I'm really confused how this place has 4 stars on Yelp. Naperville is better than this, and the people of Naperville should have higher standards than this. I've passed this place about 1,000 times so decided to give it a try. Heard from 2 trusted individuals it's not good but still wanted to try it out. There were 2 of us, we each ordered a beer, and 2 total appetizers. This is our second experience in Naperville ordering our drinks and appetizers at the same time and getting the appetizers served well before the drinks. I blame our waiter for this, he seemed to be in a fog. Next star removed because the calamari is served as a salad. I'm sure this is just to fill the plate with greenery. No one wants their calamari to be in a salad. Next star removed because the burrata was served cold and the red sauce or whatever it was tasted like it came from a can. The 4th star removed because of the bill. Someone please explain to me how the staff has earned a 20% tip on the amount I was taxed? Hard pass on this place. read more

Not the best Italian food you can get in Naperville but definitely not the worst. We ordered the calamari and it was OK. The spicy pasta was good but not the best you can get in Naperville. I went with family to Fiammé. My granddaughters love wood fire pizza. The restaurant is nicely decorated and a lovely outdoor setting for better weather. Today it's very cold! The we were seated quickly and given menus and the waitress was prompt with our menus and drinks. We were there on a Friday early evening so not busy yet. We ordered a classic Cesar salad for the table and given Italian bread. Standard salad, it was good. I ordered the blackened Salmon Carbizzatto with rigatoni in a cream sauce. It was very good. I could have used more sauce to enhance the flavor of the salmon which was cooked perfect. My husband and our son ordered the Detroit style pizzas, which is a pan pizza with cheese crusts. My husband ordered The Mootz; My son had the Sicilian. Both liked their pizzas. The girls ordered traditional wood fire pizzas with a thin crust. Everyone enjoyed their meal. So I find the restaurant and I thought they would have their parking lot or space. Which when your passing by it says "take a left on Franklin to join us for dining" so I did only to find out that way is the way to the pick up line and well I sat behind the restaurant for 10 mins because you cannot reverse. It was very frustrating and now where does it say it's only a "pick up lane" when entering. Thankfully I find close enough parking in a garage nearby. I sit down, and we start off with calamari which comes with no lemon wedges or marinara sauce. But it does come with tomato's and tons of arugula on it... we asked our server for lemon wedges and marinara sauce which she was nice enough to give us. Got a funghi pizza without basil and a quattro formaggi pizza (this one is a white pizza - no tomato sauce) to go. The pizzas took up most of a 12-inch box - larger than they look in the online photos - and were cut into 8 slices. Both were beautiful and very tasty, with a good amount of cheese and a slightly charred crust that had a terrific texture - chewy but not doughy or too poofy along the circumference, and thin elsewhere. The mushrooms may have been lightly roasted and were plentiful and flavorful. Mushrooms edge out pepperoni as my favorite pizza topping; that said, I'll add a bit of pepperoni to a couple of slices to have the combo experience. The quattro formaggi had a nutty and slightly sharp flavor, and plenty of cheese; the provolone and parmiggiano seem to dominate the cheese mixture. I've had a similar flavor on other pizzas; while I'm usually looking for the cheese to be all mozzarella or a predominantly mozzarella mixture - for the flavor and the gooeyness - I like the flavor of the Fiamme mix every now and then. I'll add dried red pepper flakes to a couple of slices, and portabella mushroom to another couple of slices, but this is a pizza best enjoyed without toppings since the cheese has such flavor on its own. Next time - classic margherita pizza (also best without further toppings) and salsiccia (gonna have to add some mushrooms to this one). read more

The dough, sauce, and ingredients all come together in beautiful harmony in that magical brick wood fired oven. You need to dine in, not take out or delivery, in order to experience this kind of magic. The montanara came out beautifully with a crispy fried exterior but a sweet, soft pillowy interior. The right amount of sauce and cheese and it just sings. The rigatoni and ravioli were good but we're outshone by the pizza. The Detroit Americana pizza lacked the richness of flavors only over-showed by the sparseness and oddity of toppings. Service. If only I could give a -5... The introduction, looking for the entrance, I opened the door for my family. A blonde male waiter pushed them out of the way to run through. Not even a thank you or an acknowledgment that we're customers. I went out to call my family and the same waiter just breezed through without even a word. If that wasn't bad enough, the busboy knocked my daughter down while trying to get through. He at least said sorry, which made it ok, having the level of the previous experience. The table was odd in that no one thought the bench should be lower than the table. That made a very uncomfortable dinner. I will say however that there was a young waitress that seemed awesome to her customers. Just wish she was ours. To add insult to injury I get the bill and noticed the over priced meal comes with an insulting 4% service fee. My advice? We immediately ordered our drinks, appetizer and food since we we're waiting so long. Not to happy about the long wait. We received our drinks about another 10 minutes and then about another 30 minutes our appetizer followed by another 18 minutes for our food. So from the time we arrived until our meal was served it was over 1 hour and 15 minutes. To me this is not except-able. On another note the Mexican Mule was actually pretty good. The fried Calamari was excellent except they do not serve it with any dipping sauce. Very disappointing. I had the spaghetti and meat balls. Not good at all. Noodles were cooked good but they give you very little sauce. The sauce does not have any flavor and the meatballs were raw. The entire plate did not have any flavor. The Salmon Carbonizatto plate was decent. We wanted to try the desert but were afraid we were going to be sitting another 30 minutes before we would receive. We are very disappointed with this places service, and food. If they keep this up when Gia Mia opens up down the street they will loose a lot of business. Had dinner here last night. I have been wanting to go for over a year but never had the chance until now and really like GIA MIA , so havent been real motivation to try. Our server whom was just average was a nice young lady. We ordered wine and she brought over the pre-opened bottle and placed it on the table with spotted wine glasses. Although my food and my mothers food was great, my wife has celiac and NEEDS to eat gluten-free. This place says a lot of items are gluten-free, which is why we decided to eat there. The bill for two appetizers, three meals, three desserts, two coffees, two alcoholic drinks and one sprite was over $180.00 and that is not including the tip. As you can tell from the one star, DO NOT EAT HERE if you have a gluten sensitivities or especially if you have celiac. It's not fun dealing with a sick wife for hours over it. Yum, awesome pizza! My sister and I have been past this place a bunch of times and we always say we will go when I'm in town and today we finally did! I got a peach cider to start and it was refreshing, definitely very peachy. For my pizza I got the Regina margherita, there were a few too many tomatoes on top but otherwise it was delicious, the crust was the best! My sister got a vegan spinach artichoke pizza and it was delicious too! My parents shared a pizza with goat cheese and asked for gluten free but they accidentally gave her crust with gluten. Fiamme was on our list for a long time! We finally had the opportunity to go for a Sunday lunch with a couple of friends. The outdoor hut was reserved in advance, and was well-worth it for our small party of 4. It was cozy and heated, and our server was mindful to not keep the door open too long or enter/leave frequently so as to keep the heat in on the chill day. I had a take out order, the order was for a pizza, the wait time was reasonable and the pizza delicious.

The ambiance of this place really shines, which is more so in the exterior of the restaurant than the interior which itself if somewhat limited. When the full exterior of the restaurant is operating they have these very unique individual booths for an intimate experience. Decent cocktails and wine abound at the bar, but don't go expecting a rather huge beer list as they are only limited to a few craft cans and bottles besides Italian imports. Food wise the salads were quite tasty, anything with arugula is a solid choice. Pizza wise I would suggest the Detroit-style leaps and bounds over the traditional Neapolitan. The former has a well balanced chewy crust to ingredients and a delicious sauced perimeter. The Neapolitan had a soggy center and was rather disappointing with a lacking ingredients. Beware that being primarily a pizza joint, albeit elevated, families flock to this place with noisy kids. I would suggest if out for an adult meal, show up after 7:30PM. read more

We visited Fiamme on Friday 9/17/21 Our reservation was for 8:30pm, we had made a reservation via the phone a few days prior. I specifically asked to be seated outside in a Cabana for 4 people to celebrate my birthday. This isn't our first time visiting Fiamme, we have had dinner in the past, in the Igloos and outside. We live down the street on Franklin and pass Fiamme daily, always appreciating the beauty of the restaurant & how cautious Fiamme has been throughout this pandemic. This past experience was extremely opposite to what we were used to... 1. Arrived at 8:20 Our reservation was at 8:30 Hostess told us, there was ONLY indoor dining available & that there wasnt any notes of us wanting a Cabana outside. 2. After 15 minutes of complaining and soaking with 3 different hostess we finally get a Cabana outside (closest to Washington) so you can get a sense of what section we sat at... 3. Our server was an older slender woman, named Robin? I have never experienced such an inconsiderate & rude person as she. She didn't welcome us to Fiamme, introduce herself as our waitress, ask for drinks... it was more of a "how many" and walked away. 4. Once she decided to come back, We asked to be served our dessert first (Lava Cake & Brownie) and she said NO!! She said dessert comes at the end of the meal, not at the beginning....I had than to explain to her that it was my birthday and I wanted my cake first, excitedly! She just "walked away" I wasn't even done giving my order.... 5.When she returned, I asked her if "I made her angry in someway!?! Because I wanted my cake first. She then explained to us in DETAIL...how the pasta chef quit, that they called her in on her day off and that she was supposed to be at Riot Fest with her son, that everyone working here was so young and can't handle working here and the kicker! That it's BEST not too make the staff upset in anyway because Fiamme can't afford to loose anymore staff!?! 6. Why did I need to know all this??? Why was I shamed for asking for dessert first?? I could have booked a reservation at any other place but we choose to support Fiamme. We could not enjoy my special birthday dinner whatsoever with my husband and son because of every interaction with this waitress. 7. We understand that every establishment is experiencing long wait times, short staffed, food shortages etc etc...We did not have an issue with that whatsoever. We waited patiently for our food just like everyone else. 8. As much as we love coming to Fiamme and supporting Downtown Naperville businesses, our experience with Fiamme was extremely disappointing. Ended up going to Fiammé last week because we were craving their chicken pesto pizza. This time we ended up trying their cocktails, which are VERYYY strong! But so so delicious!! We got a watermelon one and a cucumber one and both of them were super refreshing! We also got some chicken wings which were perfectly charred. The flavor was more on the sweet side, so I wasn't too much of a fan (I'm more into spicy/savory foods) but it was still pretty good as an appetizer! I do wish it came with some sort of a sauce on the side. Now to talk about the actual entree - chicken pesto pizza. So the first time I went to Fiammé, it was my most favorite thing that I ate. The pizza was well done, the ratio of sauce to cheese to toppings was perfect. I would say that wasn't exactly the case this time around. It was still good pizza, but there was definitely more chicken than anything else on the slices. It was honestly a bit more like a sandwich than a pizza so that was a little disappointing. I booked this surprise dinner for my husband's birthday. The staff at Fiamme was more than happy to help me execute this by letting me being decorations, banners, flowers, and balloons to put in one of the igloos for our dinner. When we arrived, they had been so kind as to set up all the decorations beautifully and in such a meaningful and clearly well thought out way. I am very grateful to them all for making this one of the best birthday dinners (per my husband!) ever. Thank you! The food was EXCELLENT, quick, and delicious.
