We ordered: - Spring Salad (5/5) this tasted so good with the fresh mango, the snap peas, and the carrot ginger dressing. - Faroe Islands Salmon (5/5) I only tasted the rice, and not the salmon itself, but the rice was so good, and I just kept on stealing more from the plate. - Roasted-Half Chicken (4/5) This was my own entrée, and I loved how the chicken was crispy, and I also really liked the garlic mashed potatoes, but the only thing that I did not think worked well with the dish was the swiss chard. I think it would've tasted better with spinach. - Strawberry Cheesecake (4/5) this was surprisingly very light for a cheesecake, we ended up finishing all of it, and the whipped cream was really good. The strawberries were not my favorite, I kind of wish that they were just fresh slices of strawberries, but to each their own. Next we decided on the main courses, wifey chose the chicken scallopini with linguine; I chose the rigatoni bolognese - mostly because that was her second choice. We managed to get so full from off the entrees that we managed to have some leftovers for our kids to enjoy back at home. Of course we had to leave some room for desert. You could've served them to me at an Italian restaurant and I wouldn't have questioned it. The Nonna's Ribs were probably one of the biggest surprises--slow-braised pork ribs with cherry peppers and finished on the grill. Fall-off-the-bone tender, tons of flavor, and I loved that they weren't just drenched in BBQ sauce. The Firebird crispy chicken sandwich was fantastic, and the Steakhouse Sandwich with sliced NY strip, mushrooms, provolone, crispy onions and horseradish aioli was also very well done. But that Manhole Burger deserves some special attention. Beef, American cheese, caramelized onions and dijonnaise on brioche. Simple combination, executed REALLY well. This was an outstanding burger and absolutely something I'd order again. And I can't leave out the fries. They're hand-cut in house, super thin and crispy, and exactly how I like my fries. Think that addictive thin fast-food style, except made fresh and much better quality. If you remember this location from its previous ownership, give it another shot. Another 3o minutes go by (and the guy next to me who ordered the other French dip had already finished and left) So the strawberry waiter, after more than 1.15hr walk over and says "hey, we ran out of the French so I ordered you the steak sandwich. Huh? 1 hour and fifteen min later you ran out and the other guy already ate and left? I said great, but I'm not paying for it. 10 min later the owner came out. He could not have been a friendlier, responsible and all around nice person. It wasn't that he not only covered my meal but the table but it was the way he handled it. Owning a restaurant is not easy and problems happen. Food - 8/10 Prices 9/10 Place 8/10 I would not only recommend this place but they have absolutely earned my business. I obviously can't give a 5 because of the incident but I will change this to a 5 when I go back and get the service I have a feeling I'll receive. One star deduction for the rudeness we received from the manager. She came over after we ordered a second bottle of the Freemark Abbey (wine) (as they were completely out and the first bottle we ordered was their last bottle in stock) and gave us two "similar" options that were around the same price of the first bottle. Price doesn't equal to taste. We first asked if it's okay to try it even if we may not like it, and she kindly proceeded to open the bottle. We said "no thanks," to the Keever (it tasted disgusting in comparison), which she and her colleague highly suggested, and we asked nicely if the other bottle was an option to try, but she swiftly walked back inside with both bottles and brought out an open bottle of the Katherine Cab. We liked that better. She stormed away after she said something fast and nasty like "It's either the bottle or you have to pay per glass." We didn't quite catch it but the ultimatum put a bad taste in everyone's mouths. We wound up ordering the Katherine Cab. When we got the bill the server charged us fairly. We tipped well because it's not the server's fault she was upset about opening the wine that she pushed. Happy eats!

For apps, we shared 2 orders apiece of calamari, crab cakes, and lamb chops (6 apps total) with the chops being my favorite out of those. The calamari were small and didn't pack a lot of flavor but they were fried well. The marinara sauce that came with it was also fine but not remarkable. The crab cakes were a little mushy for our liking. For my entrée, I ordered the Lobster Rigatoni. There was plenty of lobster on top, the portion was more than solid, and it came out at the right temperature but the flavor again failed to really impress and was somewhere between "fine" to "good". For dessert, I ordered the chocolate lava cake, and I was truly disappointed by that. For starters, there was no gooey "lava" as the name implied, and the edges were dry and seemed overcooked. The flavor again fell a little flat and I didn't bother to finish it even though I am usually a huge fan of chocolate desserts. All in all, we had an enjoyable evening as a crew, but the food could be elevated a bit from a flavor standpoint. If this was $150 before tax and tip, that would be a much fairer price for the food and experience but at $250 you're competing with some really high-quality restaurants.

As a matter of fact, my group spoke afterwards about feeling as if the 2 chefs had had an argument before we entered because they appeared annoyed. With each other, with plating, with answering our questions... The host Jared was quite friendly and polite. He served the group well. Wine was requested and dispensed but again, not one explanation of where the wine came from, why it was chosen, etc. Interestingly we asked for a second bottle of a particular wine and he came back and said we'd been served the last of that bottle "but I brought you another Pinot". No reasoning as to why this was a worthy follow up or a similarly tasting wine. Nothing... With each course, we had to ask what it was. And if I asked what a particular garnish was or the preparation I was given a very evasive response. I've been to many Chef's Tasting Tables and this is obviously a comparison. While the bites were great, there was no Chef's table. The chef's barely spoke. The vessels for presentation were interesting although some were obviously chosen for the drama of the vessel not the function of the bite. Some of the standout dishes were: Dry aged beef; Wagyu; Hamachi and the Key Lime Mousse. I don't even like Key Lime Pie yet this bite was epic. We sit down and have some time and order our drinks and my friend knows we need to order the rest of our meal at the same time. We order baked oysters and I ordered the special- lamb My friend orders the flounder with risotto because it never disappoints We ordered the cappuccino heath bar ice cream pie and that was incredible! May have been my favorite part of the meal We received the ice cream pie and not even a minute later, a server, who was different than our original server, put the check down. And not even 10 minutes later, he came to check if we had put down a credit card It was not even 10pm yet (mind you, they close at 11pm) I can understand if it was past closing and we were the only ones left but it wasn't even close and there were still other patrons. As we were wrapping up, you could feel them circling our table and staring us down. By the time we left, it wasn't even 10:30pm. Despite the good food, this left a sour taste in my mouth.

While we can't say for certain what caused it, we all ate at the restaurant and became ill afterward, so be careful. It's disappointing because this is one of our regular family spots and we genuinely enjoyed coming here. Unfortunately, the decline in both service and our most recent experience with the food has made us decide it's time to find another regular restaurant.
