This is a pretty decent pub. Food is good. Drinks are strong. Service is slow. But there was plenty of room at the bar for the evening.

I travel to Silicon Valley for work with some frequency. I happened upon Fiddler's Green about a year ago due to its proximity to my hotel. I was pleasantly surprised of the authentic Irish feel (staff and patrons alike) since the neighborhood is very Asian. Traditional Irish food done proper and a great selection of beers. I highly recommend paying cash only here! Was OVERCHARGED CREDIT CARD twice on tips within a few hours here. So in other words, I tipped a few dollars on the CC receipt and the bartenders just rounded it up themselves. Good thing I save my receipts and compare against actual charge. Had lunch again there last weekend after a friend that I previously took there wanted to go again as they are now hooked on their fish and chips. The fish and chips here is pretty darn good, crispy batter and the fish tastes fresh. Been going there from time to time for about three years now and the last two times in the past month, the fish portions were definitely smaller (they used to be huge two years ago)...also if I had to say one bad thing, it's that the fish and chips look so impressive, yet just miss the mark. For some reason, the last two times the fish was so bland, almost like the cook forgot to salt it before dipping it in batter. Size and seasoning are the only two things holding it back from attaining true fish and chip greatness. With that, it could be so much more! If you're in the area, it's not a bad place to hit for fish and chips, not sure about anything else there as that's all I ever order. I heard about this place from an Irish friend, and after just recently visiting Dublin and Belfast, Ireland--I had to come and give it a try. My craving for authentic Irish food was getting to me...So, I decided to have lunch one afternoon. The service was excellent, the food (I had the chicken pot pie special, which includes salad and french fries/"chips") was delicious, and the restaurant's ambiance was fantastic. I like the traditional pub look-and-feel. The flat screen televisions all around the restaurant showed Setanta Sports news which featured Gaelic football. This adds to the ambiance! In addition to my chicken pot pie, which was the BEST I've ever tasted (I loved the use of puff pastry--brilliant!)--my server was friendly and super-attentive. She even gave me a copy of the Irish Times newspaper. Loved it! I plan to become a "regular" at Fiddler's Green. Keep up the great work, as I hope to eat there for MANY, MANY more years to come! Love this place, for me and my buddies Fidder's is like the MacLaren's in How I met Your Mother. Perks: cheap drinks, friendly bartenders (one of the guys looks like Landon Donovan), and probably the cleanest bathroom I've been to at a bar. Omg. Love love love it!!! I came in shaking because my blood sugar had dropped. I told the bartender and he produced the most delicious beer battered garlic parmesan mushrooms. We asked what he suggested he said Spice Irish and their best Seller: fish and chips. We are waiting to try them however if the food is anything close to the appetizers well be in heaven. Review for take out- Don't go here for take out. Gets too busy and staff forgets about your order. We had called in to pick up food, they gave us an eta of 20mins. We arrive 15mins later. What a waste of time. Not only is it impossible to find parking but when you arrive no one even acknowledges you. They weren't busy at all, only two tables with customers. We sat there for over 10 minutes not one person approach the table or evening acknowledged that we had arrived. Can't comment on the food since we never got served. read more

Came here to meet up with a friend and was immediately greeted with a server. Service throughout the night was top notch and made sure we had everything we wanted without being overbearing. They could have a better selection of beers but the whiskey list seemed extensive. I ordered the paddy melt and while the flavors were amazing and the season was on point, one thing to be aware of would be that the bread goes soggy quickly. What a disappointing meal we had, particularly since most of our group are recently here from Ireland. The mixed grill was half burnt and the food was mediocre at best. Maybe they need a trip to the old country to remember what good pub food is. It was a Sunday eve, so maybe not their best time but we won't be going back to find out. Great drinks. Ok food. Been here twice and its been mediocre. First was with coworkers for an after-shift drinks and second was for lunch with a friend. I had a long beach tea made by Susan and I have to say it was good and strong. Lunch time with my friends was ok. For appetizers we had fried calamari and irish sausage. The calamari was too small in pieces but great in flavor. I dont recommend getting the appetizer sausage. It was coated with some kind of pastry puff that didnt really go with the sausage. The sausage tasted like Vienna sausage and surprisingly enough, had the same texture. As for the main entree, I had the Liver bacon and onion plate while he had the mixed grill. My meal was cooked the way I liked though his steak was overcooked. The mash potatoes that we've got were bland and in desperate need of butter/cream. They use the same gravy for both our plate and they were too thick. The onions and Irish bacon made up for the gravy and mash. Service is great during bar hours though dinning service needs improvements. There were four waitresses and only had 5 tables yet our waitress seemed to be all over the place. Not very friendly also. It seems like we're a burden not patrons. I would've given two stars but the other one is for the ambiance and motif. Great decor and this is one irish pub that doesnt smell. read more
