Let's not kid ourselves -this was one of the finest dining experiences we have had in a long time. The service by our waiter Fernando was excellent and the side visit by Xavier (the owners son) was genuine and warm. Now on to the food. Mushroom soup without big chunks of mushroom is tough to pull off -but it was--smooth and creamy with a perfect taste. The flounder with crushed almonds was soft and flavorful. Bruschetta was fresh and huge and you tasted all of the toppings. The chicken scarepello (sorry for the misspelling) was juice -with well balanced spices. The ambiance felt like it was updated Italian with hint of old word. Portions size matched with price and quality was a value hard to come by. Oh how we wish this place was closer but we no doubt will travel to come here. If we could give six stars it would be granted. read more

My husband had the lasagna and I the special which was pork osso buco. We had the lobster bisque for starters and friedcalamari . The bread is also very good. They have homemade tiramisu. I can tell you the restaurant is beautiful inside and out, first class, Carl made us feel like we were at home. We had just flown in from Texas, so we are far from home. I've been here five times! I love the delicious meals they offer on their amazing menu! Beautiful atmosphere just love that big red counter bar and all around beautiful decor! We enjoy the live music on Thursday evenings with great service wanting to please their patrons on their every visit! We already have plans to go back next week. What a find! We celebrated my mother-in-law's 95th birthday in this lovely restaurant! Carl and his son are so gracious! We felt like family and our waiter, Eduardo was very attentive! Cocktails are inventive and delicious! The appetizers are generous and perfectly prepared! The main course selections are unique and so fresh! The food was fantastic and each of my party of 6 people ordered a different main course with each saying their meal was delicious! We visited Ficarra for the first time to celebrate a friend's birthday, and it did not disappoint. We started with the zucchini fritti, which was fried to perfection, before moving on to the spaghetti pescatore (black squid ink linguine with incredibly fresh seafood) and the fusilli bolognese (sauce was rich and flavorful without feeling heavy). For dessert, we had the tiramisu, easily one of the best we've ever had, and the napoleon, with its light, flaky pastry and a lovely raspberry sauce that tied it all together. Xavier was warm and welcoming throughout, taking the time to walk us through the menu, specialty cocktail list, and desserts. Sous chef Daniel made Chicken Franchise with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy upon request off the menu. Xavier, the manager was warm and helpful as was were wait staff Kevin and Amanda. The bar is full of color including a video of beautiful scenes of Italy.the wait staff individual polish the glasses to sparkle. Finally found an excellent Italian restaurant near by. While there had dessert , of a fresh made Napoleon . It was recommended to me and I recommend it to you. They do have doggy bags for left overs for you or the dog. Parking in front and back. My favorite Italian restaurant was always a small family run place in St Maarten that closed after a hurricane. Ficarra has not just taken its place but has brought it to the next level. The gnocchi with short rib ragu was light and airy, with the perfect amount of seasoning. The Lasagna made with a bechamel sauce was amazing and the scallops were seared to perfection. When we heard Luigi Q was selling the restaurant we held our breath to see what would take its place. I am very happy to report that another upscale Italian restaurant is now open in its spot. We stopped by to welcome the gracious hosts/owners Carl and Demetra Mattone to the neighborhood as we live blocks away. What a beautiful family atmosphere they have created. The previous owner did not allow children, but the Mattones welcome them. It is refreshing how accomodating they are to make your experience a special one. The food and service was outstanding. The focaccia bread was to die for! We had 3 servings. Please don't judge. The zucchini chips - OMG indescribable. The serena sophia (homemade fettuccine with jumbo crab meat in a light cream sauce, orange zest and tomato) , fusilli bolognese and lasagna were all amazing. What a difference fresh pasta makes! Marcela whips up amazing cocktails. I love to pick her brain about various recipes and ingredients that go into her concoctions. The smoked old fashioned is marvelous. The napoleon was light as air. Went with a party of eight on a weeknight very quiet had a nice table service was attentive. Classical/traditional Italian menu nothing that is innovative, had all the usual suspects. Food took a while to come out even though the restaurant was empty not sure if it's their way of pacing, but seemed a little excessive I ordered the chicken Scapiello very underwhelming. I did not care for their sausage served in a brown sauce not in keeping what is expected with Scarpiello. Definitely a pass. The other people at the table enjoyed their food nothing to rave about. Veal Marsala was tender but portion was small. The cost of the dinner seemed high for what was received, although I do know that times are such that prices in restaurants are - and need to be- going up. Unfortunately it just did not give me a sense of any type of value not just on food quality, but the overall experience. They have other very strong reviews, so maybe go and be your own judge. read more

Went to Ficarra Restaurant last night with my wife. The food, service and ambiance were outstanding. We ordered the grilled Polpo (octopus) for an appetizer that we cut with our forks. My wife had the Cozze app for dinner that was large enough to be called a main course. I had been told to try the pork chop with hot peppers. Huge chop with just the right "hotness" of the pepper. First visit last night. This place is a keeper, with tasteful decor, a nice greeting, excellent service and delicious food presented in a appetizing fashion. Cesar Salad large tasty (not authentic). Beet Salad differently prepared and best ever. Duck, traditional presentation ( orange glaze) crispy and done to perfection. Chicken Scarp, traditional fresh ingredients and ever so good. Chefs special dessert, rice pudding, rich and yummy. The owner stopped over several times making sure all was going well. He greeted the customers at the door sat most of them in a very congenial fashion. They seem to be doing all the right things, reminds me of the 1980's and prior. The food was fantastic! The cold fig salad was delicious! The best I have ever had. It was served on a chilled plate. Our meals came out piping hot and cooked to perfection. The service and attention we were given was white glove; not only from the owner but from all of the staff. The only constructive feed back I can provide is that the noise level was too high, not sure if its the floors or the glass wine wall but it was hard to hear my partner. Perhaps something as simple as keeping the lights a bit dimmer , may encourage diners to speak a little quieter. read more
