No trip to Maine in the spring and summer is complete without a stop at Fielder's Choice. There are multiple locations. The sizes are very generous and a great value for the price. It is cash only. My baby-size cone was $3.59. They have a drive through but I find delight in staring at the menu board and going up to the window to order. The employee who served me was very pleasant. I was served quickly. There is plenty of parking. There are picnic tables and a large grassy area so you can enjoy your treat and the kids can run around. I recommend Fielder's Choice. read more

I have loved Fielder's Choice Ice Cream since the first visit a decade (?) ago. It's always a treat ... literally! The Brunswick location is a half hour from home, and it's mostly a drive through ... but idk if it is all year long or not (I don't think so!) The young gals at the window were great! I asked if they did anything special for "birthdays" and was told no. That's too bad! Even if it's just a down charge in price or an upsize for the lower cost. Of course folks would need to show their drivers license and it would need to be within a couple days of their birthday. I'm also thinking a loyalty card would be nice. Maybe set up a birthday/reward program. It's all outdoors, and sit in your car. Later there will be picnic tables, I believe! read more

Awesome ice cream place! We sampled the ginger snap (yum!) vanilla soft serve and the Oreo. I would warn they out chocolate syrup in the bottom of all cones (yuck for ginger snap)! I ended up tossing the cone which is an ungraded because of this. Also, please make smaller servings. This is just too much and we had it EVERYWHERE. I was SUPER excited trying Fielder's Choice. I ordered a black cherry milkshake and was drooling! I love the well guided drive-thru and tons of space to park and enjoy your treat. Good Ice Cream...if you can get it. Tourists beware you'll need to find cash. It's 2024 and who honestly is still cash only. It wouldn't be that big of a deal, if they POS ATM they advertise actually worked. Normally this would be a five-star review, about the quality of their ice cream, but I have to give them a solid two stars for the absolute pain the butt their policy is. I've been here before and it's really good, but I haven't been there in a year or so. Totally forgot they are a cash-only business. Got to their parking lot and remembered cash only. I don't have a local bank, so I had to use their advertised atm. Normally that's not a problem. This location has one of the cheap ones you see at sketchy gas stations in bad neighborhoods. It doesn't function like a normal ATM. The menu is confusing and it prompts you to check you balances before you can withdraw. Then the atm tells you it suspects fraud and cancels the transaction. Throw multiple times. Still not convinced I haven't been scammed by a bogus atm. Either way, don't show up without wads of cash or it will be a completely wasted trip and not worth the hassle. We ended up going back into Bath, using a card, and spending twice as much for much better dessert options. Tourists beware. read more

When you pull in to the parking lot, you'd think by looking at the size of the building that it has an indoor option. However, it does not. It is strictly a drive thru / walk up window place. The ice cream choices and options are great and the ice cream itself is very good. We got ice cream for 5 people for under $20 which kind of blew my mind honestly. The have some picnic tables located all the way on the other side of the parking lot. The only reason I'm giving this an "average" is due to the fact that they provide no bathroom facilities or options at all. Given the size of the property and the size of their building, even an out house would be helpful. Staff was typical ice cream shop folks. Unfortunately they had closed for the season. Venturing a bit farther away we discovered fielders choice. They had a superb selection of different Sunday offerings that had baseball generated names. Soft serve along with a good selection of hard ice cream. To cure my ice cream addiction I chose to opt for a medium Maine blueberry. First of all it was enormous. Very generous portion. And not because it sucked!! It was rich and creamy with loads of wild Maine blueberries and fantastic blueberry flavor. My sister got the coffee Oreo which was equally impressive with great flavor and loads of Oreos incorporated into it. We have always enjoyed Fielders Choice and we were happy when one opened in Brunswick. However this year, the amount of hot fudge on the Sundaes is so minimal, we have had to request extra hot fudge, and that makes it sufficient. Yesterday we went and we ordered the usual Sundae with extra hot fudge and there was the tiniest amount of whip cream on top. It was barely visible. The ice cream at Fielder's Choice is totally worth the drive. They have all t he standard flavors and the taste of homemade ice cream can't be beat. Now open for the season with a drive through window and a couple of walk up order stations as well that encourage social distancing. The former indoor tables have been moved outside for an open patio so you can still enjoy your treat outside your vehicle. As an aside to the owner or manager...you might want to schedule less staff on the weekends. With the drive through loaded with cars and 2 walk up windows, we ordered and stepped aside to wait for our ice cream. There were a group of 5-6 young ladies standing there laughing and chatting by the coolers doing nothing but taking up space. With this pandemic, if you have time to lean- you have time to clean. That has always been the motto in retail. Find something to do instead of standing around. Made me think twice about the management letting it happen. Man oh man. My husband and I were in town for two nights and after grabbing some ice cream through the drive through (what? yes, drive through, amazing!) we decided that we had to hit them on night two as well! The sizes were ridiculous, I couldn't finish either ice cream from each night. The Dugout is outstanding, and the ice cream quality is great. This is a place to avoid. They have no idea how to make customers happy. They even charge for a dish if you want it ina edition to a cone.

Their portions are huge, the prices reasonable, and they have a good selection of flavors. They offer both window service and drive through, but still seem to be working out some kinks on managing the two. It helped that the staff were really friendly. My kids both got small cotton candy flavor that were more the size of a pint! I had the grape nut, which was delicious, and my husband had the cookie dough.
