Quick visit in for some appetizers and drinks. Met up with a few friends. As we sat, the server took our drink and appetizers orders right away. Within seconds we received our unsweetened iced teas. For the appetizers we tried the chicken quesadillas and spicy chicken wings. *Chicken Quesadillas = 5 Stars. These were surprisingly, really tasty as they were packed with chicken, cheese, bell peppers and flavor! I would order these if I were you! On the side comes, sour cream, generic Picante salsa and generic guacamole (definitely not made in house). *Spicy Wings = 1 Star. I would pass on these in the future. Wayyyyy to much batter, even after two bites, you still don't get chicken, just batter. Kinda disgusting. The dipping sauces that came on the side were ranch and blue cheese. Basic, basic. Luckily we sat on the table next to where the food came out of the kitchen. Some of the sandwiches that came out of the kitchen looked pretty good and we saw an order of corn beef and cabbage come out... all looked delicious. I am a snob. And NOT proud of it. I'm supremely sorry that we've been living here for 26 years--and only once, 20+ years ago, did we come here. Back then, super noisy and crowded on a Fri night, and the food ho hum, and since we don't drink, we never came back. BIG mistake. The other morning I had a craving for Welsh rarebit, which though they don't have, we went thinking we'd get the bangers and mash. First off, we walk in--the place is stunning inside, gorgeous polished burnished light wood everywhere with stained color windows, all glittering glass, honeyed drops of color everywhere, with round and square tables, it looks a bit like a transplant from the UK, Ireland ... and I know because I grew up in London. It's incredibly beautiful inside, lovely sophisticated decor, with lots and lots of glamorous old world vintage-like charm. It's absolutely the perfect place to meet someone for a light bite or for a drink, and I never ever thought of it, not even once. We got their tomato basil soup, which was their daily spacial, rocking with flavor and creaminess, loaded heavily with flavorful basil and freshly cracked pepper. They're bangers and mash with two over easy eggs, sautéed onions, mashed potatoes, and rich brown gravy. Wow wow wow. The bangers an ugly generous portion and enough for four people--not an overstatement. My husband and I easily shared that dish and left a ton on the plate. They do not skimp. The food is super fresh and the ingredients top notch, the fact that I scarfed down that plate of meat, potatoes, baked beans (which the plate comes with)--and had zero GI issues afterwards, is a testimony to their commitment to excellence. The bangers, quality of meat in those sausages and the cooking technique where the skin is crisped to perfection, the interior beautifully left moist, the onions sautéed and browned without rushing, the gravy obviously house made. I am not a bread person, but when they brought--or rather our server, LETICIA, was incredible and amazingly on the ball, not at all phoning it in. She was sweet and warm and well-intentioned, friendly and generous. So Leticia brings the bread and I am blown away. One bite and I knew this was no ordinary store or bakery bought bread. No, the texture super moist and dense, with serious heft to it. We asked about where they buy it, and Leticia says that they make/bake it in house. Whaaaaat? This place is not only a pub but also a restaurant .... And now, a bakery to boot? She tells us that the bread is available by the loaf or sale, so naturally we buy a loaf of their dense German like bread plus another loaf of their raisin bread, which my husband loved. We got the eggs over easy with the bangers and mash, because the dish is part of not their breakfast section, but part of their classics. We loved loved the vibe of this place, and can't wait to go back. I'm thinking that I'll go backing the afternoon with a girlfriend, more for the vibe than for anything else, they have all manners of non alcoholic hot and cold rinks plus little snacks and lunch time stuff. They have a beautiful patio with heat lamps and on a beautiful forgiving day, can eat outside. Though the charm inside is unbeatable. The prices for everything is more than reasonable, especially for the portion sizes and the ambience, as I've described, can't be beat. This is a great example of a local watering hole. I know it bills itself as Irish, but I didn't get too much of that flair. The crowd was lively and diverse, that's cool. I arrived around 10:30 on a Saturday night and the kitchen had already closed, so that was disappointing. Despite missing out on the food, I did have a couple of beers, both were fine. Of course, they had all of the typical Irish stuff, plus a few locals. People at the bar were friendly and the atmosphere was good. It appeared to be the only place in Millbrae that was open that late, so I suspect I will be back if I'm ever staying at the (wonderful & cute) Dylan hotel again. read more

Sis n I stopped for lunch after today's farmers market. We waited a short time for a table to become available on the sidewalk. I enjoyed hearing our server "E's" language pronunciations too. Came here on a Sunday with some buddies to watch football. Lots of families, but was definitely a vibe. All people standing up, smiling and having a good time. The staff was good about checking in on you. Surprisingly, the bread that is free was kinda bomb lol. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was pretty good. We came here once with our friends a while back and not sure why we forgot about this place. So, we decided to come back once again for dinner and let me tell you, we were blown away! It's your typical Irish sports bar but with some amazing food that makes you feel like an O.G. Irish grandmother is in the kitchen cooking up some of her specialties. Home cooked meal at a sports bar, happy days! We tried the Irish Sausage Rolls, Shepherds Pie and the Irish Stew, it was delicious. The meat was so tender and just melts in your mouth and nothing was over salted it was just perfect. Can't wait to come back to try more items on the menu. For years we walked past Fiddler's Green thinking it was just a bar. Truth is they also are a wonderful restaurant. They make my favorite fish and chips. My husband loves their lamb or fresh fish. Love this spot. But sadly our most recent experience was disappointing. My family and I love the Irish breakfast here. Usually it comes with a big portion and has Irish bread, brown bread and white bread. This time the Irish breakfast was definitely cut in half (same price but way less food) and only had white bread. It was packed and there was only one server. She was great but we felt bad and had to keep asking for coffee refills, napkins etc. they needed more help. I actually grew up in Millbrae and this place has been here for as loooong as I could remember. Fast forward to my 31st year of life and i FINALLY decided to give it a try!!! I came in during lunch time on July 5. (I know this review is a few months late but I really only remember the exact date bc my buddy and I were soooo hungover from the day before!) My friend and I were in dire need of good food and a beer (bc ya know, hungover). Anyways, somehow the stars aligned and FIDDLERS popped into my head!!! Like I said before, we came during lunch time... ON A WEEKDAY! There was a handful of people at the bar (regulars? friends of the bartender? Friends of the owner? Idk, but it was a good vibe!) since all the tables were available it took us a few seconds to decide which one to occupy. Once we FINALLY decide, our server was on point from the get go! I know the place was pretty much empty but still... I know you've been to almost empty establishments and the SERVICE STILL SUCKED. But not here! THEY KNOW WHASUP! ok, so now you know they handle business. You wanna know what I thought about the food, don't you? From what I remember, THE FOOD WAS GREAT! Again, we were hungover so we really just wanted to carbo load and have a drink (hair of the dog or whatever they call it). I'm gonna go ahead and post pictures of our food! Came by for dinner the other evening. Upon arrival, I didn't notice any smell that Yelpers were mentioning. The bartender/waiter was very friendly throughout our entire visit. The pub is a "seat-yourself" type. Started off with the Fish n Chips for $13. The fish was slightly oily with the batter a little too thick. The fish itself was good but the fish at Duke of Edinburgh was much better in terms of thickness and quality. The fries were okay. The Shepard's Pie for $13 was mediocre. The ground beef on the bottom had an odd sour taste...maybe the beef was putrid? The mashed potatoes were instant...and there was too much. I'm not sure why they added cheese on top... I got lucky and found this place just across the street from my hotel. I could have hit it with a thrown leprechaun it was so close! This is just a great little Irish pub. Great decor and friendly service. Unfortunately they were out of Harp, but Guinness always serves me well. I actually had my Guinness along with a glass of Red Breast Irish Whiskey, which I had not had before. Quite good! They have a good selection of food as well. I was not really hungry and was going to try the Irish sausage appetizer but found they were out of those. In fairness I was there right before the kitchen shut down. They had a few other Irish dishes including a Guinness stew and bangers and mash. Fiddlers Green is definitely worth and stop. I can't attest to how traditional it really is, having never been to Ireland yet. But I am going next year and I am planning to do plenty of research while I am there! read more

We've been here a few times now on weekdays for dinner. Service in the beginning is fast but of course as the dinner rush begins to pick up, they forget about you a little. Fortunately, we weren't in a rush, but several times we tried to get the waitresses' attention as they walked by but they didn't look us at all (about 3-4x's), and that can get frustrating.
