With two…read morefood truck options--burgers (always a solid standby) or Middle Eastern fusion--we decided to go for the more adventurous choice. Best decision of the day. Even with the huge crowd, Traveling J's was running like a well-oiled machine. Two people--just a chef and a cashier--were absolutely cranking out orders while still keeping the line moving fast. Impressive! We narrowed our choices down to two items to split - Gourmet Grilled Cheese + Garlic Cilantro Fries (upgrade) and Hummus with carrots & cucumbers. Add two cold drinks and our total came to $28.62. Not bad considering the generous portions. When we opened our to-go boxes, we were seriously impressed. The hummus was smooth and creamy, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with spices. The fries were crispy (not soggy!) with just the right kick of garlic and cilantro. And the grilled cheese? Perfectly toasted, melty, and stuffed with sweet, crispy bacon. Cheese was oozing, bread was golden, and it was everything a grilled cheese should be--and then some. The portions were more than enough for two hungry adults, and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I even made sure to compliment the chef--he looked like he'd been hustling nonstop to keep up with the crowd, and it showed in the quality. Next time, I've got my eye on their fried Halloumi cheese. It looked AMAZING coming out of that truck. Bottom line: Fresh, flavorful, filling, and run by a hardworking duo who know what they're doing. Traveling J's is officially on my "must-eat-again" list.

In a sea of soups where some folks were clearly trying a little too hard to impress the crowd, Trailer Trash Chili Dogz rolled in with chili, hot dogs, and crunchy Fritos and just let the flavor do the talking. The chili was fantastic and their whole vibe immediately won me over. While I was there, I spotted a board listing their menu from the food truck -- 17 different chili dog variations. Seventeen. From one truck. I had a brief moment where I wondered if I had died and somehow ended up in chili dog heaven. Naturally, I immediately suggested that they create a Chili Dog Passport so customers could work their way through all 17 varieties like a delicious scavenger hunt. (Spoiler alert: I continue to politely harass them about this idea whenever possible.) I fully intend for Chili Dog Passport completion to become a side quest for my Summer 2026 adventures. Honestly, tell me that doesn't sound epic! I grabbed a business card at the Soup Cookoff and followed them on social media as soon as I got home. A few days later, while planning weekend adventures, I saw they were setting up in the Bass Pro parking lot on a chilly Saturday afternoon. Conveniently, that lined up perfectly with my lunch window while I was out and about. Fate. About fifteen minutes after they opened, I rolled into the Bass Pro parking lot and joined a short line of fellow chili dog hunters who were apparently also willing to brave a cold, grey, wet March day in pursuit of hot dogs. Choosing from 17 chili dogs was tough, but I decided to start with the basic chili dog ($6) -- plus diced onions -- because if a place can't nail the classic, nothing else matters. I added a Diet Pepsi ($2) and my total came to $9.75 with tip. And yes, part of that tip was absolutely intended as encouragement toward the future Chili Dog Passport program. I grabbed my food and scampered back to my car like a raccoon protecting a prized snack. When I slowly opened the foil, I immediately started grinning. It was beautiful! A big, fluffy but sturdy roll. Tons of chili and cheese. The onions were diced nice and fine (which I prefer over chunky ones). The chili itself was super flavorful and the hot dog had the perfect cook. In short: this was a really, really good chili dog! Trailer Trash Chili Dogz absolutely delivered, and I'm already looking forward to working my way through the rest of their menu. I'm not even a little ashamed to admit that I'll be following them around on social media and fangirling a bit all summer long. Also worth noting: the folks running the truck were super friendly, which just made the whole experience even better. Now if we can just get that Chili Dog Passport printed...

This place started showing up in my social media feeds constantly. All day. Every day. Smoked meat?…read moreI'm listening. Smoked meat and homemade peanut butter pie? In the same building?! Immediate must-try status. I hatched a plan to visit on a chilly January Friday night, knowing they'd recently been selling out of items before their posted 7pm closing time. The target: 5:30pm. Risky enough to feel exciting, early enough to still secure smoked meat. A calculated move. Get Smok'd is located in a strip mall, and when I arrived, most of the front parking spots were full. Brief "oh no" moment...then I snagged a spot from someone pulling out and hustled inside. The dining room was much more spacious than it looked from outside, though many tables were already filled. I stepped up to the counter fully prepared--having studied both the menu and their social media all week in belly-growling anticipation. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with street corn and a fountain soda. Adventure Buddy went with the Lamb Gyro special, coleslaw, and a soda. Total for dinner came in around $40, which felt very reasonable for the amount of food. We timed it perfectly. About 10 minutes after we arrived, a large party of ~20 people walked in and filled a reserved table. More folks followed right behind them and suddenly the place was packed, buzzing, and running low on seats. Lamb Gyro: Fantastic. The smoke really came through on the lamb, and the tzatziki was super cucumber-forward, which Adventure Buddy loved. It was also a generous portion for the price--always appreciated. Street Corn: First off, the presentation was on point. The husk flared out like a little sunburst--very eye-catching. The cook on the corn was perfect, seasoning was just right, and the ear itself was a great size. Goldilocks corn. Coleslaw: This one missed the mark for us. The cabbage itself was fine, but the dressing was very bland and there was a lot of it--bordering on cold coleslaw soup territory. Not our thing, though it might work for some. Pulled Pork Sandwich: The pulled pork? Fabulous. Moist, juicy, perfectly smoky. I paired it with the Lawd That's Good traditional sweet sauce and ate every last bite of the meat. The roll, however, didn't live up to the pork--it felt like an odd mismatch. I skipped the bread and focused on the star of the show. Peanut Butter Pie: I...was not prepared. I did not expect a smoked meat joint to casually deliver one of the best peanut butter desserts I've had in a long time. This isn't a slice--this is a personal peanut butter pie. I'd guess 5-6 inches wide, about 1.5 inches thick, served in its own tin and piled high with whipped cream. This wasn't dessert--this was an entire second meal. At $10, it was worth every single penny, and I seriously debated ordering another. I will absolutely be back just for this pie. Overall, Get Smok'd BBQ earns a solid 5 stars from both me and Adventure Buddy. Friendly staff who checked in, meat smoked to perfection, and a peanut butter pie that completely stole the show. Good lawd! PRO TIP: If you're planning to visit later in the day, check Get Smok'd on social media first. They sell out. Early. Often. Don't waste a trip just to find locked doors and shattered BBQ dreams. This place is hot right now--and very much worth the visit if there's still smoked meat left to be had!

I had the double Patty smash burger with bacon and it was one of the best burgers I have had. There was also some homemade pickle Chips that were delicious. We split a PB pie. I hope they do coconut pie at some point. My only critique is the burger (all sandwiches) should come with potato chips. Or fries but I am thinking they don't have a fryer there. I didn't mind the price of the burger but the sides were too expensive for me to add. I just wanted something more with that burger. If that burger had Chips would be 5 stars. Highly recommend this place. I look forward to eating there again.

That and their menu was not insanely inflated as many food trucks are. I ordered 9 hot dogs and they were all reasonably priced and very tasty. Their homemade Cole slaw was fantastic, especially on a hot dog! Macaroni and Cheese could use more cheese IMO, but was still good and I loved seeing it in a crockpot. Most of their food is homemade, with food from local farmers in the Shippensburg area. I was glad to support them and give e my business, and to give this review. Another nice touch was they had coolers out with drinks, and if you bought one they told you to just go grab it. They also had lots of sauces laid out. Honestly this isn't a chain or expensive soulless experience as many food trucks are. You get homemade food and an experience like you would at a potluck or from your grandparents. Can you put a price on that? If you see them, tell them Scott sent you.

The two people working were really friendly, and the woman taking orders was happy to give recommendations. I went with the Belly Buster (see photo). The flavor was solid, but the bun was cheap and turned mushy immediately, which honestly ruined the overall experience. I'm giving them 22 out of 25 stars, a solid B+. With better-quality rolls that can actually hold the toppings, it would easily be an A.

We sat on a stone ledge to enjoy our meal when a police officer parked nearby. He sniffed and smiled and said "Ah, Whistle Punk. Nice sandwich. But you want to know the best beef here?" We did, and he pointed in the direction of Keep It Smokin' B.B.Q. He said their their pit beef was excellent but their pit pork was even better. I love recommendations from someone who knows, and his was spot on. We wandered over and watched the operation for a few minutes. The owner offered us a taste of the beef; it was charcoal-charred, really juicy, tender, and rubbed with a pepper-forward spice. It was incredible - easily one of the top three I've tasted anywhere. Ah, but then he offered tastes of pit pork loin, crunchy exterior yet dripping with juices. I've eaten a boatload of Philly Pork sandwiches but this, this, THIS made them all taste like charcoal. Neither one needed onions or tiger sauce or BBQ sauce or anything other than delicious meat. Their prices and portions were reasonable. My only complaint is that their truck doesn't come to my county so I'm gonna have to drive to them - and I will. Ahhhhhhhhhhh.

And, the platters are enough for two small eaters or one larger eater (with a few leftovers). The chicken was very good, the Gyro meat was as expected (I would have liked mine with more of a "char"), and the falafels were well seasoned with a crispy outside (and not greasy at all). I ordered mine with all the goodies to see how all the toppings blend together. I also had the white sauce and the hot sauce. It all worked well together. The wait was longer than expected but they did have a constant stream of customers and they were making things as they were ordered. Definitely worth a stop. Make it the last stop on your way home because you'll probably be taking something home. I didn't try the fries but there were people coming just for the fries and one of the sauces. I'll have to try that as a snack the next time I'm feeling snacky. The prices are decent. A can of soda was about $1.50. The large platter was about $12. You can eat a decent meal for about $15. Which is better than fast food and the flavors are so much more interesting. Now that I'm writing this, I'm craving some. I might need to see if they're around.
