Had a fantastic dinner at Georgia Sea Grill. Calloway was our server and she was absolutely amazing. She not only kept up with all of our shenanigans but gave it right back, which made the experience even more fun. Attentive, personable, and just a great vibe all around. We started with peach martinis (highly recommend) along with the fried okra, crab soup, wedge salad, and beet salad. Everything was fresh and full of flavor--great way to kick off the meal. For the main course we tried the flounder prepared a few different ways--one fried, one pan-seared, and one bronzed--and each one was fantastic. And then two orders of scallops which were incredibly buttery and cooked perfectly. We wrapped it all up with a slice of Georgia pecan pie that was the perfect sweet ending. Ok by far the best seafood meal we have had since we moved here in November. The service was excellent and our waitress was a hoot. In fact I'm going to ask for her when we return for our anniversary end of the month. She was fantastic super knowledgeable about the entire menu. Tasty and delicious. We started with the crab soup and beet salad. Both were fresh and delicious. We got the half dozen oysters which were briny and sweet. My husband had the flounder special and I ordered the bacon poached salmon. Delightful. For dessert we had the chocolate coconut pie and I had the Italian coffee. That coffee? We've been to the Georgia Sea Grill several times before and consider it the best restaurant on the island. We went this evening for a special occasion and it didn't disappoint. Landan, our server, was great. The crab soup (bisque) was outstanding. The salads were good. There are three choices for fish preparation and about five types of fish-all fresh. We went for triple tail, cajun style. It was fresh and excellent. Finally, fresh peach pie for dessert. My wife thought it could have had more peaches, but it was tasty nonetheless. The ambiance is sort of casual, but not too casual, just right. We had wine with dinner although there are cool specialty cocktails available. Our special occasion was indeed very special. read more

The fried shrimp was delicious. It came with garlic Cole slaw which was yummy as well. The shrimp and grits were awesome as well. The taso ham added a nice touch. The Brussel sprouts could be best described as blah. The service was awkward. The waitress would only look at one person at a time. I'm rarely blown away by service, food, quality, food, taste, beverage, service, and ease of seating. However, Georgia Sea Grill was the most seamless dining experience. I've had in a long time and all of the food was delicious. Our server was friendly, attentive, and entertaining without being over the top. The crab soup was some of the best I've had since I left Southern Maryland many years ago, and Southern Maryland is *known* for cream of crab soup. This was right up there! The hush puppies are served on a jalapeño sauce that is top notch. Loved it! Tried for the first time visiting St Simon's Island and made it for happy hour. We ordered two glasses of wine and a few items to try and then stayed for a late dinner. We tried the fried pimento cheese in Tabasco syrup, crab stuffed hush puppies, fried shrimp corndogs, and the wasabi pea encrusted tuna. We would've never ordered the pimento cheese however it was recommended by our server. We're glad we did because it was really tasty and the syrup had an interesting flavor. I would definitely order again. The wasabi tuna was good as well as expected. The crab stuffed hush puppies and shrimp corn dogs were just fine. We ordered a wedge salad and pan seared three tail fish and split the order as we just wanted to follow with a light meal. The salad was fine and different than expected as I typically get a wedge with blue cheese and bacon. This salad featured a peppercorn vinaigrette, which was just ok. The fish was tasty but was a small portion and probably too small to split. I failed to mention that happy hour drinks are great with the house wine at $4 a glass. I would definitely like to try again to give a better assessment. Apologies for limited photos as we were hungry and started to eat before taking any pictures. Wow! There's a reason why this has been voted at the top of restaurants in the area. They open at 5 and there was the usual line of people waiting to grab a seat in one of the two bar areas. We chose the non-piano side and enjoyed the atmosphere. Our wait staff was Emma and she was so friendly and professional. GSG has a fab happy hour with drink specials and app specials. We had almost one of everything and were happy with all. The Georgia wild shrimp corn dogs were perfectly breaded and fried and come with a great dipping sauce and coleslaw. We tried the fried okra with a chive aioli-lightly breaded and nicely crunchy. The plate of beef carpaccio was beautiful and delish! It was served with capers, baguette slices and a perfect soft boiled egg. The pimiento cheese is like a hush puppy but filled with the cheese on top of a thin Tabasco sauce. So good! The highlight for all of us was the wasabi ahi tuna. It was so tender and tasty as well as the stir fried cabbage. We enjoyed their southern manhattan drink and the house red wine. Amazing dinner! This place was lively even on a Monday, but we were seated promptly--reservations seem to be a must. We started with the escargot, which was fantastic. My only complaint? I could have easily eaten two orders! For the main course, I had the bacon-poached salmon, and it was truly one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had--phenomenal. Our server was so great. She spent extra time explaining the menu for us. We had four in our party and tried redfish, sea trout and mussels. They had a specially prepared rice that had a blue tint to it that was divine! The blackened redfish was amazing! For dessert we sampled the chocolate coconut pie and carrot cake - both very good. Came here on a Tuesday night and it was the only restaurant that was bustling. Went to check in for a table and the wait was 40 mins. Since the restaurant came highly recommended and the house was packed, figured we'd wait to be seated. I had the shrimp and grits. Was delicious but warning, if you don't eat meat, it comes with. When the plate was delivered, I'd mentioned to my server and she took care of it promptly even enhancing it for a non-meat version of the dish. It was pretty good. Would recommend. Enjoyed a decadent dinner at Georgia Sea Grill. LOVED the Cajun spiced preparation, fresh catch fish. We enjoyed Triple Tail and Swordfish at our table. The fish was cooked perfectly, great flaky texture and mild sweet taste. Stunning presentation!!! The Charleston gold blue crab rice with ginger, carrots, green onion, & citrus soy aioli perfectly complimented the Cajun seasonings. The aioli was especially amazing! I wanted more! Utterly delectable! They served complimentary rolls before hand that were ok. We tried the crispy calamari with parmesan-pecan dust and Cajun aioli appetizer. It was one of the best versions of calamari I've ever had. Very unique. The aioli was out of this world, spicy and full of seasonings. Would highly recommend! Just delicious. We also tried the crab stuffed hushpuppies. Supposedly the most popular appetizer, but we weren't impressed. Made with crab, jalapeño, corn, & pickle chive aioli, which sounds amazing, but the fried dough took over most of those flavors. Our waiter was great and the atmosphere is cozy. We were disappointed we couldn't order the shrimp corndogs from the first call menu, I guess it's only offered at the bar. We came here for a wedding reception and they had the back room reserved. The menu was a set menu but what we had was delicious! The hush puppies were great. We also had the citrus chicken and it was a huge piece of chicken. It was so tender and flavorful. The chocolate cheesecake was amazing. I am disappointed that I was too full and couldn't enjoy the whole thing. The staff were very attentive and helpful and didn't miss anything. The parking is a little difficult. It does not accommodate all of the guests in that area. Some of us had to drive around and find parking. I would definitely recommend this restaurant! read more

We went after not being able to get into the Porch and it was a good decision. The fried pimento cheese was the highlight, really enjoyable drizzled in an almost balsamic hot sauce. I then had one of the fish specials, triple head, prepared golden style (with hoppin john). My only recommendation is they hand out a list of the fish specials, it was information overload when she read us the options. The fish was fresh and nicely prepared, I am not a huge hoppin john fan and was only mildly impressed with it. I was a little disappointed in the Brussels sprouts, not as crispy as I would have liked and the bleu cheese preparation seemed lost in the flavor or the Brussels. Definitely go back, if nothing else for the pimento cheese and fresh fish. read more

Bar staff great conversation while waiting for friends, all items everyone order was truly amazing, while it was a celebration for a friend, we never felt rushed by staff, always attentive without hovering, as we travelled from JEKYLL , the only comparison I would advise, is the lack of handicapped parking in the square is truly bad, only one for the restaurant itself, arrive early to drop your guests, you'll need the extra 20 minutes. We went here to celebrate my 40th birthday. We came early for our reservation and were able to go to happy hour. The bartender was phenomenal and made sure that our drinks were exactly how we wanted them. I had a Southern Manhattan (not on the happy hour menu). I kid you not, this was knock my socks off good. I will forever be looking to replicate this drink for my thanksgiving dinner. For our meal, I started with the fried pimiento cheese, a wedge salad, and the ravioli (I am not a fish person.) Hubs had the crab soup and Cajun redfish. He claims it is the best meal he has ever had. I was only slightly insulted. The rolls and bourbon pecan butter were the stuff dreams are made of. They also brought me a card and a dessert for my birthday. Pecan pie was great. The live piano was a wonderful accent to top off a perfect evening. Overall 10/10. The worst service I've ever received in my life. Went to this restaurant with high expectations. Left with absolutely zero respect for the staff and establishment. Showed up at 7:46pm on Thursday. Sat at the bar, requested 2 glasses of wine. The bartender left with the request. Returned 10 minutes later and told us they were no longer serving customers. When we asked why she simply replied with the restaurant across the street will serve us. We went to Mallory street cafe and had a fantastic experience. Reminds me of the throw back restaurants with a bar from the 60's & 70's when I was a kid and went to dinner with my folks. My partner and I had dinner here while visiting Jekyll Island for several nights. The food, including crab-stuffed hush puppies and fried green tomatoes, was excellent. My salmon was seared and a liiittle too underdone for me, but, because our server, Linda, was so lovely, I didn't have the heart to send it back. This long-established St. Simon's restaurant, often considered the best seafood spot on the island, has a comfortable (not glitzy) feel, service is efficient and nearly all of the dishes we tried were excellent. We settled in and felt like we would enjoy the meal and the evening. Most of our party of six had a starter and a main course, typically grilled fish such as triple tail or crab cakes or catfish, and nobody complained. I had three appetizers for my meal - fried calamari, oysters on the half shell and snails. The calamari must have been from a giant squid, because the pieces were very large. It was okay. The oysters were small but tasty. And the escargot in a garlic butter sauce with puff pastry top was excellent My cold Beefeater martini was top-notch. I think it was $12. The key lime tart we all tasted for dessert was fantastic. Our dinner for six with a couple of drinks, a bottle of cider and a glass of wine, was $317, before tip. Not cheap, but this was probably the best seafood we had in St. Simons. read more

We had a very, very good dinner here. Service was excellent. I had their Caesar salad to start. It's deconstructed. The white anchovies are served on one side of the lettuce and the croutons separately on the other side. In the middle is a heart of romaine lettuce chunk topped with a couple Parmesan crisps. They had a number of fishes of the day in addition to their menu items. I had their triple tail lightly blackened and served over orzo pasta. He had their red snapper, roasted, and served over hoppin john. For dessert, we shared a taste of their sweet pecan pie -- which they nicely presented with a lit birthday candle for his celebration. We returned last night during our annual family SSI beach excursion--the first since we the height of the COVID pandemic. It was crowded, it took a little time to get our entrees, but our server Lewis was awesome. He tended to our every needed. That damn risotto with bacon-poached salmon was just as good as ever! This is really one of my favorite restaurants, and they are always excellent. Such genuine people and such amazing food. I recommend Georgia Sea Grill to all. read more
