 minutes I inquired & told gal 2 other parties behind me were already eating at their tables. A few other tables were served, then I received mine after 20+ minutes to take home. Beef enchiladas were HUGE. However, the sauce was so so salty, I added sour cream from my fridge. That didn't dilute it, so i just scraped all sauce off it & ate it plain. Chicken enchiladas had zero chicken. Maybe I received cheese enchiladas by accident? Same salty sauce, had to scrape it down the sink. Carne asada was terrible & didn't smell right. I tossed the 2nd half. 3 hours later; I have worst diarrhea ever! Stomach pains & food poisoning symptoms all the next day. $27.00 for this? Long wait, poor service, very bad food & high prices. I cannot give more than 1 star - sorry. read more

Wow!!! We were told to try the Carne Asada Curly Fries. I ordered the small and felt I got a LARGE. We love the curly fries. My wife felt the rolled tacos were made fresh and we were surprised with the delicious Red Hot Cheeto Burrito. Even the salsa bar carrots were delicious. We look forward to coming back and will tell all our friends about this place. read more

Came around 11:30 on a Wednesday and ordered a California burrito to go. It took about 12 minutes, with two people ahead of me in line, which isn't too bad. I was disappointed that the burrito itself had no guacamole or salsa Fresca on it. The quality was good, the burrito just tasted really dry even with hot sauce from the salsa bar. If you are just looking for a quick stop decent taco shop then this place does the job. Definitely not the best quality taco shop but is average for a quick bite. Originally came here for breakfast burritos.. which I did order 2 of.. but also ordered a large asada curly fries and a good ole' asada burrito. The fries were so bomb and it had nacho cheese.. not shredded cheese!!! .. and the fact that I had it at 10am was even better!! The SIL (sis in law) ordered breakfast fries.. which were also very delicious.. it had this chipotle cream on it along with eggs and chorizo. YUMMM!! I have tried every taco shop in santee and finally I have found one that I can call my own. My kids love the kids me. They eat every bite of their food. The hubby has had the ferny fries and the surf and turf burrito and gave both "two thumbs up." I have the chicken chipotle burrito...SPICY AND YUMMY! They have a very unique menu. First time here in Santee and looking for something gluten-free (all there is in this town are sandwich shops), I found this place to be delicious! I just back from lunch from Ferny's and wow, it was delicious. I had a two shredded beef taco combo and it was awesome. Delicious crispy shells, tender and juicy shredded beef, and plenty of cheese. The rice was perfectly cooked and flavorful and the beans were oh so good. The salsa bar is great. I normally like spicy salsa, but their mild salsa is so flavorful...I couldn't stop pouring it over everything. Seriously, I could drink the stuff. Easily the best shredded beef tacos and salsa in town. The girl working the counter was very nice too, which is an added bonus. I'll be back again and again! Thanks, Ferny's. read more

You have to go here and try the HLS. I stands for Heaven, Land and Sea. It is a Carne Asada, Chicken and Shrimp Burrito with a chipotle cream sauce. There really isn't a better burrito anywhere. They also have other good stuff, but this burrito is a must if you have not been here before. They have plenty of dining space. Typical taco shop atmosphere. Not a place for a first date, but really good food. read more

Taco shops can be a dime a dozen and have to make an effort to stand out. I work nearby and have driven by a bunch of times but never eaten there until recently. The place isn't much to look at from the outside, but the food is Delcious!! I'm so glad I finally stopped in. I went there twice in one week! Both times I had the Carnitas burrito. Once I placed an order online and once I walked up to the window. Both times, the food was ready in minutes. The prices are really good and the food is hot, fresh and Very delicious! Stopped by for the first time a week or so ago after passing it by many times both literally and on Yelp. I was very happy with my choice. I had the Buffalo chicken fries and also got a Carne asada burrito for later. I wasn't disappointed with either. The burrito was much better than the newly opened Santanas down the street. The works burrito was overall pretty good I would give a 7/10. I did not like that the beans were canned it brought down the overall flavor of the burrito. The meat was delicious and the price for a burrito with rice and beans was pretty good. My friend gives the burrito a 9/10 and she did not like the dispersement of ingredients. read more

Meh....Pollo burrito was not good. Couldn't even discern whether it was chicken or ??? Your menu needs to reflect the fact that potatoes inside a burrito mean french fries. Not everyone wants fries in their burrito; as I was actually expecting normal cooked potatoes. Guacamole was not true; rather a mix of ingredients to simply make more. Tip: How about just using pure avocados and less fluff! Tortilla chips tasted burned and the cinnamon chips tasted like old bitter oil. This simply tells me that the restaurant is not changing their oil; which in turn is harmful to your patrons health...WTF! I was told this place was great, but sadly will not return. Those that think otherwise simply do not know what quality food is. Also the rolled tacos were gross as well; and BTW they are not available in chicken. read more

I called Fernys for take out today for my son and I. My son got crispy buffalo chicken fries which were loaded and I originally wanted the sultan but was also craving gyro meat! Didn't want gyro fries and wanted a burrito so Carlos said he could put the gyro fries in a burrito for me.... turns out that was the best burrito of any kind I have ever had!!!! I love this place, it is my go to if I'm Mexi- food. I was in there waiting for my machaca burrito this morning & I was talking to Natalie in the front. Usually the girls up front are very friendly, so that's a plus (: I also like their Cali burritos which they have substituted the potatoes in it for fries which I prefer. Well I have to say hands down if you want fast fresh on the go hole in the wall GOOD OL Yummiest in your tummy then go here.. The California burrito is to gravel for its that good.
