(They were the ones who requested photo only bid) After showing up late and taking a long trip to the neighbor to give them a bid, they did not complete the work. The reason given was the pile was not organized. It had stuff in it that was not easy to work with. It was more than they expected, and then they decided it needed different equipment to do some of the work. I had already agreed to pay them more than the original bid. Then I left them to finish up the work that day. Instead of doing what they could with the chipper, they decided to call it a day after only 4 hours of work. I had paid them as I had to get to other tasks, and the next thing I know, they are gone. To top it all off, they drove across my drain field to turn around despite me telling them to avoid that area and giving them a specific place to turn around. This dug ruts into the grassy area that I had to repair. My neighbor had them give a bid and had time scheduled with them. I noticed little things like leaving the ropes in the trees until we said we were happy with what was done and taking the time to explain what he did and why to both of us. Field Tree Care (FTC) did an amazing job! If I could give more stars I would. Ian took the time, in person, to discuss the main tree I was worried about. I mistakenly thought the tree was dying, he showed me the signs that it was just sick & it could recover. After our conversation I chose to only have dead branches removed from all 4 trees. I have kids and pets and high winds so they are dangerous. I did get a total of 4 estimates and FTC had the best price. One was close & agreed the tree should be saved, the other two were super high & didn't mention saving the tree at all. Ian & his team were kind to my dog & kids , very efficient & they cleaned everything up! Ian checked in with me when finished to make sure I was fully satisfied. And I am. FTC saved me $ by being truthful about the tree & having the best price. As a single Mama of two kids every $ counts & I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again. Cheapest prices of the 8 companies I checked. But they are not very reliable. For the day of my quote, the guy was supposed to come in the early morning but instead came in the late afternoon. The quotes are not given on paper, but instead on the Internet. I made changes to my quote, and the new quote overwrote the old one so that it wasn't easy to compare quotes unless you wrote the information down yourself. After thinking it over, I decided to go with the original quote. The company then gave me a higher price than originally quoted, but thankfully I saved the old quote e-mail which was proof of their original lower price. If I didn't have that, they wouldn't have believed me on the price. I wanted the work to be done on a certain day, but the guy didn't show up. He claimed that he accidentally put the appointment for the following week, which wouldn't work for me. So we rescheduled. But the day we rescheduled for happened to be when they were off due to holidays. But I didn't find this out when I made the appointment, only the following week. So the appointment kept getting pushed up week by week until in the end, the work wasn't done until a month after it was supposed to be done. When they finally did the work, they did just the amount which was on the quote, and nothing more. So make sure you read your quote well. I asked them to send me a quote of additional work I wanted to consider having done, and they never sent me one. read more

I spoke with the owner Ian, about a month ago when he was cutting down trees for a neighbor and asked him if he cut tall hedges. He confirmed that he did and would be happy to take a look and give an estimate. Yesterday I called him and once again explained what I was looking for. He made an appointment with me to come and give a quote between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. this morning. My husband and I were out last night at a show but I got up early to be ready for the appointment and waited until 9:40 a.m. I then gave Ian a call to see where he was. First he apologized and said he was running late. Then he said "Can I recap on what you're looking for." I told him and he said "Actually I'm sorry I'm very busy and we're not really doing hedges". I expressed my frustration and his response was "Sorry about the disappointment, I appreciate your patience." What in the world? The least he could've done was call or text this morning to cancel.
