EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE! Been searching for a decent brunch in the area and my wife suggested Woodside. My experience is that many places just don't deliver the quality expected and I'm often disappointed. I'll have to say, Woodside delivered! This place is clearly elevated, elegant, and the food is prepared with culinary skill. From the moment we stepped inside, I could tell the atmosphere was classy and quaint. We were greeted by our server Buddy and the bartender. My instincts were that this was going to be good. I was still cautious. Buddy seated us appropriately and brought us menus and filtered water. We both started with coffee and to my surprise Buddy brought a large urn of French press coffee, whole cream and sugar cubes, I absolutely love French Press coffee but rarely see it. I make it at home but on occasion see it offered in a restaurant. Definitely a step above. We looked at the brunch menu and found it hard to decide as there were so many interesting selections that I wanted to try. My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict and I ordered the Croque Madame. As I deliberated, Buddy suggested that I'd stick with my first impression and that I would not be disappointed. I thought it was very classy the way he presented that and it makes sense that sometimes one should go with their first instinct, rather than wonder if they made the right choice later. Again, there were just so many things I wanted to try. When our meals came out, we were both pleasantly surprised at the quality and taste. This was not ordinary breakfast, but I had a good price point for what you get. It was really about the same cost as most breakfast places on the island, but such higher quality and sophistication. I can honestly say this was the best brunch experience I've had in many years and we've frequent a lot of places. The Croque was so tasty, complex and abundant and even the french fries were excellent. My wife's Benedict was also very special as it was rich, fresh, and absolutely clear it was prepared by a chef. The Latkas were a tasty complement. Overall, this was an outstanding experience and I just didn't want to leave. I can't wait to return for dinner to experience it. I believe the menu changes daily and I would definitely recommend Woodside as an elevated dining experience. I am happy to rate this a true 5.0 as it is the best food I've had in the Brunswick/SSI area over the past 6 months. Buddy was great and clearly understands service etiquette. After searching for days for great food in the St Simons area, my wife and I came across Woodside. Quaintly squeezed into the end of a shopping center, as soon as you step inside you are warmly welcomed into a eurocentric gourmet dining room. The service is fast, friendly, and efficient, but not at all rushed. The owner is friendly and passionate about his food, and it shines through in the plating, flavors, and execution. Bar service is high quality and caring. The wine by the glass menu may be a bit limited, but not so much that it will affect your experience. We started with the grilled peach and sunchokes. The peaches were delicious and perfectly balanced in flavor. The sunchokes were fried up las the ideal salty potato chip like compliment to the dish. The stracciatella brought it all together. The bowl was abundant in size. We also shared the cavatelli appetizer, which was light, fluffy, flavorful, and a bit like comfort food. For our main course we shared the Wagyu zabuton and the large bone in veal chop. In hindsight we wished we had order the eibeye over the zabuton, but the meats were both cooked just right. My wife and I weren't huge fans of the meats sitting in the somewhat heavy bernaise emulsion. We would have preferred to be able to cut and taste the meat flavor separate from the sauce. Dessert may have been the highlight of our meal - a chocolate creme caramel. It was indulgent yet not heavy. It was flavorful and all of the bountiful flavors came together wonderfully. I think the caramel was the key to bringing it all together. Lastly, plan to bring your extrovert personality with you and get to know your table neighbors. A nice warm welcome in a quaint little restaurant with good service. Our roasted oyster appetizer was delicious but that is where it ended. My pork loin special was so tough I had trouble cutting it with a steak knife. My dates grouper was served in a bowl of grits, slightly overcooked and unable to cut because it sunk and disappeared into the grits as she tried to slice it. Not what you expect considering the prices they charge. If money is not an issue and you want an exquisite dining experience, stick with Delaney's, Halyard's or GSG. read more

I was in Brunswick for seven months and somehow didn't find out about this place until right before I was going to leave. That's probably for the best from a financial perspective, because, holy cow, this was an experience. Definitely some of the finest dining to be found in the SSI area. Reservations definitely recommended--the place was absolutely packed on a Saturday by 7:30 PM. Buddy, our server, was exceptional. The food? Incredible. Drinks? Stellar. The ambiance? Perfect. Second visit to Woodside. Decidedly less satisfied the second time. I opted for a 16 ounce veal chop.. it was cooked perfectly, but a pound of meat? There needs to be a smaller portion option. My wife's tile fish was okay, the fillet could have been hotter. Pear desert was ruined by what I believe was inferior or poorly balanced chocolate sauce. Our menu also had a typo, $42 item on the menu was $75 on the check. They offered to comp the difference, but considering I ate a side of veal, I declined to accept the kind offer. The bread service is something everyone should put on the bucket list! The store front is spotlessly clean and the staff is professional and friendly. There is serious competition on SSI and I think the more established restaurants offer a bit more healthy options and perfect execution. I hope this review helps Woodside achieve excellence. read more

Man oh man I can't say enough great things about Woodside on Saint Simon's Island. Another incredible restaurant that has been awarded the extremely coveted 3 licks award. Our night started off with our waitress Nelly from Scotland "who grew up on a boat" seated us at the most comfy horseshoe sofa booth. The exact one my wife asked for when she made the reservation. Soon after that 4 buns arrived at our table. Not just your average buns, but the most puffy, buttery, and flaky, croissant like buns ever baked. Our table enjoyed the Lagoon oysters and even passed a bowl of the leak and potato soup around for all to try. Wow. And I can't forget the button sized raviolis filled with homemade ricotta and the rare morel mushroom. Our entrees were also some of the best we've ever had in GA, especially the Porchetta from Grassroots farm out of Woodbine, sourced by Brandon the Grassman who is a legendary farmer in the area. All this was enjoyed with a couple bottles of some fine Nebbiolo. We finished the evening of with all 3 desserts, but the standout was definitely the CHOCOLATE CRÈME CARAMEL: FENNEL SHORTBREAD, CHANTILLY CREAM, ESPRESSO GRANITA. This is a top-notch restaurant tucked away in St. Simons Is., GA. We visited on a Wednesday evening, sat on the beautiful patio, and were amazed at the meticulous care given to each food item as it was delivered to our table. The server was delightful, and the chef took time out of his kitchen to greet us and explain the menu options. This was our favorite spot in St. simons. The service was incredible - everyone was kind and welcoming to our whole family including the 7 year old boys. At one point, the hostess came and played tic tac toe with the kids! So lovely and unexpected for a restaurant of this caliber. The decor is gorgeous both inside and out on the serene patio. We started off with bread, watermelon salad, and Burrata. All delicious but fave was Burrata. The bread is very flaky and buttery. The watermelon salad had more chili than expected. For entrees, the wagyu tri tip was phenomenal as was the grouper. Hubby got a mushroom pasta which he enjoyed but he thought the star of the show was the grouper. The best new restaurant on the island. We had plans to go somewhere else and discovered this place has been amazing and under the radar. We didn't have reservations but got there around 8 and got seating at the bar immediately. The food, cocktails and menu are unbelievably. Our bartender explained the menu and drinks perfectly. We both had a cocktail and then red wine with our tritip steak that was cook to perfection. Chef came out to check on us. We highly recommend this restaurant.
